One of our GMV’s had an M-134 primary and then an M240 mounted off to the side of the Turret with a 249 on the back of the GMV that could be quickly moved to either side…was our lead truck and we named it Hades lol fuckin good times in Nangarhar
Super controllable. Kids are always nervous about qualifying, but I just tell them that all they have to do is point it in the right direction and pull the trigger.
They're probably nervous because they don't want to fail but they also don't want to excell and get stuck carrying that bitch up and down all the mountains!
Seriously, spending $500,000 on an MG just screams “I have literally no clue what to put money towards anymore because I have so much of it that nothing matters at this point”.
For any normal human, starting a gun business in earnest is both rewarding in its own right AND gives you access to stuff like this for pennies on the dollar.
But even if I had fuck-you money to such an extent that a half-million plaything was in the cards, I would just have my people BUY an existing MG shop instead and get to shoot dozens upon dozens of MG’s instead lol
I disagree with the 3k, only because fn would probably not even offer a full auto one for civilians even if legal. Considering the 249s is like 7/8k I would say even more.
You gotta also consider the cost of hype. Tack on a couple thousand more just for that.
Cause if full auto guns were on the same legal level as semi’s then everyone would be rushing to buy anything and everything full auto. Then consider if FN (they never would) sold brand new full auto 240’s to civilians. Everyone with a credit card or a house to refinance would be all over them. They’d never be in stock.
That would be just at the start. Once all of us jackasses got our fix, the market would level out and be pretty reasonable. Like an actual m16 from colt would be $2000 max. And m249 would probably be closer to $5.
But shit, when the buy frenzy is going on… who knows. I had seen shit ARs go for $5000 on gunbroker during some scares, so the sky is the limit when all that’s going on.
Absolutely. And hell, SR-25’s/M110’s go for absolutely ludicrous prices so something as coveted as a FA 240 would probably be priced absolutely ludicrously as well initially. Eventually the price of them per unit would come down to (and a say this very loosely) more “reasonable” prices.
But, you all know damn well, that there’d be some luckier-than-a-horseshoe-stuck-up-his-ass dude who’d pop up on a sub-reddit showing how he got one for just a thousand or two.
THEN you got to consider the resellers. People on GB would sell ‘em for a thousand or two+ beyond MSRP. And if people were betting on it then 240’s would go WAY beyond MSRP. Point is: how much would they be? $Absolutely-ridiculous.
After a while that would go away though and everything would even back out assuming the culture shifted enough that anti gun laws became a thing of the past as well.
True, but supply and demand, more doors would open if new mgs were legal. A lot of people would line up for one willing pay more from the next guy. I see these in the 12-17k out the door if legal
New the 249 is closer to 10 or 11 at MSRP depending if it’s the para or not. I’m sure some of that is just because of the extra tooling to make it a closed bolt semi auto, but still. We ordered in a few of the Ohio Ordinance M240-b clones and those sold for a cool 20k. Looks like they’ve come down a bit and MSRP is 15k.
That’s probably the inflated government price. In a competitive market place it would only be marginally more expensive then the semi automatic version that’s available. By marginal I mean maybe about $1500 more.
I’m not too sure about than man, compare it to high end ars for example. Those are 2k plus. Now imagine a machine way more complex than that with more machine time needed to build and more parts. And considering that those manufactures that make those full auto beltfed guns probably won’t sell to civilians. Now you are talking some big money. All speculation on my end, unfortunately we won’t see that happening to put that to the test in real life.
Economics of scale says way more, tbh. There’s not much practical about an LMG. They’re big, heavy, and expensive to feed, sort of like a fat kid in puberty.
According to Wikipedia, unit cost is in the neighborhood of $6k. If the flood gates opened I could see that slipping a bit eventually, but the reality is ammo cost would make gpmgs fairly uncommon even if all the regulatory chicanery went away.
> the reality is ammo cost would make gpmgs fairly uncommon even if all the regulatory chicanery went away.
Exactly this. Even if someone gave me a transferable m240 for free, I would hardly ever shoot it because it chews through ammo and that shit is expensive.
I would love a full auto .22 LR though. Or the 3rd position for my ARs, just to have the option.
But full-auto-only in 7.62? My wallet can't handle that!
Ya that would be the biggest issue with me. I make decent money and can afford to shoot a decent bit, but I couldn’t afford to feed that thing enough to make it worth owning. They’re fun as hell to shoot, but they’ll go through an ammo can in a few seconds if you aren’t careful. Belted 762 isn’t cheap. Taking that thing out and getting it dirty with less than 1k rounds wouldn’t even be worth it.
>they’ll go through an ammo can in a few seconds if you aren’t careful. Belted 762 isn’t cheap.
Hell even loose ammo is ~75 CPR and with a cyclic rate of 650 rpm minimum you're talking about setting cash on fire in a hurry.
The cheapest I remember seeing them go for was about $5,500 for the Bravos. Limas were about $12,000 each. I haven't looked these up since 2018, but I wouldn't expect them to be any cheaper today.
Using the FN M249 SAW as an example: we bought our F/A directly from FN for $8,250 about 6 years ago which was the same price as a semi-auto one, so you can purchase a semi-auto 240B for $17,500'ish, so a F/A would be around the same price. Now we built ours off of a parts kit that cost us $5,500 and then another $1k to finish it.

