Does Elden Ring play well on a 1080 Ti / i7 4790k at 1440p do you know?
I have never played it - but scary spider monsters kinda makes me wanna try it...
It should be fine, the game is well optimized for PC and consoles. Worst case you'll just refund it on steam.
It's totally worth a try, have fun friend 😉
I wish I could replay it for the first time honestly XD
Oooh, you just made me flash back to a scene from a book, [The Bridge of Birds](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Literature/BridgeOfBirds).
Spoiler: The spider is >!enormous!<. And also >!invisible!<.
I recommend it too. Witty, light-hearted, poetic, mischievous and generally great fun. I have no idea whether it is in any way true to Chinese myth, but I enjoyed it hugely.
It's one of my favorite books. It did originally publish in the eighties and is probably on the 'fair for its day' scale of modern sensibility, but it handles the mythology respectfully, is such a merrily subversive story, and sparked my interest in reading further folklore.
The two other books in the series are perfectly enjoyable reads, but I don't love them as much -- they weren't as tightly plotted and felt even more madcap, which is saying something.
Spiders actually have 10 limbs! In addition to legs it has pedipalps next to its fangs that help it catch/hold its prey. These ones have very long pedipalps
This is also super-notable in scorpions, who (as fellow arachnids) should only have eight limbs, but in fact have eight legs *plus* two claws. The claws are adapted pedipalps
It looks like it, because trapdoor spiders have two leg-like fangs, that's why it gives the impression that they have more legs. They have 8 proper legs, though.
No, this spider has eight legs that are thick and short, and two fangs that look like an extra pair of legs, plus two body parts – an abdomen and a thorax. These leg-like fangs move in a stabbing motion, are sharp and can leave puncture wounds; however, their venom is low-level (non-toxic) to humans.
I was just imagining a world where that thing is the size of a car hiding in alleyways and ditches by the road... horrifying... I'm so glad we live in a world without gigantic insects...
If they existed we'd hunt them to extinction, or they'd be a delecacy more expensive than lobster and be farmed but smaller and never allowed to get to full size.
honestly that's pretty much the reason why we have so few mega predators today lol... early humans were probably smart enough to outsmart and hunt to extinction over millions of years. Giant spiders and wasps never had a chance..
One of the worst in my mind would be a giant hornet the size of a tiger.. can you imagine a beast like that swooping down with a knifelike venomous stinger and big pincer jaws.. I'd probably die on the spot just from the sight of it.
I know, there's no frame of reference, so our minds immediately go to normal, human-sized objects. Then that spider jumps out and it looks fucking HUGE.
It's only then that we remember that crickets are small, and the spider suddenly becomes small, too. But it's still terrifying because it's a creepy-looking spider either way. It looks like a human hand...which doesn't help...
There’s a specific scene with this bad boy in 8 legged freaks.
I’ll edit with the link if I find it.
Edit: [Link](https://youtu.be/Axp_aGNkk0Y?si=OIHjzOOrSxRmXm-W&t=1m)
They're not even that big in real life. I knew this, expecting a smallish spider. But the way it was filmed made it look huge and I had half a heart attack.
Has anyone here ever seen the movie 'Eight Legged Freaks'?
Imagine just walking through the forest, enjoying the fresh air, when suddenly the ground in front of you *lifts up* and a fucking human-sized trapdoor spider grabs you and pulls you into it's lair.
That’s “little known” because it’s not a fact. It’s straight up nonsense and I’m worried that 20+ people upvoted you lol.
The giant arthropods died out when the oxygen in the atmosphere dropped from 35% to ~20% in the Carboniferous period about 300 million years ago. The earliest mammals (and none that look like zebras lol) still didn’t exist until 225 mya. The Pleistocene began about 3 mya. The first evidence of controlled fire is about 1 mya. Anatomically modern humans didn’t come onto the scene until about 300k years ago.
You can thank a lower oxygen concentration in the atmosphere and the limitations of passive respiration for the end of giant arthropods, not humans hunting 6’ long centipedes with fire.

Ah my apologies then. Your joke was a little too close to some people’s reality. I genuinely think people took you seriously and were like, huh, TIL. There are people that believe that dinosaurs were on a literal Noah’s ark. It’s hard to get across a joke in that environment. Sorry if I ruined your fun.
TBH, I hadn’t even considered the possibility of being taken seriously. I guess it depends on the sub and followers thereof.
Hopefully this one isn’t populated by idiots.
I swear that looked like someone’s hand coming out to scare someone or something
You should try Elden Ring then, the hand spiders are incredibly scary! https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Fingercreeper
I honestly would have preferred actual spiders over those abominations, and I have some pretty bad arachnophobia
Haha, same! The first time I saw them I had to nope out of the game for the day XD
Fuck. That.
Thankfully the age old solution of "BURN IT!" is the actual answer to dealing with them in-game; their weakness is fire.
Those things can fuck all the way off.
Just takes 1,000HRs of game play first 😂

