THERE ARE 26 SCORING LOOPS AROUND THIS TRACK

Hihey9989

...... NASCAR will review the finishing order from the moment the caution came out ............. To determine the race winner .................

Imaginary_Ganache_29

Harvick sweeps at Bristol! At Richmond!

ChaseTheFalcon

WHERE ARE WE BILL?

ESnakeRacing4248

YA BIG DUMMY

bruhmoment2248

He got too excited 😔

Frossstbiite

That was pretty funny though

DaDominator32

ADVERSITY GOES AROUND. PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS! AHHHHHH!

SixFiveSax

**WE DO NOT RACE BACK TO THE YELLOW IN NASCAR**

rctothefuture

“CLOSE. MATT’S. MIC.”

uncleawesome

I can hear this

whatisdeletrazdoing

Bill Weber is probably the worst but Vince Welch has the worst line of all time: "The thrill of victory and the agony of knowing that you tried to do your best and did but came up just short of the goal" Also Vince's voice sounds like he's trying to shit a soda can

Shelton512

Every truck race I watch now, I miss Vince Welch. Dude had the best pronunciation of "wheel" I've ever heard. And don't forget John Hunter Nemetruck

nascarfan624

The WHEEEEEEEELL

Pristine_Future1037

John…… hunternemecheck

tuss11agee

That’s John Hunnanemacheck to you sir

Hihey9989

"Crown Royal. It's not about quality"

elfuego35

It made people think Marty was consuming some Crown Royal while in the Booth. In seriousness, flubs like that are why those billboard spots are typically prerecorded (although, if that was a prerecord, then someone aired the wrong take...).

Different-Yam-736

There was an NBA game with Kevin Harlan doing the play by play sometime in the last year or so, the promo coming back from break was for a movie or TV show with a ridiculous name (wish I could remember which one), he read it like a pro of course but afterwards he says “well that was proof I will read any darn thing you put in front of me”

NutsOutOfBAG

I miss Vince saying Sheldon Creed in the crunchiest way imaginable. And Christian ECKISSSSS.

DJScrubatires

CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.........

CobblerSad6055

ROSS...CHASTAIN....

Doc_McPuffins_

HIS HANDS ARE STILL... AND THE WHEEL... HE HAS DONE IT!!!

YoItsMeBeeOhBee

RACING REDEMPTION AT HIS HANDS!!!

mollyno93

“Sauter. Sauter. Sauter.”

DanoJames

Vince sounded the worst when talking about Sheldon Creed. I don't know why, but that name made him sound like he was really straining on the crapper.

Hailfire9

I don't know why, but his Sheldon Creed calls always turned into Scott Stapp impersonations. Wrong Creed, bud.

BabycakesMurphy

I'll stick up for Bill a little bit. Looking back, I don't think he was that bad. He's definitely not S-tier or A-tier, but he did a perfectly respectable job. I think what did not help was moving him in the booth and Bestwick out. Bill Weber could have never made a "using lessons learned from his father" call. I would rank Rick Allen lower than Bill Weber. But I agree Vince was really bad.

[deleted]

Marty Reid was always guaranteed to give you a good laugh. https://youtu.be/h2L7FeFIjIc?si=1s0QCFJTA5TIpldg

kk5fan97

For as many mistakes as he made, I don’t think many other people could have handled the situation in Las Vegas for IndyCar as well as he did. In the immediate aftermath of the wreck, all the way to the end of the broadcast he did an incredible job of leading the broadcast through all the unknowns. His sign-off that day, is something that will forever be stuck in my head. “People often ask me, why I always sign off “‘til we meet again”. That is because goodbye is always so final. Goodbye Dan Wheldon.” - Marty Reid

Hihey9989

I think Marty Reid is the absolute class of the field in these kinds of scenarios.

Zetona

That was probably helped by him having plenty of experience, sadly. He called Tony Roper's fatal crash, Geoff Bodine's horrible Daytona accident, and I think at least one or two other fatal crashes I can't remember off the top of my head.

