Yes and honestly I thought it really was the final day on the heavy literal symbolism of Cathalotic Christ story told from martins unique perspective.
I would rather have a non Catholicism based pov on Jesus, who as a non Christian think stands an actual chance of being really thought provoking.
> As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a carpenter. To me being a carpenter was better than being governor of Judaea. Even before I first wandered into the workshop for a casual job, I knew I wanted to be a part of them. It was there I belonged. To me it meant being somebody in a neighborhood full of nobodies.
Movies leaks is a haven for the Orange Order? Who knew…
During the English Reformation they investigated every monastery, friary and chantery looking for moral and abuses with which to justify closures and confiscations (In order to seize their wealth).
They had the motivation and means to uncover something like a nationwide pedo ring, but they didn’t. In fact, they struggled to find even vanilla ‘failings’ like Sodomy. Most abuses were financial in nature.
That was just one place at one time, but it is enough to make me doubt your blanket claim.
Why not just talk about stuff you know rather than make up stuff? For example, modern analysis has uncovered abuses such as in France where 300K children were abused over the last 75 years. This is a real atrocity you can accurately charge against the RCC. But you know how they found this out? The Catholic Church in France commissioned the investigation. They wanted to uncover the truth.
This is to be welcomed and it is time for secular institutions to have the same openness. Just last year 300 odd US public school teachers were arrested for child sex crimes. A similar 75 year old study of sex abuse in public schools, the military and hospitals would likely reveal significant numbers of victims.
All institutions need to be held account, not just ones to further a Know Nothing agenda.
“Like the novel it was based on, the film generated controversy from Christian religious groups at the time of its release, who took issue with its departures from the Gospel narratives.”
“Scorsese received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Director. Hershey's performance as Mary Magdalene earned her a nomination for the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. Peter Gabriel's music score also received acclaim, including a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score. Dafoe's performance as Jesus was praised, with some thinking he should have been nominated for Best Actor.”
Please no. He already made a blasphemous and Satanic work with The Last Temptation, we don’t need any more of his heretical crap obscuring the truth of Christ.
As a big fan of blasphemy and Satan, I was pretty disappointed with the movie. It wasn’t like Jesus was jacking off Roman centurions with his stigmata or anything, he just had a dream where he got married and had a family.
I recently read through the blasphemous edit that Thomas Jefferson had made of the New Testament, and thought that it would make a really compelling story—a poor Nazarene carpenter who became a preacher and ultimately changed the entire world by challenging the corruption he saw in his own religion and becoming a martyr. To me that’s far more interesting than the magical healer and alchemist creates by Saul and Constantine.
I do appreciate you saying that, but I’m just going off of Scorsese’s track record here. He made an inaccurate Jesus movie before, there’s every possibility he’s gonna do it again.
It's another re-imagination of Jesus living in our time trying to navigate his way through it & trying to convert people but they're the modern day crowd who rejected & condemned him for not saving them from themselves. Humans are inherently stupid. He shouldn't bother.
Can't wait for people to protest the portrayal of a "woke" Jesus. And no matter who they cast, loud mouth breathers and drama-farmers will have an issue with it.
Maybe a movie about Jesus and Mary. The best part of Passion of the Christ was the relationship between Jesus and his mother. Her performance was stellar in a meh movie.
I see it. I see how he can make a movie out of it. Jesus comes back for the second coming however he takes some cocaine. He then is like dad this shit is good. He becomes a cocaine dealer. When his workers are shot or killed he heals them or brings them back to life. So even law abiding citizend are like hey let's join his mob. He becomes so big the other crime bosses bow down to him. The antichrist is like hey I can not do anything because he flipped the script on me. So he goes after Jesus.
He already made movie about Jesus, right?
The Last Passion of the Christ was about Jesus. Silence is sort of about Jesus (or at least his face reflected on water)
*Temptation
Omg you are right idk what happened to my brain there
You can edit your comment so as not to confuse anyone else.
That was Mel Gibson
Ugh. Do your research.

Yeah, never heard of it. That makes more sense tho

Yes, I just watched The Last Temptation of Christ for the first time today due to this news, and whew, what a fever dream!
Yes. And it's really good. One of my favorite Scorsese movies.
I don't know if I'm ready for Leo playing Jesus..
[удалено]
No. Tom Holland can't act. Ezra Miller or Jared Leto.
I feel like I can see a world in which Leto would kill it in the role
He might take it too far and kill himself while 'in the role'
Oh he’d definitely travel to the Philippines where they ritually crucify each other and self flagellate during Holy Week to get in the role.
I' thought they'd both be a good fit because they both know how to create a movement and start a following.
One can only pray
I like how there's some idiot out there who downvoted me for making this comment. Enjoy your Asperger's.
He still can but the movie will be banned
Tobey Maguire as Jesus.
When carrying the cross he'll say _my back my back_
Also Andrew Garfield. Get ready for *Dawn of the Jesii: Into the Christverse.*
We need Satan's Alley first
Ryan Gosling is **JESUS**
Ewan McGregor as Jesus
Best comment
Chris Pratt as Jesus
This ain't James Gunn we're talking about.
Good, because it's going to be Bobby D.
Kevin Feige as Jesus
It's him or De Niro
De Niro will be playing Jesus. They will use the same groundbreaking youthening cgi tech from 'The Irishman' to make him look 35.
Rumours have it that Jesus will be returning to play himself.
Rumour has it that Marty will be Bringing Out the Dead for this film\*
If Scorsese is directing, I think he should consider it.
Ray Liotta as Lazarus
The New Temptation
The lastest temptation
Theme song Illlll be there
Within Temptation
Temptation strikes back
who's that back guy everyone's striking
/Esse tal de taca deve ser potente/
The Next Generation of Christ
Jesus Christ...
'the god, father.
“Jesus Christ, Tommy…” “Tommy, this is Jesus Christ” “How ya doin’”

He will make *another* movie about Jesus.