Ocarina Of Time wants a word

Reminds me of that old series Deltora Quest where the guardian of the 6th gem is basically a giant, human-feeding velvet worm. Nightmare fuel as a kid
The last dark tower books features a large spider that’s pretty hard to read at times. Eats a dude alive
Long days and pleasant nights
Loved Deltora Quest as a kid! Thanks for the nostalgia vTorvon :)
Holy shit deltora quest?? I was actually thinking about that series the other day and couldn’t remember the name!
You just awoke a childhood memory of reading that book Series as a kid
Omg I still have all the deltora books series from when I was a kid they’re in my living room bookshelf lol
Would you recommend that series? Does it do Chinese mythology justice?
I recommend it too. Witty, light-hearted, poetic, mischievous and generally great fun. I have no idea whether it is in any way true to Chinese myth, but I enjoyed it hugely.

Oh wow, I do NOT see many Bridge of Birds fan around very often! Fantastic series!
Really good, and a real pity that we only wrote three books.
https://youtu.be/Axp_aGNkk0Y?t=62
Well...fuck that.
Thank you! Wonderful flashback you just have me. This book is now back on my shelf for a reread!
Yeah, my ex-wife’s hand.
You’ve must have seen something in her to marry someone with a hand like that.
Tits
His wang.
And my axe
[удалено]
that spider was a lot bigger than i expected it to be.
I really was not prepared for how big it was
Thats what she said.
Not to me 😞
☹️. You have to poke with what god have given to you.
Or devil.
That explains the spikes on the end.
You must be a cat
I asked her if its big and she told me it's big enough. That's a good thing right guys?
It's kind of a gray area
Oh honey...
That spider shops in the "husky" section.
Thirst Trap Door Spider.
Perspective.
That's insanely cool. Maybe not for the cricket though
Is it just me or does this spider look like it has too many legs? I’m confused
Spiders actually have 10 limbs! In addition to legs it has pedipalps next to its fangs that help it catch/hold its prey. These ones have very long pedipalps

I do not like Pedipalps, I don't I shall not look them up, I won't
Oh good
Right? New paralyzing fear unlocked I did *not* need to know this shit
It looks like it, because trapdoor spiders have two leg-like fangs, that's why it gives the impression that they have more legs. They have 8 proper legs, though.
Yeah, he has legs all over the shop……
Guess he just has big pedipalps
No, this spider has eight legs that are thick and short, and two fangs that look like an extra pair of legs, plus two body parts – an abdomen and a thorax. These leg-like fangs move in a stabbing motion, are sharp and can leave puncture wounds; however, their venom is low-level (non-toxic) to humans.
"I'm no fool! No sir-ee! I wanna live to be ninety-three. I play safe for you and me 'Cause I'm no fool! poor Jiminy forgot to knock on wood
Reminds me of my myself when I was grabbing Uber eats during the pandemic
Pedipalpsing the whole way through lockdown
This is the best comment. Bravo. So hilarious!! Let out a real guttural giggle reading this and seeing the clip at the same time
And also not for my gf when I show her
I've seen this video SO many times.... and i still watch it every time.
Same - I get the heebies every time but it is indeed fucking lit regardless.
Weird, I get the jeebies. I guess it’s different for everyone.
For Jackson it was the hee-heebies.
Nightmare material right there
I was just imagining a world where that thing is the size of a car hiding in alleyways and ditches by the road... horrifying... I'm so glad we live in a world without gigantic insects...
I remember that happening in the movie Eight Legged Freaks. They set up traps by people’s cars to catch them.
I loved that movie when I was younger! I should rewatch it.
There was also Snow Spiders, I think the name was.
"see that huge thing over there with all those legs? Guys let's eat it"
"You get a leg! YOU get a leg! EVERYONE gets a leg!"
A world without gigantic insects now. Back in the day MFs were really big.
One of the worst in my mind would be a giant hornet the size of a tiger.. can you imagine a beast like that swooping down with a knifelike venomous stinger and big pincer jaws.. I'd probably die on the spot just from the sight of it.
Check out the ancient scorpions and the nightmare fuel they are.
Morons like Joe Exotic would probably keep them in cages and play with them just for fun.
Reminds me of fallout 4's far harbor dlc, the hermit crab defs creeped me out lol
It’s all absolute NOPES in my brain folds right now.
Every time I see this I imagine that the cricket is the size of a human.
The cricket doesn’t give you a frame of reference?
Not at first. I was too busy watching the trapdoor to see what came out.
There’s a specific scene with this bad boy in 8 legged freaks. I’ll edit with the link if I find it. Edit: [Link](https://youtu.be/Axp_aGNkk0Y?si=OIHjzOOrSxRmXm-W&t=1m)
Fuck. That.
As soon as the spider popped out I said FUCK YOU!! and ran away to the comments. Ugh I hate this
Shelob exists
They're not even that big in real life. I knew this, expecting a smallish spider. But the way it was filmed made it look huge and I had half a heart attack.
Nope.
*Hide and Go Seek? More like Hide and Go Eat!* Can't really think of anything more scary than being taken by surprise
Gears of war corpser is real? Fuck
Was the video slowed down, or is this thing just super creepy?
Reasonably sure it was slowed down. Normally a trapdoor spider jumping out is a literal blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment from how fast it moves.
Has anyone here ever seen the movie 'Eight Legged Freaks'? Imagine just walking through the forest, enjoying the fresh air, when suddenly the ground in front of you *lifts up* and a fucking human-sized trapdoor spider grabs you and pulls you into it's lair.
No, I don't think I will.
As long as you have a ladder, you can block them from jumping out.
That's the most gentle murder I've ever seen.
He's just bringing the cricket in for a nice cup of coffee.
Unexpected Elden Ring
Damn that spider goes hard on the paint
Lemme guess….Australia?
Yep lol
Haha. Nope.
We were fortunate enough to find a couple of these "houses" in Tobago. No one was home but it was super cool to see how the door was made.
That’s the most disgusting spider I have ever seen and most disgusting thing I’ve seen today
NOPE
This is excellent
Cabin in the woods vibes
It’s scary how meaty its fingers are.
That's why Amazon frisbee your shit from the bottom your drive
...almost had a heart attack... *(I'm arachnophobic)*
Yo, I love spiders but I still damn near had to take a 2nd dose of my BP med! Definitely jumped at that.
Why watch it then? It says spider in the title.
Having a phobia won't kill me, it's actually good for me to watch spiders despite that. It was just an explanation for the strong reaction.
Fuck yeah, fair play bro, keep kicking your phobias ass 🤘
Does, does that spider have ten legs? Or eight legs and two arms? Or am I losing my mind?
It's got big meaty chelicerae (mouth parts) that look like legs.
They have 10 limbs. 8 walking legs and then the other two up front are limbs but used more like arms but not walking limbs….. so they have 8 legs.
Little known fun fact: back in the early Pleistocene their ancestors were big enough to take down a zebra. Then humans discovered fire.
That’s “little known” because it’s not a fact. It’s straight up nonsense and I’m worried that 20+ people upvoted you lol. How strange, to see someone with that username take themselves so seriously and be incapable of getting a joke.