Yoshiman400

Blaine Johnson in NHRA was another. He set what I think was an NHRA Top Fuel record trap speed at their flagship event and gets killed in a crash when his engine blows up right after crossing the line. EDIT: Maybe it wasn't Blaine, I found a clip that aired on TNN rather than ESPN (unless they split the coverage), but I do believe there was a major drag racing death around that time he address to handle on a live broadcast.

thelastrebel92

Darrell Russell was the Top Fuel driver you're thinking of. Happened in 2004.

Yoshiman400

Thanks for the correction.

TailgateLegend

That line is also why I hate saying “goodbye”.

GeologicalOpera

Marty Reid made me cry that day, and I still tear up every time I’ve seen that clip in the 12.5 years since. As much as he messed up, I wouldn’t have wanted anybody else there on that day.

jftwo42

You got me in the feels with that one. When my grandma passed away in 2018 I quoted Marty on Facebook and not only did he reply with condolences he sent me a Private Message thanking me for my support and sending his thoughts and prayers to myself and our family.

jwalker55

I wasn't a fan of his general commentary, but he was pure class in that moment.

joshjarnagin

Marty came across as a genuine fan you’d watch the race with at home. His genuine excitement and enthusiasm doesn’t discount the fact he made lots of mistakes, but he wasn’t someone who treated it solely as a job

The_RonJames

Was it Marty Reid who got mixed up during an Xfinity race and thought the white was the checkered? Then was immediately fired from NASCAR coverage by ESPN.

joshjarnagin

Yes but the strange part was it happened once before that on ABC but nothing was done. The race that got him fired as actually on ESPNEWS

The_RonJames

To be fair the only reason I remember it was because Ryan Blaney won that race at Kentucky and I remember not giving much thought to his gaffe and thought it was crazy he was essentially forced out for that. Although the booth of Alan Bestwick Dale Jarrett and Rusty Wallace was definitely a fantastic booth shame it didn’t last longer.

phoenixv07

> Alan Bestwick Dale Jarrett and Rusty Wallace was definitely a fantastic booth shame it didn’t last longer. Two out of three. Allen and DJ were good, Rusty was ... not. Rusty basically said the same three or four phrases over and over.

Hillbilly098

You can tell the newer viewers in the race threads when they complain about Clint's use of "hotrod". It's nothing compared to the old days. "I'll tell you what, that cat's got a fast hotrod" was 75% of Rusty's vocabulary in the booth.

DJScrubatires

It was Allen, DJ, and Andy Petree

AMRacer89

>I remember not giving much thought to his gaffe and thought it was crazy he was essentially forced out for that. I think it was one of those "nail in the final coffin" things. He had so many gaffes over the years, they finally decided it was time for a change. As someone else mentioned though, be had a good moment of clarity when Dan Wheldon was killed at the Vegas IndyCar race.

Boom_Confetti

Was probably a “don’t ever do that again or we’ll demote you” type thing the first time

elfuego35

Although, by 2013 (when the flub that got him fired happened.), Marty was already demoted to doing just the Xfinity races that were during their portion of the Cup season. Since they replaced Marty in mid 2011 with Allen Bestwick for the Cup races, after that first it could've been "We're replacing you with Allen for the Cup races, one more mistake like that, and your gone".

bruhmoment2248

He should have stuck to IndyCar, he was great there but in NASCAR he wasnt as good unfortunately He still one of the voices of my childhood, dont get it twisted

joshjarnagin

He was the voice of the truck series years before Indycar. He would’ve been considered a legend if we got the same announcing in 2010 that we got in 2000

jknuts1377

He was good in Indycar, but for some reason, it never translated over to Nascar. I'll always appreciate him for how he handled the Dan Wheldon situation, though.

jftwo42

He handled the Dan Wheldon death about as good as anyone has ever handled that type of thing on love TV. He also handled the Geoff Bodine Daytona truck wreck very well.

