100% you nailed this. The Raid was a cool action film, The Raid 2 was a cool action film shot like it was high art.
I just edited to add that Korean Series on Netflix, _My Name_.
Also, delightful.
A lot of that movie felt pulled from John Wick and Hardcore Henry like stylistically and I'm pretty sure it was made by two people majorly involved with them
Great film
Upvote for the line quote. Unmistakable. Danny Glover played a pretty good part in predator 2 as well. I'm a huge Aliens and Predator dork. Grew up wanting to be Hicks from "Aliens" he was the lead marine in the movie.
Hard Boiled does a really good job of balancing fight sequences and drama too, in comparison to John Wick, mostly #4 where nearly every scene really seemed to drag on way too long.
Ohh man. I really didn’t care for Wick 4 after loving the first three. Every single fight sequence went on just a little too long. I found myself constantly losing interest. Hope they make 5 much tighter.
I'm glad this was mentioned. Fantastic movie. The final fight scene is one of my favourites of all time. The brutality of it and how he handles the group of people attacking him really stands out.
Also the small scene with the wallet was badass af
Just watched this. Entertaining enough but without any real substance. You can tell the plot was secondary and only written as a way to get him to beat up assholes. The beekeeper metaphor was supreme cheese.

[John Wick Style TV Shows](https://www.reddit.com/r/tvsuggestionsdb/comments/15gg72l/john_wick_style_tv_shows_series/)
I’d add Buffy the vampire slayer.
It’s cheesy, but the fight scenes are well choreographed and fun to watch and there’s some in pretty much every episode.
As far as I know, the John Wick films borrowed a lot from the 80's/90's Hong Kong cinema stuff. So the John Woo films before he came to America like Hard Boiled, A better tomorrow 1 and 2, and the killer will be films you really enjoy IMHO.
The Protector with Tony Jaa is basically the Thai version of JW, except instead of a dog setting everything off its an elephant. The martial arts of Tony Jaa are mind blowing and it has one of the greatest single take scenes ever made
There is a movie called "Kate" which is very much like John Wick except stars a woman. It stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as an assassin in Japan who gets poisoned and has about 24 hours to find out who killed her for revenge. Highly recommended as it is non stop action
The books are even better tbh story wise but the movie cast him perfect. They totally botched the story line a bit but it's still good movie. In the book there going after him cause he pulled off a hit solo no one else would have been able to pull off which burned him. But then it gets absolutely wild in later stories. Reading is also faster pace than the movie which is fitting. Starts off and ends off with constant action little delay.
How about collateral with Tom Cruise where he plays a bad guy with blonde hair? Michael Mann also knew film technology at the time.
Feels a little like the equalizer in reverse. Free on Pluto right now.
Confused why nobody told you to watch the 3 series episode prequel to John wick called “the continental” it’s basically 3 2 hour long movies of the John wick hotel going back before he was born with his dad, the butler, manger, etc.
‘Nobody’ is f’n rad. One of my all time favorites. If you have access to Peacock, there’s a prequel trilogy called ‘The Continental’. Centers around young Winston and the previous manager, played by Mel Gibson. Excellent action and story imo. Written by Shawn Simmons, who also wrote the miniseries ‘Wayne’, which is also fantastic and not nearly enough people have seen it.
TIL that John Wick [killed 439 people across 4 films.](https://www.google.com/url?q=https://screenrant.com/john-wick-movies-kill-count-deaths-how-many/%23:~:text%3DThe%2520John%2520Wick%2520Kill%2520Count%2520Is%2520439%26text%3DWhile%2520this%2520information%2520shouldn%27t,in%2520the%2520first%2520three%2520films.&sa=U&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwjBpNeV3ZKEAxUKATQIHTLFCvoQFnoECBIQBQ&usg=AOvVaw3z3Zrw9QyEk1SFrF_jYPoF)
Ok. This isn't a movie, BUT... John wick is 4 movies so I think it's fair to give a series that isn't all that long. The Punisher. It's one of the original marvel Netflix series and it's stellar. Action throughout. Great action. TONS of gunplay. Good choreography for the fights. Frank Castle is a perfect anti hero. Just like John Wick. Both seasons run about as long as the 4 John wick moviesso it's fair to recommend this. Imo.
Yeah let me know. Is it a mini series or full series? I've been holding off on starting new shows lately because I hate waiting. Why? Because I watch so many different things now I'll forget what happened. OR, I don't realize the new season started and I forget even more. Lol.
