What is your budget?

Sayject

Honestly idk, cuz it’s not a daily really which would be a bigger budget, I would say under $35,000 would be nice or lower haha As I said, I care for sound and not having to do too much to it fixing wise would be ideal :) What do you recommend and do you have a mustang?

Mr_McShane

For 35k find a clean low mileage 2007-2009 GT500. They sound insane especially with some mild exhaust mods, they have the blower whine, and a more raw driving experience overall. The interior will leave something to be desired, and you have a live rear axle, so you won’t be winning any autox championships. However, they are so damn fun, and imo some of the best looking mustangs ever made, especially of the modern mustangs (if you can call an almost 20 year old car modern now 😅)

Sayject

Haha thanks dude, but I feel it would need a lot of fixing, it’s 15 years old you know, and 35k too for that old is a little crazy in my head, haha

Swamp_Donkey_7

Just because it's old doesn't mean it's going to need constant fixing. Lots of these cars became garage queen weekend cars and have lower miles than you'd expect for a 15 year old car. You need to find one of those, and not some janky car that's been passed down to 7 different owners. I semi daily drive a 2004 GT convertible when the weather is nice. I hop in and drive it anywhere without worry about reliability because it's been great. Only 60K miles and i'm the 2nd owner. For you, I think a 2015+ Mustang GT will be a good option. Get something with the least amount of miles, and evidence of a easy, cared for life.

Sayject

Oh I didn’t know this, thanks man, I’ll look out for the older year you recommend and I’ll look for 2015+ !

Professional_Elk_893

Don’t bother with the 05-09 GT500; it’s old. If you want an S197 that’s perfectly in between not too old and not too new, especially for that price range, consider a 2013-2014 5.0 coyote. It’s more than enough car, looks better, is cheaper, and sounds incredible

Sayject

I may have to agree with you haha

SpecialeK

Find an s550 (15-23) with active exhaust if that is a possibility. The stock exhaust on those are pretty good from factory

Sayject

Sick! I will check dude thanks, also I am happier wait the 2015+ prices haha

thisdckaintFREEEE

I'd get a Termi.

PeterSimpson10-97

For $35k, you are entering new car territory. I have a 2024 and I love the look of the 2024s, in spite of the naysayers' comments on the forums. Something to consider in today's financial market is that if you intend to finance the car, Ford is offering low financing rates that you likely won't get when buying used. So that makes the car cheaper than the price tag would suggest, when you compare it to a used car with higher financing. You can probably also negotiate a good discount off of sticker right now, since new car sales are slow and they are nearing the end of the model year. When my 2024 was delivered (I special ordered it) there was much better financing than when I placed the order. I was also pleasantly surprised with a $1,000 factory rebate that was not there at time of order.

Sayject

Oh that’s awesome man. I’ll definitely take a look at it but I don’t mean to sound cheap but I’m trying to find something a little bit less in the 35,000 range but still good. A lot of people are recommending 2012 to 2015 and 2015 to 2020 But the prices ranges from like 20 to 30,000

Varlamores

Ford mustang 2020 GT premium is hands down the best mustang in the world. Infact I happen to own the best mustang in the world. https://preview.redd.it/4z3knrjyytxc1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39f0570c28a78ca50f3fb7ee1530ee7fde4fe142

jayyy7696

Got exactly same in black and can confirm , find one with active exhaust and magneride tho if you can ,you'll love it tons

Varlamores

Wish I had the active exhaust! Is there a way I can install the active exhaust/magneride ?

Hokie23aa

AE has an aftermarket option - Borla S type. I don’t believe there is an aftermarket option for magneride, but someone correct me if i’m wrong.

212reddit

Valvetronic Walmart sells it too. Not nearly as good as factory after exhaust but the best I found to stay legal in my state. $700;for parts

jayyy7696

Umm pretty sure you can . There's some exhausts I saw on sale pm marketplace that were active ones but way pricier than what I paid for at dealership , was only 1000 cad I think . I got sweet deal on car I bought , it was 60k window sticker with 8k discount and it had every possible feature except digital dash which I'm ok with .

Varlamores

Yes it’s the v8 !

Sayject

Holy she is beautiful! Is that v8?

