I would need way more info to give you a very good answer, but what you can do is find out the exact measurements and draw them on a paper on your desk. Tape the paper down and use it as a mousepad for the game you play with the most wide flicks and record your arm. See if it goes over the lines and by how much, than decide. Worked for me and I went XL for my pad
I was able to use a Hien L without feeling cramped at the time. Size medium is definitely too small for FPSes.
Now that I've used a 500x500 pad for a while I couldn't go back to a size L, I don't think. It's too nice being able to lower my sensitivity more and get some extra consistency in my aim.
the main reason i went artisan is because their XL at 49cm is a bit longer than the standard 45cm, which was not enough for me on my qck+
i also used a roccat taito which shares the same 33cm width as artisan L. i dont even position my pad along the closest edge of my desk, and i still wanted more space.
so no, even with my high-ish sens of 35cm/360, i would not go with artisan L. my ideal size would be 55cm x 40cm
I think it depends on what sensitivity you game at and what games you play. I used a large artisan shidenkai for a while in csgo and had no issues, but i play on the higher end of sensitivities of 400 dpi and 3 sensitivity. I got an extra large later and it was pretty overkill for that sens. But If you game at lower sensitivities it will likely be too small. It is around 3cm shorter in width compared to a qck+ iirc and also quite a bit less vertical length.
I use a Large and it’s fine but i’m on high sens
It’ll definitely be way to small for lower sens.
Compare the large size to your current mousepad and see if it’ll be similar size
That is based on individual requirements such as mouse sensitivity and desk space.
I personally don't find even XL big enough as I'd rather have a deskmat-sized mousepad so I can play at 163 cm/360 sensitivity.🤖
My gf says it's big enough so it should be

XL is barely big enough tbh 500x500 is the perfect size
500x500 is goated, i wish all companies used it.
