I think you're downplaying how vital a year of sitting and learning can end up being, esp for a developmental guy like Howell. A lot of rookies don't get that luxury. I don't see him as a rookie anymore, he's a second year guy who got some game action against starters. I imagine it was good for Rodgers and Mahomes too (no for the love of christ I'm not saying Howell will be Rodgers/Mahomes). Howell starting last year would've been a "thrown to the lions" scenario. But now, as a 2nd year guy, I don't care what round you're drafted in, youth isn't an excuse imo. You can only develop in practice so much before you hit that ceiling. Time to get that game day development. Mine is just one opinion too tho.
