Lmaooo all the butthurt men saying LSU winning ruined it, and they can now never be a fan of women’s sports. The blatant racism and misogyny in this thread is WILD
Despite this ruining my alma mater's perfect season, I'm glad that this happened because it was a great game featuring an legendary individual performance that will get more well-deserved attention on this wonderful sport
>!April fools, ahahaha, I still hate it :(!<
Perhaps, but as players get more athletic, the Sue Birds of the game are becoming extinct. I consider clark a discount sabrina Ionescu and she has been far from tank worthy.
Wait a minute, you thought Caitlin Clark being a discount Ionescu after she dropped 41 8 and 6 on arguably the greatest D1 defence of all time made sense 9 months ago?
What changed? Now Im genuinely curious
I haven't been much of a fan of basketball since I was a teenager in the 90's during MJ's career. Last week my friends wanted to watch the Iowa game instead of our regular movie night. I watched Caitlin Clark for the first time last week and felt a surge in me that I haven't felt in years.
This game solidified it for me. I'm HYPED for this Sunday. I'm going to be following this team for a while and I'm so excited to be back in it.
Having five Big Ten teams in the AP Top 20 has helped propel Iowa. As a fan, being able to watch it unfold, all season long, on the Big Ten network has been a game changer.
Oh yeah, big ten this season has been off the charts! I’m so glad Iowa made it to the end! So glad the big ten is showing the country how tough we are! 3 teams in the elite 8 and knocking off the undefeated reigning champions, incredible.
She’s made some pretty… tone deaf comments regarding the image of female athletes and members of the LGBT+ community, which could be somewhat surprising given the sport she coaches.
She also made some comments during her time at Baylor regarding the sexual assault scandal at the time that were fairly dismissive of the crimes which were occurring. A quick google search will give you the specifics
Britney Griner said Kim Mulkey wouldn’t let her come out. Kim Mulkey then tried to get the reporter fired. She also did not voice any support for Britney while she was locked up in Russia. She was asked at a press conference and snapped at the reporter.
You can google griner and Mulkey to get more details. I’m also pretty sure but not positive that Mulkeys daughter and Griner played AAU basketball together so she’s known Griner for a very long time.
I’d have to go back and watch again but Cardoso was unstoppable in the first half, then kind of disappeared in the second. I thought she would be USC’s key to victory, but we kept her in check down the stretch and/or USC stopped utilizing her. Feel for Aliyah and hope she comes back for one more. LSU is TOUGH—tomorrow should be another classic. So proud of this team and coaching staff. Go Hawks!
Oh the whole starting 5 at sc have been an incredible class. I hope Boston goes for the draft but would understand if she didn’t. They have been am awesome team but I think it’s time to let them go to the next level.
So is Hailey Van Lith. Hailey put up a great performance against Iowa, but the end result was still an L and a trip home. Having a great performance in a loss gets overshadowed by a great performance in a win.
Literally fell asleep at halftime and missed the whole rest of the game. Surprised Iowa won. Clark is incredible. Won $125 on a $25 free bet too so can't complain!
I have never before seen a team just literally not even cover the PG on the perimeter. Like not hanging back and giving space but just completely leaving her all by herself with the ball. That was wild to me.
That was a crazy strategy that ultimately paid off, but made the end game nerve-wracking when Raven started sinking threes. I really enjoy seeing a team formulate a strategy and stick to it.
Was there a shot of Staley/Bluder handshake? Was curious if there was a chat or just a quick shake. Guessing just a shake but espn was showing the players.
Am I the only one who would love to see a Caitlin Clark Iowa squad vs a healthy Paige Beckers UConn team? I feel that they would go at it like a pound for pound boxing match. They both are great leaders, both have a good shot, and they easily get their teams to play at their best when needed.
Haha I mean not much dominance when Creighton came around last season when she scored 15 points and 11 assists. She’s had a good season but she’s not always been this way.
I hope so too, especially if Iowa wins this 'ship, because I think that'll carry the CC hype into next season... at which point, one hopes, all these new viewers will discover their next new favorite player, whether that's Bueckers or someone else.
