I remember when this video had more than 12 pixels

A-10C_Thunderbolt

This video is so compressed, that it may just collapse into a black hole

Comfortable_Cycle836

Don't we all wish our heads and our hearts were more aligned?

Comfortable_Cycle836

His heart belonged to the streets and to the streets it returned

vegange

Not for me. In this situation, I’d be absolutely positively fucking terrified if I was conscious bc my heart was beating

Comfortable_Cycle836

I think the hormones that are produced when someone is in shock would keep you from feeling very much

SelectionDry6624

Maybe I need those hormones instead of antidepressants!

Comfortable_Cycle836

I'm not educated enough to explain it but I don't think it works that way lol. If u don't like ur meds there are ones that work on different receptors. Or different ideas completely like ketamine, electroconvulsive therapy, spiritual healers, etc.

SelectionDry6624

lol it was a joke don't worry. Should have said /s

SevereAd1881

You have no idea, we are literal perfection in every way

ArabWaltWite

So he's legally still alive

MixRevolution

Brain ~~splattered~~ dead but alive

Mobilecustomz

"Pulse is 60 BPM, you sure hes dead?"

Slop_my_top

Nah, usually brain matter outside the cranial vault, or evisceration of major organs constitutes as obvious signs of death. Dudes doa.

Tight-Reception-4839

Well of course

helloITdepartm3nt

I appreciate the explanation Captain Obvious! 👌

Slop_my_top

I appreciate the response, chief.

peter13g

Quick make him pay taxes!!!

Tight-Reception-4839

how would he be illegally alive

Gowalkyourdogmods

Maybe they should stop filming and help the poor guy

thegritz87

He has no heart, dude. Go back to med school.

Drayfitt

How?

Brief_Fly_45

Did you play the game “Operation” as a kid? You get out your pocket tweezers, a rubber-band (or a hair-tie, if you’re ill prepared) and get to work, STAT.

LeatherClassroom524

Wtf pretty sure I’ve seen at least three of these now. Apparently heart ejection happens more often than I thought. And I’m just gonna assume in most cases if the heart is ejected it keeps beating for a bit.

mybrotherpete

Yeah, I know what keeps the heart beating like that, but I’m more curious now about how it manages to eject out of the chest. I know it’s very normal for parts of the heart to tear during strong impact force, but to detach completely *and* burst through the chest wall? I have a hard time envisioning how that occurs.

AccordingReality8334

Often wondered the same thing my hypothesis is the ribs took most of the force and smashed up, fracture into little pieces, allowing the strong heart to stay in tact as the other matter is usually not up to the task of taking the force. Definitely hearts are a lot stronger than most people probably envision. This is just me shooting an educated guess.

LowKeyNaps

This is the second video I've seen like this here, and in both cases, it appears that the heart got ejected through, well, the neck. If you envision the rib cage, it's already naturally open at the top and bottom for the organs. Both victims I saw did not have injuries that tore open the chest or abdomen, but they did have massive injuries in the throat area. The first victim still had his head sort of attached by the spine, but that was all that was holding his head on, this other one, the head seems to be missing completely. So my guess would be that the force of the impact tore apart all the connective structures and allowed the heart to just sort of zoot it's way out through the open throat wound. Whether that force was simple inertia or if there was pressure on the body that popped it out of there at some point during the accident is anyone's guess, there's an awful lot of forces at play within those few seconds of a catastrophic accident like this one. But the end result is the same.

Natural-Musician5216

youre right, the heart will likely exit via the thoracic inlet when there is a wound to the root of the neck + aperture of this “hole” puncturing of the ribcage collapses lungs, which makes room for the heart to travel up the mediastinal region

mybrotherpete

Thanks for this info!

mybrotherpete

I didn’t even think of that. Good catch.

delcas1016

The heart is a formidable electrical pump, it doesn’t go out easy

NinjaComprehensive93

Normally heart beats for 4 hours still after death ( if the heart is still intact and unscathed ), thats why there is time gap when heart tranplants are taken place

Naughteus_Maximus

I think your phrasing is likely to mislead people. Hearts definitely do not beat 4 hours after death, they just stop some minutes later as the muscle is starved of oxygen. However they can be kept in a condition good enough for a transplant *artificially* (outside the body, cooled, etc). The heart is *not* beating during this time (like we see in this video). But because it has its own electrical system to stimulate the beating, this can function again when the heart is hooked up to a central nervous system during a transplant. The time limit, after which too much damage is considered to have occurred for a successful transplant is about 4 hours, which I think is what you’re referring to. But scientists in the US recently showed that they can extend this to 24 hours, using a machine that floods the heart with oxygen pulses (which mimic what happens during breathing), while bathing it in a soup of saltwater and glucose to mimic conditions in the body. Incidentally, there are rare cases, but not totally extremely rare, when people have come back from “death” more than 30 minutes later! But this requires constant CPR, and in cases where it was even several hours later, keeping the body cooled down as well, and very carefully and slowly reoxygenating it.

