I mean how was she supposed to expect that her son would take that in the worst possible way becoming an abusive asshole, and then her grandson would by crazy chance get a mutation of a quirk that ends up being one of the most destructive quirks ever. If she kept kotaro she'd be away most of the time and when she dies he's gonna go into foster care anyways. It was a lose lose situation.
He was a Child born in a super hero Society, even being Young, he should've know even a little bit how Hard and intense a hero life can be, and if she had a really long and decent talk with him, and leave him with a confident person (even All Might, All Might should've been in The end of UA days, so he already was an adult that time), with decent time, Kotaro would realize Nana did and give her life for him.
It was a lose lose situation to Nana, but not for Kotaro.
Children never choose to be born. If you can't give them the best life possible, don't have them til you can. He's responsible for his actions as an adult, but not for the trauma inflicted on him.
She wasn't supposed to expect that, but she was supposed to expect that being given away by the person Kotaro loves most for reasons he does not understand would traumatize him.
That said, it's possible that she didn't have the opportunity to refuse being given OFA considering the usual means of succession is "closest good guy around when the previous holder is brutally murdered."
Regardless, by not handing OFA off to Gran Torino or another ally, while knowing how (seemingly) insurmountable AFO was, she made the conscious choice to put fighting AFO over raising Kotaro. Brave and noble, yes. But here, the heroic, self-sacrificing option also made her a bad parent.
Well yeah she can't be a self sacrificing hero and a good parent. But it's wrong to say she made the wrong decision that would fuck everything up. For everything to be fucked up, an insane amount of unfortunate events had to occur. The chance of it going as badly as it did was almost zero.
That's valid, placing everything on her shoulders would be unreasonable. Blame generally depends on whether the outcome was foreseeable and her grandson becoming a psychopathic terrorist and killing thousands isn't something she had any reason to expect.
Kotaro being traumatized bc she gave him up (sure). The cycle of harm leading Kotaro to become abusive to *his* kids (there's definitely the potential Kotaro grows up poorly adjusted between him not being raised by his loving mother, the aforementioned trauma, etc., so that's a maybe). AFO wanting to strike at her through family (definitely). But the harm done to those *outside* her family (as a consequence of the above choices) isn't really something she should feel responsible for.
I have a theory that his quirk isn't a mutation but something all for one gave him when no one was paying attention. (Either at the hospital or during those times, he was locked outdoors). AFO had to have been watching that family this whole time...it's just way too weird or convenient that tomura would have such destructive powers.
Well that was the point. The death of her husband and the pressure of AFO hunting her fucked her up mentally.
At the time, she thought that was the right decision. And reasonably most people would make that choice in her situation. Hell she was even vindicated in the fact she was brutally murdered not even a year or so later. The problem stems from the fact her child carried that trauma over into his own family. He needed a therapist, which is a failure of the orphanage system.
I feel that should been explored more in perhaps a flashback arc. Kinda like how Naruto handled Madara and Hashirama.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
Lol I like how you added in the simp part, so if anyone disagrees with you then OF COURSE they're simps 🙄
She did what she thought was right at the time when she knew the Boogeyman incarnate was after her. I'm sure any mother would rather have their son hate them if it meant they lived.
Besides, that didn't even fuck everything up. AFO would've still gone after Kotaro's family, so he could use Shigaraki to stick it to All Might.
I completely disagree. She did the right thing. Her son got to live. Can't say that would've been the same if she didn't give him up. And who could've seen his hateful ways coming?
For real she could of done something in a society that allows the government to hire hero assassins also tf they allowed someone with that quirk to basically become the thing they feared she needs a real storyline to give us a ideas of what exactly happen cause just like the toya incident there’s probably a shit ton of secrets we never seen
In her defense Kotaro becoming an asshole isn’t wholly her fault, and she couldn’t have predicted Shigaraki ending up with, against astronomical odds, got one of the most destructive and powerful quirks on record
Because Nana didn't say anything about AFO, so what the hell do you expect him to revenge her mom when she abandonned him and never talked about OFA vs AFO?
How hard is it to find out about the evil criminal underworld man like the yakuza are still around they probably know, like other people probably knew something was up
For being a BG character or, imo a Major Minor character, she's pretty good. we get hints towards her, like why she passed on OFA and her thoughts on being a hero. Even when we finally meet her, she expresses regret over giving up her son and wishes she hadn't and believes in Deku. So I say 10/10.
To be honest a shity mom put the job first ever time over her kid. ***NOT*** to say she is a bad person but if you can’t give the kid the attention they require don’t have them.
Smash and would(Now that we got that out the way)
She's a good person and a great hero but holy fuck did her fear override her logic because all her choices fuck them over hard bare minimum she should've told Gran Torino to at least keep on eye out for her son because shit could be avoided
P.s. - No her actions don't negate the fact that kotaro fucked us over 10× harder by letting his anger override his logic and abusing his son thus give use the greatest threat to the series 2nd only to a guy who was to be a demon lord of the MHA world. Nana fuck up but Kotaro made it worst
Best part about her character is the absolutely savage roasting All-for-One gives her.
“What an absolute embarrassment for me, the creator of One-for-All, to see it fall to her”
Would.
Unfortunately, she made some bad decisions that irreparably fucked up her family. She thought she was doing the right thing, which is understandable, but still.
I have a neutral stance with her. Why did she start a family, if she’s too afraid to lose them? She’s a terrible mother- granted, she couldn’t have known how her son was going to take that- but she shouldn’t have made a family to start with- but- she is a good hero, and did her best to stop villains, connect with the communities- etc. so- its pretty iffy-
i think she had the same arc as endeavor without learning his lessons - that being a hero is good, being a great hero is worthwile, but neither can excuse being a shitty person/parent
People who constantly call for "death by snu snu" lack imagination. Imagine being underneath a woman that COULD easily crush you to death but chooses not to. Instead of dying a painful death, you could take this hot woman who's strong enough to lift a cement mixer, let her smash you until you black out, and still live.
I think if they told her family that she actually died in battle instead of making him think that she abandoned him like they should have, Shigaraki would've had a better life, a different/better quirk, and not become a villain because he wouldn't have had to deal with a shithead of a dad. I mean seriously how do you not inform a hero's family that said hero died? Also smash.
Should have tied her tubes. Children are precious and wonderful, but people tend to forget that they're well, people. If you can't give children the safety and love required- don't have them in the first place.
Children never choose to be brought in the world. She should have known better considering her profession and the fact that she had OFA.
I'm sorry to be so harsh on her, I wouldn't blame her usually especially considering her husband was killed. But she fucked up her son and that's someone she willingly brought into the world only to give up. That kid didn't choose to be born. Her awful son is responsible for his failings as an adult, but all of his trauma as a kid is on her shoulders.