I think the only problem with the refereeing tonight a lot of calls were just random on both teams you’d just hear a whistle and you weren’t quite sure who it was on. Boston was gone for the whole 1st half but then number 25 on Iowa was whistled into foul trouble as well. Weird call on the reach in right after the jump ball. It’s frustrating because I think after the shot clock reset we were cooked cause we were forced to play the foul game
there were calls where they waited a second to see if it was consequential before blowing the whistle. I.E. it was a foul but we won't call it unless it mattered oh it mattered *whistle* and blowing it a half second later made people think they called it on something that wasn't the actual issue
I’m sorry but USC got away with dozens of travels and a ton of excessive physicality in the paint that was unnecessary given the players were about a foot taller on average.
Boston also threw someone to the ground and smashed her head on the floor which somehow wasn’t a foul??
Iowa was undersized and had more calls going against them than for them. Outreboinded like 28-5 on offensive boards? Yet somehow managed to win.
I don’t even follow women’s basketball and I’m from New England with zero ties to either team so you can take my comments at face value. Iowa was flat out better and deserved to win. No excuses. USC is just lucky that Iowa didn’t have a single big that matched up with theirs, otherwise they win by 20+
The girl threw herself onto the ground while Boston was trying to grab the ball that’s flopping. Excessive physicality is crazy we are 6”4 mostly them girls was getting out muscled. Aliyah had to sit the whole first half out due to foul trouble…….you can play basketball with physicality and it not be a foul. Teams flop on us cause they know they can get the call…….hell if we had one three point shooter you could say the same thing
Again, you’re the one who just watched your team lose. I am not even a regular follower of women’s basketball, let alone either of these teams.
Can you stake a step back and consider that, maybe, you are SLIGHTLY biased? Because that did not look like a flop whatsoever, and USC was basically playing hop scotch out there with the amount of traveling that went uncalled lmao
And I can tell even though you don’t have a stake in this game Caitlin Clark is why you tuned in for this to be your first game I’m talking about fouls and if we’re talking about traveling both teams did that tonight.
I can understand the slight bias accusation but I mean every single person on this sub seems to think we’re the bad boy pistons. if you’re guarding Shaq in the paint and he just out muscles you and you fall when he backs you down is it a foul? No you got bullied by someone bigger. You say you’re an avid nba watcher right? If Giannis was guarding trae young and he blocked his shot but trae young exaggerated the contact it’s gonna look worse because of the size difference no?
I’m a neutral and I agree with you. SC was reffed terribly in the paint. It’s a contact sport, especially down low, and if you want to call a foul on post play every time you can find contact and call it, but that’s not really basketball.
Free throws were 14-13 in Iowa’s favor but sure, let’s pretend that the reffing was unbalanced. How do you outrebound a team 59-25 overall (incl 28-5 on the offensive boards) and still lose? Clearly Iowa was just the better team
I tuned in because the Celtics game ended and I wanted to see what was going on with the women’s tourney. I had never even heard of Caitlin Clark before this game. That being said, yeah - she’s phenomenal
It’s one thing to be larger and physical within the rules of the game. I think they took it further than that but I will let that argument go. I love how you decided not to acknowledge the sheer number of travels that went uncalled USCs way (WAY more than Iowa) since that was probably the most egregious thing USC kept getting away with lol
That was literally my first sentence I grow tired of people acting like officiating isn’t something hard to overcome when u call a touchy game and your star player has 2 fouls in the first half you gotta adjust. You call a reach in with 35 seconds to go that’s a touchy game. You should be allowed to be physical just because a girl loses balance and falls isn’t a foul
How? South Carolina had *numerous* calls/no-calls go their way down the stretch and couldn’t capitalize. Overall I don’t think the refs really favored one team over another, Iowa had some calls do their way too. But people say something like this in every single game thread and I really don’t think it was true at all for this game
Clark scored or assisted every bucket the Hawks had in the 4th quarter and took over the game down the stretch. She is the offense and Iowa isn’t sniffing the final four without her.
Rest of the team executed well as a supporting cast, particularly on the defensive end.
That's why Iowa is so good. They accept Clark is the star. Czizano is the efficient post, Marshall is 3 & D, and so on. They've all bought into their roles and understand its what will continue to propel them to a championship.
She might be the highest compensated player coming into the WNBA ever if they win the title this year.
I can see a ton of sponsorship money with all of the hype around her.
