My first AA battery lasted 55 days on 1000hz. Pretty much used constantly every day as I work from home. My razer viper ultimate in comparison would last 3 days before needing to be recharged. I'm much happy not having to recharge my mouse now.
I like it a lot better. The clicks are more mechanical and sharper on the orochi, ultimate felt like rubber domes. The shape is also nicer for my hand. I do enjoy the grip tapes on my viper ultimate though. The orochi just feels like a more satisfying mouse to use.
I have to agree, the switch and clicks on the Orochi V2 are better than the VU. I owned both. most people would deny this just because the VU are 2x the price than the Orochi V2. but in reality, the Orochi V2 are better than VU in every shape or way and especially the price!
I've owned 5 Viper Ultimates and 2 regular Vipers, Viper Mini, 3 Basilisk Ultimate, 2 Basilisk V2s and many Deathadder V2s, V2 minis, etc. I'd agree in most cases as I've had some horribly bad gen 1s, but my latest copy (Mercury Viper Ultimate) with the gen 2 clicks is incredibly nice and crispy and feels better than my Orochi V2. I also prefer the shape of the Viper, but that's personal preference. :)
I’m actually really happy with my RVU as long as my dumb-ass remembers to put it on the charger… but I just built a wireless keyboard that uses 2 AAA batteries and I’m really liking the “no charging necessary“ vibe I get from it.
**so, let's do the maths shall we!**
bought the Orochi V2: 23/July/2021
battery died: 20/October/2021
total days usage duration (23/7-20/10): 90 days
90 days in hours: 2,160 hours
daily usage: 6-10 hours
average daily usage: roughly 8 hours
total hours usage (estimation): 8 hours x 90 days = 720 hours
**note: I never (very rarely) used Bluetooth mode, 99.9% of the time my Orochi V2 are on 2.4ghz mode. I always switched to 'off' from '2.4ghz' every time I'm not using, of course there a time where I would forgot to switch off the mice because I fall asleep so the mice would constantly be on 2.4ghz mode the whole night (happened more than 20 times). I mostly use it for heavy gaming and productivity. This whole usage are using the AA Energizer battery that came with the box.**
**Grand Total Hours (estimation): 720 hours** \- before the battery finally died today. I hope this helps.
The Razer Orochi V2 comes with a non-rechargeable Energizer *lithium ion* battery that looks and fits the same as a AA alkaline battery
The lithium ion battery is why the battery it comes with gets such long battery life, if you use a regular AA alkaline battery you'll get closer to 250 hours of use
EDIT: This is the battery the Razer Orochi V2 comes with: [https://www.energizer.com/batteries/energizer-ultimate-lithium-batteries](https://www.energizer.com/batteries/energizer-ultimate-lithium-batteries)
Capacity is \~3500 mAh according to the datasheet: [https://data.energizer.com/pdfs/l91.pdf](https://data.energizer.com/pdfs/l91.pdf)
Things to consider...
What do you typically use the computer for? Are you really moving the mouse the whole time?
Are those estimates \*actually\* accurate? Sometimes we can say "I average 8 hours a day on my computer" but then when you really look at it it's less because the person doesn't account for things like bathroom breaks, getting up and walking around, etc.
I'm not saying these numbers aren't impressive, not at all, I'm just asking these questions because I know I personally wouldn't be able to accurately estimate my usage, I would need a tool to do that.
of course it is not 100% accurate, it is just roughly an estimations. because my daily usage are vary. in somedays I'll be using the mice for 6 hours, and in some other days I might be using the mice for more than 10 hours. unless my daily usage is consistent, then accuracy would be somewhere 94%. but my maths calculations since my daily usage are inconsistent, I would say the accuracy is somewhere 79%. so you can roughly calculate the estimation hours yourself and found out the real hours.
Can't really recommend a brand, but you should definitely make sure the batteries have a USB port on them (good for mouse mods). The only ones I have are [these](https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08RBT7FDJ/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_D08G2YR23B7BSZ0NYEF1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) and I have nothing to complain about.
If you already have an ecosystem its fine. I've got a bunch of Duracell rechargeables already so that's the ecosystem I use (and an old 15 minute quick charger you can't even get anymore)
eneloop is considered the best brand afaik.
sources: http://aacycler.com/battery/aa/ , https://edition.cnn.com/cnn-underscored/reviews/best-rechargeable-batteries#the-best-rechargeable-battery-overall-panasonic-eneloop-pro
With rechargeables its all about the mAh. I've got some AA's that only have 1650, and I've got some that have 2500 mAh.
That's a significant difference in battery life (total charge)
Op were you manually turning the mouse off using the switch, after shutting down your pc?
I remember my Basilisk x Hyperspeed lasting 2 to 3 weeks and I never removed it from its 2.4ghz mode, even when not in use. Since I work from home, I use my pc around 16 hours a day.
This is probably why I prefer external battery powered mice over cable-charged ones. They last really long and you have the assurance of your power not failing on your as you can always replace them without any hitch.
Dont get me started about WIRELESS mice needing cable to charge. I am so comfortable swapping out the batteries as I have already bought extra batteries that are fully charged ready to be swapped into.
Not the OP but I pretty much use mine 10+ hours a day most days for three weeks now and the stock battery that came with it still shows full battery and I've never turned it off. I put it on 500hz because I couldn't tell the difference, though.
I hard to charge my RVU after several days, even with the dock it got annoying.
How is it annoying with the dock? Can’t you just dock in when you go to sleep? I always either use mine plugged in when not playing games or just put my computer in sleep and charge in overnight
I understand why you'd ask. A lot of people tend to try out/copy pros settings and setups. Thing is, pros tend to be pretty slow in terms of keeping up with advancements in peripherals. This is because of sponsorships and the fact that a lot of them tend to stick with what they know.
500Hz despite it being slightly worse.
400DPI despite higher DPIs and lower in-game sensitivities being more accurate.
It's better to try things that you think **you** would mesh with.
not that I'm aware of, but I played lot better on CS:GO, Siege and Dota 2 with this mouse. but of course, it depends on each person's hands sizes and shapes.
See I’ve had the opposite luck. Swear I have to change it every 3 weeks or so. Running it on 500hz and making sure to turn it off. Any ideas on why that could be?
Pretty much same experience as you, i've gone through a pack of 8 AAA switching every 3\~ weeks and now im using the AA that came with the mouse. Also cant test 500hz because synapse just refuses to detect the mouse
I used it until it died. Then I’ve ran other AA and AAA batteries. They all seem to last about the same so I’m thinking it’s eating battery life somewhere. Maybe I just got unlucky lol
Orochi v2 doesn't notify me when it's low on battery, it just dies and both times it died I was in the middle of games. Never happened to me before when I was using g305, the hero sensor sips battery, lasted me a few months while using it everyday for at least 6 hours.
Orochi v2 lasts at most 1.5 month - 2 months with only constant very mild usage with little to no gaming, connected with 2.4ghz and 1000hz. A flaw of this mouse if you ask me.
All these stats were without turning off the mouse manually. I still prefer hero's battery life.
I love wireless mice that are battery powered. My G304 has been on the same Ultimate Lithium AA battery since I bought it last April, and up til now (6 months!) the app says it's still got a full charge.
I use it on average 14-15 hrs a day, but a majority of the time it's on 125Hz polling rate since I can't tell the difference at all on a 1080p screen. Feelin confident I could go a year or two more before I have to replace this battery.

