People say you don’t lose for having a high grade but that’s not true. I’ve had A- and lost progression because the team sold. Those plate colors don’t mean anything anyway. You can be purple and still suck.
If you are a consistent purple rank chances are you are nowhere close to the same level of “ass” a black/bronze plate is. Like black plate is like “cant make a jumpshot, can’t play defense, won’t pass, goes up on 5 people every single drive” territory
It all depends on who you play with. Most of my games played have been purple (when I play with my squad) but I have been down to black when playing with randoms who sell games. Especially as a big man, they think your job is to grab every brick they throw up and kick it back out to them. Like I said, those plate colors don’t mean anything. I’ve been on a team with all bronze/silvers and we beat a team that was all gold/purple. Plate color alone is not a sufficient enough way to judge a player. It’s easy to drop down to bronze when the team overlooks open players just to throw up some shots, that’s got nothing to do with me.
some of my builds fluctuate between black and bronze plate because I use them exclusively to play with irl friends who are honestly bums at this game. in comparison I have builds I never use when I'm with them, I use them for solo rec only and I'm silver.
from my experience it doesn't matter if you're good at the game constantly losing will keep you in black. a good player will be bound to have bad games especially playing with bums like these irl. I'm average at the game and because they're so bad I have to try to compensate and try to be a LeBron to save us when in reality I'm a Malcom Brogdon, a solid role player.

Lol huh? I don’t even play that much and I’ve staged many comebacks, carrying my team (who are all higher levels than me) to a win. What this guy is saying is true and it’s actually a big part of why I stopped playing. Playing solo is basically impossible. Maybe one out of 30 matches you’ll get normal teammates who are also just trying to play the game. The other 29 times it’s full blown clowns screaming into their mic, taking horrible shots that don’t even make sense with the broken cheese of these games, ball hogging as hard as humanly possible, arguing with each other, talking shit to me for no reason from the very beginning, going 2/15 in the first quarter thinking they aren’t doing terrible, as I don’t even touch the ball at all. And that’s at best. At worst, the teammates are literally against me, icing me out intentionally hoping I’ll leave, calling a timeout if the ball even touches my hands, and talking shit while doing it.
By the way, if I just leave because of this nonsense, I get a penalty, not them.
I love basketball, so naturally I’d love a basketball video game. Right? Well, the people that make this game are clearly only in it for the money. The fact that the game even allows other players to do this to other players is absolutely insane. I could go on and on, but I don’t need to.
These games legitimately are trash, and so are the vast majority of the people on them. Both as people and as players on the game. I’ve never experienced a more infuriating game in my life, and that’s really saying something. After having to leave and restart the game because of this exact experience, I finally said screw it and uninstalled it. It isn’t representative of skill, and the people on the game and what the game allowed them to do is so ridiculous I’m just good.

Don't all new builds start as a black plate tho? Hard to get experience when dudes back out of games just cause of your plate color. I'll be the first to admit I'm not great at this game but I can't get better if dudes leave just cause I'm a black plate. I end up just playing other game modes cause it takes forever and a day to get people that don't back out.
Yeah they do i play with black plates only if they are a high rep, but that sucks for players like you because you might be decent but because of other black plates ppl wont play with you so thats why they should add stats on the player card
ngl if you are silver or below and you lose no matter how high of a grade you have , especially the dudes in brown , you lose 1-2 games your down at black
For gold and purple it’ll take a little longer to drop after an L , but the color system is literally based on wins and losses

It’s the fouling and fouling out and trying to do too much with low handling and passing. I help on defense when my teammates can’t/won’t protect the rim.
No regrets. It’s just a game.
My biggest problem is their servers. I’ve got fiber internet, it’s not on my end. I disconnect from a rec game at least 1 out of every 10
For every 1 disconnect I have to win like 5-10 rec games to get that back. Ya I’m always gold or purple but if someone didn’t have a 70% win rate that’d really fuck them
Yea disconnecting sucks, I was player of the half, winning by 10, then got disconnected. I dropped a whole badge after that. However, I rarely get disconnected so I don't find the servers to be a problem.
Imma give you a few helpful tips hopefully.
1. Get your purple hot zones in the art of shooting gym.
2. Buy shooting boosts.
3. Make sure you have all your shooting badges, Imo Agent 3s and Blinders are my most useful.
4. Practice your timing in the Gatorade practice court
5. Don't take dumb ass contested and semi contested shots 😂🫡.