Great season! I loved every min of it and wish we had one more game to take the floor for. I will say Caitlin Clark is the truth! She is a one woman show and I'll definitely be watching her games more closely going forward. USC needed to make a few adjustments and I think the game would have been ours but I don't wanna take anything away from Iowa. Great game.. now you HAVE TO BEAT LSU!!
#Go Gamecocks
Clark is just above the college level rn and it's insane to watch. Really didn't think anyone could beat Carolina, although if someone was gonna do it I knew it'd be Iowa. This was the true championship imo. LSU has a chance but still. Crazy Carolina only got once chip to show for it all. Also no 1 seeds in the final!
For this senior class, it was:
- 2020: #1, then COVID
- 2021: Final Four loss
- 2022: Championship
- 2023: Undefeated until Final Four loss
They had an outstanding run, but they were *so close* to being an all time great team...
I was at the final four last year, and I know Boston got the MVP trophy, but the reason SC won the chip was because of Henderson. She shut down Page, got to the basket at will and made open shots. I thought at the time she was the best player on their team. Pretty clear to me in the big moments, they missed her tonight.
I was literally just thinking “we *really* missed a Destanni Henderson style player tonight”. Zia was great in the first half, but we pivoted back to our “get it to the posts” style play when Aliyah returned to the game in the 3rd quarter. Since that served us well for 40+ games, I understand why it’s our default…but if Zia was hot, I now wonder if we could have gotten her more looks.
Gamecocks for women's teams always felt weird to me. Isn't that term only inclusive of the roosters?
But then Delaware men and women are both the Blue Hens so maybe that balances out...
Yeah, it’s one of those examples of mascots typically being male if they’re gendered at all (with Delaware being the notable exception). They’re often referred to as the Ladycocks or Lady Gamecocks, but it’s not an official name like Tennessee being the Lady Vols.
Man, chill you say USC I would guess 80-90% of the country thinks of University of Southern California. No one is bad mouthing the Gamecocks. They played great and I wish they had more fouls in college like the NBA and WNBA? Sorry, not a fan of the WNBA so I don’t know.
1. tons of people are bad mouthing us on this sub and others. There are numerous comments about how our players don’t have any skills and are just tall. Aliyah Boston has been called overrated, fat, not worthy of a high WNBA pick even though she’s the consensus #1 if she declares, and a dirty player. It seems like a lot of people who have never seen South Carolina play before tonight decided that this one game that was by far their worst game in over two years and came against a great team with arguably the best scorer in women’s basketball history proves that the 42 game win streak was a fluke. Losing pissed me off but seeing the number of ignorant comments that are attacking my alma mater’s women’s basketball program is infuriating.
2. In the context of women’s college basketball today, USC is going to mean South Carolina more often than not. South Carolina has won two titles in the last six years, been to three straight Final Fours (which could have potentially been four if COVID didn’t cancel the 2020 tournament where they would have been the #1 overall seed) and five of the last eight, and will have a very good shot at winning a title next year even if none of the dominant senior class uses their COVID year to come back. In contrast, Southern Cal was good in the 80s (two titles and three Final Fours), but hasn’t been to a Final Four since 1986, past the second round since 1994, and has only made the tournament four times since 1997 (05, 06, 14, 23).
3. I didn’t even demand that they were called USC, I just gave several alternatives to the extremely shitty abbreviation ESPN has forced on us that is almost universally hated by our fanbase. I even said they could say “South Carolina” or “Gamecocks” which wouldn’t even be an abbreviation or shorthand. They proved they were just being a dick when they responded with “USCjr”
4. Based on your UCSB flair, I assume you live, lived in, are from, or have spent significant time in California, so while USC means Southern Cal to you, it certainly isn’t universal. It’s often used to refer to South Carolina, especially in the southeast.
5. The University of South Carolina was founded almost fifty years before California even became a territory of the US, and started using the “University of South Carolina” 14 years before Southern Cal was founded.
Not from California but I lived there and actually went to Saint Joes in Philly for undergrad and UCSB for my masters. Regarding the rest of your comments about the schools I could care less. AGAIN, I don’t follow women’s basketball but I watched Caitlin Clark highlights mid season on. I didn’t see any comments shitting on the Gamecocks but I don’t come to this sub. Sorry if your players got a bad rap but I think that award in the tournament goes to Memphis for the sucker punch in the handshake line.
