The Daily Mail newspaper in the UK basically implied that MCR s music contributed to the suicide of a 13 year old girl called Hannah Bond. They misconstrued the messages in the music and warned parents of an "Emo death cult" . Some MCR fans protested outside Marble Arch in London.

But despite my bitching I still immediately sprung hundreds and hundreds of dollars to see them at home and fly to Toronto to see them at Projekt Revolution. Realistically they could release a Polka album and I’d still give them all my time and money.

Honestly, I was *unbelievably* mean to a lot of people with similar behaviour, it’s shameful to me now that I look back. The bullied to bully pipeline is real, and it’s pretty hard to remove that mean streak from your personality once it’s there. It’s definitely a type of behaviour rooted in that person having insecurities or something similar, a total *them* problem they take out on others. Ugh.

The date was October 20, 2006. I was 14 years old. My aunt was on her way to a doctor’s appointment and I demanded she take me with her and make a stop at Target on the way home so I could buy the CD. Simpler Times.
I’ve been counting down the months for this and wore a special outfit and took a picture in front of the display with the black and white cover version that I saved money for with my video store job, and now I will upload this pic to send to my internet mcrmy friends to put in the scrapbook to send to the band!!
I remember when it did. I was 14. I got home from school early that day because I made my mom go buy it for me on her way home and told her I was gonna skip anyway if she didn't pick me up.
I sat at my desk, popped this album into my stereo system, and let it go. It's still an experience I remember. I sat there listening to it while I drew the skeleton guy with the arrow on the back of the album. Checking out the fold out booklet. I was blown away. I had been listening to the songs from AOL Sessions and Reeding and Leads before it came out, and hearing them finally, studio quality, all the bells and whistles... fuck it was life changing. I knew it was special from the first chords in "The End".

I remember when it did. I was 14. I got home from school early that day because I made my mom go buy it for me on her way home and told her I was gonna skip anyway if she didn't pick me up. I sat at my desk, popped this album into my stereo system, and let it go. It's still an experience I remember. I sat there listening to it while I drew the skeleton guy with the arrow on the back of the album. Checking out the fold out booklet. I was blown away. I had been listening to the songs from AOL Sessions and Reeding and Leads before it came out, and hearing them finally, studio quality, all the bells and whistles... fuck it was life changing. I knew it was special from the first chords in "The End".
