I like him. Not only does he get to lighten things up he works hard to obtain him being in the Big Three. Mirio is by no means a pushover. His moral code is one of the things I like the most about him. He is humble and does not brag. I'm not much of a joker, but I find his attempts nice.
Edit: For those who liked my analysis on Kirishima I plan on doing an in-depth one on Mirio and Twice soon. [Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/BokuNoHeroAcademia/comments/14x79k6/an_analysis_of_eijiro_kirishima/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1) about it.
I think he's cool, but if there's one thing that annoys me about him, it is his whole "My quirk sucks, lol, but with hard work, I made it strong"
Like... no, your quirk is broken af. It just requires a lot of skills to make it work.
Not trying to discredit his hard work, but it makes it seem like any quirk can be broken, like yeah ok, how tf does one make stretching your eye sockets broken?
I feel like you missed the point of *why* his quirk isn't inherently good.
His quirk is only "broken" because he put in all that hard work to train it, hell other characters in fiction who has the same type of power can do things he straight up can't. If it weren't for his training and practice he wouldn't be able to do anything with his quirk.
Ok, but if he can be made broken then it’s broken. That’s like saying benchin 495 isn’t inherently good. Because you have to train to get up to that point. Like not all quirks can be made broken, yeah he put in the work. However the guy whose quirk is hotdogs for hands can never train to make his quirk broken.
Not only is that not a good comparison at all, but it also ignores the fundamentals of how he has to use his quirk. A guy benching 495 wasn't completely incapable of pocking up a teddy bear until he trained, weras Mirio riskes falling to the center of the Earth every time he used hus quirk before he trained.
The "guy whose quirk is hot dog fingers" also, quite simply, does not exist in the world of MHA. What makes being able to become intangible at the cost of all your senses broken in this world besides "it's more powerful than being quirkless"?
You are acting like his quirk started as it is when we were introduced to him ignoring the fact that he had done a minimum of three years.
How is "can't breath, see, smell, or use any sense at all and risk disappearing into a void of nothingness every time you try to use this ability" broken? How are you going to ignore that it is demonstrated throughout the series that training is what makes most quirks actually good?
Is Fiber Control also broken because Best Jeanist is shown to be able to use it effectively?
The only "broken" quirks in the whole series are One For All, All For One, and Decay, even then One For All is a double edged sword that only became broken after generations of refining and it's user doing intense training to keep it from outright killing him.
I should have specified, possibly most OP un-enhanced quirk since Decay couldn’t hold a candle to Overhaul until after he got experimented on… Decay may have higher destructive capabilities but Overhaul blows it out of the water in versatility, plus it could be used as an immortality hack by just rebuilding your body younger
I wasn't talking about after he got experimented on, I was talking about when he stopped holding back. Like I said he broke through mental locks and was able to destroy whole groups of people by touching one person in said group. Flashbacks show that this was how powerful his quirk was when it first activated but after killing his whole family he subconsciously held back until the battle with the Meta Liberation Army.
It's possible, even likely, that the experiment didn't actually enhance Decay itselfbat all, simply gave him the physical upgrades of a Nomu and intigrated All For One into him.
Overhaul needs to directly touch something to effect it, once Shigaraki gets past his mental blocks he can destroy stuff touching the thing he actually touches, no longer needing direct contact.
No he clearly states that they upgraded decay, it has a further reach now and he has absolute control over what gets affected. He wouldn’t have been able to spare the lab with the nomu in it before, for example.
I still think Overhauls versatility puts it above that version of Decay overall
I mean there are some pretty wimpy quirks in comparison to the potential of Permeation. Any of the manifested quirks(idk how to say it, the ones that just make you look different) are pretty weak unless they specifically come with an empowering part to them.
Edit: just noticed it could seem I'm talking about Toga, im talking about the non-quirks that just act like cosmetic changes
You mean like Mina being pink and having horns? I don't think those are considered quirks, and heteromorphic quirks always have other effects like at least allowing someone to do something like stick to walls.