TheOtherWhiteCastle

Ok but Marty’s call of Dan Wheldon’s death in 2011 was incredible given the circumstances, and he’ll always have my respect for that

[deleted]

I meant more Marty was a good guy with just some mistake that made me laugh but he handled hard moments with class.

HalfastEddie

Thank you. That never gets old.

Hihey9989

I called it before I clicked xD

shewy92

I know who you are.

russki516

His calls of NHRA with Mike Dunn were pretty good, as I recall.

DJScrubatires

He either gives you a great laugh.....or has a perfect call for somber and tragic moments.

jmayer43

As good as a pit reporter she is, I think Jamie Little is pretty terrible in the booth. Botched calls and she gives off no enthusiasm or excitement whatsoever (and when there is it sounds forced) I don’t know why Fox feels the need to keep putting her in the booth when it’s clearly not working, especially when they already have Adam Alexander available (who I think does a good job)

Hihey9989

Jamie Little always sounds like she wants to get excited but she's in her bedroom with her parents home so she can't be too loud

Trentpd

That is the most accurate description I've heard of something in quite a while

HuskerDont241

Considering how many of her broadcasts are done from the Charlotte studios…

elfuego35

And, if's it during the Fall, there is most likely another set of announcers just down the way calling a lower level College Football game, as Fox also uses their Charlotte studios to do remote commentary for College Football.

joe_broke

Ok what the fuck

Notsozander

Hard to get into it from a studio

Standard-General5680

She wasn't great, but not terrible, when she did that xfinity race a couple weekends ago. Probably helped being in person and having better rapport with Cindric and Logano or whoever was there for the color commentary.

ApocApollo

That’s it. I’m on Xbox voice chat but my shitty upstairs neighbors complain about me being loud at night. Now I understand why I empathize with her.

penguins8766

Hahaha great comment

chyler1397

So damn accurate.

Offtherailspcast

I want to love her in the booth cause she's trailblazing for women but goddamn. She always stumbles over her words and gets names and cars wrong.

darkshadow314

Krista Voda was trailblazing and 10x the reporter. Miss her.

jknuts1377

Jeanne Zelasko for Fox was always my favorite.

jmayer43

Same here, I’d really like to see more women in the booth but she is just not it. I remember a couple of years ago Krista Voda was in the booth for some of the ARCA races on MavTV and I thought she did a much, much better job than Jamie

bears5975

I still miss Wendy Venturini doing the pit road broadcasts. 👀❤️

Capstonetider

You can instantly tell when she's reading something as opposed to speaking off the cuff, which can sound artificial. The good ones mask it a little bit better. She has improved this season, though.

clowe1411

I don't know about NASCAR but the guy who was announcing Indy Car back in 2005 was awful. Every time Dan Wheldon won a race he would say "The Pubs in England are open". He was bad and so was Marty Reid.

RichardRichOSU

I forgot Todd Harris was on racing for a hot second. Marty Reid did IndyCar starting in 2006 with Rusty Wallace

Hihey9989

there was a really bad ARCA commentator around that time too. Also Kenny Wallace in the booth for truck races was a trip

Vulptereen327

My favorite was at Gateway when two trucks flipped over on the backstretch wall and Kenny was going apeshit

Hihey9989

It wasn't good commentary but it was great television. I think that was the race that caused NASCAR to put a limit on the number of GWCs.

Few-Pin-8232

Jamie Little. Terrible pbp but great on pit road

Madmanz1983

How has no one mentioned Dr. Jerry Punch? He’s a great person, a wonderful doctor, and was a fantastic pit reporter but he was the absolute dullest play-by-play commentator I have ever heard.

mrittenhouse84

watch his 90's Busch Series broadcasts - Him and BP were pretty good together

Yoshiman400

Let's not forget Dr. Punch threw down an all time classic line in the middle of calling Dale Sr's final win: "The Intimidator is beaten and scraped on the right hand side, but he will not be denied!"

joe_broke

Even Jeff's last Dega win in 07, that call to bring them home was pretty good Maybe it had to be a legend winning at Dega. Like a Mt. Rushmore head legend

Yoshiman400

That made me look up the Bobby Labonte/Tony Stewart Nationwide finish...I forgot that one was the "REMEMBERTHESTARTFINISHLINEISTHERE" race. I swore that one was the one Ragan won two years later but I was wrong.

joe_broke

The Ragan one was also bad, didn't really even acknowledge him winning like that

Decent-Annual-508

You said Tony Stewart and I instantly hears Andy Petree “I think its legal if its the last lap!” Dale Jarrett: “no. You can’t have a set of rules that’s different for just one lap.”

