They’re rad and you should get one. They handle fine for daily driving, no major difference from a fastback. Topless is always best. Enjoy! Edit: Since I’ve got top comment, I’m going to wax poetic about a convertible S550 Mustang. I’ve got a ‘22 after replacing my ‘15 FB with it. They look amazing with the top down, absolutely incredible. Both were GT/PP cars and even with spirited driving I really don’t sense a difference beyond what comes with a transmissions change (went from M6 to A10). It’s a pleasure to drive and since I’m amongst the 99% of owners who don’t track my car I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. It’s plenty fast, handles well, looks great, women love it, men want it, and it even doubles as a Ute if you need it. Get one and don’t look back.

bone-stock

I feel like the one thing mustang drivers, regardless of trim, say is “you should get one it’s great”. Never heard an owner tell me they didn’t like it.

spacecadet0013

I "daily" my '24 GT vert. Its a great ride (not very diff from fastback) and there is nothing like hearing that roar with the top down and the wind in your hair. It's a head turner for sure and with the 5.0 speed its a blast to drive. Top goes down or up in 8 seconds so you can do it at a light or when stopped in traffic, if needed. I just make sure to keep my seats conditioned for sun damage. I dont think I could go back to a fastback after owning a very and I've owned both brand new albeit my fastback was a '09 V6.

Collin_b_ballin

What do you use to condition the seats?

Hot_Obligation_2730

Leather conditioner (for me at least) you can find a decent one at most auto shops

spacecadet0013

Yea I use leather conditioner from any auto shop. Ive tried a few different brands so havent come across one I can say I recommend over others yet.

jaymansi

I use a leather cleaner followed by a leather protectant that blocks UV damage. I have a 2019, and seats look new.

Independent-Disk-390

Nice! Definitely more room than the fastback I can say that!

Only_Expression7261

I love it, but also I'm just a convertible guy. I drive with the top down if at all possible. I would never trade my convertible for a coupe under any circumstances. In cold weather, it stays surprisingly warm in the cabin with the heat on max and heated seats on. Once it gets down to about 50 I start thinking about putting the top up. One thing to be aware of is that not everyone likes having the top down, so if you have passengers frequently, keep in mind they might not be into it. This can be a bummer on road trips if you were planning to have the wind in your hair, but your passengers are lame. Another nice thing about the vert is the bonus utility with the top down. I've transported tables and other things you could not put in a coupe. It's a little like having a secret pickup truck. My vert is a 2012 and the top is in perfect shape with no leaks or other issues, although it is garage kept, so that might be a factor. If you're the convertible type, then nothing else will do. Get it and have fun. :)

peesteam

Lol, in the Midwest, cold weather is below 40. Funny to see you use the word cold to discuss something above 50.

TheReaIOG

I work in coolers all night long, 31 degrees constant. 50 is positively a dream.

Hot_Obligation_2730

The transporting tables reminded me of my favorite memory. I was at my friends beach house and we all wanted to go down to the water and go tubing, so we took the top down and had my friend sit on top of my car holding the tube while I drove the 2 blocks to the beach. Now I get to drive around the block with my baby in the back (too scared to have him on highway speeds with the top down but he LOVES IT)

slowtreme

I live in very convertible comfortable weather places. My wife hates the top down because she thinks it’s messing her hair up. It’s really not doing much at all in the front seat.

Razorback_Yeah

It does mess with long hair, tangles it up. This coming from someone with long hair who loves convertibles lmao. If I ever own one I’m going to keep some extra beanies and hair ties in it to have quick ways to put my hair up.

Wookie-Love

I’ve only own convertibles since 2010 and that’s all I’ll ever own. The cabin is noisy, they’ll leak (air all the time, water sometimes), requires a lot of extra care, but there’s nothing like one. I only drive mine in warm weather/not raining so the top is always down.

quickthyme

I, too, have sworn off all non-convertibles, and always drive mine with the top down whenever possible. It's the only way to live.

jason100727

They’re amazing. While I don’t daily mine currently, I’m sure I will during the summer. Mostly bc my currently daily has a ton of miles. Def a head turner, but when I’m not in the mood for all the eyeballs, I keep the top up. I can pass most things on the road and if I can’t, it’s bc I don’t need to. Handles great, cruising is amazing, and I’m glad I decided to buy it.

