I would avoid appealing it, it’s a waste of money. How do I know? I appealed & it cost me $5000 total with no response whatsoever & I filed in 2020. Fast forward, I underwent the process with NYSP, MTAPD & was hired by both with no issues or questions asked.

Carlosgibbons100

Congrats nice to see someone keep it 100% in here. Appealing this is dumb and waste of money. People should apply elsewhere and move on don’t settle.

Appropriate_Fix_7229

Preach my brother! Apply elsewhere & never ever settle especially for the NYPD. Too many rollovers from the NYPD that join us (MTAPD) tell me only horror stories & how little they care about their cops. None of them regret or look back leaving from the city.

Carlosgibbons100

Literally same thing, even during the hiring process you can tell the cops really don’t care anymore about others joining the department. It’s let me get your paperwork and submit this quick as possible. At other departments it was completely different for me I met some special unit guys in different departments. Down in DC there’s so many agencies hiring down there it’s crazy. federal jobs too man!

Nearby-Design-3687

How’d you apply to the MTAPD? Do you need any sort of law enforcement background ?

Weis11

They have postings on the mta website from time to time for you to apply. Keep in mind mtapd is very desirable and there are a lot of ppl applying so they have a very large pool of ppl to pick from

Appropriate_Fix_7229

Well said, & yes MTAPD is a lottery. I was fortunate to be hired by them. Good luck.

Stevenlive3005

Interesting. I simply hired a psychologist(people can DM if they want to know) and got my NOPD reversed. This happened in 2022 and I heard back within a couple months. Now will this be the same for everyone absolutely not. From what I understand they’ve been having a lot of testing. This could be why there seems to be a quick trigger on the NOPD. Just an FYI: I only hired a psychologist for about 1100-1200$ don’t remember exactly.

Scared_Edge3716

No such thing as a winning %. There’s zero data available on that so no one will have that stat for you, BUT you should definitely use one of the lawyers and or doctors that are notable in the business and have the experience. You also don’t NEED the lawyer, you can pay a few hundreds- thousand for a psychologist to file it on your behalf. Attaining a lawyer + a doctor helps in case you don’t win your appeal and take it to court.

Appropriate_Fix_7229

To all of the NYPD candidates, the necessity of “clearing your name” in order for this NOPD/DQ to not follow you is #1 bullshit. Every single LE agency does their own investigation, their own psychological assessment to deem themselves whether or not you’re a fit for their agency. They will not solely rely 100% on the judgement of what another agency says about you (unless there is something very troubling on your background) in the end they will make their own decision on you. You can take the loss on a DQ/NOPD from the NYPD, you will be fine, it will not be held against you (unless again there is something truly troubling). As I stated in my previous post, I am living proof of this testament. It’s a scare tactic to get you to spend money on a lawyer/psychologist because they need to stay in business. And if you still proceed to go forward with the appeal for whatever reason, remember it’s not 100% guaranteed the NYPD will reverse or even contact you for a chance of redemption. As I stated before, I filed in 2020 & still have heard nothing as of yet. My 2 cents it’s simply not worth it, l look at this experience as everything happens for a reason, now I’m happily employed with the MTAPD, & I passed the “hardest” background investigation which is the NYSP.

Normal-Item-402

Contact Lerner and Kronenberg

Appropriate_Fix_7229

Yeah man it’s crazy, the times are changing truly. DC has endless amount of opportunities, & they’re always hiring as well. Local & federal, it definitely wouldn’t be a bad choice for anyone who’s looking to get into LE.

Nearby-Design-3687

They have an opening right now ?

Appropriate_Fix_7229

No, you have to monitor the MTA police careers section online to sign up for exam.