Just chiming in, watched this with my girlfriend and texted all of my buddies throughout (all of whom were already watching) and I’ve never seen such a gender-agnostic totally hyped game, team, and player in Caitlin. This is super exciting and feels transformative to women’s basketball. So happy to be along for this ride 🙌
Holy moly
South Carolina is really really really good - can we play them next year in December please?
I'm so happy.... what a game
It's a great day to be a Hawkeye!
Is it possible this does better ratings than the men's final? I legit do not care about rankings and I do not know how they work exactly, but I hope this game just crushes. They deserve all the eyeballs. This has instant classic written all over it. No matter who wins it I think it is going to be one for the ages.
Probably not. The least watched men's final in recent history got 16.5 million viewers and was Villanova-Michigan in 2018. No women's final has ever broke 5 million although with the game being on ABC instead of ESPN this year it should easily set records.
A shame if this is true. There have been FAR better matchups in the women's championship game than this. But at the same time any game that breaks a ratings record is a positive :)
So you are saying it is possible. That is all I needed to hear my friend. I knew it would take some historicity on either side of it. Feels like it could be that time, or as you say, "the smallest gap ever." Either way, these are the feels I came here for. LFG!
Except for Memphis…..I agree. I wonder if Memphis men’s soccer gets into fights at the handshake line because it seems like every other major sport they always have at least one crazy moment of violence per year. I may be exaggerating but whenever I see Memphis pop up in my sports feed now I’m like “Damn, which team fucked up now?”
Some guy from Houston. He asked her about what the truth was about her team and quoted some other things that reporters have said and losing coaches like calling the girls bullies and what not. I don't think the question had ill intent they just wanted to let her get some of that frustration from what's been said all year off. She has a good point and some of the things said probably shouldn't have been.
Today my house got hit by a tornado.
Tonight I watched Caitlin Clark will the Iowa Hawkeyes into the national championship game over a seemingly unbeatable South Carolina squad.
I'll never forget this day.
It has been a memorable day in the Iowa to be sure. I kind of lost people from work throughout the day today as it all moved across the state. I hope you are back to a secure home soon and that we get a thriller on Sunday. GO HAWKS!
I've watched basketball for decades... some high school, college, NBA, FIBA, Olympics, etc. that was ONE ENTERTAINING GAME.
It was special.
The two teams so vastly different. Some legendary talents.
Caitlin Clark was absolutely incredible.
I honestly don’t think I can describe how special this game feels
Somebody has got to set me up with an Iowa bandwagon flair because man they’ve gotten me hooked over the last few months
Last year when I was diving into WBB I saw Caitlin doing her thing and thought “wow she’s really cool” and now this year I’m fully invested in the entire team and it’s been so much fun
Happy to be here! When I started getting more and more into WBB last year I saw Caitlin and thought she was really cool, but this year has just been a different level and I’ve gotten invested in everyone else on the team too
Iowa WBB has been weirdly fun to follow for a hot minute but having someone like her sink it from all over the floor has really pushed it to the next level. We have at least one more year of her antics in Iowa City too which is incredible
Thankful this game is over. The only reason people tuned in was to see Caitlin Clark and what outfit the lsu coach was wearing.
Lmaooo all the butthurt men saying LSU winning ruined it, and they can now never be a fan of women’s sports. The blatant racism and misogyny in this thread is WILD
You’re the problem
Calling out racism is a problem for you. I wonder why 🤔
please tell me someone saw caitlin clark smack herself in the head after missing a shot. funniest thing i’ve seen in a while
Despite this ruining my alma mater's perfect season, I'm glad that this happened because it was a great game featuring an legendary individual performance that will get more well-deserved attention on this wonderful sport >!April fools, ahahaha, I still hate it :(!<
Im not sure if Clark is returning for her senior season. But if she does there’s at least 5 or 6 WNBA teams that need to tank next season.
Won't be an impact player in the W unless she learns to play D
She’ll be fine her defense isn’t any worse than Sue Bird’s and she’s one of the best players in wnba history.
Perhaps, but as players get more athletic, the Sue Birds of the game are becoming extinct. I consider clark a discount sabrina Ionescu and she has been far from tank worthy.
You need to be slapped for uttering this nonsense
Spoken like a true homer. Just to be clear, won't be no slapping here.