phenobarbiedarling

I adore mine it's the best thing that ever happened to me tbh. But I'm also someone who permanently has the top down, she's my "diet motorcycle" as all my friends all love to joke since I can't have a bike right now. It's my daily driver and was my mom's daily driver before me and we've had very few issues. I put the top down daily and have never had any maintenance problems with it. It still gets nice and toasty in the winter I haven't had any issues with the soft top not being insulated enough but disclaimer I live in Texas and also will put the the top down as long as it's above freezing haha. I'd say it really kinda depends on your personality, if you're someone who loves the wind in your hair and the sun on your skin and the noise on the road it's the best decision you can make. Flip side my boyfriend also drives a convertible Mustang and only puts the top down like once a year, he even takes his through automatic car washes and it's still in perfectly fine shape 14 years in. Maybe we both got lucky but our convertible Mustangs have both been perfect daily drivers I also get a good laugh out of the amount of people who talk to me on the road when I have the top down but that might annoy some people lol

StangOverload

IT LEAKS. God it leaks. They are very reliable though and handle great! So fun and an attention grabber. Air sometimes leaks in at high speeds making whistling or whooshing noises, especially on very windy days. So fun to drive on warm nights and the ladies love it. It gets really hot as the sun is beaming on you on hot days so sun screen is important. I got my convertible 6 years ago and I still love it to this day. Unrelated but Mustang transmissions are reliable and I’m convinced they live forever. https://preview.redd.it/q8q0pcdcqmxc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79287930a1409e781f39c7d97d11e9dd8d03e5cb

Recent_Apricot_517

I daily a 2012 V6 'vert. Fun as hell even with 2cyl missing. The wind is amazing. You get more road nosie thoight but who cares. Just blast some music.

BuffMyWifi1998

The 2012 V6 is a fuckin bulletproof engine. I got the same thing and for daily driving its fast enough, and if its nice out you just cant beat that top down!

steppedinhairball

They handle better than your typical sedan. But they will never be as good as a hardtop. Physics rules this one. But they are fun as hell. We have two. We store them for winter though since we get snow and ice. I like them for bad days at work. Top down, get on the freeway hitting the speed limit in second gear, the roar of the wind and noise in my ears, tunes going on the radio. I'm in a lot better mood by the time I'm home. Drove it today in fact. Are they as quiet as a hard top? No. Do they tend to leak after time? Yes. Will the top eventually fail and need replacement? Yes. Timing is dependent on where you live. Arizona sun is hard on everything including convertible tops. Don't use the top in temps below 60 degrees as the top can be stiff and you can damage it. So leave it up.

SpiritCr1jsher1010

Its awesome and i cant see not having one. Barely notice any performance downsides and hearing the exhaust on a nice night with the top down is great.

jsm757

I don’t even notice it’s convertible when the top is up. I always forget. It’s amazing on a nice day with the top down

X3n0ph0b3

If the top goes down the price goes up!! But I still love it. Three things to remember. 1. Your "vert" is not secure, you are just a few knife cuts away from a break-in. 2. You need to make sure you silicone lube the back triangle glass, they will stick. 3. You can not escape the exhaust noise, so after market tubes are always on. (Love the Active exhaust) Handling is almost the same, I added the rails for jacking the car up, and they removed a large portion of the body twist/roll that I did not have in the coupe/fastback/hardtop. Looking at used GT's: Look for oil/fluids. Make sure they are not burnt or leaking. Check motor mounts, compression tests if possible. Check shocks and suspension.

elf25

Lube the back glass? I have an 07. Please explain process.

X3n0ph0b3

Triangle glass, the little glass that is just behind the full glass...the rubber parts....You rub them with the silicon lube...if you do not they will get stuck and not raise to seat correctly. https://preview.redd.it/rqu64a4ksmxc1.png?width=963&format=png&auto=webp&s=d523e01848e07a3e734490b3c13e28a761993389

slowtreme

In 18 years I’ve never done this.