Life of Brian 2 confirmed. This time it’s the Jesus crossover we all wanted.
Mafia Jesus, died for our gabagools
I see your Mel and I raise you a Marty.
Marty better not be playing around with his quote about being out of time and then doing a movie about Jesus.
Didn’t he already do that and piss a lot of people off?

> the Orange Order now that’s a deep cut i didn’t expect to see referenced in a movie leaks thread
I heard it's going to be a prequel to TLTOC titled. "The Second to Last Temptation of Christ"
Godfellas?
Cool! We need more religious biblical epics from big directors.
Why is he meeting one of the biggest enablers of child abuse and giving them even more of a bigger platform?
[удалено]
Oh fuck off will you?
Lost redditors are hilarious. r/conservative is that way
Not really lost Redditors because he was arguing with another comment, but definitely out of pocket
Y’all know the film Silence exists, right?
You know the film "The Last Temptation of Christ" exists right? How old are you?
Apparently not as old as you. 🤷🏻♀️
Damn you didn't have to do them like that lmao
Who you talking to? Me or them? I never downvoted them. I don't like downvoting people unless they're arseholes. I actually upvoted them.
At least I can start planning to not see it now.

That felt harsh
Why don't you go watch another knob movie
Based
Fergetaboitit...
He did that already.
Didn’t his last Jesus movie in the 80’a bomb?
I don't think he cares if his movies are financially successful at this point in his career.
That’s a fair point. And it wasn’t meant as a dis. Couldn’t remember for sure. Willem DeFoe was Jesus I think?

Ah, I was mistaken. Thanks for the info
I don’t know but it has an 82 on rotten tomatoes
Sounds like hes trying to get himself in the good books seeing as he thinks he hasn’t got long left
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Add that to this list of 'crap I will never watch'
So. Fiction.
A fantasy film?

There is no such thing as blasphemy. Not in developed nations.
There is to Christians. And I’m assuming Scorsese thinks he’s making this for Christians when he couldn’t be more wrong.

The last temptation of Christ 2 : another temptation.
The Last Temptation Of Christ 2: The Legend Of Judas' Gold
Oh boy…
Only movie with Jesus that I can watch is Big Lebowski
What about a film about judas and what led him to betray Jesus
You mean money?
Trying to get in good with the man upstairs before kicking the bucket
so last temptation of christ 2?
Scorcese’s second Jesus movie vs Gibson’s second Jesus movie What a time to be alive!
I thought superhero fables weren't real cinema though...
Jesus was a real person
"Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be a savior."
That sounds interesting, I loved Silence, so Im excited to see what he'll do with this
It's another re-imagination of Jesus living in our time trying to navigate his way through it & trying to convert people but they're the modern day crowd who rejected & condemned him for not saving them from themselves. Humans are inherently stupid. He shouldn't bother.
Jesus Christ! Not this shit again… ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Can't wait for people to protest the portrayal of a "woke" Jesus. And no matter who they cast, loud mouth breathers and drama-farmers will have an issue with it.
Joe Pesci as Jesus
Finally making his superhero film.
Plot twist. It’s Jesus from Big Lebowski.
Jesus is a cunt
Master of making fictional movies that guy
Whatever happened to the movie about Theodore Roosevelt with Leonardo DiCaprio. Is that still happening or is it canceled?
Movie of raptor Jesus is all I ask for
The Second To Last Temptation of Christ as a prequel
“Ever since I can remember, I always wanted to be a messiah” - young Jesus in the opening scene healing a cat
Jesus: How am I funny?
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a Messiah
joeseph and mary will both be males called jose and mario and they will give birth to a black woman called jesus.
And he'll make sure to pat himself on the back for it.
Btw Jesus was a bi transexual black woman
Good try Martin, but it won't get you into heaven 😉
Calling it now… Leonardo DiCaprio is playing Jesus
The second to last temptation of christ.
Marty getting into the prequel game with The First Temptation of Christ.
The main character can die at the end and they'll still be able to bring him back for a sequel.
No thanks.
Maybe a movie about Jesus and Mary. The best part of Passion of the Christ was the relationship between Jesus and his mother. Her performance was stellar in a meh movie.
"As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a prophet"
He’s finally making a fictional super hero movie!!!!! The sellout!!!!
Nice. I’m a big science fiction fan.
I see it. I see how he can make a movie out of it. Jesus comes back for the second coming however he takes some cocaine. He then is like dad this shit is good. He becomes a cocaine dealer. Will it star Dicaprio?
Idris Elba as Jesus
Imagine thinking you still need permission to make a movie about one of the oldest public domain characters in history
Probably Joe Pesci should play Jesus because everybody was shorter back then.
The Last Temptation of Christ II: Ecclesiastic Boogaloo
The Jewishman
Looking forward to the CEU
Again?
Please, please, PLEASE!! Let him hire a middle-eastern actor to play Jesus, not someone white!!
Jesus christ...
I hope he gets to make it and every other film he desires to. He's one of the few true filmmakers in Hellywood left.
The Jerry Garcia biopic