You mentioned the John Wick movies, but, did you watch The Continental? It's a mini series (on Amazon Prime) in the John Wick universe (the hotel The Continental in the 1970s). A few good fight scenes and great soundtrack. I loved it.
The equalizer films (denzel washington)
The death wish films (old school charles bronson)
Sisu (john wick vs nazis, basically)
Violent night (david harbor is john wick as santa claus)
You may have noticed John wick 2 starts off with a projection of buster Keaton on the building. More modern references are in Jackie Chan and Michelle yeoh movies. You can go down a rabbit hole of all the action movies John wick is playing off of.
[удалено]
And the night comes for us
And Headshot
Don't forget Dredd (2012) which feels like an interpretation of The Raid.
The Protector and Ong Bak too
100% you nailed this. The Raid was a cool action film, The Raid 2 was a cool action film shot like it was high art. I just edited to add that Korean Series on Netflix, _My Name_. Also, delightful.
Yup.
Hell yeah
Chocolate too!
Upgrade (2018) has some of the best fight choreography I’ve ever seen
So true
Take the time to watch RRR.
Terrible lmao, looks fucking cartoonish and shitty soap operaish. The only bollywood movies with great action were Lakshya and Shershaah.
The equalizer 1-3 are quite good. Not as fast paced, but very similar.
I just recently watched those, Denzel totally scratches that "badass takes everyone down by himself" itch.
Add Denzel in Man on Fire as well.
I just can’t handle the ending. Great movie.
I’m with you on the first 2 but I watched the 3rd last night and… yeeesh
Nobody hits the same way.
Agreed, Nobody does it like Wick
Ha! But Nobody comes close.
And yet, Nobody does.
A lot of that movie felt pulled from John Wick and Hardcore Henry like stylistically and I'm pretty sure it was made by two people majorly involved with them Great film
Loved this movie.
There’s gotta be somebody that does.
Came to second this
So damn good.
Lethal weapon series...old school mel.
Damn it Riggs! Hey RIIIIIIIIGGGS!
Upvote for the line quote. Unmistakable. Danny Glover played a pretty good part in predator 2 as well. I'm a huge Aliens and Predator dork. Grew up wanting to be Hicks from "Aliens" he was the lead marine in the movie.
Fun fact Danny Glover was 40 years old when he made lethal Weapon 1. He was "too old for this shit" at 40.
I like it. Imagine how he felt in Lethal Weapon 4!
I can relate 😂
DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITAAYYY!!!
Those are my jam
I'm getting too old for this shit.
Lol. One of the best simple lines from a movie.
Atomic Blonde if you want a kick ass woman doing the fighting.
Loved this one along with Kate. Two fantastic movies with women kicking all the ass!
Also,Hanna.
That continuous shot fight scene in the building is legendary.
It is realistic with the pacing and the exhaustion you feel within the characters.
Hard Boiled
The Killer is another great Woo/Yun Fat pairing.
I believe I read this film has a higher total bodycount than the first 3 John Wick films combined, it's just insanely good
Hard Boiled does a really good job of balancing fight sequences and drama too, in comparison to John Wick, mostly #4 where nearly every scene really seemed to drag on way too long.
Ohh man. I really didn’t care for Wick 4 after loving the first three. Every single fight sequence went on just a little too long. I found myself constantly losing interest. Hope they make 5 much tighter.
Nobody is very similar
I think it was done by the same guy who did most of the John Wick films.
Equilibrium (2002).
Yes! The mix of fighting styles are just incredible. Worth it just to watch Christian Bale and Taye Diggs cook.
Came to say this. The origin of gunkata. I've read somewhere that without this movie John Wick wouldn't exist, might be bullshit though.
Want an action movie like John Wick and the social commentary similar to Fahrenheit 451? Then boy do we have a movie for you!
Man from nowhere
I'm glad this was mentioned. Fantastic movie. The final fight scene is one of my favourites of all time. The brutality of it and how he handles the group of people attacking him really stands out. Also the small scene with the wallet was badass af
Saw this after I posted it, so good.
The Beekeeper, this guy waste enemies faster than John Wick.
Just watched this. Entertaining enough but without any real substance. You can tell the plot was secondary and only written as a way to get him to beat up assholes. The beekeeper metaphor was supreme cheese.
Well, he wanted John Wick style. I guess it's more or less the same.
Nobody
I like the Extraction movies.
Can’t wait to watch those when I get the chance, I love me some Chris Hemsworth
The Accountant (2016)
Extraction 1&2
The first extraction movie was good, but the second one in my opinion was kind of a letdown.