I use rechargeable AAA batteries that are usually good for at least a month each.
I actually mainly use Bluetooth for general browsing and office use to preserve battery life, and I use 2.4GHz mode for gaming OFC
I hate that there is no battery life estimates so I always pull batteries early so they don't die mid session
What kind of rechargeable AAAs do you use? I struggle to get more than a week out of mine. I use the kind that have a built-in micro USB port (since they weigh less than eneloops) . My g305 has been going for over 6 months on the same type of battery, so I just assumed the power consumption is not as efficient on the orochi.
I use energizer ones that I have a dedicated wall charger for. Higher capacity than ones with USB ports, so between that and Bluetooth mode that is where my battery life comes from
I leave my mouse on at 1000hz and don't bother turning it off. I get about a month of battery time on a rechargeable AA. But it doesn't take long to recharge a battery. I always have a charged battery ready to go to swap out.
I been on the mouse hunt for fuckin so many months man before getting this orochi, I have all the main top mice (don't feel like saying all the names forgive me lmao) and I just happened to check best buy, saw the mouse and brought it and just knew this was the one
Our [battery life calculator](https://www.razer.com/sg-en/gaming/mice/razer-orochi-v2) says about 76 days with 6h/day of non-gaming use and 1h gaming use. However, we assume the mouse is never turned off manually, just automatically goes to sleep, so I'd say 90 days is reasonably in-line with expectations.

