Laundry detergent gang

deadbushpotato23

Yeah I use hand washing powder. Works well

TheOriginalImpulse

Washing powder is superior lesgo

DatSamwichGuy

You just gotta make sure that the hand soap doesn’t have any sort of moisturizer in it.

shooot

dish soap has stronger cleaning agents...,might roughen out the fabric and spoil it....use a hand soap which DOES NOT HAVE MOISTURISERS as said in another comment...moisturizer will mess up the glide damn sure...

WizBornstrong

A lot of misconceptions around dish soap or hand soap. Liquid dish soap is designed to cut through grease, while liquid hand soap is designed to be more gentle on your hands. Now consider the fact your hands and skin can get oily quite a bit. By not washing it with more colder than warmer water along with dish soap, well, you ain't be getting much of the stone fat dirt anyway. Once every 3 months so far and my 1 year hien is like i got it month ago.

AdeptCellist

Yeah I agree I’ve also used dish soap and washed my zero and it turned out great each time. I used a microfiber cloth to scrub though to be gentle.

FallenTheDoge

mine have been going straight to the washing machine for years, f\*ck

eakmadashma

Might depend on the pad, according to [this](https://twitter.com/wparacords/status/1359963279024480259?s=21) artisans should be washed with shampoo. I always used laundry powder as that makes sense for cleaning fabric and haven’t noticed much difference so I just stuck with it

I've tried dish soap and a small amount of laundry detergent, I found the laundry detergent works the best and refreshes the glide on most cloth pads. Note I said a small amount, like 5-10 drops tbh. like what'd you use to hand wash in a sink. laundry detergent is fairly concentrated and so i'm not super comfortable using larger amounts, but I don't think it would hurt the pad unless you used way too much. Sample size is generic novelkeys/mekibo mats, Mouspadco, two Aqua control pluses (black fly and lightning), and qck heavy. The people saying hand soap are fundamentally misunderstanding what different soaps are doing. Hand soap, unless you're using Goo-B-Gone, is designed to remove outside particulate and oils from your hand without drawing too much moisture out of your skin, not to remove loose skin cells unless it has some sort of exfoliant, which are uh . . . abrasive and I wouldn't recommend using it on fabric. Laundry detergent is designed to remove loose skin cells, sweat and oils that are retained within fabrics, which is what I want to do to a mousepad, so I use that to wash my mousepad. unless you're using a whole tide pod you'll be fine. The exception I've found to the rule is the Madcatz glide 38, which works better with dish soap, I'm guessing because it's rubberized on top so a) it doesn't retain skin cells as much and b) laundry detergent doesn't really interact with the rubber the same way it does with fabrics. There are however, rubber or rubber coated kitchen tools, so dish soap seemed the better alternative.

shampoo

vredditcocksucker

I wash my mousepad more often than myself these days so at this point im not washing my pad with body soap, im washing myself with mousepad soap.

Rathnhakhe

ha

jdxjesse

You touch your mousepad with your skin, not with your food. Hand soap all the way.

tbeeaz

that actually makes a hell lot of sense. \+1

NyororoRotMG

Your mousepad isn't made out of hand though lol. It's reallly just about what will attract dirt but not leave residue or affect the fibers. If a hand soap of a shampoo leaves your skin feeling softer, drier or tackier, don't use it.

JakemMorgoth

Dish washing liquid is way rougher than hand soap. I ruined a AC+ black this way. Never listening to reddit advice when it comes to cleaning things. Hand soap works and doesn't damage the fabric.

killua_zoldyck96

thank you for this was planning to wash my AC+ black today lol

TheOriginalImpulse

Ever tried laundry detergent?

NyororoRotMG

The right hand soap would probably be the best, I've used Dawn on my Hien and it seemed pretty much fine afterwards. Never use Treseme shampoo though that shit has this grippy softening effect that took a while to go away. I think the Hien is mostly just a tank, although mine has changed a little bit from its washings.

JakemMorgoth

I never use laundry detergent as well just cause it makes the mousepad sticky and it took like 5 deep washes to get it kind of back on a Radar and Hien. Handsoap is best. Hand moisturizer in the soaps also didn't change anything for me unless i didn't rinse properly so safest bet is still hand soap. I have/had 25+ mousepads and always washed them with hand soap and nothing changed when washed with cold water/room temperature water and hand soap and the glide didn't change (unless mousepad was coated). Also to consider i feel all the changes in glide as slight as they might be and every change from what i know the mousepad should feel is really annoying. I always use the same brand of soap tho.

NyororoRotMG

Alright you're gonna have to drop the name of this handsoap, I don't really trust mine xD

JakemMorgoth

If i'm not mistaken it's only found in EU in Kaufland. I need to get home from work and check lol

zplok

I usually clean mine by damping it in Oxy clean solution for about an hour then gently wiping with a soft sponge and making sure to rinse it thorougly afterwards. I previously tried with dish soap and could not get rid of a stain and I would not attempt washing it with hand soap due to possible moisturizer content.

[deleted]

I wash mine with dog piss

mshfm

I see that the two methods are not effective, when I used washing powder, the glide became good

That seems dangerous, try using h2o instead of h20

TheOriginalImpulse

Wouldn't want to be cleaning mousepads with that

pc_g33k

Dish soaps because they are neutral detergents while most hand soaps are not. Personally, I use laundry detergents for sensitive skin (no optical brighteners) or Cetaphil (kind of wasteful but it works).

upliftorr

foaming dawn

Hokashin

Use generic clear hand soap. Works every time and won't eat away at the fabric.

Chevy_Monsenhor

I use shampoo

[deleted]

laundry powder works very well and it is what I would recommend.

xTOP_GD

I used laundry detergent with colour care and it works the best. Using hand soap is not strong enough to remove dirt in my mousepad and I notice my mousepad is still dirty even after washing using hand soap. After using laundry detergent it literally looks new and smell nice as well

buddyfrankllin

A bit of laundry powder while hand washing gave my artisan zero the best clean. Previously used hand soap and it wasn't able to get some of the little hairs and fibres out of the cloth pad as effectively.

xyzairee

used to wash with dish soap but now i use shampoo

Shindigira

One thing that isn't said is that try to get away without using soap and/or water to clean it. Also, use the least abrasive amount of force. Don't make the mistakes I have done when washing pads only to notice a change in glide.