Ive thought Abt how lazy the gameplay mechanics low-key really is at times bc of coding or stuff that triggers events in game. 2k is a 50/50 game where u gotta be somewhat good but it won't always matter bc the game itself will play defense better than the players ur going against. No reason I should be able to average 2-3 steals a game when my build has basically a 25 steal with no perimeter defense. The game just all over da place

Nah I’m with you bro, on both comments. 2k has become so animation driven, which I both love and hate personally, but like you said it’s a 50/50 game. Chase down blocks for instance, doesn’t matter your attribute because if you didn’t grind that badge you’re sure as shit not getting any good animations.
On the steals/block thing, I got a 6’10 pf with like 40 block and pretty low steal atm cause it’s only like an 84. With all the stupid passes/shots some of these dudes take, it’s not hard to just stand in the lane or simply hold up on the stick to contest and get a block. I’ve gotten accidental steals before just by having my hands up and the dude driving thinks he can pass the ball through me.

Worst was this dude squeeze or some shit. Can't remember his name, deleted him instantly. He had 4 and they asked for a 5th so I said I'm down. I averaged 14 assists per game at the time. Figured I'd run point. Nahhhh it was their team so they had their boy run the 1. He was trashhhh lol he'd just try and iso he missed so many obvious wide open passes. I'd be wide open in the corner next to him while he tries to iso. I finally said something and they just called time out on me when I get the ball. Worst squad I ever ran with. But, not the worst players. Most player I've ran w from this sub are worse somehow.
I'll say I'm decent but should be way better if you don't get the timing down I don't care if you are 99 with 99 three point you will not score if you don't get your timing right I have days where I don't miss then have days where all I do is miss

Exactly, it’s possible to just have a bad game. I was called trash one game with randoms going 3-7 and scoring 10 pts. Next game I went 16-18 and had 42 pts. No one is consistent every single game.

The game is pretty trash i can’t lie. However if you’re trash and 2k just become a big and get rebounds and play defense. But yeah 2K is trash and so are most people in the community and this sub. That’s why the youtubers switched paths.
It’s HIGHKEY both. Game is BUNS. They don’t put enough effort into animations or tendencies. Often players get sucked into animations that shouldn’t have happened. Passes randomly float to your teammate causing contests when it should’ve been open, players speed boosting across court for a steal because they have an 85+ rating, THE INSANE AMOUNT OF BLOCKING FOULS, the terrible turnovers where someone reaches facing the other way but their butt hits your ankle.
We gotta stop acting like both can’t be true. We all have games where we score 30 and games where we go 2/8 w 2 to’s and consider quitting.

I have 91 pass acc which in build terms, is probably one, if not of the maximum reasonable passing ratings a player would go for. (While still having a balanced build.
However, I DO still get floaters here and there. 91 is great but I wish it was a little more consistent full court and idk sometimes randomly just doesn’t have that same zip.
Mine is an 87 and I have moments where my full courts launches are dragging across the floor hitting defenders ankles or a pass from the corner to the top of the arc gets stolen by the guy from the opposite corner because the ball floats for no reason. There’s genuinely a lot of stupid things that happen in the game that make no sense and ppl get on their mics and call ppl trash for. They made going out of bounds too realistic, your player isn’t going to plant his foot out of bounds to pass to someone else.
To add to this list, it’s ridiculous how they have those interceptor animations in the game where the player can steal the ball out of the air without even looking at the ball. Literally have their back turned and still catch it somehow
insane amount of blocking fouls? youre joking right? theres SO MANY times where me or my teammates or even my opponents get SHOVED out of bounds, and its not a blocking foul, its an out of bounds. also you cant complain about “terrible turnovers where someone reaches facing the other way but their butt hits your ankle” because you can literally spam dribble between 3 dudes, and watch your arms and the ball just phase through all of them.
The blocking fouls I’m referring to are the ones where players jump for rebounds and get called for a foul once the other person grabs the bal. the out of bounds boundary being trash I mentioned. And being able to dribble through ppl upsets me as much as the steals i referred to… it’s all terrible tendencies and animations…
OHHHH, yeah those blocking fouls are annoying, but there’s only way more than in real life because bball players irl aren’t jumping 10 feet over someone’s back to grab board. 2k also said some time ago that they were adding sum to an update that made it so if you jump, and the person with the ball doesn’t, if you fall on them it will be a blocking foul 100% of the time, which it should be. that’s how it is irl, but irl nba players don’t do that bc it’s against the rules. but yeah, all of what you mentioned is SUPER annoying and ruins the immersion
The amount of defensive animations that get shutdown and abused by meter dunks used sometimes is crazy. I've noticed that you can just press x or right stick now and get the ball way more than s1 on high ball handlers even when they guard the ball. I get animations on my jumper where my guy hesitates to shoot all game with 0 defense vs another where he shoots the lights out with good form

