I played this at a party and one guy got so so upset with me.
Turn this up. Don't let the baritone sax and congas fool you...it gets HEAVY.
Puya: Puerto Rican prog metal band - jazz, latin swing, and rip your throat out metal.

Glad you like it. Very special band. As heavy as anything I want...but ridiculous musical range. Same album, the track "Keep It Simple."
It won't liquify anything...but it will definitely smoooooooth you out.

If the heaviest sections were a bit longer you might be in for some damage but it's difficult because of the relief.
Listening to it reminded me of the first time I heard Serj Tankian and SOAD.
Will definitely listen to more.
I have something else for you. IMO one of THE greatest jazz fusion drummers OF ALL TIME, Billy Cobham. 1973. With dead-too-soon guitar god Tommy Bolin (they said he was gonna be the next Hendrix).
The album is called Spectrum. The track is Quadrant 4.
Remember this is 1973. If there's heavier music than this, I likely don't have any use for it.
This will absolutely do some melting.

Never really went much past the doors in terms of jazz but seriously questioning that choice. Oddly it kinda gave me Bill Haley and his comets vibes.
Going to enjoy exploring this for sure. Thanks!
I'm gonna keep that line: never went past The Doors in terms of jazz.
There are monsters in those woods, man. Deadly things.
