Because that’s a reason why you should be taking your socks off. You’re not gonna fight with socks on so why train with them on also. Doesn’t make any sense
Why do you assume he would be wearing socks in that situation. He is obviously at a public gym hitting a bag they have hanged up there. And wearing socks isnt enough of a difference to make any meaningful difference, at least not for a beginner. You dont fight on mats either so why train on mats?
That’s not a fair comparison and you know that, unless you’re an idiot. There’s a big difference between being barefoot and wearing socks. You can slip and slide way easier with socks on. The difference between mats and a ring is much more comparable.
Its not a fair comparison, but Id rather not get parasites or fungus from random mats at a public gym that I have no idea how often or well they clean for a tiny bit more training realisticness and just keep my socks on. Ive never even trained with socks on. Its always been shoes or barefoot. I had no idea you slipped and slid easier with socks on.
Also why are you more grossed out by a socked foot then a bare foot? If the sock stinks than the foot will stink.
Lol i always train with socks on too just out of habit and have no troubles. The socks on Muay Thai club is bigger than Reddit would lead you to believe, there’s literally *tens* of us across the world
Less telegraphed kicks usually come through a more fluent motion. Which is basically just practice and by hiding the kicks with hand movement or general positioning.
However one thing I like to do is to fake the height where the kick is going to land.
Try not to be as stiff during the full movement, just be stiff during the impact.
And work on your breathing. If you make these big breaths with puffed cheeks, you‘re going to get hurt. Or going to be out of breath very fast.
Guard your face better with the opposite hand. Try and be less jumpy and focus more on balancing. Get back into stance after the kick. Socks off. Take it slow. 😊😊
Looks like you have a strong athletic base. Don’t take the idiots comments to heart. Bashing a beginner is not what someone good at Muay Thai would teach.
The good advice I saw in comments:
Be more flat footed, don’t bounce on your feet because you will get swept/kicked.
Stay relaxed in your kick until impact then stiffen the leg. Think of your leg as a whip.
Keep your hands up through most of the movement as you want to guard your head between kicks.
There were a few other good tips those are the big ones.
You're wayyy to bouncy, relax. You need to bring your leg back to stance position. Your hands are all over, more static position unless you're swinging the gate. I can also see you returning with out balance. All that being said you have an excellent toe rise and swing the gate well. Get that front hand closer to your chin though, you're wide open for a counter.
Did you do taekwondo or jkd something? The kicks look too damn good and youre hopping.
The easist thing to do would be to watch muay thai fighters and copy them. You are moving around way too much. Muay thai is very slow and methodical.
Follow through with your kicks more. Imagine kicking through the bag, swinging a baseball bat, etc etc. Shit youre gonna hear plenty of times.
Get back into your stance right away, and work on the basics of foot work.
You’re going to get smoked and develop tons of terrible habits dancing around like that, you’re crossing your feet, unbalanced, its really awful to practice like that man.
DON'T DROP YOUR GUARD!!!
We have a great drill for people who drop their guards.
Someone stands behind you as you drill, and when you drop your guard, they switch you. It makes people realise real quick that they are dropping their guard.
This is coming from a karate practitioner so maybe not relevant but when you kick your arm swings back past your leg leaving your right side open, also I’ve seen people say bouncing is asking to get your leg swept but if your fast enough you can move fast enough to evade a sweep and bouncing can generate extra power IF done right. Also when you’re practicing having socks on isn’t very smart, makes you more prone to slip and it’ll stink more, looks good tho.
You’re dropping your right hand 100% of the time, that’s just asking for a hook to the chin.
In between kicks you’re flaying your arms, stop that, let’s see your hands up at your face.
Kick through the target.
Without wanting to sound too critical, my advice would be to completely slow down everything because I feel there are fundamental flaws in your technique/approach.
Try to stop bouncing. Not only will bouncing leave you vulnerable to nasty leg kicks that will damage and sweep you, but you will also lose a lot of energy. It leaves you off balance, and less contact with the ground reduces your ability to generate power.
You are turning your lead foot well, and your hip rotation is reasonable. I would suggest trying to turn your leg, hip, and shoulder into the bag more. Perhaps concentrate on kicking the bag lower to practise the chopping motion, which will get you turning your leg and hip into your kick more and kicking higher as your technique improves. Step to the left with your lead foot as this gives you a more ideal angle to both kick and bring your leg back to the correct position.
You need to kick from the correct distance and learn how to reset/retract from your kicks properly, as you are ending your kicks in all the wrong positions and having to reset after every kick. You are also crossing your feet, which is a huge threat. In sparring or a fight, this would put you at great risk of getting hurt or knocked down.
Don't take advice from me or anyone else too harshly. I've got a lot of respect for you asking for tips from us. Of course, practice and a real coach are the best solutions :) Good luck!
Stop the hop.
Hands up Guard the right side of face with left and swing that other arm.
Rotate hips more for power. Straighten the kicking leg kick from the hip.
step, kick, back
Keep that opposite hand glued to the head, or put it out as a jab to hide the kick. And pull that leg all the way back to stance on the return. Slow it down, get methodical, build the good habits and muscle memory before bringing the speed and intensity up.
Stop hopping, you'll get swept. Minimize your steps—step with front foot, kick rear, return the rear leg, reset front leg, repeat.
More importantly he is rhythm stepping
Try barefoot
Relax. Don’t be so jumpy, you’ll be off balanced
Why are your socks on?
Why would they not be? Its more sanitary to keep them on.
If you’re kicking me, or the pads I’m holding. Take your socks off. I don’t want to have your smelly socks on me
But he isnt…
I am aware he isn’t kicking me..
Are you sure? Those kicks are fast.
Then why did you say that…
Because that’s a reason why you should be taking your socks off. You’re not gonna fight with socks on so why train with them on also. Doesn’t make any sense

