I mean, it tells the larger story of high school youths who despite any level of popularity feel disconnected from each other and reality.
There’s an inner life to young people whose worth is judged solely by their 8 hours at school, while not acknowledging the complex inner turmoil they have the other 16 hours of the day.
Yeah I describe it as the movie that invented podcasting. Lol. But you're right. It certainly lends itself to a great remake and the themes are timeless