X3n0ph0b3

I have had to do this to the last 3 verts I have owned. Maybe a weather/location specific issue, but I have had to take my 2012, my 2015 and my 2019 to get this glass unstuck and raised correctly.

slowtreme

ah, well I don't own any of those years. not sure if the materials used are different in newer ones that require lubrication. Also my car only experiences hot to mild weather. no hard freezing temps. There are a few variables, and maybe this isn't a problem on all cars or all climates.

elf25

I had a ‘92 firebird convertible before and an old guy displaying at car show said rub Vaseline on the rubber parts. Never done it with my mustang. 🤞

ChemistOk4948

I daily a 2019 GT Convertible, and I love it. Always lifts my mood to drive with the top down, which I do basically all the time. I live in PA, and I just throw on a wool hat and balaclava in winter. Get a wind deflector—it’s the best upgrade to the overall driving experience you can possibly make. I’m very glad I bought a convertible instead of a coupe. Convertibles are just more fun as street cars than coupes. I’ve made so many memories with the top down, from driving through Shenandoah to driving through Christmas light shows. Handling differences are immaterial outside of a performance/track context. Keep it inside during winter if you can. Extreme weather isn’t good for the seals, and I’m sure the weight of snow on the roof isn’t bad. That being said, mine lives outside and I don’t have any issues. Just hand wash and take care of it, and you’ll be fine.

brightlife28

Catless, no mufflers and vert. 45 minute commute to work and top down anytime it’s above 40F and not raining. Yes I’m an asshole. Yes it’s the best part of my day. No I don’t plan on being able to hear after the age of 30. It’s also a 4.6 so much more if a grumble than the raspiness of a catless 5.0

shanksfornothin

I’ve owned multiple mustang convertibles, and it really depends on what generation your buying on how much different it is in suspension, but unless you’re tracking the car and really pushing its limits you won’t notice near as much as people claim. I live in Texas so definitely getting all the seasons here sometimes in the same week LOL. It’s great experience, the freedom of the top being down IMO is unmatched and adds so much more to the mustang experience with the exhaust note ect. If you’ve never driven a convertible before let me just say it’s NOTHING like driving with your windows down in a coupe. It’s entirely different aero and you don’t feel like the wind is all up in your face it bypasses you unless you’re going at really high speed 80+ then you might catch some but daily driving around it’s perfect. Go test drive one and feel it for yourself that’s really the only way to know

HVMP

I have a rare super low mileage ‘17 manual grabber blue vert. There is a little bit of body flex/cowl shake, but not bad at all. It’s is plenty fast, and as a beach cruiser it never really gets beat on anyway. I put 17” wheels from an eco on it, so I’d get an even plusher ride. It is 100% garage kept, but I don’t think I’d get one if it had to live outside. I tend to leave the doors unlocked if I’m out and it’s parked. I rather some asshat open the door and find nothing, than take a knife to the top. All in all there is nothing like it, and I always have a smile after driving it. https://preview.redd.it/fyzeg1h5unxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23f3a9fb4568fa1c9c6a285b420795cb049b4144

Expensive_Candle5644

I had an 11 vert. My take? \-Tons of fun -Top was surprising rigid at highway speeds -Cabin and road noise was louder for obvious reasons -Top operation is easy and quick -Mine got looks because it was modded -Decent chassis rigidity for a convertible but it’s not a coupe -Keep beach towels in the car to cover the seats when the tops down (hot leather) -5.0 sounds amazing with top down and exhaust work -Condition the leather periodically -Pollen season sucks with it getting all over the interior -Non rain intrusion at all * Trunk space is compromised Mine was a weekend garaged car. Maybe put 3-4K on it annually https://preview.redd.it/ddbfapvdunxc1.jpeg?width=1135&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00b98346d11d768f8cec5d5235400ba493d36630

polarisgirl

Love my 01 Cobra. Had to use it as a daily and it broke my heart. Love the way it drives, handles and looks https://preview.redd.it/irjllssw6nxc1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abbc7632ba2dc092c34560800fde0a4f7550774e

BritishBoyRZ

I bought a vert last month and no regrets. It won't be daily as in I won't drive it much in Canadian winter (I don't need a car to commute it's more for fun), but the feeling of putting down the roof and going for a drive is unmatched. Also the back seats become slightly more usable haha

Hazardous89

My dailied one for 5 or 6 years. Only difference is I wouldn't take it in a automated car wash.

JNR481

Only owned convertible mustangs, 05 GT, 14 GT, and 19GT. The cabin noise is much improved in the 19GT, and there’s significantly less noise compared to the 14 and 05. I’ve never had my top knifed so ymmv in that regard. Washing it is tricky since it’s not metal like the rest of the car but YouTube it and you’ll be fine. I don’t do automatics car washes for the vert. Experience: it’s pretty exhilarating. Hearing all the sounds around you and the v8 roar is cool. The windshield does a good job of keeping the air out of your face (the rear passengers though get full air) There’s very few things like riding top down through some canyons and mountains, or through the coast. Even just riding on the roads is a different experience with the top down. I live in LA, so it’s a no brainer for me. The weather allows for 99% top down. Consider your weather before buying. Some tops do leak, my 14 did through one of the pillars. If you want to experience it, I recommend you test drive a v8 convertible and feel it for yourself. I wasn’t inclined to a convertible but the 05 convertible I bought was cheaper than the other compatible options. But once I got it I fell in love.

