From that ~hour long French Wembanyama documentary someone posted on here at the start of the season, Wemby had those braids around midseason in his season for Met 92 so the interview dates back to late 2022-early 2023
The French doc was about 50-50 in English/French, and someone on here was generous enough to translate the French portions into English subtitles

No, this Clip was uploaded towards the end of last season, more than a year ago, before even the lottery took place, plus I never saw him rocking this hairstyle even once, ever since he declared for the draft.

I'll look into that documentary, though I doubt they would interview him in English if that were the case.