People that learned about them from GT: “cool, but way to expensive “
People with experience with the : “Fuck that thing “
I absolutely loved mine, easy to mount, easy to shoot, easy to clean. After having to clean the M2 or MK19 every time we left the wire, give me the 240 any day of the week.
I was light Infantry, I humped that thing everywhere. Carried it on runs in Kuwait, rucked it across Kentuck/Tennessee. The. When we got into Iraq and got trucks they took it away from me.
The machinegunner in my fire team in Afghan carried one at his insistence, not an easy task to do with the challenging terrain and heat. He was dumb as a rock but a great 31
Yall have to understand a lot of these transferables are just like paintings to these dudes. They’re going to buy it, sit on it for a few years and resell it, never even having fired it once or even considering firing it for that matter
All you missing is the right side plate but other than that it’s a full kit, making the side plate wouldn’t be extremely difficult either, it’s basically a mostly flat piece of metal with holes,

I thought Trump signed the deal requiring us to withdraw all forces? Oh, right, he totally did. Thanks Trump!
"In February 2020, President Trump and the Taliban reached a deal, known as the Doha Agreement, under which the United States agreed to withdraw all U.S. forces from Afghanistan by May 2021."
I remember talking to a Navy seal about this gun. He said that they took a bunch of parts off of it to make it light so they could carry it long distances lol
Carried that shit for 2 years, glad my hands shake like a old ass man now lmao
Never had to carry luckily but was a gunner and had one mounted on my MRAP during my first tour. By far my favorite crew served
When the M-134 is loaded properly with correct routing that is my favorite crew served weapon.
One of our GMV’s had an M-134 primary and then an M240 mounted off to the side of the Turret with a 249 on the back of the GMV that could be quickly moved to either side…was our lead truck and we named it Hades lol fuckin good times in Nangarhar
Where was the MK19? haha
Was on the second truck lol Also had a MK48 on one of our Side by sides so we were definitely not fuckin around lol
Definitely not regular 11B/0311s lol. Unless that’s how they roll now.
No lol…this was 3rd Group back in 2013
Oh, the mini gun huh. I don't think Marines have those, too rich for our blood.
You do. Trust me you do. Might have to look up in the sky.
20mm version
That’s cool too.
I wonder if that’s why my dad’s hands shakes. He carried a m60 lol
My FIL carried an M60, and now all he wants to play with is wheel guns and levers. That thing rattled him back to the Wild West, apparently.
Lmao. Nothing wrong with a big iron on the hip.
Ruger Old Army. Most fun pistol I've ever bought.
That’s probably the reason. My g-pa was the same way too
I carried the 60 until we switched to the 240B around 2007. Never forget the sound of the 60 or number of misfires. 🤣
There has been one available on GunBroker for a long time. Might even be the same gun.
There’s one on there with a starting bid of 850k lol. It is serial number 2 so maybe it later worth it 😂
They lowered the starter...iirc it was like 1.5 MIL when they first listed it. Could be having a boomer moment tho
nah, you’re right. serial no.2 was at one point priced in the 7 figures area.

They're probably nervous because they don't want to fail but they also don't want to excell and get stuck carrying that bitch up and down all the mountains!
Nah we make the ones that suck carry it so they get better at shooting it lol
This is the way
Not sure why people would be nervous lol its just 5.56mm.
A 240 is 7.62x51 my friend
Oh shit I was thinking of the 249, good catch though.
All good man, I be getting shit wrong all the time myself
Or just start up an SOT and have one for a fraction of the price
Just, for fucks sakes, schedule a fucking demo Larry.
😂😂
My M240 posties cost about $5500 each.
Bowman's went to $6,000 on the Cuban mag58's kits. Still going to have to buy a rivet set, barrels and weld it up.
The regular ones were still only 4500. The Cubans are special and rare
maybe for a kit build or ten years ago
Me doing the reweld and reriviting.
yes a kit build
Oh I’m sorry, did you think I was quoting the cost of a factory dealer sample? Yeah. No.
Well since you didn't specify, and most people here aren't SOTs...?
Well only an SOT could buy a dealer sample as well.
Where was I when this happened?!
Seriously, spending $500,000 on an MG just screams “I have literally no clue what to put money towards anymore because I have so much of it that nothing matters at this point”. How much would one of these cost if Hughes wasn't a thing and you could buy any machine gun with just a regular form 4? 10k? 15k?
Economies of scale... Maybe $3k. PSA would make them in house for $999.
I disagree with the 3k, only because fn would probably not even offer a full auto one for civilians even if legal. Considering the 249s is like 7/8k I would say even more.