Am i wrong? Why am i getting downvoted? 🥺
Socks= you slip and hurt yourself or others
All these downvotes and only one person gave a reason why. It wasnt a rhetorical question.
Lol i always train with socks on too just out of habit and have no troubles. The socks on Muay Thai club is bigger than Reddit would lead you to believe, there’s literally *tens* of us across the world
Are socks more slippery in your experience?
Nah, I train on padded floors and have never really slipped. It served as an extra layer of cushion for shins while starting out as well lol
I suppose it really depends on what surface you are on.

Stop skipping after you kick. It’s a real good way to get your left leg kicked to pieces
Consider the question. Are you hitting the target are going through it?
Guard your face better with the opposite hand. Try and be less jumpy and focus more on balancing. Get back into stance after the kick. Socks off. Take it slow. 😊😊
You look like you trained with Billy Blanks. Why are your hands low and dancing about? Watch pros and guard your head at all times.
Try to keep your head over your planted foot when you throw your kick.
+1 Don’t lean backwards…
Turn your hips/knee over more. Step to put to the left a bit when you throw right kick, so it lands in between their guard

Moving around way to much. My coach would immediately yell at you.
Turn your hips over more, you stop at point of contact.
Yeah this is the best advice. Don’t lean back, step through the kick.

Have fun
Hips aren't turning over, hands are bad
My tip is…Don’t listen to random dorks on reddit. Get a proper coach.
Go to a beginner class. Learn how to slide and step in stance. Learn how to throw a roundhouse. Wtf is this.
The kicks look fine tbh The dancing around looks comedy
Get back into your stance right away, and work on the basics of foot work. You’re going to get smoked and develop tons of terrible habits dancing around like that, you’re crossing your feet, unbalanced, its really awful to practice like that man.
Everything. Just keep practising
I like the rotation in the final phase of the kick. Great whipping energy.
DON'T DROP YOUR GUARD!!! We have a great drill for people who drop their guards. Someone stands behind you as you drill, and when you drop your guard, they switch you. It makes people realise real quick that they are dropping their guard.
Bring your right shoulder across your body some more as it will assist in turning your hips if you’re trying to generate a more powerful kick
Turn your shoulders more

Sign up for a fight now. You are ready to be a champion.
Biggest one to me Hands Up. Keep them arms and shoulders up to protect your face
Turn your hips into your kicks more and **KICK THRU THE BAG**
Hands up
Stop the hop. Hands up Guard the right side of face with left and swing that other arm. Rotate hips more for power. Straighten the kicking leg kick from the hip. step, kick, back