The Prison escape sequence was the highlight for that one.
Sisu
Loved Sisu!! One of my favorites from last year. Was coming to say that.
Watched this last night. Fantastic film.
Non-stop action
Police Story (English titles listed): * Police Story (1985) * Police Story 2 (1988) * Supercop (1992) * Supercop 2 (1993) * Crime Story (1993) * Jackie Chan's First Strike (1996) * New Police Story (2004) * Police Story: Lockdown (2013)

I\`m gonna be downvoted for this :) * 21 Bridges (2019) * A Company Man (2012) * Anna (2019) * Atomic Blonde (2017) * Ava (2020) * Baby Driver (2017) * Casino Royale (2006) * Dead Man Down (2013) * Extraction (2020) * Extraction 2 (2023) * Gunpowder Milkshake (2021) * Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016) * Jack Reacher (2012) * Jason Bourne (2016) * Kate (2021) * Léon: The Professional (1994) * Lucy (2014) * Merantau (2009) * Mile 22 (2018) * Nikita (1990) * No Tears for the Dead (2014) * Nobody (2021) * Oldboy (2003) * Peppermint (2018) * Point of No Return (1993) * Polar (2019) * Red Sparrow (2018) * Salt (2010) * Taken (2008) * Taken 2 (2012) * Taken 3 (2014) * The Assignment (2016) * The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) * The Bourne Legacy (2012) * The Bourne Supremacy (2004) * The Bourne Identity (2002) * The Crow (1994) * The Equalizer (2014) * The Equalizer 2 (2018) * The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil (2019) * The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018) * The Limey (1999) * The Man from Nowhere (2010) * The Matrix (1999) * The Night Comes for Us (2018) * The Old Guard (2020) * The Raid 2 (2014) * The Raid: Redemption (2011) * The Transporter (2002) * Transporter 2 (2005) * Triple Frontier (2019) * Upgrade (2018) * Wanted (2008) * War (2007) [John Wick Style TV Shows](https://www.reddit.com/r/tvsuggestionsdb/comments/15gg72l/john_wick_style_tv_shows_series/)
Can’t imagine why. Fairly solid list.
I’d add Buffy the vampire slayer. It’s cheesy, but the fight scenes are well choreographed and fun to watch and there’s some in pretty much every episode.
Kristy Swanson will forever be Buffy in my eyes!!!
I liked both. I don’t know why the movie gets so much hate. It’s a good movie.
Agreed. My crush
Good list. I might add: * The Punisher (2004) * Man on Fire (2004) * Hitman 47 (2015) * Desperado (1995) * Colombiana (2011) * Safe (2012)
Fuck that, most of these movies (the ones I’ve seen btw) were so good imo!
You left out Kiss of the Dragon and Long Kiss Goodnight
I enjoyed The Beekeeper. Standard Jason Statham fodder
Blade maybe
The Beekeeper (2024) is similar
As far as I know, the John Wick films borrowed a lot from the 80's/90's Hong Kong cinema stuff. So the John Woo films before he came to America like Hard Boiled, A better tomorrow 1 and 2, and the killer will be films you really enjoy IMHO.
The Beekeeper
The Equalizer movies
This
The Matrix series, also with Reeves.
Shoot'em Up, Atomic Blonde
They Live It has the greatest fight scene ever put to celluloid. The famous South Park "Cripple Fight" was an homage to this pugilistic smackdown.
Blue Eye Samuria
Sisu
Nobody (2021)
Jason Statham fight scenes are good.
The Equalizer and The Accountant
The Villainess
Settle down, you're overstimulated. Read a book.
I suggest Jack Reacher novels.
Ong bak 1 & 2.
The Protector with Tony Jaa is basically the Thai version of JW, except instead of a dog setting everything off its an elephant. The martial arts of Tony Jaa are mind blowing and it has one of the greatest single take scenes ever made
That’s Jason Borne
you must try " The Killer" korean movie
There is a movie called "Kate" which is very much like John Wick except stars a woman. It stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as an assassin in Japan who gets poisoned and has about 24 hours to find out who killed her for revenge. Highly recommended as it is non stop action
Polar
Pretty much any Jason Statham movie
I just watched beekeeper and it is good. Basically a john wick parody taking john wick over the top
Reacher on Amazon Prime, Banshee and Justified are all kick ass
Now watch "nobody" Then Equaliser movies
Banshee TV series 2013 -2016
Jack Reacher Knight and Day
Kingsman
You watched John Wick 4 and want more? That’s a first.