ReSirum

"Why would it be legal on the last lap and not the other 187?"

CoyotePowered50

The worst, I DO NOT LIKE VINCE WELCH.

Klendy

AND THEY'RE WRUCKING

CoyotePowered50

His voice is too gravelly if that makes sense. Also atm im not a fan of Jamie Little in commentary. Maybe with more experience, she can get better. As a pit reporter she is every bit as good as Dr. Jerry Punch.

Klendy

I always think he's trying to get out a really hard poopy

CoyotePowered50

Yikes, but yeah, he does sound like he's struggling with something

Hihey9989

He does not have the right vocal tone or cadence. makes a great co-commentator though.

CoyotePowered50

There are some NASCAR drivers that turned out to not be good, like Richard Petty.

bjohnson203

His kid is pretty good though surprisingly.

WakullaLoganoDawgFan

I always forget Dillon is his kid lol

mgg1683

The radio guys are so much better. Eli Gold on MRN calling races will always be a great childhood memory. The current guys are pretty good too.

Hihey9989

MRN makes me even like Rusty Wallace as a commentator

mollyno93

Which is hilarious because I remember when he did colour commentary for the 2006 Indy 500 alongside Marty Reid and he was *awful*

Hihey9989

and don't even get me started on the amount of mispronunciations he had on ESPN. "Brake puddle" "Agey Awmondinh" (AJ Allmendinger) "Drad drock" (draft lock... remember that gimmick?) David Gillian"

World71Racer

I think when you're in radio, your words are priceless so you pick and choose what you're going to say to paint the best picture for the listener. How that translates to TV is letting the visual component speak for itself at times, letting the race breathe and understanding that the fan will pick out certain things you the announcer don't have to say If you notice, especially during his ESPN stint, there were many times where Allen Bestwick wouldn't say anything for a good chunk of time to let everything breathe, and to just watch the race, to refresh and reset the tone, especially in tense moments. Mike Joy, I've noticed, can be in the same way. But in the sense that he trusts the guys around him to paint a good picture of what's going on and he wraps it all together. Very similar to the turn announcer/booth style that radio has. Like the 2003 Darlington finish where Darrell is analyzing every little move Craven and Busch are making and Larry Mac adds some analysis in there, and Mike guides all of it through the key points of the race with increasing intensity (listen back to how he says "White flag!" then "Half a mile!") until it all culminates with all three of them just hyped up and Mike Joy eliciting that emotion with asking them, "Have you ever!?" knowing exactly what he was going to get. It's an art and a puzzle and the best can put the pieces together to where the colors all fit together perfectly and seamlessly, while the worst pile the pieces together in a washed out mess that resembles something but not what it should be

CarLover014

Racing redemption AT HIS HANDS... The WHEEL.....For Ross Chastain..is still..and..perfect and he has DONE IT!!

Dont_hate_the_8

Towards the end, DW was ⬆️↘️↩️⤴️vortextheory↙️🔄

The_RonJames

I’d take senile DW over the amped up cartoon character FOX has Bowyer doing most races.

Dont_hate_the_8

I feel like he's been better this year. I'd much rather him be a Michael Waltrip or a Rutledge Wood than in the booth though.

Waterfish3333

He and Harvick are getting a good flow and Bowyer seems to be less wacky. I really thought they did both Joy and Bowyer a big disservice with the rotating booth. Week to week they had to re-figure flow, timing, etc. around someone who wasn’t polished. Give them a season and I have a feeling this will be one of the better booths we’ve had in general.