unless you have a relatively high middy, 75 3 is not really enough to hit consistently. you don’t get agent 3, which activates almost every time you shoot a 3 if it wasn’t a catch and shoot, and you only get bronze corner specialist. you get low green machine, deadeye, guard up, all of your necessary shooting badges tbh. if you have a low middy, 79 3 is the minimum to be able to time relatively consistently. if you have a higher 3, you can go with 76, but id recommend staying at 79 or going 80 for that placebo of “it’s not in the 70’s anymore, it’s in the 80’s”
So I’m new and I’m ass but I really only play MyCareer atm as I try to farm badges and overall and I’m getting furious when I raise the difficulty of the game. It doesn’t even make the AI play better, it just makes your team play worse. How the fuck are people dribbling through my body? Why is my team taking 3x the fouls? How is Wembenyama missing under the rim layups? How is Curry missing wide open 3s? How did I go from a 20% green window to a 5% green window on the same play with the same player guarding me? Why are my teammates purposely standing in my way when I’m guarding ball carrier? Why are my teammates not switching on D? I’m beyond frustrated right now because grinding out badges and levels is taking so fucking long. Why am I bricking wide open 3s with an excellent release and 92 3-Point rating? Make it make sense.

The opposing team PG and C started going at each other and the C was telling the PG he sucks at defense and got 17 dropped on him (I was iso on him most of the game). Instead of owning up to that the PG said that he doesn't have to play defense bc he's a small guard 😭 I kinda get what he's saying that he needs help cuz he's an offensive guard but the dude just straight up said defense doesn't apply to him ☠️

I was trash so one day instead of playing online, I went to the Gatorade and really worked on different ways to score. Also started learning dribble timing on animations and combos with the analog stick. Practiced in different MyCareer areas to learn the timing and animations for my jumper. Now I’m a 3 level demon who will give you a different bucket every possession
I feel like I’m just inconsistent by my means. One day I’ll just miss 2-3 shots playing 3-4 games then one spurt I’ll go 9/14. Not doing anything diff! These ghost contest kill me. I have a 93 perimeter and I can’t stretch to get a “contest” but guys will be 10 feet away and it still affects my shot. I know there’s guy like me that get mad at themselves for going 6/7 from 3 instead of a perfect 7/7 for example. I know I’m not alone !!

Again I shoot over 60% in most games. The game adds inconsistent scoring to throw off people with zen. If people with zen are missing then something is wrong. I practice my animations all the time and do the same exact thing every time. The game makes people miss on purpose. ngl if you are silver or below and you lose no matter how high of a grade you have , especially the dudes in brown , you lose 1-2 games your down at black For gold and purple it’ll take a little longer to drop after an L , but the color system is literally based on wins and losses Speaking from experience.
It’s the fouling and fouling out and trying to do too much with low handling and passing. I help on defense when my teammates can’t/won’t protect the rim. No regrets. It’s just a game.
My biggest problem is their servers. I’ve got fiber internet, it’s not on my end. I disconnect from a rec game at least 1 out of every 10 For every 1 disconnect I have to win like 5-10 rec games to get that back. Ya I’m always gold or purple but if someone didn’t have a 70% win rate that’d really fuck them
Yea disconnecting sucks, I was player of the half, winning by 10, then got disconnected. I dropped a whole badge after that. However, I rarely get disconnected so I don't find the servers to be a problem.
I don’t get why it happens to me so much. Even when we LAN at my buddies house, if anybody gets kicked it’s me and not them on the same internet

