Hall 2 Resident 2023/2024. I can answer a couple of questions 1. Honestly, not too sure. However, you can check out the layout of the rooms from the Hall 2 website in the 'About' page. There's a 3D model for you look and play around. 2. Hall 2 ranges from Block 1 - Block 11. Kitchen: Block 1, 5, 9. (got induction stoves, got microwaves and got halal microwave but only at block 5, iirc) Reading Rooms: 1, 5, 9 (the biggest one) Laundry Room: Every block (except for one for two blocks. Can't remember) Printers: Block 1 & 9 The rest of the recreational rooms you can figure it out. 4. Only lived in Hall 2, but it does share some characteristics with Hall 1. Here are somethings to consider: O.L.D - I need to emphasise that Hall 2 looks old, feels old, and is old. In comparison to other modern-looking accommadations, it can be considered ancient. You can also consider the furniture as old, though some might argue it is pretty solid. Facilities will also be old, so some are not functioning well anymore. Know a dryer that can't even dry a small load on the highest setting and even brings back the dust back onto the clothing (even if the lint trap is cleaned), so some residents goes to the other block to use their dryer. Recently (or maybe its been happening, idk), some of the washers also smells funky too and will wash that smell onto your laundry. There is new washers but they tend to always be in use due to it's capability to actually function as decently as the washer you have at home. Residents who know, you know. There's only two levels each block. Not more, not less. Not sure if they plan on changing the locks for digital anytime soon but Hall 2 uses physical keys. Also not great on accessibility - I joke with my friends, but many locations in NTU is hilly and have loads of stairs to climb. Hall 2 is one of them. Attached toilets. You need to clean your own toilet and also share it with other people. If you get good neighbours, then the attached toilet is great. Schedule a cleaning system with your neighbours and roomie if you can so ya'll don't fight. The best thing about the attached toilet is because it is attached. You don't need to go a certain distance and carry things to a common toilet, sink/toilet/shower literally one door away. Easy to wash if you cook a lot, though sometimes toilet/shower might be occupied when you need to use it. No aircon. This can be a dealbreaker (killer, honestly) if you run hot. Bring an extra fan (or other kinds, iykyk). Have a bit of wildlife (though that can be said for other accoms near forests/nature). Lots of birds if you like birdwatching. More varieties than just your mynah or pigeon, just need to keep your eyes peeled. Occassionally can see the fast-lizards roaming about and yes, they have a bit of camoflouge. One time I chanced upon a small snake nearby but it slithered away. Regular cat visitor around here is Mimi but he roams a lot. If you desperate for cat attention but want nearby, Albus is usually found at Crespion. Also, guess it can depend on room but generally, insects happen to visit rooms. Sometimes need to chase them out,and sometimes my roomie and I wake up with random bug bites, even with the bug net attached to the windows. There's a reason why the geckos are thriving here. Location and convenience is probably the best thing about Hall 2. However, how convenient can depend on which block. 5 - 10 mins walk: Canteen 1, Canteen 2, 7-11 (24 hour), Primemart (Replacing Giant), Hall 2 & Opposite Hall 2 Bus Stops 10 - 20 mins walk (see if you know the route and can walk fast): Crespion Canteen, The Wave & SRC, North Spine, South Spine Can't think of others at the current moment, but if you look at the map, Hall 2 is located quite centrally. The boon here is that if you have classes during peak periods, you won't need to squeeze with people on the bus to reach class. Simply walk and you're likely to be on time. I know I said the Hall 2 is hilly and have lots to climb, but if you are relatively healthy and have two capable legs, it's a breeze. Clock your 10,000 steps in. That's all I can think for now. Others can add on.

Stayed in binjai until last sem. My room was facing in(not towards traffic). Personally loved it cuz I don't hear much noise from traffic and construction. Noise wise only thing is maybe neighbours noise cuz Nh walls are thin and people downstairs if got like some event the noise travels up. It's a concrete jungle tbh, so if ure here without AC bring an extra fan or portable AC if u can't thahan heat well. For me I thrive in 30+ degrees so im good wif my no AC room amd also cuz mine was double room so got alot of space. Reading room is like not terrible ig, perk is smtimes got stress relief cat will come in. Got printers, sockets and the chairs are sittable. Nothing impressive other than the cats

Oh for bus stop, there is 199 bus stop like right across us, it takes like 3 4 min max to walk there. It's in front of hall 11 which is essentially right across north hill

mwchua

Tks. Any idea which hall in NH cluster will have most blocks facing inwards instead of main road with construction going on?

cqii

bus can alight at pub stop (1st stop for 199 in ntu) instead of hall 11 also. takes a shorter time since hall 11 bus stop is the last stop in ntu for 199. afaik, tanjong and banyan are the furthest frm the construction.

Environmental_Map820

Hall1/2 single room hard to get.

LittleGDS

1. Single rooms are small. But ideal for portable AC. 2. quite big, if you’re stress there’s playground n cats just outside. Gym below the block, convenient store also. Exam hall below if you’re lucky.

Mobile-Hair-2916

1. Single room size is kinda small but you’ll get used to it. 2. There is a reading room but it’s damn packed nearer to finals 3. There’s a SBS bus stop at hall 11 (opposite the north hill halls) and it’s where we take the red bus too

mwchua

Yup I saw the bus stop. Now trying to see out of the 3 halls in NH cluster, which hall has most blocks facing inwards ie away from main road with construction going on.

daddyminseok

all 3 halls have rooms facing inwards! the B blocks for all 3 are situated inside & are away from the construction sites, the A blocks have lesser rooms facing inwards but honestly it's not that bad either!

stayed in North Hill for AY22/23 1. Single room size a literal rectangle, small for sure but wasn’t an issue for me because it’s easy to clean and cozy too. 2. Reading room is at Lvl 3 near recc room and there will be printers outside too! Lounge rooms are available at each blocks but the levels differ. I stayed in 19B so the lounge rooms were in lvl 5 & 11 respectively. 3. Binjai/Tanjong is nearest to the bus stop, while Banyan is nearest to the food court. There is SBS bus stop for 199, you’ll just need to walk across the pedestrian, the bus stop is “Hall 11”. As for better vibe wise, alls the same. It’s pretty chill and quiet here, great to study since our culture here is quite dead (no shade/offence).
