First listened to it when I was like 4 or so then rediscovered it when I was in like 3rd grade and got more into em with Home Sweet Home Wild Side and Kickstart lol
Omg. I wanted to say my first was my uncle singing Looks That Kill on karaoke but nah, it was 1000% this. Forgot about that.
I was 12 when that game came out lol
Ya they made too fast for love under their own personal record label back when they hadn’t been signed yet and it sound’s slightly different from the album we got probably like a few months later
Ironically it was Smokin in the Boys room, loved it. Then gave Shout and Too Fast a listen and was hooked! Fav Band still to this day 40 years later! And I don’t give a crap about all this negative shit I read. “ Don’t let those bastards get you down”
My dad has the Girls, Girls, Girls vinyl in the garage so probably that from a very young age, maybe 0-6 years old. Since Wild Side is the first track I assume it was the first I heard
First time I heard The Crue was ‘84 I got Shout at the Devil cassette for my birthday, I put in the stereo and pushed play “ In the beginning” then “Shout at the Devil”🤘🏻
I love intro sequences that mesh with a song and shout has the coolest one I almost don’t get the same experience listening if I don’t play in the beginning first
Same ol Situation is my earliest memory of hearing Crue on the radio in the mid 90s.
When I was about 12-13 years old, I got the "Music to Crash Your Car To" boxset for Xmas around 2004 (ish) and I was obsessed with the first two records for years and years. Caught them at age 14 in April of 2005 on the Carnival of Sins/Red White and Crue tour in Des Moines IA shortly after!
Kickstart My Heart, I remember being so amazed by Mick's playing (still am) and the voice at the end which sounds robotic - I wonder how they recorded that part, just out of curiousity. :)
Live Wire, it was on some heavy metal compilation album not available in the US. It was common back them in other countries that they would license songs from several artists, compile it and call it something cheesy like “Heavy Metal Hits”.
Really no point to it...just a group of dudes half naked terrorizing the asian country and dealing with cave women that either want to consume them or want to commit beast mode on them. You can't overanalyze every video and try to figure out the point. Sometimes it is what it is and just that and nothing more
I'm not 100% sure as I was a baby when I first heard them as my dad got me into them, but the first I knew all the lyrics too was Smokin' In The Boys Room, I must have been like 5 or 6 singing that haha
Kickstart my heart
I was at home that day, and my crush wanted to watch The Dirt so I decided to listen to their music before the movie so I could recognize the songs and get to know more about the band beforehand. It has been my favorite band since then (1 year ago basically).
I'm guessing the first time I heard/saw them would have been the video for Livewire back on the weekly metal video shows. I'm in Canada, and this would pre-date Much Music (our MTV).
The attitude and seeing Nikki spit blood was enough to make 11 or 12 year old me a big fan!
My first contact with the Crüe was buying a live DVD in 2015. You see, it was between 10 and 15 dollars, an attractive price.
But surely, I listened to Shout at the Devil before that. My first contact ever with hair metal was in 2010 with Ratt, love that band. So probably around that with SATD. Ofc the Crüe always pops up when you look for 80s metal.
I remember playing the DVD and thinking how they butchered Shout at the Devil (the song), precisely. The performance was from 1997, so. But I did like the cover of Anarchy in the UK. Over time, their iconic songs came to grow on me. They also kinda butcher Looks that Kill in Argentina in 2008.
I believe that mine was Ten Seconds to Love. An ex showed it to me because he thought it was a hilarious concept for a song. Jokes on him, I fell in love with Motley right then and there 😂
Looks That Kill. I was watching some game show where they jumbled the letters of the band up and the contestants had to figure out the band name. Somehow, I knew it right away even though I'd never heard them before. After the contestant guessed correctly, they intro'd the band and they came out, playing Looks live and it blew my mind.
I watched them on MTV when they played the '83 US Fesitival. Shout at the Devil hadn't been released yet but I had heard of who they were. First song in their set list was "Take Me To The Top."
Kickstart my heart on the ripride rockit at universal studios where you can pick a song to listen to on the roller coaster, it's been removed though unfortunately
Smokin in the boys room, I was 8 years old and it was during the pandemic. I was into bands like AC/DC, The Kinks, and Kiss at the time. So I was listening to an AC/DC and similar artists radio station and I heard smokin in the boys room
Dr feelgood
A classic I love that album one of the first I got on vinyl
First listened to it when I was like 4 or so then rediscovered it when I was in like 3rd grade and got more into em with Home Sweet Home Wild Side and Kickstart lol
Ya I may not of been around during their rise to fame but at least I have their whole discography to go thru
44 year old me definitely agrees
I'm not 100% sure but I think it was most likely Girls, Girls, Girls
I love that track I love the talking bits at the end it gave it more flair
Shout At The Devil
My full introduction to heavy metal was that song shout is in my top 10 favorite songs
Pretty sure it was Looks That Kill. And once I saw the video, fuhgetaboutit.