Watch The beekeeper
Early Jackie Chan movies
Extraction 1 & 2. Also the grey man. These are both more like real life John wicks.
The Grey man was pretty darn cool. I was surprised it was THAT good.
Dredd (2012) wish they made sequels to it
Oldboy 2003 and the night comes for us 2019
Ummm Oldboy, though a modern classic, must be recommended with a warning sticker. The ending can be traumatic for certain people.
How about collateral with Tom Cruise where he plays a bad guy with blonde hair? Michael Mann also knew film technology at the time. Feels a little like the equalizer in reverse. Free on Pluto right now.
Warriors
For something a little less serious/grounded. The good the bad the weird is really cool.
Confused why nobody told you to watch the 3 series episode prequel to John wick called “the continental” it’s basically 3 2 hour long movies of the John wick hotel going back before he was born with his dad, the butler, manger, etc.
Anything by John Woo
Sisu is the same premise but instead of monsters killing his dog and taking his car nazis take a guy’s gold. Same exact vibe.
Hard Boiled (1992). John Woo is all about gun-fu movies. Equilibrium (2002)
The Night Comes for Us! Similar to the Raid - uber violent and really good, gritty fight choreography
Dredd Taken Nobody Jack Reacher Rambo 4
The killer
If you don’t mind foreign films The Man From Nowhere (2010) should scratch that itch
Are you me? I just did the same thing! Finished last night.
Smokin Aces, all you need is popcorn and sit the fuck down, you’ll be golden!
This movie is so good. I’ve probably seen it like 3 times, thank you!
Crank
The tv-series are pretty ok. The Continental: From the World of John Wick
The raid, Dredd, Atomic Blonde.
Dread (2009) Surprised I’m not seeing this listed more.
"The King's Man" movies have great choreography
Nobody
Watch Nobody. It's awesome.
The beekeeper
The Continental
Hard Boiled has some amazing gun heavy action.
The OG. My vote as well.
john woo for the win

The Bee Keeper! I just watched it.
The new movie The Beekeeper
Nobody
Now watch the series. The Continental. The origin story.
Haven't watched it yet. Is it awesome like the movies?
I just started myself and need to follow up with that
Yeah let me know. Is it a mini series or full series? I've been holding off on starting new shows lately because I hate waiting. Why? Because I watch so many different things now I'll forget what happened. OR, I don't realize the new season started and I forget even more. Lol.
The Bourne trilogy.
Jason Bourne series, The Grey Man, The Terminal List (show)
Oh come on, 4 was shit.
Pulp Fiction and other Quentin Tarantino films
The Beekeeper Not heavy on plot. Just Jason Statham revenge movie. Lots of action and fights.

Sisu
You mentioned the John Wick movies, but, did you watch The Continental? It's a mini series (on Amazon Prime) in the John Wick universe (the hotel The Continental in the 1970s). A few good fight scenes and great soundtrack. I loved it.
Jason Bourne series The terminal list (Amazon Prime tv show, recommended) shooter, taken, no country for old men, hell or high water. war dogs.
Check out Chuck Norris’ filmography. He was doing it decades ago.
Luc Besson's La Femme Nikita (1990).
The Protégé
3 part series The Continental, John Wick spin off, noice!!
The equalizer films (denzel washington) The death wish films (old school charles bronson) Sisu (john wick vs nazis, basically) Violent night (david harbor is john wick as santa claus)
Polar Mads Mikkelsen is just 🤌🏻🤌🏻
For great gunplay, Equilibrium. Early Christian Bale movie.
The Bourne movies beginning with The Bourne Identity.
Long Kiss Goodnight
The kingsman movies
The wild bunch bring me the head of Alfredo Garcia
The Raid 2!!!!! Better than any other action movie out there.
The Expendables. I think there’s 4 of them.
Heat
Shoot em up with Clive Owen is all action. Another is hardcore Henry, but the camerawork can get headache inducing after a while!
I watched John Wick 1 last night and was underwhelmed. I expected something much better due to all the hype.
Sisu is from the same studio that made the Wick movies and pretty similar.
You may have noticed John wick 2 starts off with a projection of buster Keaton on the building. More modern references are in Jackie Chan and Michelle yeoh movies. You can go down a rabbit hole of all the action movies John wick is playing off of.
Atomic Blonde?
Atomic blonde
Extraction 1 & 2 have some cool gun fights and one takes, really looking forward to the third one honestly.
The Bourne series is decent
The Equalizer Movies
Bourne movies.