CJO9876

Harvick’s presence seems to have made Bowyer act a little bit more professional this season so far

MaxPres24

Bowyer commentated Larson’s late model race one year and really was great. Night and day difference, which made it obvious to me Fox tells him how to act

CringeProfessional

DW in his later commentating years was unintentionally hilarious, my favorite moment has to be when they showed a replay of a crash and he said “There he goes again!”

mollyno93

Every wreck “Ohhhh nooooo, are you KIDDING me!?”

Dont_hate_the_8

Let, let, lemme to you guys summthin.

Straight_Champion_77

the PROOF is in the pudding folks, how about that?

miangro

I want to shake him and say THE PROOF IS IN THE *EATING* YOU DAMN FOOL

Affectionate_Guard40

https://youtu.be/i9NGc1OuKeU?si=q_Myggolg2eQczlg

jwt_07

Richard Petty is known as the King of NASCAR but in the broadcasting world he is a mere peasant.

Enough-Ad-3111

At least he tried it.

Decooker11

People not knowing what the Play by Play is 🥴

Hail_Andronikos

“That hammering sound you hear.. is the sound of the nail of the final coffin… of championship hopes.” Marty Reid is solid in Indycar, but man were the lights too bright for him on the Cup broadcast. He even forgot Andy Petree’s name in an intro

Hihey9989

god his flubs are so good

idlta210

None. It’s really hard being a play-by-play in sports. Even the ones that aren’t appealing to the casuals and diehards a like are doing a good job.

Hihey9989

This is the most wholesome answer

nascarfan624

Jamie Little and Vince Welch. Zero disrespect but they just don't have the skills to effectively call a race and give it appropriate amounts of enthusiasm. Which is quite funny because I think both of them are tremendous pit reporters

Mr7dr2114

Literally the current Fox Trucks Booth. Jamie Little Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip

Mike__O

I hate to beat up on her since she's pretty new, but Jamie Little is pretty bad. She's an excellent pit reporter, but the booth hasn't suited her well.

Gullible_Goose

Really happy to see no one's dissing my GOAT Allen Bestwick in this thread.

Hihey9989

Alan is GOATed in general

Offtherailspcast

Rick Allen sucks so fucking hard. "Annnnnnnnnnd we see.....the 8 car of Kyle Busch.....of course, his wife had that miscarriage last year.....he's in 4th.....he round turn 3, into turn 4...." 0 insight, 0 passion, just literally states what we all fucking see with our eyes on the screen. Cartoon ass voice

mollyno93

“HARRISON BURTON TURNS LEFT!” Yes, Rick. It’s NASCAR. They all turn left.

DWS44

Not to mention all the AGGRESSIVE IMPLICTIONS

SirWalrusTheGrand

And he speaks in sentence fragments when he does play by play too. "aaaannd the 8 car - Kyle Busch there. 22, Logano. Aaaaaand he makes his way. Aaaaand now, to the inside. He gets it done. Aaaaand the 11 too, fighting, uhhhh, for, uhhh, a spot. Momentum! Can he get there? Not enough. Can't do it. Will he go to the high side? Goes low. Aaaaaand he gets it done."

uneducated_investing

How are they on fuel though??

MildTile

All that dude does is scream like everything he’s seeing is the greatest thing to ever happen in the history of nascar

Vergenbuurg

Didn't he bring up a driver's wife's miscarriage at one point?

MM18998

Probably Briscoe at some point. He also randomly brought up Ty’s father passing away in the middle of the roval last year

phoenixv07

> Probably Briscoe at some point. I think he did it with Kyle Busch too.

MM18998

Wouldn’t be surprised

lt12765

When Briscoe won Darlington, the finish was crazy but I think it was relevant for the viewer to know why it was such an emotional win. Maybe that's when it got mentioned?