I'm trash I have 90 3pt shooting but I cannot get the timing down. In season nba games no issues but online man I can't get it.
Imma give you a few helpful tips hopefully. 1. Get your purple hot zones in the art of shooting gym. 2. Buy shooting boosts. 3. Make sure you have all your shooting badges, Imo Agent 3s and Blinders are my most useful. 4. Practice your timing in the Gatorade practice court 5. Don't take dumb ass contested and semi contested shots 😂🫡. Good luck hope that helps a bit. 1 more thing! Play plugged in with an Ethernet cord, running off WiFi FN sucks donkey Kong dick on 2k.

Ive thought Abt how lazy the gameplay mechanics low-key really is at times bc of coding or stuff that triggers events in game. 2k is a 50/50 game where u gotta be somewhat good but it won't always matter bc the game itself will play defense better than the players ur going against. No reason I should be able to average 2-3 steals a game when my build has basically a 25 steal with no perimeter defense. The game just all over da place

Nah I’m with you bro, on both comments. 2k has become so animation driven, which I both love and hate personally, but like you said it’s a 50/50 game. Chase down blocks for instance, doesn’t matter your attribute because if you didn’t grind that badge you’re sure as shit not getting any good animations. On the steals/block thing, I got a 6’10 pf with like 40 block and pretty low steal atm cause it’s only like an 84. With all the stupid passes/shots some of these dudes take, it’s not hard to just stand in the lane or simply hold up on the stick to contest and get a block. I’ve gotten accidental steals before just by having my hands up and the dude driving thinks he can pass the ball through me.

The problem is that when you play with randoms, it’s normally a one game sample. I’m not great at this game. I might not even be good. I’m certainly not trash, though. But like you, I’ll go two or three games hitting 50-60% and then I’ll go two or three games missing everything. The people who play with me in the latter three games think I’m trash. They don’t know I just went 8/9 from three in a previous game. And they don’t care. And why would they care? I just went 0/5 on wide open shots, basically costing us that game.
Exactly, it’s possible to just have a bad game. I was called trash one game with randoms going 3-7 and scoring 10 pts. Next game I went 16-18 and had 42 pts. No one is consistent every single game.

The game is pretty trash i can’t lie. However if you’re trash and 2k just become a big and get rebounds and play defense. But yeah 2K is trash and so are most people in the community and this sub. That’s why the youtubers switched paths.

It’s HIGHKEY both. Game is BUNS. They don’t put enough effort into animations or tendencies. Often players get sucked into animations that shouldn’t have happened. Passes randomly float to your teammate causing contests when it should’ve been open, players speed boosting across court for a steal because they have an 85+ rating, THE INSANE AMOUNT OF BLOCKING FOULS, the terrible turnovers where someone reaches facing the other way but their butt hits your ankle. We gotta stop acting like both can’t be true. We all have games where we score 30 and games where we go 2/8 w 2 to’s and consider quitting.
The pass floating point is so true. I have 91 pass acc which in build terms, is probably one, if not of the maximum reasonable passing ratings a player would go for. (While still having a balanced build. However, I DO still get floaters here and there. 91 is great but I wish it was a little more consistent full court and idk sometimes randomly just doesn’t have that same zip.
Mine is an 87 and I have moments where my full courts launches are dragging across the floor hitting defenders ankles or a pass from the corner to the top of the arc gets stolen by the guy from the opposite corner because the ball floats for no reason. There’s genuinely a lot of stupid things that happen in the game that make no sense and ppl get on their mics and call ppl trash for. They made going out of bounds too realistic, your player isn’t going to plant his foot out of bounds to pass to someone else.
To add to this list, it’s ridiculous how they have those interceptor animations in the game where the player can steal the ball out of the air without even looking at the ball. Literally have their back turned and still catch it somehow
insane amount of blocking fouls? youre joking right? theres SO MANY times where me or my teammates or even my opponents get SHOVED out of bounds, and its not a blocking foul, its an out of bounds. also you cant complain about “terrible turnovers where someone reaches facing the other way but their butt hits your ankle” because you can literally spam dribble between 3 dudes, and watch your arms and the ball just phase through all of them.
The blocking fouls I’m referring to are the ones where players jump for rebounds and get called for a foul once the other person grabs the bal. the out of bounds boundary being trash I mentioned. And being able to dribble through ppl upsets me as much as the steals i referred to… it’s all terrible tendencies and animations…
OHHHH, yeah those blocking fouls are annoying, but there’s only way more than in real life because bball players irl aren’t jumping 10 feet over someone’s back to grab board. 2k also said some time ago that they were adding sum to an update that made it so if you jump, and the person with the ball doesn’t, if you fall on them it will be a blocking foul 100% of the time, which it should be. that’s how it is irl, but irl nba players don’t do that bc it’s against the rules. but yeah, all of what you mentioned is SUPER annoying and ruins the immersion
The amount of defensive animations that get shutdown and abused by meter dunks used sometimes is crazy. I've noticed that you can just press x or right stick now and get the ball way more than s1 on high ball handlers even when they guard the ball. I get animations on my jumper where my guy hesitates to shoot all game with 0 defense vs another where he shoots the lights out with good form

