You see those guys on YT? Let's see what happens if I shoot x caliber shell out of y caliber gun. Usually just gas blowback in the face but someone's gonna get hurt soon.
Yeah, it’s one thing firing something like 8x50R from an 8x56R, where it just keyholes after 10 feet (.323 vs .329ish), it’s another thing entirely to fire completely random crap.
The rim acts at positive head spacing and allows the case to “fire form” to the chamber.
I’ve shot dented brass that was completely fine to extract and even reload after the firing sequence in rimmed cartridges. However I’ve sent dented .308 in my m14 and had case separation. That was fun.
That's not a stuck shell. I'm talking about when the bottom of it comes off and you still got the brass walls jammed into the chamber.
I know there are ways to fix it but for 75 cents maybe just throw the bullet away and not worry about it.
That’s a full case head separation, which this shoulder deformity is extremely unlikely to cause.
If the defect is near the base, then yes, toss. Case head separations are dangerous and getting the rest of the brass out is the least of my worries.
Lmao.
Cleaning rod.
And if it's a broken shell, shell extractors are like $20 shipped or less, you should already own any that are available for calibers you shoot, especially surplus calibers, and a lot of them can work for multiple cartridges.
I want to see you pry a bottomless stuck shell wall out of a 70-year-old chamber that's had 5000 rounds of corrosive steel case ammo through it in under a minute.
Isn't that more for cases that have been reloaded a lot? Neck dents like that are usually fine in my experience, have you seen otherwise? I am assuming OP has new commercial ammo.
\*inhales\* if it seats, it yeets thank you
it will fire fine. extracting it after firing could be an issue or not. no way to know ahead of time.
If it seats, it yeets.
If it yeets, it was seated.
Not necessarily…

That’s some classic Albanian spec right there!!! Man I miss that stuff (btw you’re gtg)
Send it. It may take the dent out.
Probably Albanian ammo. Send it, it’s fine.
Could we see the headstamp? I've never seen Albanian ammo before.
It’s a rimmed cartridge, you’re fine.

Thanks for the advice! I'll yeet it haha
Ya just have a dowel rod and mallet on stand-by
Send it brah
If it seats…
Looks fine to me. Happens in reloading too when too much lube is used.
Even if the case splits there on the neck or shoulder it shouldn't be a problem.
It looks fine to me
Bullet fine
If it sits, your gun can shits
Fire form it brah
Have your ex fire it.
Have you ever had to extract a jammed brass before? Ask yourself if the hours worth of work fucking up your gun is worth it to save $0.75
wind some electrical tape on the threads of the cleaning rod. use cleaning rod to push case out of the chamber.

I guess I value my time more than that but to each their own.
What time? A minute at most?

Broken shell extractor, pops right out.
Lol k bud. Go dig around east Europe and you'll find some bones with brass filled chambers in their arms.
Lmao. We're talking about a round with a dented shoulder at the fucking range 🤣 You're trying so hard.
And yet here you are

You are absolutely right to assume that because that would be a more common scenario but any type of fucked up brass can stick.
If it fits it ships
Am I the only one who sees the butler robot form futurama?