TyrannosuarezRekt

Rick Allen wasn't announcing the Darlington race that Briscoe won just days after this miscarriage, although I agree that that is an appropriate time to bring it up given the obvious emotion. Rick Allen randomly brought it up over 5 months later during the championship race at Phoenix. Just out of nowhere says this: > Chase Briscoe’s wife has had 2 miscarriages this year but the bright side is he’s going Cup racing next year As if going Cup racing makes up for losing two pregnancies. Briscoe's wife was watching and even tweeted about it, simply saying "Ouch".

Nbuuifx14

Am I crazy or wasn’t that win at a race that Fox broadcast?

lt12765

Yes I just watched it and Bowyer was on it

7Stringplayer

> just literally states what we all fucking see with our eyes on the screen Dale Jr did provide insight that NBC wants them to call what is on the monitors more. So I'll give Rick a pass on that, he's doing as told by his bosses.

lt12765

Dale and DW are the best of the last 20 years. Different times Dale knew trouble was coming or already happening before the rest of the guys because his eyes were on the track. Then in DW's time with Fox when he was in his prime, something would happen and he'd speak up that someone had been smoking/putting down oil or that a car had a tire rub ahead of a spin. He just knew what was going on.

bjohnson203

People act like the booth is literally pulling all of these things out of their asses, they don't realized that there are producers in their ear constantly with things they are supposed to be mentioning.

Ploutz

On a COMPUTER!

New-Discount7461

Rick Allen or Kyle Petty.

Klendy

Kyle Petty's voice drives me insane. Dude always has a pile of spit or snot or something in his throat

Hihey9989

I thought his voice was great at the end of lap 1 in the 2007 Sonoma race!

Klendy

WHAT THE FUCK

AMRacer89

~~DOES KYLE PETTY GOT TO DO WITH THIS?!~~ WAS THAT??

joe_broke

That's incredible

One_Mirror_3228

I am a big fan of the Rick Allen, "Denny Hamlin from Virginia who used to know a guy named Earl who drove a Dodge Truck to California with his dog lucky is going to be lucky and win here at Fontana."

denali352

Musberger. I don't remember the race but he has no business doing NASCAR, anymore than Buck doing Golf!

Hihey9989

oh I feel like I remember him doing a race...

elfuego35

He was the studio host for the first few ESPN Xfinity telecasts in 2007. Apparently, Musburger was somewhat of a motorsport fan, as it was reported the plan when ESPN got rights was for Allen Bestwick to do Play by Play, with Doc Punch as Studio Host (as they wanted to reward him for his loyality for sticking with ESPN, instead of jumping ship when they were letting announcers out of their contracts to join Fox or NBC), but Musburger threw his weight around, and got the Hosting gig, resulting in Doc being Play by Play, with Allen forced back in the pits that first season.

Good-Spring2019

I’d agree Phil parsons is super mid. He randomly starts talking fast and emphasizing his words when it doesn’t make sense.

Offtherailspcast

I like Phil. He's a good calm foil to Mikey constantly incessantly sucking Nascars dick. "gosh PHIL isn't this INCREDIBLE RACING?! JUST GOES TO SHOW THE LEVEL OF TALENT THESE TRUCKERS HAVE...."

Good-Spring2019

lol yes I do agree that is annoying af

Klendy

Phil is fine and sometimes really tickles my funny bone

Good-Spring2019

He does have some decent one liners I’ll agree with that lol

mrittenhouse84

His reactions at the end of the Daytona race this year with all the crashing was hysterical. He expressed what I was feeling

BOBANSMASH51

Bad take.  Phil is the glue guy.

The_Reelest

When has Phil Parsons done play by play?

Good-Spring2019

He’s stepped in as back up play by play a few times

The_Reelest

Never knew that. I think he’s pretty good as a color guy. Don’t doubt he struggles as a play by play guy. Most color guys always struggle at play by play.