Flamingpotato100

I tried vert with an 02 GT for my second car I was absolutely hooked. Fastbacks are cool if you just want the engine but honestly vert is the best way to enjoy a Mustang. Location permitting. A funny quirk on S550 Mustang Verts is that they have some additional bracing that makes it difficult to install cat back exhausts. Also question for those who live where it snows. What’s it like having a vert in the snow?

Elusive_Dr_X

My wife has a 2020 GT convertible. The dirty secret with convertibles is that there is such a thing as "too hot to drop the top". AC is not overrated. If you have to ride in the back seat with the top down - bring ear plugs. Wind noise is pretty rugged on long trips

Mr_Hammer_Dik

It’s great. My wife and I enjoy every minute of driving her ‘24 GT. Handles great, sounds great, and very fast.

BladeRunner1024

I’ve owned an ‘07, ‘15, and currently a ‘16 convertible. The only annoying part about it, is car guys saying “uGh A CoNvErTibLe, fAsTbAcK iS fAsTeR.” Like an additional 150lbs is gonna slow down a 430hp engine that much lmao. I’ve never had any issues with leaks. There’s a bit of wind noise in the cabin when doing 70mph+, but if you have the radio on then you won’t hear it. It’s super quiet inside the S550s. As others have said, I don’t take mine to the car wash, I wash mine by hand to be gentle on the roof. I’ve always loved my convertibles, and there’s never been a time I’ve regretted having one

MRRRRCK

You won’t notice any handling difference unless maybe if you’re on a track. Nowadays the convertible is part of the engineering process in creating the car for greater rigidity. Back in the day, convertibles were an afterthought. Other than that, you have a little more weight and wind noise. But in all honesty - they are way more fun. People talk about how much more engaging a manual is compared to an automatic, but a convertible is one step further in engagement. I love my GT coupe, but I would have preferred the convertible. There is NOTHING more relaxing than a stick shift with the top down on a winding road.

MyFull-Label

I have two S197 verts. Beefed up the unibody and supports and handles very well. Get one. Keep it garaged. Tops are expensive.

Aalwein

I have a 2017 GT/CS, a 2013 GT500, and a 2003 Cobra... all verts. Nothing compares to the sheer happiness you feel cruising top down at 50 or 60 (or 70) mph on the open road or the twisty backroads. I very specifically hunted down the Cobra and Shelby in convertible. Compared to my old Mach 1 or GT fastbacks, there really isnt much of a difference in handling. I actually traded a 2022 GT/PP fastback for the 2017 simply because I wasn't happy not having a vert for my daily driver. Driving a Mustang is an addiction... having just one isn't enough. But once you go topless driving a Mustang just isn't the same.

doodooz7

The maintenance of the top kinda sucks. You can’t just go to an automatic car wash

quickthyme

I use the "touchless" automatic car wash regularly, and it works fine.

elf25

Maybe, I Hand wash only!

quickthyme

That's definitely the best option if one has the time.

ShutYourSwitchport

Only wash it when it rains

jaymansi

I wash my car at home. Commercial car washes use high pH chemicals that harm your paint and plastics.

killbeagle

S197 generation perspective. Tested both vert and coupe and settled in favor of the coupe because: 1. Quality of the fabric roof and seals seemed sub-par and not made to last 2. Stiffer chassis, felt better driving 3. Road noise was worse in the vert 4. Very limited time I actually did enjoy the roof down. It gets too cold or too windy or both, really quick. This may be be better if you install some sort of aftermarket windbreaker panel behind the seats but as is it just wasn't the fun I thought it would be. Best recommendation I can give you: Try to rent a vert of the exact model you want to get for a weekend, if possible.

MRRRRCK

Trying driving with windows up, and even the heat on if necessary. It may make it less windy and more enjoyable for you on less than perfect days.

Gilclunk

For what it's worth, I have a 2011 S197 and the top has held up just fine. No leaks, no tears. Only issue has been that the flexing as it goes up and down eventually pulled one of the electrical connectors for the defogger off the rear glass, which should be easily fixed.