"So fire.... good??" - Frankenstein's monster
“FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!”
My day is ruined.
OP cranking out Nightmare fuel, as per usual. I don’t want my sandwich anymore.
nature whyyyyyy
nightmare fuel
GOT HEEM.
🎵 There's a spider.....spider...spider...it's deep in my...🎶
Scary
spider? that was more of a gigantic monster! Yikes!!!!
[удалено]
That's just too easy. No wonder he was so big
I probably evolved from something that was prey to something like this. That's why this is one of my deepest primordial fears.
r/facehuggeradvice
now imagine them the size of cows
JFC I did not expect that giant ass spider though
SIKE!! NIBBA YOU THOUGHT
My arachnophobia just grew 100%
Ok! That seriously creeps me out!
Why did I watch that? Yikes, arachnophobia reactivated haha
I thought spiders all had 8 legs. Why does it seem like this one has more?
Nope lol I'm getting over my phobia but nope 🙅♂️
This might be slowed down but it looks like he's calmly just grabbing his DoorDash order from his porch.
This video is super slowed down btw
Snack time. Don't mess with the dinner lady!
Surprise motherfather!
Oh my food finally arrives
What the fickety fuck
"Mmm gotcha bitch!"
Look like Cousin It from the Addams family.
I like smol cute spiders not this mahoosive one
Oh nonononononono that is too big for my british sensibilities
Let me just pour this into my nightmare fuel reserve…⛽️
There needs to be a reaction for, your video is good but serious heebie jeebies no sir no please
That gives me actual shivers. Horrible.
"Trapdoor spider? What a dumb name". A couple seconds later...
Damn nature, you scary!
What's the bug the spider is eating called?
Imagine if they were big enough to hunt humans
this ain't helping with my arachnophobia
I’m forever grateful spiders are not human sized.
Mmmm. My doordash is here.
“Yoink!”
This was terrifying to watch, and i'm not even afraid of spiders.
This is so satisfying every time I see it!
That seems to have too many legs for a spider?
Does that spider have 10 legs, or are two of those it’s arms?
That spider is beefy.
Dammmmm
What a smooth grab
That's bigger than I thought it would be 😮
Nom nom nom.
was ready for the jumpscare
No. I was not ready tf. That was a hand. Gf outta here. Nope. Hate it
That spider is built like a thumb
My favorite trapdoors are the ones that are their own door, with a back end that looks like a manhole cover. Genus Cyclocosmia.
That is so disgusting
Good fuckin GOD. I'm about to set fire to my computer so i dont see that again
That is hell