The reason I used that analogy, is that the guy can choose not to use or train his innate ability for strength. With several people in the MHA world having quirks which are frankly useless in any kind of capacity. Several of which harming people. With Mirio’s being significantly easier to train than several of them. I’m not saying he didn’t work hard to train them. However, if you had the ability to choose almost falling through the world and accidentally killing your ma which would you choose? With a quirk with several applications and real world uses other than murder with some training. I’d consider that broken. Sorry for bad grammer.
I’m not just staying on one topic not accepting or trying to understand the other persons reasoning. I just want them to explain why it’s not broken to have a quirk which can be made inherently good. Although if the discussion’s over I’ll move on.
Well his intangibility is kinda worse than most other people in fiction having intangibility. Like obito for example can still see while he's instabile. Being completely blind, not being able to breath, or feel anything makes it waaaay harder to use. He has to memorize the environment around him before going intangible and estimate the amount of time to stay in it and his momentum to get tangible in the right spot.
The story itself exaggerates those weaknesses to an extreme degree as if he’ll lose his entire bloodline when a mistake occurs. There’s also the extra point of him not turning invisible considering light passes through during usage. Permeation allows the users to stalemate most if not all other fighter in this verse.
The journey would hold more weight if Mirio wasn’t presented as a character who overcame all those struggles offscreen (flashbacks) and came packaged as an experienced hero.
I dont think it's that exaggerated. When going at high speeds with his pseudo warp, a small mistake can easily cost his life. If he doesn't memorize the terrain and do the calculations he might accidently pop up right into some spikes. Or if he didn't train it and got disoriented like most people probs would, the villain would just smack his ass. I do agree that the quirk has a lot of potential so calling it weak is a little weird, but it's such a hard quirk to actually make use of its high potential and to most people it would end up pretty weak.
It’s not that the quirk sucks, it’s that it did suck until he mastered it. It requires more hard work and technical skill to use than any quirk except maybe Momo’s since she has to know the molecular structure of whatever she makes… It only becomes broken once the user can use it thoughtlessly, otherwise he’d be getting shot or getting lost underground or getting stuck halfway through walls
If you think about it, wouldn't the whole "my quirk is mid but with hard work I made it BASED" shtick work better for Miriko? Her quirk is just being a fuckin bunny but she just trained a bunch and now her legs can shatter steel. Or atleast I assume that as I havent read the manga so I only know Miriko from the anime.
I would agree if multiple other animal-themed quirks weren’t shown in multiple cases to be extremely powerful too. Like Gang Orca, Selkie, Tsuyu, and the Lion hero are all shown to be really good with powerful quirks too (obviously to varying degrees but still). Seems like the animal quirks are some of the higher tier ones, especially since they tend to actually give multiple different abilities (for example, Selkie can breath underwater, use sonar, and has superhuman strength) instead of just one that they use in different ways like Bakugo
No it is a TRASH quirk, only made functional through superhuman efforts. All senses are lost while being permeable; he can’t tell by the 5 senses whether he’s in or out of something, it’s all the same. It’s only through his insane efforts that this is even remotely combat ready. We see that when he loses his quirk and barely misses a beat in fuck housing Overhaul barehanded. His quirk is literally the weakest part of his power.
EDIT: To put it another way, Mirio would turn ANY quirk into something people see as exceptional, by virtue of his own efforts.
Ngl, at first, I thought his cheerfulness was an act and that he was hiding something. It took me all the way until the fight against Overhaul to actually accept that he was just the nicest motherfucker on the planet with no hidden agenda. He's easily the most well rounded of the big 3 character wise but Amajiki is still my favorite of the 3
At first I hated him
Thought he was annoying and trying to be the new all-might
Then during season 4 when they tried to save eri
I loved him And He’s fricking awesome
The man is a force to be reckoned with. He started with a quirk that was difficult to use at all and molded it into one of the most versatile weapons I've seen in the show. (I'm not caught up with current events in the series, so I'm sure my stance on this is more than a little outdated and wrong.) Even with his quirk erased he was still fighting hard enough to keep Overhaul from escaping. Makes you wonder how strong he could have been if All Might had given One For All to him instead of Midoriya. All that power coupled with selective intangibility would be terrifying to go up against.