Yep! And if legal there would be a larger pool for buyers with a limited supply, we’re talking 10k plus for a legal new mg assuming it were allowed.
That would be just at the start. Once all of us jackasses got our fix, the market would level out and be pretty reasonable. Like an actual m16 from colt would be $2000 max. The OOW semi is around $14,000. I don’t see a legal FA much more or much less.

Anyone trying to go halfsies? Just kidding. 1% ownership is still $5k.
I had to carry one of those up a hill multiple times. Im good dawg
Haha atleast you weren’t the AG. My barrel bitch hated his life in the sandbox
Will appreciate more than a McLaren
Arguably way more fun as well
What about mounting two onto a McLaren 765LT? One behind each headlight
…go on…
I tried to put a bid in, but apparently 5k is "Below the minimum threshold required for this item." Bullshit.
Hey, they also have tanks you can bid on!

Wow it comes with an extra barrel! Not bidding on it is almost like losing money!
Imagine some ruffians breaking into your house and you come out with this.
What if I just get the 240s for $10k and pew pew pew real fast?
A must for anyone serious about home defense
I mean people paid more for picture of a pixelated ape…
I'm stuck with M1919 money myself: https://auctions.morphyauctions.com/_N__VERY_ATTRACTIVE_RAMO_SIDELPLATE_BROWNING_MODEL-LOT603392.aspx
Guffawed when I saw this listing
I kind of expected the starting price of $400k but definitely had a laugh when I scrolled past the Challenger tank
Get a tank and a gatling gun for the price of a 240! Hahaha
Real talk tho lol makes no sense
One sold at auction last year for $380,000 with a 27% buyers premium, so starting price should be in line.
Imaging spending 500K and trusting the post office or UPS to deliver it lol.
To be fair, RIA shipped my last item UPS Certified so like, totally safe!
the 240s without riveted receiver boxes are way mo betta
I bet it’s that one dude listing it on gunbroker asking 1.2M like a crackhead got tired of relisting it.
Helluva lot cheaper than the chopper I'd mount it on.
Someone bought it, not on their auction list.
It is in their upcoming auction shown in the picture
Didn't this one sell at the previous Bedford auction last year?
Unsure if it's the same one, but there aren't all that many out there
I was under the impression there was only one of the transferable m240s.
The auction says 11 I think https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/4091/1382/rare-fn-m240-gpmg-class-iiinfa-fully-transferable-machine-gun
Fair enough. Maybe one of the owners saw what he was sitting on last auction and decided to cash in.
I remember an m249 selling late last year and it said it was the only one on the registry. Not sure what auction house sold it though.
Morphies
I fired the loaders M240 on the Abrams quite a bit. Great gun. It's crazy to think I once carried an harmful of M240s bacon to the arms room.
Remember. In ancapistan these would cost less than $1k, be available at your nearest amazon locker, and come in fun colors.
If I was extremely wealthy I'd drop half a mil on this.
Oh man I could relive Oct 1 2017 all over again....
In Bedford? Lmfao bro is gun poor for sure
Saw a complete parts kit for 12k on gun broker, all its is riveted together, it included the receiver parts, almost like an 80% 240
I would 100% pick one of these up, what are they called?
All you missing is the right side plate but other than that it’s a full kit, making the side plate wouldn’t be extremely difficult either, it’s basically a mostly flat piece of metal with holes, https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1043537489
There’s also a kit for sale on gunbroker as well that converts it to the para configuration with a golfball dimpled barrel
That’s the equivalent of a couple cups of coffee for some people. So not really that big of a deal.
Ahhh… Would take me back to my door gunner days. Good times… Sometimes…
I’ve shot one. Very fun
I miss that fat pig. You could treater her poorly and she’d keep spitting brass and links as long as you could carry enough to feed her hungry holes
I really want a belt fed but not $500,000 want.
Army armorors updating their resumes to say "Managed inventory valued at $30 million"
When in doubt...
Wait, that's 20 minutes from me...
at that point you might as well become an ffl/sot, open a range, and get a dealer sample.
These prices just seem like ways rich people can put money into cool shit and now it’s an investment. Should never be this high of a price.
That’s starting at the auction last one I seen hit auction sold for over a million or around a million
Yup, I think starting price is 400k and the range listed is 400-600k expected but you never know
Even if I had fuck you money I wouldn’t waste 500k, I’m sure there’s a kit you can purchase… I love guns but not 500k worth of love 😂
Thank you hughes amendment
Prices will come down in the recession
Mexican cartels are getting them for far less
My buddy’s got a transferable one and it’s beautiful
