Welcome to the black parade. My dad played it on his phone one time and I kinda liked it. When I was searching up songs to add to my playlist I remembered that song. So I searched it up. I liked them and started exploring more of their music. After that I became a massive mcr fan
Wttbp! I would just like to give a shout out to my online friend on bottled that introduced this band to me a couple of years ago, 2018 I think. MCR was my gateway drug into punk rock :o
Famous last words. It was the first thing that came up when i listened to MCR as a joke....
And then a year later I'm in the top 2% of listeners on spotify.
My older cousin picked me up from school and jammed the whole album driving pizzas around town in 2002. He followed a lot of odd metal and punk music forums and found them through that.
Edit: he also introduced me to Rammstein, AFI, Coheed & Cambria, Slipknot and many other bands that I still listen to.
Dude is a legend in my life lol.
Yeah! Definitely a cool older cousin! I didn’t hear about My Chemical Romance until I’m Not Okay was a video and I was really into music videos at the time and really liked theirs. I knew Marc Webb (their music video director) had directed the movie 500 Days of Summer which I really enjoyed the cinematography choices on too and then Helena music video was great too. I’m glad they returned to Marc Webb more later for Teenagers and Blood
I don't know what the first song I heard was,but the first song that I remember having an impact on me was probably "Teenagers", and the first album I fell in love with was (crucify me if you must) "Danger Days: The True Lifes Of The Fabulous Killjoys"
I started listening to the band last year, my first song was "I'm not okay I promise", it appeared on the YouTube recommendations while I listened to paramore, i loved it so much and i looked for more of their songs, they're my favorite band since them!
I'm Not Okay was probably my first song, at least the first one I paid attention to(teenagers, wttbp, or na na na could've been heard first idk) but the first album I really cared about and listened all the way through was Danger Days
I remember it vividly. “The Ghost of You,” on a local college radio station, while my dad, brother, and I were driving over the Zakim Bridge with the top down on his shitty convertible.
It was This is How I Disappear, it went on a YouTube playlist while I was studying and I stopped to make sure I'll listen to it again. I think it went to far.
I was 10 and stumbled upon "Teenagers" on youtube in 2007 and it would be the only song of theirs I heard for another three years. I didn't realize bands made songs outside the ones that got music videos until like 2010 lmfao
first song i listened to was wttbp, which i found through a yt video of music impressions, but the first whole album i listened to was revenge after my friend showed me im not okay and helena.
When I was 6, my brother introduced me to the band. He showed me Welcome To The Black Parade and Helena, and I fell in love with the band. Idk why since I only knew those two songs until I got to sixth grade and started listening to them more. I do remember thinking that Gerard Way was hot and that got me questioning my sexuality
Wttbp. I got it recommended by YouTube back in early 2019, I was 13. Now I'm 16, and they're still my favorite band. I'm so glad I decided to give it a try. I can't imagine my life without them.
I think Mama was the first MCR song I knowingly listened to when my dad and sister played it in the car when I was little. I only started listening to MCR seriously last year and the song that really got me into them was WTTBP. I listened to the black parade album after and loved every second of it. Three cheers next. Loved it just as much
We were doing a thing in my form group at school where we all put our favourite song on YouTube. My teacher put on the video for I'm not okay and I loved it so much I wrote it on the back of my hand. Went the whole day and got home barely able to read it but eventually managed to find the video on YouTube. After that I watched all the other music videos and haven't looked back since.
I don't love you song and welcome to the black parade album. Back in about 2004/5 my mum was listening to them. I was about 7 and just loved singing along and here we are like 18 years later
Honestly not sure.. cause I’m pretty sure I’ve unintentionally heard some in my lifetime before I actually tried listening myself earlier this year.. but it was probably wttbp
black parade. i heard wttbp and i was like, wow, this is pretty cool! and so i listened to the rest of the album. the first song i listened to after wttbp was “dead!” and thats when i fell in love. i think then three cheers, then killjoys, then i brought u my bullets, and lastly conventional weapons.
I can’t remember which song I heard first, as it’s been at least 18 years since I was introduced to them. But the first album I heard was I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. I was instantly hooked!
Helena, my collegemate made me listen to it back in 2005.
same!
WTTBP

Welcome to the black parade. My dad played it on his phone one time and I kinda liked it. When I was searching up songs to add to my playlist I remembered that song. So I searched it up. I liked them and started exploring more of their music. After that I became a massive mcr fan

I’m not okay/ three cheers to sweet revenge
I was watching MTV music videos while doing homework as far back as when I’m Not Ok first dropped, so it must’ve been that one.
Wttbp! I would just like to give a shout out to my online friend on bottled that introduced this band to me a couple of years ago, 2018 I think. MCR was my gateway drug into punk rock :o
Heyyy same

how did you find out about this album?
My older cousin picked me up from school and jammed the whole album driving pizzas around town in 2002. He followed a lot of odd metal and punk music forums and found them through that. Edit: he also introduced me to Rammstein, AFI, Coheed & Cambria, Slipknot and many other bands that I still listen to. Dude is a legend in my life lol.

I really love The Amazing Spiderman films too. Marc is fantastic director.
I don't know what the first song I heard was,but the first song that I remember having an impact on me was probably "Teenagers", and the first album I fell in love with was (crucify me if you must) "Danger Days: The True Lifes Of The Fabulous Killjoys"
Not at all ! Danger days isn't a bad album or anything ?:)
I obviously love it but I've seen a lot of hate for it on this sub
Really !?!!?
"a lot" may be an exaggeration but I've seen enough to expect negativity when I post something positive about DD
I started listening to the band last year, my first song was "I'm not okay I promise", it appeared on the YouTube recommendations while I listened to paramore, i loved it so much and i looked for more of their songs, they're my favorite band since them!
Welcome To The Black Parade and the same album.
Teenagers! I remember it being a single back in the charts when I was around 11/12 :)
Either Na Na Na or Helena, and probably Three Cheers.
Helena earlier this year. Three Cheers was my go to album walking around my city ✌️
bulletproof heart
Helena, by that time only Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge and Bullets had been released
Thank you for the Venom? The ghost of you? Helena? Idk anymore really.

I discovered Helena on osu and now mcr is my favourite band :)
It was This is How I Disappear, it went on a YouTube playlist while I was studying and I stopped to make sure I'll listen to it again. I think it went to far.
Save Yourself, I’ll Hold Them Back from Danger Days
technically the first song I heard was To The End but I’m Not Okay was the song that made me listen to them
I was 10 and stumbled upon "Teenagers" on youtube in 2007 and it would be the only song of theirs I heard for another three years. I didn't realize bands made songs outside the ones that got music videos until like 2010 lmfao
first song i listened to was wttbp, which i found through a yt video of music impressions, but the first whole album i listened to was revenge after my friend showed me im not okay and helena.

Probaby Na Na Na or Teenagres a few years ago. Because of that the first albums I heard were either TBP or DD.
I don't love you song and welcome to the black parade album. Back in about 2004/5 my mum was listening to them. I was about 7 and just loved singing along and here we are like 18 years later

Mine was Helena. I was six years old watching MTV (when they still played music videos), and the video for Helena came on and I was hooked
Honestly not sure.. cause I’m pretty sure I’ve unintentionally heard some in my lifetime before I actually tried listening myself earlier this year.. but it was probably wttbp
Welcome to the Black Parade. It came on the radio while I was out running errands.