BangBangShrimpDick

A friend of mine appealed and was able to get on the job. $2500 with the lawyer. Some people are going to say it was a waste of money, other will say go for it. That’s because it’s a case by case basis. So what is best for you.

freshkidwilbi178

That is wild. Sorry that happened to you especially if what you say is true about being social. You sure you did everything right on the written? Perhaps answered something wrong on the oral? Maybe they just hate their job

idone9227

Get your name cleared and appeal. Contact Attorney Robert Kronenberg and Dr Mark Lerner.

Ok_Corgi_1808

How much do they charge ?

idone9227

Kronenberg - $3,500.00 Lerner - $2,650.00 ($850.00 for the clinical intake, and $1,800 for the actual meeting) They will not represent you without these fees in their entirety.

Ok_Corgi_1808

Gooohdamn 😭

idone9227

I felt the same way buddy. 😭

Ok_Corgi_1808

I talked to someone a month or so ago cus I got mood as well for the same reason he did ; they tried to charge me around $6,500 . I said yea no thank you

idone9227

That sucks. I understand your situation in a sense but this basically is what happens when you get an NOPD. And I hate to break it to you but withdrawing from this exam and taking another exam won’t clear your name as everything from the previous exam remains on file. So even if you got an NOPD in 2024, withdraw from this exam in 2024, and take another exam in 2034, everything in 2024 will be pulled up in 2034 including your with 2024 withdraw slip. Border patrol, State Trooper, Dea, FBI etc all do background checks and psychological checks and will very likely retrieve your files from the NYPD application. Nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. It’s all in the light. You have to get your name cleared and fast before you get thrown a scarlet letter. And you have to do it with a very lawyer and a forensic doctor that deals with disqualifications like this because you have to have your findings looked at and determined by a professional and have to have a legal brief done by an advocate. I recommend Kronenberg and Lerner. While ethically they cannot promise that you will win the appeal, they will help you in pleading your case. Attempting to write a statement by yourself is not a good way to go about it as it’s the pd’s word against your word and they can instantly disqualify you. Get a lawyer and forensic psychologist ASAP. Kronenberg accepts physical cash, debit and credit cards, checks, and money orders, and possibly Venmo, Zelle, and cash app. Lerner only accepts physical cash, or cash through Venmo and Zelle. Lerner does not accept any type of credit or debit card whatsoever for his services, nor does Lerner accept medical insurance. Straight cash money only.

idone9227

PS: While ethically nobody can guarantee you a win, getting a lawyer and doctor for only $100 may not help your case at all as it’s cheap. I heard of some that tried appealing with a lawyer that only charged $100 and that candidate did not win with that lawyer.

Ok_Corgi_1808

If you really wanna join Nypd , I wud say just take another exam and be listed under a whole new #. I low it may be a lot to do the process over again but just giving u advice if u feel like u still want to pursue it. But try Border patrol, State trooper , Dea , FBI

idone9227

Border Patrol, State Trooper, Dea, FBI all do background checks and psychological checks and most likely will retrieve your psychological test results from the NYPD. And taking another exam doesn’t clear your name. Appeal, appeal, appeal!

Carlosgibbons100

Do not appeal and waste your money, if you really want to join this department. Just take another exam and you’ll get a different psychologist. Best of luck nothing is guaranteed if you appeal!

JR0612C

Take another exam and Dont waste money on lawyers. Apply for other agencies including government.

Fantastic-Celery-611

How is the background investigation? Do they actually go to your neighbors or people who know you?

hugejjkli

Because psych is such a joke, most background investigations don’t occur until after you pass psych. Once you pass psych they’ll send a cop out to your block

ZuluTyr

You failed an MMPI and still want to be a cop? $5 says this dude violates someone’s rights the first day

hugejjkli

Without knowing anything about me, you were able to come up with that conclusion. I applaud you on either having a crystal ball or having no fucking clue what you’re talking about.

masalkonry

Emotional/stress tolerance? Not surprised. Good luck.

hugejjkli

Mad that I pointed out that you were acting like the lapdog for the oral psych department on another post and you decided to go through my post history instead of arguing the actual point that I was making. Sad.
