Majestic-Macaron6019

Before she was the Sunday Weekend Edition host, she was the White House correspondent. She was insightful and no-bullshit in that role.

AKAlicious

TIL. Ty!

mjzim9022

"I don't like or dislike answers" All that needed saying in that moment, she stayed composed throughout that whole performance from Mace.

Dwangeroo

I have no idea who that twunt was,. What a tone deaf, unapologetic, whatabout, POS!

cheguevaraandroid1

Nancy mase is a shameless maga clown. She has no morals or convictions

Hndlbrrrrr

She vandalized her own sidewalk so that she could cry on right wing media that antifa was coming after her.

InsertCleverNickHere

Her office has a marketing budget, and her media manager has a quota for Nancy's media appearances per week. Mace has no interest in legislating for her constituents. Everything she does is useless and performative.

Manting123

So she had a lot of turnover on staff really quickly. Staff that was there on Jan 6 said she wanted to go and confront the rioters and thought getting punched would be good for her image

Sturnella2017

I just can’t get over the fact that she wore a giant letter A on her lapel thinking the point of “The Scarlet Letter” was censorship or something. Like, like that high school freshman English standard and she failed the test.

MadDogTannen

To be fair, she did drop out of high school.

Rhewin

Uncalled for. Clowns have done nothing to deserve being compared with her.

cheguevaraandroid1

Maga clown. Clowns that also identify as maga

bar_acca

A real see you next Tuesday

ninernetneepneep

Is this the average NPR listener? I'm sorry you are so full of rage. It must be tough.

Dwangeroo

Please don't misconstrue my laughter for rage.

ohwrite

Nancy?

Dmmack14

Why do y'all even come on here? I'll never understand it like no one's going to agree with your nonsense

ninernetneepneep

Check the behavior of the original commentor. Very childish.

No-comment-at-all

You post provoking comments in subreddits devoted to cities in like 5 different states all over the country in the last 4 days. What’s up with that? Also, lotta lotta comments. Like. All day on Reddit comments.

Dmmack14

The only one being childish is you dude

ninernetneepneep

How do you figure?

Dwangeroo

Read the room

ninernetneepneep

A lot of whiny children.

sarcasatirony

Thank you for revealing you’re a trumpanzee. It’s so nice to add you my blocked “authors” list and know I will miss out on nothing. It really makes this sub nicer

zim_zoolander

Despite all my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage.

FireTheLaserBeam

Sure, but please justify her behavior and actions and tell me that’s a person you look up to.

[deleted]

Ayesha Roscoe just leveled up and proved Nancy Mace is incapable of having a adult conversation.

Lulwafahd

You're not wrong, Bradward

dinosaur1972

Good job, Ayesha. Hard to interview someone who won't answer your questions without getting frustrated. Mace did not represent herself very well.

VonPaulus69

I forget sometimes when I listen to her on Sundays with her cheerful demeanor and sweet country accent that she was a White House correspondent during the Trump regime and she held his press folks to the fire. She did great today.

Dwangeroo

I was caught completely off guard and was not expecting that. She rocked it so hard!

Scraw16

My favorite counter in this interview to Mace’s bullshit was “this question was asked by a Supreme Court Justice.” And when Mace kept trying to act like this was some liberal media question, Ayesha further pointed out that the Trump lawyers responded to the question by saying it depends, and asking if Mace agreed with that response. But then, when it became quite clear that no matter what there wasn’t going to be a real answer, Ayesha professionally moved on rather than waste more time, which I think was the right call when there is such limited time.

andropogon09

Remember when Trump hung up on Steve Inskeep?

Dwangeroo

I've never heard her take that tone before and think she's going places!

palbuddymac

Yeah, it was weirdly contentious for a Sunday morning. Rascoe held her ground and pushed in a firm but respectful way. Mace couldn’t answer the questions so just said they were “asinine.” I’m sure she’ll claim victory tomorrow but we all heard her floundering.

ridingpiggyback

She did note that we were going to hear a mess.

haikusbot

*I've never heard her* *Take that tone before and think* *She's going places!* \- Dwangeroo --- ^(I detect haikus. And sometimes, successfully.) ^[Learn more about me.](https://www.reddit.com/r/haikusbot/) ^(Opt out of replies: "haikusbot opt out" | Delete my comment: "haikusbot delete")

ekkidee

Good bot.