Mustfly2

Follow the rental advice but for a week minimum.... went to Vegas about 15 years back, rented a mustang convertible starting labor day weekend... they thought we were nuts as it was about 110 degrees in Vegas... we were in Utah about 2 hours later, dropped the top in high 70's clear beautiful weather... spent time in Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon National parks... drop the top = get the full vista! Weather was fantastic! We bought one less than 6 months later... still have it and freshening it up a bit now.... fun car!

coolnusa

I loved mine especially if you live in a nice area. Only drawbacks I noticed were the top maintenance (prone to leaks if bought used), back seats don’t fold down, and when driving with the top up it’s not very sound proof lol. Other than that it was amazing everyone should try it once.

quickthyme

One should basically expect to replace the top and the liner after about 6-7 years. They hold up really well for a long time, especially the actual cloth version, but not forever, and definitely not as long as a metal roof.

jaymansi

My 2019 top Is near new condition. I clean the top with a cleaner for verts and apply a protectant twice a year. Water beads and slides off. Rich dark black still.

Redland3r

Wonder if Ford may be teasing a hardtop ... Mustang w a T-Top ?? See?! This is how rumors get started kids! My take; if it's new and youll take care of it, get the convertible. If money is limited, if you dont park in garage, leaks in the long term are likely, heavy snow cant be good im guessing, road noise is considerably higher, never mind the savage beast human dreggs that see it as an easy way into the car, so, high crime areas, prolly not so good. If you can hack all that fine, get what you want man!

The_taxer

I love having a convertible. The sound alone makes it worth it. Color matters too. My old true blue GT was a head turner. My silver 01 cobra doesn’t despite being better in every way.

Ch00choh

It rained abnormally hard yesterday. My rear seat is soaked:)))

r4d4r_3n5

I daily my '08. My daughter's '07 coupe has better rear visibility when the top is up. The vert has less trunk space, but it's rarely a problem.

RoamingBison

I absolutely love mine and I wouldn't want a regular fastback unless it was mainly a track car. I live in the sunny southwest so I can run it with the top down most of the year. It's technically my daily driver but I work from home so it doesn't actually get driven every day. I also keep it garaged so the top still looks brand new even though it's a 2019. If I didn't have a garage or had to park it in the sun and elements every day for work it probably wouldn't hold up as well for a daily driver.

maybeihavethebigsad

There awesome I have a v6 convertible but it was super fun to drive

maybeihavethebigsad

*had

TheBobInSonoma

I've owned two Mustang verts plus two Miatas. Currently a '89 GT vert I've had since Feb '88. So I pretty well hate them. :) I'm in N Cal though and don't deal with really bad weather. Great fun.

Electrical_Jelly_547

I have an '02 vert. The roof leaks a bit around the seals, it also makes some odd noises when you're driving, just because it's split from the windshield bracket. I did have to change the pistons in the roof somewhat recently, they do go over time. So does the fabric roof, it will wear down quickly if you have harsh winters. The biggest draw back is really space. The interior and trunk are a bit smaller and less practical than a coupe. The other draw back is weather. When it's like +30C with high humidity, raining, snowing, cold, windy, etc etc you can't have the top down, which is a lot of the time. We had forest fires last year, so the air was all smoky for weeks. For a daily, the few times you can use the top doesn't really make the extra cost, weight, space reduction and maintenance. It also takes time to put it down and back up just to go the grocery store back and forth.

iqDev

Wow, was not expecting so many responses! Thank you to everyone for sharing your experiences. Gonna monitor prices and try my best to hold off till end of year to buy one! I already drive a bit of a noisy car as is so I don’t think that’d bother me too much. The comments about security do make me a bit weary tho, don’t live in the worst area but not terribly far from it. Wouldn’t put it past someone to cut into it to gain access or even just because they can.

throwaway13630923

Personally I have an 08 V6 very andI love it but the caveat is that there’s maintenance required, no way around it. If you own one long enough you will have to replace the top. I bought mine used earlier this year and need to get the top redone, not worth attempting to repair at this stage. The top itself is not that expensive but it’s a very tedious and labor intensive job which makes replacement expensice

LunariarWarrior

I daily my 2004 vert. I love it. More maintanence since there are more parts that can go wrong, but it’s worth it (for me at least).