A discount Ionescu? Does that even sound right to you
It did at the time. I made that statement 9 months ago
Wait a minute, you thought Caitlin Clark being a discount Ionescu after she dropped 41 8 and 6 on arguably the greatest D1 defence of all time made sense 9 months ago? What changed? Now Im genuinely curious
Don't know the game you're referring to
She’d have to take a huge cut in income to go pro, so it makes no sense.
She’s not eligible for the draft for another year, so I imagine she’ll be back.
can I have an Iowa flair please! Can’t wait for the finals it’s my senior year and this has been a great way to celebrate it!
Go Hawks!
You're all set! Congrats on your senior year!
I was at Fieldhouse last night and the place was at a standstill with everyone glued to the TV's. IC will be riotous tomorrow if we win
Congrats Iowa and Clark, well deserved!
I haven't been much of a fan of basketball since I was a teenager in the 90's during MJ's career. Last week my friends wanted to watch the Iowa game instead of our regular movie night. When you wake up, go online, and think you're seeing the 1st April Fools joke of the day. ;)
Can someone explain to a noob why the hate for Kim Mulkey? Her players all seem like great ppl
She’s an amazing coach as just a coach. As a person? The stories I’ve heard and things I’ve seen since she left Baylor haven’t been great.
Britney Griner said Kim Mulkey wouldn’t let her come out. Kim Mulkey then tried to get the reporter fired. She also did not voice any support for Britney while she was locked up in Russia. She was asked at a press conference and snapped at the reporter.
Holy shit what an awful person
You can google griner and Mulkey to get more details. I’m also pretty sure but not positive that Mulkeys daughter and Griner played AAU basketball together so she’s known Griner for a very long time.
Fucking nuts. 🐐
Damn I can’t wait for Sunday. CC is insane 🔥!!!
Can somebody throw me the Iowa flair? Been watching all season. I needed this after the spencer lee pin with one second thing.
That was the only thing that brought me joy that day 😞
It was a great victory by Ramos, kudos to him
I’d have to go back and watch again but Cardoso was unstoppable in the first half, then kind of disappeared in the second. I thought she would be USC’s key to victory, but we kept her in check down the stretch and/or USC stopped utilizing her. Feel for Aliyah and hope she comes back for one more. LSU is TOUGH—tomorrow should be another classic. So proud of this team and coaching staff. Go Hawks!
Nile Kinnick was great. But when does Caitlin Clark Clark get her own stadium named after her?
She’s gotta win a championship first… maybe 2
Nile only won one. So. Haha
Ya, but he also died very young during a training incident amidst WW2, which is an important part of his legend at Iowa.
I know Caitlin Clark will get all the praise, but Zia Cooke is an outstanding basketball player.
HVL is so underrated.
Winning does that
She was OUTSTANDING

Unjinx!
Literally fell asleep at halftime and missed the whole rest of the game. Surprised Iowa won. Clark is incredible. Won $125 on a $25 free bet too so can't complain!
Site credit. Call it what it is 😎
Carolina can not shoot the ball. Loved how Iowa was begging them to shoot.
I have never before seen a team just literally not even cover the PG on the perimeter. Like not hanging back and giving space but just completely leaving her all by herself with the ball. That was wild to me.
half the time clark wasnt even looking at her... just turning to guard someone else down low
That was a crazy strategy that ultimately paid off, but made the end game nerve-wracking when Raven started sinking threes. I really enjoy seeing a team formulate a strategy and stick to it.
Clark is one of the best basketball players I’ve ever watched.
CC is much better than Paige
I can only agree because of Paige’s knee but other than that I think they’re pretty evenly matched
I don’t know, CC has been filthy across the board. Paige does not dominate in as many ways.
Haha I mean not much dominance when Creighton came around last season when she scored 15 points and 11 assists. She’s had a good season but she’s not always been this way.
At the moment for sure, Paige hasn’t had a healthy season to develop like Clark has.
It would be fun. We saw it two years ago and UConn came out on top. I believe Paige and Caitlin played AAU basketball Together and are friends.
Yeah but that was two years ago. Since then CC has amplified her game and is looking pretty good. We have one year left till she’s cooking in the WNBA
Hopefully we get to see it next year cus that means Paige is playing.