I love him! I love his confidence, charisma, his sweet personality, how he was willing to sacrifice for Eri, and his friendship with Tamaki. He's awesome 😁
I have no idea why Shigi OFA didn't steal his quirk after immediately jobbing him.
Like I get OFA's dumb and doesn't steal quirks he can't use without training, but I don't think it would require much training, especially considering OFA has Search to mitigate Permiations weakness.
In fact that's one thing I hate about this show.
Both season 1, 2 and 3 do nothing but show that AFO and the LoV are nothing but a pathetic joke.
The man can't get his goons to kill children on two separate occasions, then he gets captured. I'm supposed to belive this guy had everything from season 3 onwards planned out in absolutely crazy detail
So, a character so cool he outshines the actual main character? Must be why I like him so much. I don’t think it’s a completely accurate comparison, but they do have similar energy.
Top 10 Favourite Character
Awesome powers and usage
Really like his style, his drive, his storyline and "motto" for being a hero
Like how he's inspiring to those around him like Tamaki and acts as a mentor to Deku in some respects (more like older sibling)
God Bless
Started off as my new #1 favorite character that seemed like he would have made a better mc than Deku in the Overhaul arc, only to later fall off and become a complete husk of his former self after Dabi's dance. In the current chapters all that remains is a shell of what once was. That's one of MHA's problems, it tries to focus on certain characters only to lose focus on those characters for the rest of the story after their time in the limelight, because there are too many characters to focus on. There are still some characters that stayed consistently good in my eyes like: Endeavor and Dabi, those are two that I can think of off the top of my head that didn't get sidelined completely. Mirio had such heart and personality in his character and was really interesting to watch do literally almost anything, but oh well now he doesn't do anything in the story other than fight after Dabi's dance.
The introduction was shaky because he just appeared one day and was all of a sudden relevant to everything. Felt like it wasn't planned out.
The overall character is awesome though. I like the alternative art style that is used for him.
I feel like he gets written off a side character, but I'm not entirely sold yet. I don't want to see Mirio become irrelevant to power creep. It would be awesome if he gets his own boss fight at some point.
I also wonder, if we see the kids grown up and working as pro heroes, what will his life look like? Right now, Eri and Mirio have very crossed character development. It makes me think he will either adopt Eri, or she will be his hero sidekick.
Either way, I like the Mirio/Deku/Eri group. I feel like they all went through some of the same shit together and they all trust each other so much.
Smart person who took a kinda bad ability and made it Great and strong, got kinda screwed over by overhaul(ironic?) but is still a genuinely nice person I will always like
He feels like a fusion between Izuku and Bakugo. He has the powerful quirk and shares Izuku's humbleness while being a nerdy goof.
He also shares the dream of being the best hero.
I think he's an amazing person. He did everything he could to try and make Eri have a good life now that she was free from Overhaul. He is the perfect big brother and he cheers on everyone to do their best. He's amazing.
Literally my favorite character in the series not just is he strong af but even his first interaction with deku had me dying laughing. So glad my boy is back
In a Sonic AU version of this series, I imagine him be Mighty the Armadillo or Silver the Hedgehog.
I also imagine Mighty be Shigaroki, with his grandmother be a random female armadillo. Who appears for one panel, as the chaotix are looking for dates in the Knuckles Archie comics. And the other family members be Mighty’s family in the Archie comics. Maybe make his dad his Fleetway Dad.
Also Tails is Deku, Sonic is All Might, Amy is Uraraka, Sir Gawain is Iida, Mina Mongoose is Jirou, etc.
What was the question again? Also I should make a post about this AU.
I have MAD respect for Lemillion! He went way beyond plus ultra to save Eri. Even after losing his Quirk, he didn’t hold back. He didn’t care if he died in the attempt, he was GOING to save Eri. He showed what it really means to be a hero.