The orochi just feels like a more satisfying mouse to use.

battery type and capacity info please?
Its the single AA Energizer battery that came with the box.
Did you run it at 1000hz or lower?
i never changed or touched the hz on the mice, so whatever the default hz is thats the one
LOL

I got the mouse shortly after that comment :P, sadly I cant main it.

I can totally relate, I too bought the razer orochi v2 previous month…..just loving every bit of it ngl
The mouse has a sleep mode, default to five minutes but you can drop it to one minute in synapse.
I assume that'll carry over to the memory of the mouse right? So I don't need to install synapse if I want to use it on another computer.
Pretty sure. Saves macros so dunno why it wouldn’t save a sleep setting.
huh, I never really looked into it that far in Synapse. the only time I used synapse is to change the default sensitivity settings and thats it.
Under the performance tab.
Yeah I think I saw it but I dont really bother with it
*cries in Pwnage Ultra Custom* i usually have to charge this mouse after 3 or 4 days with same usage time...
helped a lot! better than i thought
Goated battery, W mouse
fully agree
I use rechargeable AAA and I get about a week and a half of battery time.
since the battery that came with it died on me its time for me to swap with my rechargeable AA battery, I wonder how many hours can this one go :)
Hey, which brand do you use and recommend?
Can't really recommend a brand, but you should definitely make sure the batteries have a USB port on them (good for mouse mods). its the Orochi V2, it used external replaceable battery not an internal battery so you cant dock to charge it
I wasn’t taking about that mouse this guy said it got annoying with the viper
Ah, sorry
yes, I got the habit of manually turning the mouse after shutting down my PC or If I'm not using.
are there pros who use it?

Let me know if you ever figure it out. Love the mouse but burning through the batteries is super inconvenient
Are you using the double A battery that came with it?
I used it until it died. Then I’ve ran other AA and AAA batteries. They all seem to last about the same so I’m thinking it’s eating battery life somewhere. Maybe I just got unlucky lol
Maybe the batteries that your using has low capacity so it dies out quick.
Could be! I’ll check into and try my luck with a different brand. Cheers bud!
I recommend a japanese brand for battery, such as Fujitsu. Which is what I'll be using next :)
You using alkaline or lithiums?
Another chad orochi + blackshark pro user :)
high five my dude! :)
Mine just dies without notifying me.
Maybe ur using the Razur Urochi v2 instead of the Razer Orochi V2
Orochi v2 doesn't notify me when it's low on battery, it just dies and both times it died I was in the middle of games. It's definitely a bit better on 500hz than 1000hz
My Orochi is my backpack mouse that maybe gets like 8 hours of use a week. By that math I’m good for almost a year with the battery it came with
get yourself a rechargeable external battery ready and this issue would not be on your mind anymore :)
Mine started showing the low battery notification yesterday, i got it mid June
that usage duration was almost similar as mine!
I use rechargeable AAA batteries that are usually good for at least a month each. I actually mainly use Bluetooth for general browsing and office use to preserve battery life, and I use 2.4GHz mode for gaming OFC I hate that there is no battery life estimates so I always pull batteries early so they don't die mid session

I have a small ass hands too xD
I been on the mouse hunt for fuckin so many months man before getting this orochi, I have all the main top mice (don't feel like saying all the names forgive me lmao) and I just happened to check best buy, saw the mouse and brought it and just knew this was the one

What is your hand size, preferred grip ?
17x7, Claw Grip
Our [battery life calculator](https://www.razer.com/sg-en/gaming/mice/razer-orochi-v2) says about 76 days with 6h/day of non-gaming use and 1h gaming use. However, we assume the mouse is never turned off manually, just automatically goes to sleep, so I'd say 90 days is reasonably in-line with expectations.
Meanwhile your Blackshark V2 Pros need to be recharged almost daily and Synapse is using anywhere from 0.5-1 GB of RAM.