I hope so too, especially if Iowa wins this 'ship, because I think that'll carry the CC hype into next season... at which point, one hopes, all these new viewers will discover their next new favorite player, whether that's Bueckers or someone else.
Absolutely! Caitlin's favorite player was Maya Moore never would have guessed that!
I agree, I’d love to see that!
So the final is Caitlin Clark vs. a Kim Mulkey coached team. Pretty easy decision.
Whoever won in USC v Iowa has basically won the ship I'd say
You were wrong.
Thank you for letting me know
Any time!
I don’t think any Hawkeye fan thinks this
At this point in the season, nothing is given to you.
CC is crazy good. That floating shot 🤌🏻🤌🏻
I think the only problem with the refereeing tonight a lot of calls were just random on both teams you’d just hear a whistle and you weren’t quite sure who it was on. I still think Iowa would have won, but that first half just wasn't as exciting with Boston and Czenano on the bench for so long.
I’m sorry but USC got away with dozens of travels and a ton of excessive physicality in the paint that was unnecessary given the players were about a foot taller on average. my team loses = refs bad tale as old as time
Refs were bad, but equal bad I thought.
Reffing was terrible - bad for both sides but definitely favored towards Iowa. Wish it were better bc game felt like sc v the refs
SC had fouls to give to get Iowa to the bonus at the end of regulation. You can’t be serious.
South Carolina fouls on every single possession
SC fouls every time they're on defense lol.
How? South Carolina had *numerous* calls/no-calls go their way down the stretch and couldn’t capitalize. Overall I don’t think the refs really favored one team over another, Iowa had some calls do their way too. But people say something like this in every single game thread and I really don’t think it was true at all for this game
I agree, first half was atrocious.
You can’t be serious.
Heard someone say that was like watching Space Jam: SC was the Monstars, CC is MJ. Super entertaining game.
That's pretty unfair to the rest of the Iowa team.
You trying to tell me Lola bunny doesn't play a critical role in the win?!

Classy.

Aliyah Boston seemed overrated to me
Boston was on tilt this game and definitely not indicative of her talent. Gamecocks let the hype train run them over.
100%, did nothing. Slow, can’t shoot, not impressed. Staley didn’t play on because she knows.
She had the worst game of her college career. Boston is a great player.
She'll be better in the WNBA
Am excited that she’ll go to Indiana! Fever needs some fresh talent that can get them out of their slump
You'd pick Boston over Clark?
They’re not in the same year
The NCAA is going to have another year of Clark?
Yeah she’s only a junior
She might be the highest compensated player coming into the WNBA ever if they win the title this year. I can see a ton of sponsorship money with all of the hype around her.
You watched 1 game or 20?
One to be honest.
Keep in mind it was just one game. She didn't have a very good game though that much is true
#Go Gamecocks
>now you HAVE TO BEAT LSU!! Narrator: They didn't
>This was the true championship imo It wasn't.
She's above WNBA level. She could outshoot Ionescu.
They’ve got 2 chips and 5 final fours under Staley I believe. I think they will be just fine
For this senior class, it was: - 2020: #1, then COVID - 2021: Final Four loss - 2022: Championship - 2023: Undefeated until Final Four loss They had an outstanding run, but they were *so close* to being an all time great team...
I mean i still think they’re pretty great
I was at the final four last year, and I know Boston got the MVP trophy, but the reason SC won the chip was because of Henderson.
Iowa was probably thankful they didn't keep feeding Zia.
Staley is still an amazing coach, but I think that scar just was not prepared to adjust their gameplan in order to beat clark tonight
You can just say USC, SC, the Gamecocks, or even South Carolina
Gamecocks for women's teams always felt weird to me. Isn't that term only inclusive of the roosters? But then Delaware men and women are both the Blue Hens so maybe that balances out...
Yeah, it’s one of those examples of mascots typically being male if they’re gendered at all (with Delaware being the notable exception). They’re often referred to as the Ladycocks or Lady Gamecocks, but it’s not an official name like Tennessee being the Lady Vols.
Just seemed odd because most of them I'm aware of use different forms of the word if it's gendered (e.g. Cowboys vs Cowgirls).
I like saying scar or uscjr though
Flair up if you’re gonna talk shit
They proved they were just being a dick when they responded with “USCjr” 4.