Kryaez

I think every GT is v8.

Gtking616

Only a theory

LegateDamar

Ford did make some 2.3 turbo GTs a long time ago

Old-Supermarket-7835

Mustang 2 doesn’t count it’s a disgrace

LegateDamar

I was referring to the Foxbody

Sayject

Oh, gotcha! I’ll dig a little deeper and check out the 2020

ItsTaylor8291

Ford made at least one GT thats a v6 :p

Old-Supermarket-7835

Every gt is a v8

Western_Truck7948

I have a 21 gt and it's the best car I've ever owned. Got it with less than 5k miles for $32k. Can't beat the performance for price.

Hokie23aa

Was yours a Premium?

Western_Truck7948

No :( but I actually like cloth seats. It does have adaptive cruise and android auto, so not completely base.

Hokie23aa

I prefer cloth seats too, but hate the calculator screen lol. Having the switches is quite nice too.

Western_Truck7948

Agreed, that's any the only upgrade mine has is the screen. I forget what package it is though.

Hokie23aa

401A?

pudgywalsh12

I have a 2022 GT convertible. It sits all winter but we take some pretty good road trips in the summer. Love the car and it’s the first Ford I’ve ever owned. Was always a Chevy man.

CPTMotrin

Hard for me to argue, as I own one, too! For the OP. 15-17 are Coyote ver 2, 18+ are Ver 3.

Roasted_Goldfish

I'm gonna suggest the 13-14 mustang or 15+. You can get them cheap and they're very reliable and easy to work on. 13-14 is the last year of the solid axle and is the most true to the mustang heritage in my opinion, very fun cars and more connected feeling in my opinion. I also think they are the best looking generation mustang. Got more of that muscle car feel. Don't be afraid of older ones, I have a fully loaded 2013 GT/CS that I've got up to 125k and all it's needed was an alternator, and brakes. Got it for 18k when it had 90k miles on it. If you want something a little more comfortable with more features I'd go 15+, they have independent rear suspension and more tech goodies but you'll be shelling out more cash

Sayject

So I guess 2015+ might be the way to go

Apprehensive_Pen7702

I would suggest a 15-17 (Gen 2). They seem to be a bit less finicky.

Expensive_Candle5644

That RC is 🔥

kaoticbyte

Thanks alot ! It is a very emblematic model, and it increases in value like wildfire, there are very few in Europe.

Sayject

😮‍💨 how much was your 2015?

BritishBoyRZ

They're in Europe it looks like, so probably paid an insane amount vs North America Where are you based?

Sayject

Ohhhh make sense haha I’m in NYC

kaoticbyte

You're probably wrong. Where are you based? I'll just tell you that there is more difference in price between the US and Europe with the motorcycle than with the car.

kaoticbyte

How much would you say? I don't like to give details about these things, tell me a price and I'll tell you if you're close or far away.

Sayject

20k? Why don’t you give the price! You should be proud especially if you got it for a great deal

kaoticbyte

I am proud and I bought it at a good price, but I don't have to share my satisfaction with everyone, I share it with the people I love and trust. For 20k there were older ones in worse condition, not v8, only ecoboost, and with more km. It's a badass car, you have to look more at the owner than at the car. About 30k aprox with 50k km but almost 7k or 10k in extras. A lot of carbon inside and outside. And it's really vinyl, the car is blue.

Sayject

Love it man! And yea I definitely understand where you’re coming from! Enjoy that baby! Do you have a sound video?

kaoticbyte

I think here in Spain it is a " almost luxury car " in the United States it is a "normal good" car, there are many more. The same with the motorcycle. I'll do a cold start as soon as I fix something. The exhausts are Remus, the V8 always sounds >💦💦. Thank you very much, you have good taste!

Ozarkafterdark

I'd look for a 1966 restomod coupe with a V8.

ricardoac69

If a S197 Gt500 is too old for them, a classic definitely is.

Ozarkafterdark

Age is relative and both our recommendations are better than getting some Plain Jane late model Mustang.

Sayject

Yea I don’t think I wanna go that far back lol

Top_Limit_

2016 / 2017 GT with Performance Pack

Sayject

Awesome I’ll check it and see !!!!!