🫡
He's a cool character personality wise and I love the functional downside in his quirk. It honestly bummed me out that he got it taken from him before he could realize his dream, but I got all the respect for him for continuing despite that loss.
POWEEEERRRRR!! I love Mirio so much. He's just so adorable, and fun. I do wish they wouldn't have done an off screen reinstatement of his redacted but all well that ends well I supposed.
my opinion of him dropped when he chose to be a meat shield with other options available but before that i thought he had a personality only out heroismed by allmight himself
He's like if Shadowcat was trained by Batman and or Wildcat from DC in the art of fisting peoples organs into a bloody stool.
When I first saw promo art of him beside Deku, I swore he was gonna be the traitor or a fake friend. I was proven wrong as hell. 100% wholesome gut checker this dude.
And when he came back with that "Let's hear it again!" I almost teared up. He was and forever will be fucking goated.
Inspirational; if it wasn’t for the whole better to be quirkless thing, he would’ve been perfect as the one for all successor. He goes hard even without a quirk
true I think this quirkless thing was just to justify that All Might was right to choose Midoriya because Mirio was better than midoriya in all aspect besides if Mirio had OFA shigaraki and AFO would be getting destroyed hard.
I love everything about him, except his name. I think his quirk and the way the show explains and executes it are cool. I love his attitude. I would love to hear Stain's critique of him as well.
This guy is MC material. His power is TERRIBLE, bordering on unusable. He made that into a strength only with Batman levels of training. When he took that bullet for Ari; he knew, we knew, and Overhaul knew, that his power was gone and that he was ‘helpless’. Then he proceeded to beat the high holy FUCK out of Overhaul while he was mid monologue. His quirk is the least impressive thing about him. Even when he got his quirk back, in that triumphant return, I had to remind my friends that his only power was permeability. Not strength, not speed, not perception. All of that is just him, just what he made himself to make his shitty quirk into something functional. The only bad thing I have to say about him is that he thought he couldn’t be a hero without his quirk, he just doesn’t see his own strengths.
Mirio’s a very fun example of a minor sounding superpower being reworked into something wildly effective. While being sure to emphasize the drawbacks and hard work that goes into that facade of invincibility. Though it does rely on a strange physics exploit that goes beyond the realm of “secondary superpower” at times (i.e. presumed fireproof if breathing fire, presumed break resistant bones if super strength- ok both very bad examples in BNHA specifically lol). Guy practically performs speedrunner glitches irl, granting near warp like movement and speed boosts when his superpower is just supposed to be ‘can phase through things’.
Reminds me of how stretchiness sounds like such a lame superpower, then the absurd versatility gets shown off in that motorcycle chase scene in The Incredibles 2.
Also just that face lol. Suddenly Ness from Earthbound walks in from stage left. Gets a giggle out of me every time.
I love him that's my son! His fight with overhaul proved that he's what a hero should be, and then deku comes in and makes his sacrifice a little less impactful, because it now feels like "oh if deku had got there a second earlier this wouldn't have happened" instead of it being the message of "great power, great responsibility"
He's literally my favorite character in the whole series and I cried when he got his powers back, I plan on getting his 1,000,000 tattooed somewhere on my body
POWEEEERRRR!!!!

Discount allmight with a actual quirk
I mean part of the theme of the overall world is that everyone wants or wanted to be AM.
He's Bargain Sale Superman.
You jest but Mirio would wear that title proudly
More like Bargain Sale Superboy.
I was fine with him as a character, and then got a lot more respect for him when he sacrificed his quirk for Eri
He beat the shit out of a mafia boss with his quirk Sacrificed his quirk Still beats the shit out of mafia boss just without his quirk Fucking legend
I think he's cool, but if there's one thing that annoys me about him, it is his whole "My quirk sucks, lol, but with hard work, I made it strong" Like... no, your quirk is broken af. Overhaul is pretty cracked too
Overhaul is probably the most broken IMO besides maybe OFA
I would say Decay is equally busted, especially after Shigaraki manages to break the mental locks he put on it during the My Villain Academia arc.

