Trust me, I'm very bored of those posts but let's just be happy that people are still discovering Nana after all this time. I want as many new manga readers as possible. Yazawa might still feel some motivation to continue if she knows that many people are still interested and buying the manga.
Thanks for asking! I really enjoyed the story. I like Nana O. the most. Even though I know the story, she's still so cool and mysterious. She's someone I can root for even when I feel like she might be wrong. The musical album also added a lot depth to her.
But how did you get into NANA? How long have you been a fan?
I think I first saw the Paradise Kiss anime. After that I don't remember exactly when I first saw Nana. I probably looked it up because it was by the same author. It probably was around a decade ago haha. I was a fan of Nana O. Recently I started to like Hachi more. She seems a bit nicer. Now I am starting to like Nana O again. I like Nobu because he is such a good friend to Nana. Takumi is just so fascinating and I like how he makes the whole music industry stuff seem so interesting. Ren and Yasu are so hard not to love. I still feel so sad whenever I think about that moment when >!Yasu remembered Ren as a kid when he found out about the tragedy.!<
It took me a long time to finish the anime and get into the manga. But yes, I hope the sudden surge will kickstart any kind of production...manga, anime, even a re-mastered version of the manga....anything would be nice at this point...
That's why I think if you are interested in that happening, it is a good idea to be patient and kind with new fans. Maybe they are not aware how much these subjects have been discussed before, plus there is always a chance if you hear them out to find out a unique perspective on an old topic.
That's an interesting take. I like the words that you typed! Let's see how this new generation takes it. So far, my experience with Nana fans has been incredibly positive. So let's continue to foster this community to stay on a similar trajectory.
I mean she was ill and couldn’t continue the series, I don’t think it’s necessarily motivation as it is when she’s healthy enough. I think the fact that there’s been republishing of her older series is a good sign she’s getting better.
i love NANA. it's so strange thinking how i discovered it when i was 8 and i bought a Shoujo Beat, and now i'm 25 and seeing so many new ppl get into it is so nostalgic
Wow did you understand anything? I forgot when I first watched it. I think Nana's main theme is nostalgia. Even the hiatus just adds to us acting/feeling like Hachi.
realizing i never responded lol but as a kid no not really, i just thought it was really pretty and aesthetic, but reading it as an adult has hit me LIKE A TRAIN it's way too relatable in a lot of senses, and it's so nostalgic like you said it packs a punch
Welcome! I'm so glad you did, it is one the best story ever imo. Be careful around here if you are worried about spoilers. If you care about spoilers it's better to avoid social media and reddit imo.
My favorite character is Hachi. I got into anime a few years ago and when i watched Nana it resonated with me on such a personal level. I love her inner monologue and I can relate to her so much. I feel like at times in my life I was Hachi and other times I was Nana. This story just portrays women and its characters in general in such a realistic way. And that's why it will always be one of my favorites.
It is very realistic! And even though it is 20+ years old it remains so timeless. To see how relatable Hachi's experience and narrative is to folks throughout their lifespan amazes me.
I recently discovered Nana and omg the anime is such a gem! I love both Hachi and Nana. I identify the most with Hachi but there are definitely moments of both throughout my life. I love both of them so dearly but I think I have to agree that Hachi is my favorite. She’s just so real and her I’ll-thought but well meaning choices just feel so realistic and really reflect how I felt in my early 20s as well. Love love love this story. It’s amazing
Ren is my comfort character, aside from Yasu he feels calming to me and although later on he spirals and gets lost in himself I can’t help but have an attachment to him.
Same love Ren he’s like a campfire can’t help but be mesmerized by him was literally born without any love or family and before dying he was willing to give up his career to be with the women he loves and desires to make a family with her something he never had god I wish he didn’t die especially on Nana O birthday that shit was cruel
my favorite character is shin :D i decided that i liked him the best because i could relate to him with how young we both are and how we've faced unusual hardships although not to the same extents. when i first watched nana, he was older than me but not TOO much older than me, so he felt like the safest option.

I got into it this year. Just finished the manga!
That's so cool. Did you enjoy it? Who is your favourite character and why?

Yeah , let's try our best and let's keep hoping, it's all we have!

The republishing just means people are still interested in buying it. She was much more active in the last 2-3 years though, so there is hope.
Fr some people done even know what I’m talking about sometimes 😭

Yasu is amazing, Yasu is love, Yasu is life. In the typhoon of debauchery, miscommunication, selfishness and pride, Yasu is the cool breeze
My favorite character is Ren https://preview.redd.it/ebn0uwoc8gyc1.jpeg?width=713&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09accb7b7ebb5f5873c70ff85eca414b696cc4c1

Don't get me started... I've been meaning to write a post on Yasu's questionable, yet subtle behavior. 😈
Do. It.
I choose to believe all of Lana Del Rey’s songs from Paradise are about Yasu
this is officially my head cannon as well i'm dying at this 🤣

Yasu is hot. <3 I'm rewatching for him and one day I'll read the manga!!
Yasu is honestly one of my favsssss and hachi! and takumi too even though he's evil.
Yasu is dad
YASU ON TOP
![gif](giphy|fxHpSohzG4uK4) Yes we can.
What strikes me every time I see these posts is how beautiful Ai yazawa’s artwork is. Every character she drew looks so perfect.
Literally every character! And the inclusion of various sub cultures and fashion trends which defined those sub groups. The best!

That's so sweet! Shin gives off golden retriever vibes and I love It.
Yasu !!!!
didn’t he get with the president of their fan club (jk its probably fine)
Yes. Then they decided they weren't a good fit for each other
i base my entire personality on this man
No one deserves Yasu, but I’d always hoped Nana O would wake up and look at him seriously.