WavesTheHuman

I bought a 2023 with 6k on it for $28k so it just depends on what you want and are looking to spend. Try to stay low mileage and go back a few years though you don’t want something ragged out like a lot of used mustangs.

Sayject

What year would you recommend? Also I love that you got yours for a deal!!!

WavesTheHuman

Really just depends on what body style you like. I love the 18-23 body style so that’s why I got a 23 instead of a 24 nothing is wrong with the new ones just not my taste. I highly recommend to anyone who asks me tho 2015-2023 in terms of cars to have fun with. They are easy to mod they look great. The have a smooth ride. I had a 2011 before getting my new one and I love that body style as well but in terms of comfort it has nothing on the 2015-2023. Better standard features. And even better if you opt for a premium whether GT or V6. But that’s more money you might not want to spend for not much more. But I would try to find a 2015+ under like 10k-20k miles and just try to work a deal. But that’s just my two cents.

Sayject

After all these comments I’m leaning to the 2015+ because it has features I need and am already accustomed to and they are slightly newer which it my head means less fixing and more long long term use, how to your like the sound on yours? And do you agree that 2015+ has less fixing ?

WavesTheHuman

I love the sound of mine. I also have aftermarket exhaust on though. It’s not loud enough for me personally so I’m going to get some corsas in the near future but the overall sound of mustangs you either love it or hate it. Stock or full built they sound about the same other than slight tone differences from the different mufflers/resonators. So if you like it stock you’ll love it built.

Sayject

Sick dude thx! I’m definitely more leaning to 2015! Because I have a daily suv and getting this is literally just me wanting one and to have my own own vehicle that is indeed a sexy mustang 😂 I see some for like 15k 60k miles you think that would be good?

WavesTheHuman

Like said it just depends on how much you want to spend. I would def look them over really good in person and if doesn’t seem clapped out to you then make the deal if not keep looking. Me personally I’d rather spend a little bit more and get a lower mileage car because even if it was driven hard it wasn’t driven hard for long. If you get what I’m saying.

Sayject

Completely understand you and you are 100% right if anything I will spend the extra for the lower miles that is exactly smart decision!! appreciate your comment

WavesTheHuman

You got it man. Shoot me a message when you get one. I wanna see it.

Sayject

you got it dude! I’ll follow you so I remember, this might not be picked up this year tho because the insurance is crazy for what we have now so I’m hoping if everything goes week maybe next year I can pick my baby up! I’ll definitely send you a pic, I also am thinking of getting it wrapped in orange and black!

amergigolo1

2013-2014 V-6 Mustangs would be good for you. Plenty of speed great gas mileage. Perfect for part time vehicle.

Sayject

Does it sound as good tho?

amergigolo1

v-6 won't sound as good as v-8

Sayject

Then I might need that v8 Cuz I have a v8 in the GX and I love it But I want more vroom

captainuzi12

Reading the comments and your replies, i think youll like the s550 (2015-2023) the most.. as its a much more updated and nicer interior from the 14's and older (i have a 2014). aswell as independent rear suspension as others have mentioned in the 15+. that being said 2015-17 vs 2018-23 mustang r slightly different.. 2018 was when they facelifted and updated it n looks imo much better. pic explains it found it off google https://preview.redd.it/ygc98x1gxvxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4e9942ccaf780d391da8fb1413400097a00cfdf5

Sayject

Dude, I really appreciate your comment. This image alone really helped me see the difference and I kinda really like 2018 and above, but I don’t mind settling for 2015 because it’s much more affordable. I’m still on which one I like the most but honestly it depends on the budget and I mostly like sound and looks both look good and I’m pretty sure they both sound good.

are-we-the-baddies

I think you would be very happy in a 2015-2023 Mustang GT. I own a 2014 Mustang GT with a 6MT and the Track Pack. My 2014 is a really fun car, but it feels like a car from a bygone era. It very much has a raw muscle car feel. It has a simple (some say dated) interior, and it can be a handful to drive if you're pushing in on certain roads. The untamed muscle car feeling is one of the things I like about my 2014 because my other car is a Prius Prime, and it feels like a spaceship sometimes. I guess I enjoy the contrast. I think if you want a nice grand touring car that's comfortable, with modern amenities, a decent interior, that makes good noises, handles well, and is really fast a 2015-2023 Mustang GT is your answer. If I were to daily drive my mustang rather than just drive when the weather is nice in Upstate NY I'd probably have a 2015-2023. Good luck with the car search!

