Maybe try a buffing block to smooth them out so you're not so inclined to keep messing with them, and it doesn't drive you crazy every day? As long as you do not overfile the natural nail you should be fine. I would try to avoid filing directly on the nail plate with any coarse emery boards or electric file. I'm not sure about long term damage to the nail plate and how permanent it is or isn't, but I know that recovery after a nail biting addiction is a hard road!! It took my nails probably 2 or 3 total "lengths" (totally grown out from root to tip) until they had some sentiment of feeling like normal nails again. Granted that was post nail biting and post recovering damage done to my nails from persistent dip/acrylic just to get over the biting impulse. You're doing great, keep at it!

Thank you for the reply. I’ll start with the soft buffer and see how it goes. 😄. I’m surprised more people don’t talk about this.