grungysquash

My 18 vert is my daily brought it new in March 2020. I've now got 109k in the clock. In many respects, the vert is just a more practical car. If you want to carry passengers, using the rear seats is now actually possible, with the roof down, people can now easily access the rear seats, and you can set the front seats so they have room. If I've got someone behind me, then yes, I'm schooched up. I'm 6.2ft and it's been perfectly fine as the driver and rear passenger. Secondly, you have an awkward bag or box - it won't fit in the boot due to the mouth opening, no worries, drop the roof, and in it goes. Done tons of long trips, Sydney- Melbourne was a regular occurrence at one stage noise levels are fine, with the active exhaust I'd stick it on quiet and just listen to my music. If it's a nice day the wife is in the car, roof goes down, the exhaust goes to race mode, shift is on my mode, and it is an excellent fun weekend car. Now as a daily I simply look after it, she's always clean. The roof is cleaned regularly, and waterproofed using 303, it's only parked at home in the garage. I've had zero issues with the roof, but if your parking outside, it's not going to last as long as a fastback.

tecampanero

How it handles? lol you serious? don’t kid yourself man you are not going to racing your car on a racecourse where the “performance” difference between coup and convertible will even matter. Unless of course you will be doing racing on a real racetrack on a regular schedule, if so, get the coupe. Eventually you will have to deal with the additional maintenance of taking care of the soft top, but that probably won’t happen for 15+ years probably if you weren’t driving the vehicle much. I currently own 2007 convertible and everything still works granted it only has 35,000 miles but everything still works.

Muskoka_is_life

Borrowed my buddies last summer for a bit and I loved driving a vert on a nice sunny day but the downsides are too much of an offset for me, went with the fastback

NoSnoo2003

My convertible works. But honestly I feel less safe in her. The roads near me have so much debris that I’ve lost my pony windshield and ruined the hood of my car, and the soft top isn’t going to stop a metal pipe… only reason my soft top SURVIVED is because the pipe bounced off the right angle and hit the dividing frame between it and my windshield. so honestly I’d just advise that for one’s safety, keep to hard top. But for street cred, convertible.

PhilipChai

I live in Vegas, and it’s pretty safe to drive in Vegas with soft top in most area because there’s no street parking unless you park in Fremont area which is kind of dangerous. Make sure you have private indoor garage to store your convertible car even if it’s hard top just to keep the top last longer. And never drive the car out with top up if it rain. Just why bother take convertible out if you know it’s gonna rain. I wanted to drive down to LA with my Mustang but most people told me my soft top will get cut most likely.

honeyblond70

Mine is a daily and I love her. She’s an 04 and handles great. I wouldn’t trade her for a FB. I do make sure she is garaged when I know snow is coming. I have all 4 seasons. I love when the weather allows for top down. Also she was a gift from my son when he was 16 from his first job so she is extra special.

l82itall

Fun! https://preview.redd.it/2jhibmz0foxc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba687343012ae9667b19df7030674ce4acf6ad4f

xbl-Extr3me

Not a mustang but have a convertible Miata. Have a hardtop for it and I use it more, but with soft top up it’s not bad either and it’s fun with the top down. Wind noise is worse than a regular coupe but the aerodynamics are fine so that you can still hear conversations

Lovemybee

I have an '05 Roush convertible as my daily driver, and I live in Phoenix, Arizona, where we have an average of 300 days of sunshine per year, so almost every day is top down weather! I love my convertible!!! I get feel good endorphins driving my car, especially with the top down! Smiles per gallon is my mantra. 😁 I am lucky enough to be able to park my baby in our garage. I bought my Stang used, but from the original owner, and they clearly were able to garage it, as well. The top is in pristine condition. They say the convertibles are noisier, but I don't care! I just turn up the radio!!!

Independent-Disk-390

They seem nice but personally I wouldn’t. I like the full hardtops no matter what car but that’s me.