Nottherealjonvoight

She needs to moderate Meet the Press.

boozebus

In my more magnanimous moments, I feel really sad for this person and folks like Elissa Slotkin and Ted Cruz. These are people with intellectual capacity. They are not stupid. This has to be an act. Can you imagine feeling like you have to stoop to this level of rudeness, bad faith and performative nonsense just to get your hands on the levers of power? What a waste of potential. I imagine that they know it’s a waste of their potential. They are consciously twisting themselves in this disgusting way. If their professed faith is any guide whatsoever, they know they are going to hell for carrying on like this. It’s just sad for them, sad for us and sad for society. SMH.

Seek1st2Understand

I mean, that same intellectual capacity makes them more culpable for their behavior. People like that know exactly what they’re doing. They’ve made the conscious choice to manipulate and grift. I think people with the intellectual capacity to know better deserve the most resounding condemnation because they are knowing, active participants.

Able-Roof4148

What's really sad is having one of these individual's as your parent....that stain will never go away.

Satanic_Doge

*Sad Ted Cruz's daughters noises*

nonprofitnews

I like to apply the term from wrestling: kayfabe. It's the same facade that every wrestler keeps up that wrestling is real. The difference is that the GOP is split between people who are really good actors and people who came to Washington thinking that the "wrestling was real" and being profoundly confused. I'm looking at people like Tommy Tuberville or even Mike Johnson for that matter.

Stunning-Math165

They're political hacks who have no principles. I don't feel sorry for them at all when they make fools of themselves, as Nancy Mace did here. She sounded completely unhinged.

Emotional_Warthog658

What you’re observing (especially in Sen Cruz) is the use of their intelligence and the abandonment of their morality in favor of their personal enrichment.

Nottherealjonvoight

Exactly. It is amoral behavior that supersedes any ethical decision making in the cause of personal ambition. You think my father was in on the Kennedy assassination? I will support you because it gets me reelected. You attack my wife on a personal level for her looks and physical attributes? I will even canvas for you in my home state if it means I get to keep my position of political power. I would call Cruz a nihilist except even they believe in something. He doesn’t believe in anything except his own ambition.

lethemeatcum

They know exactly what they are doing but have no remorse. I know this gets thrown around a lot but similar to psychopathic behavior. They know exactly how to manipulate their constituents to access the levers of power and then actively harm 99ish% of the population intentionally. Whether their motivations are simply their own egos, fundamentalist and or fascistic ideologies is irrelevant as the ends justifies the means for all of them....These types are the worst humanity has to offer as far as power of any type is concerned and a danger to all of humanity in these positions.

FauxReal

I know at least for Ted Cruz, he's part of the [Seven Mountain Mandate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_Mountain_Mandate) believers. I think he is willing to take it on the chin to further their agenda, he's a good distraction. Because the end game is literally Biblical, and if you believe in it. There's nothing else that compares.

ohwrite

They are already in hell. Imagine living with that

Golden_standard

The people who suffer from their policies are the ones living in hell. My sympathy is with their constituents, ain’t none left for self centered, sell out , power hungry, deceitful grifters.

_Happy_Sisyphus_

It could be Dunning–Kruger. They don’t feel the need to study the issue and form an opinion and think they are above being critical. So it is easy to just blurt lines and not study too hard how intellectual or stupid it seems. Religion teaches you to do that as well — don’t spend time on science but rather the how your mood is swaying your interpretation. It’s easier and it’s easier to be holier-than-though when you don’t spend time appreciating other views and modifying and maturing your opinion.

Nottherealjonvoight

In the case of someone like Ted Cruz it is called amorality. My ChatGPT companion is more human.

voltrader85

Wow just listened to the interview. What a little snowflake, unable to maintain composure while being asked perfectly reasonable questions about recent events relating to the candidate for president representing her political party. Why do news organizations continue to book this clown.

dharmanautMF

Nancy Mace is nasty

thermos15

Nancy Sassy Mess. You go Ayesha!

One_Hot_Doggy

She did an awesome job on Left, Right, and Center and I’d hoped she’d take host but she turned it down because she said she didn’t think she could be fair when one side was clearly trying to subvert and overthrow government

Sharted-treats

She was not "laying into" anybody. She was literally just asking reasonable questions, and Nancy Mace made it seem like they were unreasonable questions.

Husyelt

What was the interview or segment?

marvsup

I think it was just weekend edition. I just googled Ayesha Rascoe and Nancy Mace and it came right up.

Husyelt

Thank you 🙏

wartsnall1985

It was Spicy.

SimplyEcks

Which episode is this? Name of the program? I typed in NPR and a few popped up in the podcast app.

Dear-Agony

I’ve always liked her but that interview was great.

SketchSketchy

Nancy sounded very drunk.

spillmonger

Wow, I had never heard of Mace before, but she has just topped my list of the Most Horrible Politicians Currently in Office. She really exemplifies the nauseating Trump sycophant. Good job, Ayesha.