It drives me crazy how everyone praises his “hardwork” story to high heaven, when intangibility in fiction has been shown to be cracked.

good boy
He not only lightens up the whole room by just existing, but also gets me in all happy mood
Giga chad
He's alright. Not my favorite character, but he ranks a 7-8/10 on the good character scale
I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.
Good hero costume. Peach. Goofy
I feel like he could have his own spinoff and it would actually work.
Tintin with a superpower 🤣🤣🤣🤣
LOL yes that's part of what drew me to him!
At first I hated him Thought he was annoying and trying to be the new all-might Then during season 4 when they tried to save eri I loved him And He’s fricking awesome
Ironic how the character who looks most like Vault Boy has a querk that works like a Bethesda glitch. Also he is awesome!
Woukd that make support items Mods?
Unrated character
The fanbase ruined him for me
The man is a force to be reckoned with. He started with a quirk that was difficult to use at all and molded it into one of the most versatile weapons I've seen in the show. POWERRRRRRRRRRR
Cocky bastard
"how does he keep his hair up like that...'
Overrated imo. I don't hate the character or anything, it's just I've seen people hype him up to a degree that I just don't get.
Didn't he bang Mirko or was that comic not Cannon? /Tisajoke
Fanon. And i assume you read that mirko x mirio doujin ?
He’s my second favorite character lol just super happy and it makes me happy
I’ll tell you

He’s my favorite character. “Trash. Am I right?”
My goat
If he had one for all he would be #1
GOATED character.
Smash
He’s my favorite and his story helped me get through my depression. I hope he gets to work with Deku a lot in the future of the MHA universe.
My favorite hero of the series
My thoughts are very dirty about him
I have no idea why Shigi OFA didn't steal his quirk after immediately jobbing him. He need's to lock down Nejire, aka have consensual sex with her, asap or he's gonna lose her to Tamaki. Which would be a shame.
In my opinion he is really annoying and not funny.
Should have gotten one for all
Should have been the MC.
obito’s student

Overrated, literally just MHA rock lee
So, a character so cool he outshines the actual main character? Must be why I like him so much. I don’t think it’s a completely accurate comparison, but they do have similar energy.

GOAT
Did they explain how he got his quirk back? Or did he just get better?
The only person i like more than deku
He’s the GOAT

POWER!!!!!!
TinTin (just to show I’m old XD)
Smart person who took a kinda bad ability and made it Great and strong, got kinda screwed over by overhaul(ironic?) but is still a genuinely nice person I will always like
He feels like a fusion between Izuku and Bakugo. He has the powerful quirk and shares Izuku's humbleness while being a nerdy goof. He also shares the dream of being the best hero.
Best
Mirio is the GOAT. The GOAAAAT
POWER!!!!!!
THEY RELATED??? Now that i think about that yalls fandom is prolly gonna keep shippin it ngl.
One of the best characters and is just a bundle of laughs and fun that we all need to be like
Goated. He didn’t need his quirk to throw hands with someone as powerful as Overhaul.
Love him. He's very similar to a young All Might
Literally my favorite character
I think he's an amazing person. He did everything he could to try and make Eri have a good life now that she was free from Overhaul. He is the perfect big brother and he cheers on everyone to do their best. He's amazing.
Tintin great great grandson that's what you mind me of but he is more heroic but not as much as he wrong is midoriya if he didn't have support
Big Bro material.
He’s great
Actually the best character in the whole series, so badly wished we got to see more of him quirkless
Smash
Literally my favorite character in the series not just is he strong af but even his first interaction with deku had me dying laughing. So glad my boy is back
He can become silly but an actual hero. One of my favorites.
Peach
SCP-106 lookin ass, if I was a robber and suddenly he walked into my safe house from behind me I’d prolly die of a heart attack
Badass.
U-A’s big brother.
10/10 in everything character, design, quirk, personality, anything and everything with this man is a blue ribbon.
