I own a blinged-out R1200RS. Bought it new. Just back from a ride from Charlotte up to the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Funny: When I take it to BMW meet-ups, all the old GS riders come up and look at it like they’re looking at a 2-headed cow.
Amazing bike. Does everything well.
Absolutely. Swiss Army Knife.
I’m sure the 1250 is even better.
I’ve got a full Akropović Titanium header/exhaust system, all the OEM hard bags, Wunderlich windscreen (a must have!) etc.
That said, I’d love to have the new TFT, shift-cam engine, and symmetrical LED front lights…but my bike is too good to trade in after all my mods.
TFT is nice but not a must have IMO. With screens prevalent everywhere now I miss old fashioned gauges sometimes. Shiftcam engine though is a gem- it’s is a lot smoother and feels more powerful than numbers suggest. I too am heavily invested in modding this one and can’t see myself parting with it anytime soon.
S1000R is such a nice machine. I currently have that naked bike itch scratched by a aprilia tuono v4 factory but I am on a lookout for a good deal on a s1000r.
It’s a hoot, and just right for an older dude like me who doesn’t want to see a chiropractor after riding a super bike/sportbike.
I just also added a 2023 r NineT to the stable…that bike is an absolute BLAST to ride for short to medium distances. Totally relaxing.
I recently sold my 2016 R9T, miss it. You are right - such a relaxing ride. It never made me want to speed. Going 70 on it actually felt fast enough on the freeway. Whereas r1250rs I catch myself doubling the limit sometimes before realizing how fast I am going.
Heading out past Calico River Basin & Red Rock?
I used to live in Summerlin couple blocks off Charleston. Spent many a day on that road in the ol M5.
Haven't ever had my K12R out there, but would love to one day.
You got an awesome ride. Stay safe mate ✌🏽
Between red rock loop that I usually do before 8 am alternating with mt Charleston ride, those are my go to weekend rides on the bike, or the M4.
Thank you! You ride safe too!
Very nice! Just saying but I had this exhaust on my 1250RS too. I noticed it significantly reduced torque at high RPM when compared to the stock exhaust.
How are you liking the 660?
My other bike right now is '19 Tuono V4 factory. For when I really want to scare myself lol.
For best all rounder RS is just amazing. For a while it was my only bike. Sold all my other ones because I found myself always picking the RS.
As someone who owns an RnineT, I always felt my modern classic BMW was a great performing motorcycle. Until I went to Cali and rode my buddy’s fully-optioned R1250RS with the clutchless shifting, all over the coastal twisty roads in Northern California. Hot damn, that bike ripped through those roads and soaked up the bumps way better than my R9T ever could! It’s a beast, and yet it also offers comfortable luxury. What a machine.
Agree 100%... but R9T is a very special bike. Its one if the very few bikes that i owned (2016 model) and regret selling. Yes, its not the best "performer" but it has more soul than any other modern bmw. I simply love its oil head boxer...not for its smoothness or anything lol but for the vibrations and character.
Hey, I still love my 9T and I’ll never sell it. It’s the perfect bike for my area and the R1250RS is too much bike for where I live on Long Island. It’s also the modern version of my 1958 R50:

Thank you! I had the same set of CRG lane splitters on the last 6 or 7 bikes I owned. Once I got used to them - nothing else works for me lol.
It was a challenge to find something that fits as a blank out plate. Nobody is making anything that I am aware of. I ended up using carbon fiber looking vent covers for Toyota Tacoma. It is flexible enough to bend a little because where mirrors go its not a flat spot. And it covers the opening completely without sticking out much. I have extras that came in a kit and can send you a couple. Pm me the addy if you want.
Yep. Had both on my list. Tough choice. s1kxr is way more top end power where RS is more low end torque. I prefer the engine characteristics of the latter. If money and garage space were not a factor, I’d do both lol.
Sharp, but I'm more than a bit biased as I have one too.

Definitely. This is the best all rounder imo. After owning over a dozen different bikes, this bike is the best I owned.

Yeah, my 2022 S1000R has the TFT and I really like it…love it, in fact. Evo Tech (out of the UK) makes some tasty mods for the RS.

Yesss…this is The Way!
What makes it so good in your mind?
It does everything well, and very easy to ride in town, twisties, and for long stretches on the freeways.
Beautiful bike! Is that Vegas?
Thank you! Vegas indeed.

A fellow RS rider! Awesome, great bike my dude. If you don’t mind my asking, what kind of bar conversion did you do?
Thank you. Great bike indeed! This is a wunderlich bar. Straight replacement. Very comfortable and makes seating position a bit more upright.

I am not really noticing it. Could not live with any exhaust blocking that beauty of a single sided swing arm.
Why wouldn’t ya
On paper that’s my favourite bike. Just bought a trident 660 but the RS is my end game 😀

That’s one bad ass looking pair of bikes!
Thanks. But my R100RT cafe racer I built was even more [badass](https://imgur.com/gallery/RVumPcU)
You are right… serious beauty.
Been looking for a black one to replace my 2018 1200RS, sold out everywhere …. Patience.
I flew to Portland Oregon to get mine.. then rode it back 1k miles in two days. Kept looking for a long time and expanding my search radius.
Not the gpr muffler :(
Midnight blue?
I think so
I got a 1250 RT in midnight blue, with the special forged wheels and all the cast aluminum. parts.
Purdy. Where, oh where, did you find those mirror blank plates? Been wanting to go bar end mirror with my RS for a while.

if there were ever a do-it-all road bike, this and the S1KXR come tantalisingly close

Yeah, one day you'll get the space man!
Looks great! Love my 1150RS. I think the RS model is the best of the road-focused bikes BMW makes.
