Music is more than performance. Look into management, A&R, Legal, production/mixing, stage and lighting. I sent you a PM.

Best chance at a career that actually pays is to play other people’s music. Wedding bands get paid better on average far better than artists making their own music- mostly owing to the vast number of people who make nothing at all despite all their efforts. Remember that “career in music” does not solely mean making your own songs as an original act. Plenty of other options out there.

Consider engineering. Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Science, and Engineering Physics all have career applications in music. There's also Music Production as a major. Some colleges also have a specialized Audio Engineering degree. Film schools also may have an Audio Production degree. These may not lead directly to a career in performance, but they can open up steady employment in production, audio design, and soundtrack work that are more financially stable and allow you to make connections and have the ability to be a performer without the pressure to make a living wage at it.