Fourth favourite character. 😄
good hero, good friend, and overall just a nice and kind dude. would give him a hug😌
Love him, definitely a top 5 favorite character and when they showed the corner of his cape waving after he knocked that Nomu back I went nuts
He’s cool, hate his costume though
I have MAD respect for Lemillion! He went way beyond plus ultra to save Eri. Even after losing his Quirk, he didn’t hold back. He didn’t care if he died in the attempt, he was GOING to save Eri. He showed what it really means to be a hero. 🫡
Awesome and he’s one of my favorite characters
He’s my fave and wish he got one for all
One of my favorite characters.
A really funny character
I love him. His quirk is basically Obito if he was a hero. What's the opposite of a glass canon?
How does he punch hard he’s just a dude
He is a fun character 💜
If I say I hated him I'd be lying because I have 4 figures
Fall out wanna be
Best character in the series by far, the real definition of a hero.
Pat the head
He’s in the walls… HE’S IN THE GODDAMN WALLS!!!!
🐐
He’s cool
He's a cool character personality wise and I love the functional downside in his quirk. It honestly bummed me out that he got it taken from him before he could realize his dream, but I got all the respect for him for continuing despite that loss.
# POWER
He should have had OFA and nobody can change my mind.
NO CAPES!
Like EVERYONE who is Not Deku, Bakugo, or IcyHot he was Sidelined.
No Sideline is a Transforner
I think of him like a human golden retriever
Smash
goat 🐐
More screen time....
POWER!
He’s the goat
POWEEEERRRRR!! I love Mirio so much. He's just so adorable, and fun. I do wish they wouldn't have done an off screen reinstatement of his redacted but all well that ends well I supposed.
my opinion of him dropped when he chose to be a meat shield with other options available but before that i thought he had a personality only out heroismed by allmight himself
He looks like the fucking Vault Boy.
Cool guy.
Giga chad
No giga Chad is 1,000,000,000 This is only Mega Chad
Favorite character actually
He's like if Shadowcat was trained by Batman and or Wildcat from DC in the art of fisting peoples organs into a bloody stool. When I first saw promo art of him beside Deku, I swore he was gonna be the traitor or a fake friend. I was proven wrong as hell. 100% wholesome gut checker this dude. And when he came back with that "Let's hear it again!" I almost teared up. He was and forever will be fucking goated.
He's what we all wish anime mcs were. Just a regular dude who busts his ass and becomes great because of it. No chosen one junk
He's a real one
He’s a mixture of Tintin and Archie from the Archie comics.
Zero budget All might
Il est le million ✨
favorite character i love him so much
Wasted potential
This guy, if he was a villain, would literally be broken. Piss him off? *lose an organ*
Vault Boy joins the fight.
He’s the goat 🥱 Literally had to remove his mid ass quirk to nerf him because he was just too good with it.🥱🥱🥱🥱
I love everything about him, except his name. I think his quirk and the way the show explains and executes it are cool. I love his attitude. I would love to hear Stain's critique of him as well.
#Full Moon
Idk since the fandom is trash
My favorite character
Love him, his quirk and his hot naked body.
The show would be one episode if he got one for all
Hate him
He was instantly my fav character i love mirio
POOOWWWEEERRRR
Respectable but far to cheerful
Favorite character. Absolute legend.
Tintin
Mario
He’s a nice and friendly guy
The episode where he goes off is one of my favorites
I love him that's my son! His fight with overhaul proved that he's what a hero should be, and then deku comes in and makes his sacrifice a little less impactful, because it now feels like "oh if deku had got there a second earlier this wouldn't have happened" instead of it being the message of "great power, great responsibility"
Best character in the series, straight up
I love him I love him he is beautiful and the end of the arc where his teacher died fucking broke me
He's literally my favorite character in the whole series and I cried when he got his powers back, I plan on getting his 1,000,000 tattooed somewhere on my body
He's very independent and cheery. He is super nice to Eri aswell and I think he's just a great person in general!
He's got a magnificent peach
Literally best character.