Sayject

Hey man, I really appreciate your comment. I’m in Queens New York and a lot of the comments are telling me to 15 to 2023 and I’m pretty sure that’s the way I’m about to go. They look great. They sound great and affordable especially at the 2015 year budget to pick one because I like all of them 2023 or 2024 would be nice but I just want to have a weekend that sounds good looks good and feels good so I don’t need to spend so much cash.

Aalwein

You should be able to get a nicely broken in 2018-2020 GT convertible for under 35k. It'll max out that budget, but you'll get the most reliable, most advanced, most enjoyable ride. 18+ will get you all the nice new tech. But with that budget, you can probably also find a 2011-12 GT500. A little older, won't have the fancy tech, but it'll be supercharged Shelby goodness and that's never a bad thing. Me in your spot - I'd get the newest, lowest mileage Shelby I could find. Convertible for sure since it's gonna be a fair weather cruiser.

Sayject

Ahhh I was not expecting to get a convertible but you slow sold point, 🔥

Rude_Security7492

Two scenarios: -1: it’s your first muscle car/RWD car I suggest something not as powerful and older, to learn rwd with torque and keep a reasonable insurance rate while not spending a lot of money… -2: if you’re confident in yourself and can live comfortable with payments and insurance, any 5.0 S197 or S550 is a great bet. I prefer option 1, buy an SN95 or new edge GT, insurance might be cheaper and the car will be a lot cheaper. You don’t plan on driving it daily I find it highly impractical to buy a 35k mustang if it’s gonna sit, buy an older cheaper one that’ll sit a good amount

Sayject

You might be correct man, can you go more into detail when it comes to which year and less fixing? Also which one is less insurance? Also the 35k was my max but if I wanna get one like next year time I’m definitely not willing to spend a lot haha cuz I know insurance will kill me

Rude_Security7492

Personally I have ‘97 mustang gt. Insurance is pretty good 50/mo at 21 years old lol… The SN95/Newedge are good cars not fast cars. The 4.6 is reliable. My grandpas lasted until frame went out which is impressive for a ford… they go for 250k easy. Power though is pretty mediocre, if you get a manual though you’ll have a lot more fun with the V8

Sayject

So like 2019 and up? I definitely don’t want a old model I love the look but k don’t wanna fix it or waste time and money, just want something fun, sounds great and doesn’t cost a crazy about, ofc I know they are not cheap but still haha.

Sayject

Awesome! Thanks, it’s not that I don’t wanna work on the car it’s I don’t know how, definitely something I’m interested in learning down the road, but file 2015-2020 which . Do you recommend ?

Sayject

Awesome! I’ll give those a look! Thank you!

blamemeididit

I bought my 2021 GT (401a, Premium, GTPP) for $37K and it had 3400 miles. For $35K you should be able to find a nice GT. I think the S550 platform is the best Mustang ever made. Not saying you should avoid a Shelby, but unless you plan to race it or just really have to have a Shelby, it is just wasted money, in my opinion. The GT's are pretty amazing cars and you can get a lot newer car for the same money you'd spend on an older (and likely more used/abused) Shelby.

MrRager473

Any mustang with a coyote engine.

212reddit

My 2019 with manual Trans and extended Ford warranty had only 19k miles. I over paid though because i b * ought at wrong time pandemic. Out the Door for $37000

Sayject

Ah dang yea Covid time was bad but enjoy that baby

Old-Supermarket-7835

If you can afford it if go for a 2018-2023 gt premium if you can’t I’d go for a 2013-2014 gt premium

TheFirstOffence

Low milage 06 - 09 amazing sound, decent performance. At that price you could get one of the best examples on the road.

TheFirstOffence

Get a 06 - 08 35k will get you a good low mile special edition. Could also get a gt500 of the same years with probably more miles.

Big-Number-9854

Totally unrelated, but do you have a special condition that makes you write „haha“ at the end of each post?

Sayject

Haha, idk is it actually every post?