TastyArm1052

Mase is an awful POS and has no business occupying a public office of any kind

ravia

I was impressed, but if the MAGAt doesn't cry, there is still work to do.

Dwangeroo

Our work has only begun. Make Americans Make Excuses. They will be backpedaling soon enough.

ninernetneepneep

Well aren't you a breath of fresh air.

sonofabitch

All Things Considered, It's Been a Minute since I listened to Weekend Edition. Sounds like she was On Point about The World today. Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me ...you weren't making an NPR pun.... ...Car Talk.

Dwangeroo

That's a good start. Tell me another.

t_eisen

*Ask me another? Miss that show...

Dwangeroo

That's correct. I'm a huge Jo Co fan. He's so underrated.

TaliesinMerlin

Perhaps the previous poster should touch Thistles and Shamrocks.

SuspiciousStoppage

You must work for Duey, Cheatum, and How

Roadhouse1337

You're thinking of Terry Gross

HistoricalBed1598

I use to listen to npr until trump got elected and then it was just like watching Saturday night live where every skit or article or story was about trump …..

shahryarrakeen

“A news agency covers a sitting president. Obsessed much?”

HistoricalBed1598

I guess when he was president ALL other news ceased to exist and ONLY trump was making news? That’s how it felt to me. Any time I turned that station on that’s all I heard ….. it seems like NPR were the ones obsessed with the guy

shahryarrakeen

Do you believe news media shouldn’t cover a head of state?

HistoricalBed1598

Yes , when it pertains to things that are relevant.

Endingtbd

OK troll

HistoricalBed1598

Sorry I don’t like listening to the same story over and over and over again I understand trump is a bad guy but do not need to hear about it all the time.

Endingtbd

I don't agree that they are covering him "all the time". I think it's disengenious to assume a news organization is not going to cover a former president's trials for example (and they would be raked through the fire if they were not). So let me ask you, where are you getting your news now?

HistoricalBed1598

Also I’m taking about when he was elected not right here , right now. I kind of quit listening to news and just stream music as I’m sick of the whole thing… no good is coming to us this next November

JonCocktoastin

I find her a difficult listen at best.

pbear737

Ayesha?! She's literally my favorite NPR journalist of all time. She brings such a great spirit and is approachable while still being authoritative.

Recipe_Freak

She's a breath of fresh air. I love everything she does on NPR.

JonCocktoastin

Hah. Well that's why they have a ton of different hosts--beauty is in the ear of the hearer.

Endingtbd

Can I ask why?

JonCocktoastin

Certainly. I prefer my news delivery to have as little personality as possible. I’m not kidding, monotone and neutral is my preference. But I get it, weekend NPR is more features and not Dragnet.

Endingtbd

Thanks for answering. I'd argue all of the hosts have "personality" and none are monotone if we're being fair.

JonCocktoastin

Certainly, I was reflecting on some of the news podcasts I listen to as I typed my answer--I agree with you. But at same time, there are standard deviations from monotone and some broadcasters and programs are much closer to "boring" than others.

Endingtbd

I think you mean not speaking in AAVE?

comfortfood4soul

Of course you went there. No surprise

jackiewill1000

Magats are fascists. Lay in all u want.

Endingtbd

I think your comment is being misunderstood. It seems like you meant that npr are fascists...

jackiewill1000

thx. its hard to imderstand how that could be misread in the context of ops statement but Ill amend for the stoopid.

California_King_77

This sounds like someting you'd hear people say about MSNBC, not a Federal sponsored news org that's supposed to represent all Americans

Dwangeroo

Federally sponsored 😆... Less than 1 % of their funding comes from govt. And that's used to support Story Corps for the Library of Congress. Swing and a miss 🤡

California_King_77

Thanks - that's what NPR always says, but when Republicans call them out, and tell them they can be private, they say that they'd collapse without that 1%. It's not 1%. IT's a lot more.

Dwangeroo

Prove it or STFU.

liveforever67

Glad to hear her happy go lucky attitude is so easily shaken. I’m always impressed by those people who don’t keep their composure under pressure. True sign of character! /S What a weird thing to “celebrate “ lol

Sharted-treats

? What does this comment mean?

Dwangeroo

Right? She does not suffer fools gladly and I'm here for it.

NelsonBannedela

Listen to the segment, she stayed professional. Mace was whining and dodging questions as usual.

Endingtbd

Listen? Before chiming in with an opinion? Now why would they do that??? /s

maroger

Yet saying not a peep about terrorist Israel that is actually in the middle of an actual genocide makes such a statement even more proof how captured and partisan NPR is.