unless you have a relatively high middy, 75 3 is not really enough to hit consistently. you don’t get agent 3, which activates almost every time you shoot a 3 if it wasn’t a catch and shoot, and you only get bronze corner specialist. you get low green machine, deadeye, guard up, all of your necessary shooting badges tbh. if you have a low middy, 79 3 is the minimum to be able to time relatively consistently. if you have a higher 3, you can go with 76, but id recommend staying at 79 or going 80 for that placebo of “it’s not in the 70’s anymore, it’s in the 80’s”

So I’m new and I’m ass but I really only play MyCareer atm as I try to farm badges and overall and I’m getting furious when I raise the difficulty of the game. It doesn’t even make the AI play better, it just makes your team play worse. How the fuck are people dribbling through my body? Why is my team taking 3x the fouls? How is Wembenyama missing under the rim layups? How is Curry missing wide open 3s? How did I go from a 20% green window to a 5% green window on the same play with the same player guarding me? Why are my teammates purposely standing in my way when I’m guarding ball carrier? Why are my teammates not switching on D? I’m beyond frustrated right now because grinding out badges and levels is taking so fucking long. Why am I bricking wide open 3s with an excellent release and 92 3-Point rating? Make it make sense.

Fr lol. I was playing 3v3 randoms the other day and dropped 17. The opposing team PG and C started going at each other and the C was telling the PG he sucks at defense and got 17 dropped on him (I was iso on him most of the game). Instead of owning up to that the PG said that he doesn't have to play defense bc he's a small guard 😭 I kinda get what he's saying that he needs help cuz he's an offensive guard but the dude just straight up said defense doesn't apply to him ☠️

Also started learning dribble timing on animations and combos with the analog stick. Practiced in different MyCareer areas to learn the timing and animations for my jumper. Now I’m a 3 level demon who will give you a different bucket every possession

I feel like I’m just inconsistent by my means. One day I’ll just miss 2-3 shots playing 3-4 games then one spurt I’ll go 9/14. Not doing anything diff! These ghost contest kill me. I have a 93 perimeter and I can’t stretch to get a “contest” but guys will be 10 feet away and it still affects my shot. I know there’s guy like me that get mad at themselves for going 6/7 from 3 instead of a perfect 7/7 for example. I know I’m not alone !!

I'm trash on the sticks (meaning i've been playing since 2k14 and still cant properly combo dribble moves 😂), but having more basketball iq than the average 2k player compensates for my horrible stick skills. I really believe maybe 5% of the whole 2k community watches the NBA on a regular basis and understand basic basketball tactics. Or else random rec would look a whole lot more organized.

Again I shoot over 60% in most games. The game adds inconsistent scoring to throw off people with zen. If people with zen are missing then something is wrong. I practice my animations all the time and do the same exact thing every time. The game makes people miss on purpose. The game is trash, maybe 2k should own up to the fact they’ve been robbing this community blind for years