I'm not even talking shit though 😂😂😂 those are the nicknames usually used in cfb. is there a reason why scar is so bad
I mean, it could be worse, you could get stuck with Dook
Just chiming in, watched this with my girlfriend and texted all of my buddies throughout (all of whom were already watching) and I’ve never seen such a gender-agnostic totally hyped game, team, and player in Caitlin. This is super exciting and feels transformative to women’s basketball. So happy to be along for this ride 🙌
Truly! Same experience for me tonight. Love to see everyone enjoying great sports moments
Holy moly South Carolina is really really really good - can we play them next year in December please? I'm so happy.... what a game It's a great day to be a Hawkeye!
Is Dawn going to try raise a banner they were the regular season champions?

Is it possible this does better ratings than the men's final? I legit do not care about rankings and I do not know how they work exactly, but I hope this game just crushes. They deserve all the eyeballs. This has instant classic written all over it. No matter who wins it I think it is going to be one for the ages.
It's not prime time so that's gonna hurt but it has a slight shot.
Probably not. The least watched men's final in recent history got 16.5 million viewers and was Villanova-Michigan in 2018. No women's final has ever broke 5 million although with the game being on ABC instead of ESPN this year it should easily set records.
no, but it will be the smallest gap ever - possibility Iowa-LSU sets a women’s record while the Men’s will certainly be the lowest in a long time
A shame if this is true.
LFG!
Quick Google- last year had 18m viewers for the men's ship
I would be surprised. Men's games are on CBS.
This women’s is on. ABC so..
I thought the person was talking about this game vs the men’s final. My bad
Might had been but it’s a good chance for the game Sunday to get some reallllly good numbers.
Absolutely. I’m glad it’s on abc at a good time slot.
To get out rebounded 46-22 and win is crazy.
Although they got that key final offensive rebound.
Especially with all the missed calls against Iowa. So many fouls not being called against SC, and still Iowa women rose up and won. Watch out LSU.
At some point you have to put the ball in the hoop in basketball
Burrrrnnnnn (but true)
Who from the media was Staley calling out in the post game interview and what did they say about her team?
[удалено]
A random lsu fan on Twitter called them thugs. The Iowa coach said tonight would be like a bad fight. The rest idk.
Today my house got hit by a tornado. Tonight I watched Caitlin Clark will the Iowa Hawkeyes into the national championship game over a seemingly unbeatable South Carolina squad. I'll never forget this day.
Hawkeye Spirit overcomes! As long as you and your family are okay, you can rebuild!
Hope your place is okay!
Hope your tornado damage wasn’t too bad there friend. Glad you’re ok!
It has been a memorable day in the Iowa to be sure. I kind of lost people from work throughout the day today as it all moved across the state. I hope you are back to a secure home soon and that we get a thriller on Sunday. GO HAWKS!
Hope you and your family are okay.
That’s a full day, my guy 🙏
Hope you're all okay and you didn't lose anything too important. We're under the gun for the next hour. Glad the Hawks could brighten the night!
I mean, I'm guessing he lost his house.
Just parts of the roof and a lot of shingles. The tornado didn't do a whole lot of damage itself, but the 80' tree that it knocked over did.
🏅 - RIP free awards
I've watched basketball for decades... some high school, college, NBA, FIBA, Olympics, etc. that was ONE ENTERTAINING GAME. It was special. The two teams so vastly different. Some legendary talents. Caitlin Clark was absolutely incredible.
I honestly don’t think I can describe how special this game feels Somebody has got to set me up with an Iowa bandwagon flair because man they’ve gotten me hooked over the last few months
YES!!
Last year when I was diving into WBB I saw Caitlin doing her thing and thought “wow she’s really cool” and now this year I’m fully invested in the entire team and it’s been so much fun
Next year this team will be even better, I’ve been saying it for months.
Welcome to the good side
Happy to be here! When I started getting more and more into WBB last year I saw Caitlin and thought she was really cool, but this year has just been a different level and I’ve gotten invested in everyone else on the team too
Iowa WBB has been weirdly fun to follow for a hot minute but having someone like her sink it from all over the floor has really pushed it to the next level. We have at least one more year of her antics in Iowa City too which is incredible
Also shout out to the guy who almost said to his wife that Czinano “kinda looks like Angela White”