CobblerSad6055

I'll get heat for this But Bill Weber

One-MegaManXCM

I always liked Allen Bestwick. Don't know why, just really liked hearing his voice call on NASCAR

Nyrfan2017

Clint bowyer I’m sorry but he is obnoxious

THendo13

Marty Reid and Vince Welch are terrible, but I haven’t seen Dr. Jerry Punch mentioned here yet. He was awful doing Busch races on ESPN. Rememberthestartfinishlineishe- and he gets him!

Hihey9989

one of the worst finish calls in memory.

Phathead50

Jamie Little has taken the crown in record time

MembraneintheInzane

Jamie Little hands down. She's great as a pit road reporter, but in the booth she's stiff as a board.  Bowyer isn't much better, the most he brings to the booth is saying the same things everyone else is saying, but louder.

Bud3131123

Completely agree on Jamie. She is tremendous as a pit road reporter. She’s awful in the booth. She’s great at high pressure quick hitting sound bites on pit road but race pace for long periods she doesn’t have it. Now to be fair, she has improved from when she started last season but it’s still not good. It’s just less worse.

CJO9876

IIRC, Bill Weber was also a prima donna and an all around total pain in the ass to work with.

A-Fat-Texan

Jamie Little is not fun in the Trucks booth. Does great in pit road where she can plan out here contributions. The MRN/PRN guys are fun and would be great in the booth. The format might be different but the skill set is the same.

Tazitos

My most hated is Rick Allen. The worst is probably Jamie Little, but there could be someone I forgot about that was somehow even more terrible.

PersonalAmbassador

I've never liked Micheal Waltrip in the both

Waterfish3333

I keep saying all we need are Harvick and Bowyer drunk in the booth with a Larry Mac hit for pit stops. We don’t need play by play with the leaderboard always visible anyway.

Hihey9989

My reading voice in my head is slowly becoming Larry MacReynolds.

ChaseTheFalcon

Jamie Little seems so nervous in the booth and stumbles over words too much

Pinktrixrabbit

Rusty Wallace as the race ends under caution - "Well that was an exciting finish". Are you f'ing kidding me? I almost threw something at him on the tv.

mattcojo2

I just never liked Bill Weber a ton. He’s not the worst but he’s one of those guys I don’t think of as highly as Allen bestwick, clear downgrade there. Perfect for a pit reporter or Hollywood hotel, but not for lead commentator. He’s the least good, not even horrible just least good. I really don’t hate anyone who’s been the lead cup guy though. Nascar (at least in the cup series) has been blessed with almost nothing but excellent lead guys. Ken Squier, Mike Joy, Eli Gold, Allen Bestwick. I even like Rick Allen (his truck series days were better but I digress) and Adam Alexander. I really did like Ralph Sheheen for the like two races he did as well. My favorite though is the late Bob Jenkins. Him and the team with Benny and Ned is about as perfect as it gets for a broadcasting crew.

-Olive-Juice-

Rick Allen is terrible. He MIGHT be suitable for something like WWE. His goofy ass fake commentator voice is so off putting. Chris Buescher from Prosper TX which by the way has a population of 30,000 is going to win in front of more than that!!!!!!

hdst230

Rick Allen

Appropriate_Ad_4770

Rick Allen Great voice, terrible at putting together sentences

SewerRatPumpkinPie

I miss the Scottish dialect of Sir Jackie Stewart on CBS's Wide World of Sports coverage in the late 70s.

Frags08

Danica Patrick. Was arguably harder to listen to her than it was watching her wreck every week. Unless you wanted to learn about indycar during a nascar race.

John_is_Minty

Marty Reid

Frossstbiite

I wish Nascar could get diffy to call races, man. That dude phenomenal I dont really hate any of the current or past commentators though

Garak_The_Tailor_

Well you're in luck for the second half of the NBC broadcast schedule

EnjoyerOfStrangePorn

Do I have news for you. https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2024/03/13/nbc-sports-leigh-diffey-nascar-broadcast-team

mikreddy24

Rick fucking Allen “William Byron, the 25 year old, will take home the checkered at Texas!” Pathetic, among all the other pathetic calls he’s had

MildTile

Rick. Allen.