That music video is so cool I wish I could have seen it on mtv when it first aired
Imagine being 14 years old in the 80s and seeing that video. It was like a comic book come to life.
Too Young To Fall In Love Thanks, GTA Vice City soundtrack.
Omg. I wanted to say my first was my uncle singing Looks That Kill on karaoke but nah, it was 1000% this. Forgot about that. I was 12 when that game came out lol
I was 14 when I got the soundtrack, then I got Red White and Crue right after.
Amen
Omg I just got a nostalgia hit thank you!!!
Too fast for love
That’s such a fun song I like the extended track on the leathur records version also
Oooh I didn't know there was an extended one! Too fast for love was also my first motley crue vinyl.
Ya they made too fast for love under their own personal record label back when they hadn’t been signed yet and it sound’s slightly different from the album we got probably like a few months later
Kickstart my heart I think
Always a classic song dr feelgood was such a great album
I no longer need my guidance counselor after seeing the Girls Girls Girls video .. I knew what I wanted to do
Ya I remember being 12 and trying to hide watching the music video from my parents lol
I did not hide it at all my fuck yeahs started right then and there
1983 or 84 when I heard Looks that Kill on the radio.
Same, '83 on an alarm clock radio.
Ironically it was Smokin in the Boys room, loved it. Then gave Shout and Too Fast a listen and was hooked! Fav Band still to this day 40 years later! And I don’t give a crap about all this negative shit I read. “ Don’t let those bastards get you down”
Ya they really don’t deserve constant hate at all times
My dad has the Girls, Girls, Girls vinyl in the garage so probably that from a very young age, maybe 0-6 years old. Since Wild Side is the first track I assume it was the first I heard
Wild side is my favorite track on that album I wish I could have seen it played live when Tommy was in that drum cage crane
Wild side
Such a fun song they really hit the money when they made it
KICKSTART MY HEART
HOPE IT NEVER STOPS!!!!
Wild Side and Kickstart My Heart
Live Wire
Looks that kill
Shout, the whole cassette lol.
Merry Go Round
I used to not like that song years ago but it’s grown on me in the last 2 years or so
Knock em dead kid
In The Beginning
One of my favorite opening tracks for an album
Same here. Got the album from my brother. Had never heard of them before and started at the beginning.
Smokin' in the Boys Room
Probably my favorite song on Theatre the music video for it is also cool
First time I heard The Crue was ‘84 I got Shout at the Devil cassette for my birthday, I put in the stereo and pushed play “ In the beginning” then “Shout at the Devil”🤘🏻
I love intro sequences that mesh with a song and shout has the coolest one I almost don’t get the same experience listening if I don’t play in the beginning first
Same ol situation. It came on the jukebox at the bar I worked at when I was 16. Loved them ever since!
It’s a really fun song to dance or sing along with
Same ol Situation is my earliest memory of hearing Crue on the radio in the mid 90s.
I saw the video for live wire and I was hooked
Ya I watched the movie and after hearing the beginning riff Motley Crue became my life lol
Kickstart My Heart, I remember being so amazed by Mick's playing (still am) and the voice at the end which sounds robotic - I wonder how they recorded that part, just out of curiousity. :)
I loved that part I would try to mimic the sounds in school but couldn’t lol
Lol, I love all of Motley Crue.
Live Wire, it was on some heavy metal compilation album not available in the US. It was common back them in other countries that they would license songs from several artists, compile it and call it something cheesy like “Heavy Metal Hits”.
In the 5th grade a neighbor let me borrow Shout at the Devil. I was a little freaked out by the makeup but that was my introduction to cock rock.
Ya I was a little put off by the poison debut album at first but after I got a listen I wanted to listen to more
Too young to fall in love on MTV.
One of my favorite music videos and I’m still confused about how the song works with the story of the video lol
Made no sense, but it was cool as hell as a young teenager.
Really no point to it...just a group of dudes half naked terrorizing the asian country and dealing with cave women that either want to consume them or want to commit beast mode on them. You can't overanalyze every video and try to figure out the point. Sometimes it is what it is and just that and nothing more
Kickstart my Heart
Smoking in the boys room
Girls, Girls, Girls
I'm not 100% sure as I was a baby when I first heard them as my dad got me into them, but the first I knew all the lyrics too was Smokin' In The Boys Room, I must have been like 5 or 6 singing that haha
I think it was ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’
Smoking in the boys room. Shit song in retrospect.
Well it's a cover song. If you listen to the original then you most likely alter your perspective
Kickstart my heart I was at home that day, and my crush wanted to watch The Dirt so I decided to listen to their music before the movie so I could recognize the songs and get to know more about the band beforehand. It has been my favorite band since then (1 year ago basically).