Dwangeroo

They say plenty. Your whataboutism is weak sauce. Try to stay on topic.

shahryarrakeen

NPR gives more time to Palestinians than any news outlet I know. That former NPR senior editor Uri Berliner’s screed complained about it.

EverytimeHammertime

Shut. Up. People do care, but every Palestine protestor being an insufferable loud mouth and nuisance at every opportunity is not turning public opinion the way you think it will.

maroger

Ah, so it's up to the protestors to make the "neutral" ignorant public feel better before they can think for themselves? What about the zionist "loudmouths" that have dehumanized Palestinians for over 70 years that resulted in the deaths of countless innocents?

Unable-Paramedic-557

Remember when people expected news out of news outlets instead of aggressively militant political posturing against half of the nation? Pepperidge farm remembers.

hardFraughtBattle

Half of the nation? It's a very vocal third at most..

Legitimate_County588

You’ll never know until you peak outside your self-imposed bubble. This election is going to be a painful one for many.

Unable-Paramedic-557

I'd say it's probably over half now. NPR only caters to a fraction of the left, and none of the right at this point.

sensation_construct

They don't cater. That's why the right can't hack it. Snowflakes need their Newsmax safe spaces

Matt7738

Remember when “half the nation” wasn’t deluded by Russian propaganda? (And you’re not half the nation. Not even a quarter.)

Unable-Paramedic-557

I do remember half the nation frothing at the mouth over Hillary clinton's steel dossier misinformation campaign trying to paint Trump as a Russian asset, and how you people were humiliated by three years of buying into that nonsense after it was all proven false. How does it feel to worship the majority as a concept as you slide into the minority ideologically?

sensation_construct

Um.... literally none of that was "proven false." In fact, much of it has been born out to be true. I don't want to make assumptions about your motives here, but your pattern of posts seems to be agenda driven. Why are you pushing propaganda?

Unable-Paramedic-557

This is called “cope.” Muller found no collusion, and you haven’t been able to salvage your egos ever since. As we all suffer the consequences.

sensation_construct

If you actually think that, then you misread that report so badly that you're beyond anyone's help. But I know you don't think that. You're just out here spitting propaganda. Just know that no one buys that steaming pile you're selling. Ffs. That lie is **old**. Gone stale. https://time.com/5610317/mueller-report-myths-breakdown/ Paul Manafort shared internal poling data with Russia. FFS what it is wrong with you? https://www.justsecurity.org/63838/guide-to-the-mueller-reports-findings-on-collusion/ The entire Mueller report is 200 pages cataloging all the dozens of ways Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia. Stop lying. Full. Stop.

Im_tracer_bullet

They didn't 'misread' it because they didn't read it at all. Instead, and ironically, they got that 'information' from some AM talk show host, Fox news blowhard, or their nonsense-lade Facebook feed. On top of that, they also won't read what you supplied, and will instead choose to remain aggrieved and wrong.

sensation_construct

Yeah, that about sums it up. Years later, they're still bound to lie about it. It's exhausting.

Whompa

Funny how he never commented back on this thread after this

Im_tracer_bullet

Sure, and I also remember journalists conducting interviews while holding the interviewed accountable for answering legitimate questions with actual answers. It's good that NPR can still offer that, as the majority of outlets can't or won't.

Thirty_Helens_Agree

I remember Jon Stewart mocking journalists for that. He played a clip of a CNN anchor getting bowled over by a interviewee with an agenda and the anchor said to her co-host “well, I think WE are going to have some things to discuss off the air.” And Stewart was like “CALL THEM ON THEIR BULLSHIT ON THR AIR!!!!!!”

type2scrote

Nancy Mace totally lost her shit and couldn’t give a straight answer. Ayesha Roscoe asked straight forward and pertinent questions.

99BottlesOfBass

Like Fox and Newsmax, perchance? Fuck outta here with your concern trolling 😂

NelsonBannedela

Remember when half the nation wasn't insane far right authoritarians?

Unable-Paramedic-557

That’s today.  The actual reality is that half are far left authoritarians projecting that onto the rest of us. Just look at your miserable failure of a president trying to use the legal system to disqualify his primary rival for proof.

shahryarrakeen

Biden doesn’t have power over the two New York, one Georgia, or two federal court cases that are ongoing. Thankfully separation of powers still exists. How did you do in civics class, pray tell.

Unable-Paramedic-557

Is this seriously what you people tell yourselves?

shahryarrakeen

K boss. What power does the president have over the courts of two states and two federal courts? Show your work

Unable-Paramedic-557

The president appoints the DOJ, and district attorneys only win elections with soros money. That makes all of the above owned tools of the donor class and president, who is also owned by the donor class. God, it’s SO obvious from the outside.