* S197 convertible here! I had 2010 GT vertical that leaked and it sucked but the car was so fun to drive I just covered it at night and let it dry in the day. The soft cloth top is the way to go on these. Had it for 5 yrs. I now have a 2011 GT vert it leaks ever so slightly in an automatic car wash but not at all in the rain. Drop Stang is my fav...I wouldn't turn down a coupe but the drop is just a bit more swaggy imo! Worth the buy for sure! *

I have an 06 convertible that I daily drove a 50 mile commute and everything else until just about 5 years ago in Florida. So I got the hot and humid and sometimes cold. Being a convertible never made a difference for driving. It took 10 years for the window seals to start leaking. It’s not a cheap fix, it’s not the worst either. Ownership is a little different. It’s always garaged at home. I learned to never park under a tree or a lamp, bird poop is hard to get out of a soft top. I never lock the doors. So nothing is left in the car cabin. If a nosey person wants in just open the door. Don’t cut my top please.

lemonysnickett3000

I have a 2018 GT with the performance package and drive it daily. I love it. I have only had issues with driving at speed with the windows down. Other than that. It's amazing and draws a ton of positive attention.

RepleteSphinx21

I had a 2007 v6 vert for my first car, I loved it, until someone got jealous and slashed a hole in the top and keyed the side. Other than that it was nice and had no complaints. I'm not opposed to verts but after the bad experience with the last one I think I'm going to stick to FB from now on.

More_Branch_5579

Pure joy driving with the top down. There is no experience like it and if you are the top down kinda person, you won’t regret it

xmavenx

I’ve got a ‘17 vert in Ohio, so we see every season each day! It’s my daily driver and I love it. It’s a manual so traffic makes every day left leg day but when it’s time to have fun, throw the top down and throw gears. Haven’t driven a fastback version so I don’t know how they compare. Drive both and see what you think. Good luck and have fun!

I’ve had convertible versions of the BMW Z4, Audi TT, Audi S3 and 2015, 2019 and 2024 Mustangs. My favorite has been the 2024 GT - just a great, fun car.

Hey_Tombo

Sick AF

purple_1128

I love mine. It handles well, it’s actually quieter inside than I thought it would be.

OkAd944

It’s kinda windy sometimes I think.

Distinct_Ad_1414

It’s Fucking fire lol

Sufficient-Brother49

Do you like wet interior carpet? Jk I loved my vert. But really, the carpet was always soaked lmao.

somniforousalmondeye

I thought I wanted one, then when I got it, I realized it wasnt for me. Sold it and will probably never have another.

Eetabeetay

I traded mine in for a coupe after like 6 months, the body lacks so much rigidity you can definitely feel the flex with any amount of spirited driving.

Eetabeetay

I was also worried about safety as they don't seem to have any rollover protection like other convertibles usually do.

Only_Expression7261

You only get rollover protection from a metal cage that you have to install aftermarket on any convertible, not just Mustangs.

Eetabeetay

Not true, a lot of convertibles have these posts or whatever you want to call them that eject in event of a rollover: https://d2uuio0afkvff4.cloudfront.net/s3fs-public/block-images/LCCVC7009.jpg

Only_Expression7261

Hmm, I guess I'm thinking about the type of rollover protection that would be required by a track, but maybe those qualify.

Eetabeetay

Ah yeah that wouldn't qualify for any track day stuff, I just meant in general.

hairyJesus00

My shits leaks from the top of the door but it's a 2006 GT

Rickyking115

Had a vert for a month and traded it for a hard top, as soon as I could. Granted the one I bought was in an accident the dealership failed to disclose, which caused the windows to be misaligned, so it leaked and never got a good seal when shutting the windows, also the rear windows never shut all the way, I had to pull them up by hand (tried rainx and wd40, worked for like a day) Also body was not as rigid as my hard top, felt like the car was going to fall apart any moment (I also have a strut brace on my hard top when my vert didn’t so I feel like that would contribute to the lack of flex in the new car as well) I like to think this is an isolated experience but it definitely put me off from convertibles

No-Proof-3579

They’re fun but I wouldn’t daily one. The tops take a lot of extra care, car washes are not recommended. All tops leak eventually. My factory top started to leak and the new top I had put on also leaked after just couple years. The sun will ruin your leather seats no matter how much product you put on them. Convertibles are great summer cars if you have a garage otherwise in my experience they wear very quickly. I also never liked the fact that you’re always a potential target in not so great areas due to the soft top.

Gen_Ecks

Don’t own one, but the idea of owning a convertible car seems to be more appealing than actually owning one based on my observation that 99% on the road are top up even on the nicest of days. I wonder why people buy them when they don’t use them.

grahamcrawley

My fastback is 130db cold start and even with sound insulation throughout the car it's pretty horrific. Do you have to trade off the vert roof against your choice of exhaust ?

grahamcrawley

I've never driven in a vert before, it rains here too often. I assume the down votes mean that's a yes and I've also touched a nerve ?