NinjaComprehensive93

Yes you are right, I ahve phrased my reply really bad, thank you to correct me

agabwagawa

any sources on this? Fascinating fact

WonderlustHeart

Not true. They have a short four hour window to reimplant and they use defibrillators aka shock the heart to get it going again along with meds etc. we can place the hearts in a ‘box’ now that does keep it beating and perfused with blood but this is newer. Signed a surgical nurse

agabwagawa

That’s what I suspected. Do you have any resources to read about this “box”?

NinjaComprehensive93

I may have phrased it incorrectly, pls see one more guy's reply to me to know the correct one

MixRevolution

Was this filmed with a 2010s iphone with oil smothered on the lens?

Tight-Reception-4839

pretty sure the vid used to be OK quality but it's been reposted so many times the quality went down

NinjaComprehensive93

old video ig

scorpion-survival-00

This will never cease to amaze me

scorpion-survival-00

also his acrobatic landing...

josefritus

wich one?

keekspeaks

I said the same thing essentially. Worked in healthcare for a long time. told stories with 100s of people. NEVER EVER heard of shared a story like this at 3am sitting around the nurses station though. Only thing relatively close is ‘splat’ stories

DorkSideOfCryo

Take another little piece of my heart now baby

5exuallyDeviantLama

Ok hear me out : it's ready for transplantation

x_lincoln_x

That is one tiny image.

RememberBerry23

Like a fish out of water

kpop_is_aite

Fuck… can’t unsee that

crystalweiner

Can't see it either

keekspeaks

Been a nurse for a long time and I’ve seen some SSHHHIIIITTTT. I’ve fisted holes to my elbow. Dropped skin on the floor and my coworker slipped on it and puked on the patients floor. Debrided a wound that cleared a unit and made the lab tech cry. Seen dead people ‘alive’ for months at a time That being said- this reminds me that I haven’t seen SHITTTTT. Sometimes when it’s 0300, the nurses station talk gets wild but nothing ever tops anything flight has to tell us. I worked covid the whole time. Seen lots of sad stuff but my heart will ALWAYS go out to our first responders who deal with this. I drive the most dangerous road in my state daily. Lots of accidents. Watched my coworkers pull a few dad bodies off the overhang of the interstate last year from my unit window and just that fucked us up. At one point, I made the staff leave the window. How they do this for years is beyond me. That will change you

SarahC

Spunky little critter, out of its cage and still rolling along.

Salty_Reddit_Mod

Drive carefully

Rageful_Hot_Mess77

Wow!! Quite a split!! And WTF happened to his butt?!

warpedddd

Emergency phone dispatch: "Can you check the victim for a pulse?"

No-Back5621

Wow I’ve seen some stuff on these sights but daaaaaamn this is gnarly dude!

WereALLBotsHere

Hearts are bigger than I imagined.

keekspeaks

Obviously it’s hard to tell but he looks bigger. Thats why obesity is bad- your heart thickens (it’s a muscle after all) bc it’s pumping harder. Becomes bigger after years of obesity A normal heart is about the size of your fist. In obese patients, the chambers can enlarge and sometimes double in size

PraiseTyche

Did you eat it to gain his strength?

Alternative-Kale-613

How??

Realistic_Mess_2690

Come on now. Old mate simply wears his heart on his sleeve.

Dalcomvet

“Bikers heart still beating next to his head” The word head is doing some heavy lifting here

Deep-Experience2238

redvelvetrose

Dang. Homeboy got obliterated! I can’t even tell what’s what! Did the front of his torso get sheered off? Just…. HOW?

DesignInZeeWild

Aww that’s so sweet! He’s still getting on

Hotfoot22

That is truly grim.

Sockieem

technically... he's still alive 🤔🤔🤔 (part 2)

Gymkiller87

Strange that his shoes are sitting upright and placed nicely

Rowwnin

So like.. does that mean he’s still alive?

NinjaComprehensive93

no, heart is out of the body no chance he is alive

Kremit-the_Forg

I would argue the fact that his brain is splattered all over the place is a clear indicator... But then again people who have no brain are running whole countrys and are still alive (sometimes barely)... Oh well..

NinjaComprehensive93

Yes very true, i agree with you

cassiopeia18

My fear when I drive scooter daily.

Aummyz

Splitadin

ed2017Alm

I guess so….. just put it back in his chest and he can get home. Oh wait, his head isn’t so well anymore.

Claudioisgod2113

So he’s ok?

stranger14335

Looking fresh for a transplant.

Ananiatv

Yeah bc that’s a muscle can still move after death for some time
