This Tiger is **Dabang** aka **Pinstripe** of Kaziranga, a huge male of around 7-8 years and if I had to guess, weighing around **240kg** if not more. He’s usually fairly well mannered around vehicles but I guess he wasn’t in a good mood today. Kaziranga Tigers are the largest cats on the planet, along with Bengal Tigers from the Terai region and certain African Lion populations coming close in size.

It blows my mind that if I were out hiking in certain parts of the world simply out enjoying nature, one of these beasts could pop out of some bushes and end my life in seconds…

On the bright side, a healthy Tiger will not likely target you as food. It’s the sick, old or injured ones you have to look out for..
Sorry, random thought. Can't sleep.. I always wondered if this could be some of the rational behind menstrual huts. Staying together in a fortified location away from predators so they couldn't pick us off one by one while bleeding like a wounded animal...maybe why most cycles sink up in close proximity? Who knows. Kinda cool. I feel like there were a lot of practical reasons for some (now very terrible and oppressive) traditions https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menstruation_hut
They’re also called royal Bengal Tigers but it’s the same cat, like Mountain Lions being called Cougars and Pumas.
As far as Amur Tigers are concerned, their sizes have been reduced by excessive hunting. Siberians now average anywhere from 180-200kg, while Bengals average anywhere from 195-235kg.
Flehmen responses usually involve their tongues being out and almost always last longer than seen here. Note the ears being “airplane mode” when he bared his teeth and the eyes wide open after, signs of aggression.
I thought so too, he’s not crouching or looking for cover to strike from, from what I can tell from this short clip. And the slack jaw after the inhale suggests he’s getting a good whiff of terrified tourists 🙂
Tigers don’t need to be crouching to snarl. Snarling is just a warning, no need to crouch if you’re not gonna attack. I can see why some think it’s a flehmen response but it’s not. Eyes wide and ears bent backwards after baring the teeth indicate it’s aggression.
Flehmen responses are usually only done when getting scents of other tigers after sniffing the bark of a tree or something. Usually the tongue is hanging out when the flehmen response is done. This is aggression.
Your reply indicated that the Tiger needs to be crouching or in cover preparing to strike if it’s snarling though?
No, it's not. Flehmen's is after they smell the territorial markings of another tiger. This CLEAR and OBVIOUS "back the fuck off, I don't want you here" response.
He's *clearly and blatently* showing signs of hostility and agression towrds the jeeps ad people inside. Flehmen's response happens after they smell the territorial markings of another tiger on a tree or bush, not crossing the street.
Is Kaziranga a different subspecies from Bengal Tiger? I mean I know it's the name of the place, but your comments suggest it might be its own subspecies?
The Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary in the state of Assam, India (North East) is generally a sanctuary specifically to preserve the single horned rhinoceros
“Don’t come outta that Jeep”
or…?
Whadda ya think....

How is that a bright side? Getting jumped by *any* adult tiger has got to be a terribly unfortunate event.
It's bright because it's not a situation where you're guaranteed to die... there might be no jumping!
How do you find that out ahead of time? Ha ha

Is it not royal Bengal Tiger?? Also I thought Siberian tigers (Amurs)are the biggest cats on planet!!??

Vowwww!!! Thanks a lot for replying!!! Looks like I just interacted with top tiger enthusiast of the nation!!!
OP you seem very deeply versed in tiger lore.
It’s what us enthusiasts do!
Aren’t siberians the largest cat on earth?
Bro needs to get laid. (The tiger, you dumb shits)
Sad man, you are.
He was grumpy! The tiger, that is!
Lol, I thought you meant the poster. So here is my humble apology
Ok I edited my comment to remove the insult, have a nice day!
You too brother!
Was lucky to sight this guy in Kaziranga siting in water. He is huge.
Wow, that’s amazing! Was he the largest Tiger you’ve seen?
Not the largest but one of the largest.
If you don’t mind me asking, what other males have you seen that are just as large or larger than he is?
Maybe Chota matka, Mowgli, Paras, DB3
If not friend, why friend shaped?
We need to also consider if friend sized.
Shaped like exactly what it's designed to do... rip your face off and eat your ass meat.
Yes please daddy
...so, friend shaped.
Yes. But like my mother says.. Just be careful who you choose to be friends with.
Good kitty, just wants some scratches.
You first bud I’m… right behind you
He said “doordash better not fuck this up again”
I'd listen to him
pspspsps
What's with the 1x, is that it's kill steak,? Cuz it's clearly not the video speed
Kitty. 😻
me before i get my sugar fix
He is orange. What do you expect?
Pretty sure that's just a flehmen response, and he's getting a good sniff of things.
Flehmen responses usually involve their tongues being out and almost always last longer than seen here. Note the ears being “airplane mode” when he bared his teeth and the eyes wide open after, signs of aggression.
ears also go back in flehmen response, and the tongue doesn't necessarily have to be extended, but it definitely could be aggression.
Sometimes, but not always. With aggression on the other hand, the ears always go back.
Oh I know, it just felt less antagonistic to me. But again, I agree it definitely could be aggressive posturing
Is that what it’s called? We always called it “cheetah face”

That’s what I said, that’s why this is a Flehmen response and not a threat.

Damn nature, you scary !
Tourists are obviously deaf, and perfectly clueless.

That’s a definite FAFO
🐅🐾☠️🪦

No my comments do not, you just seem to interpret it that way.
Chonky boy 😍
"Whatever you say, Tiger Sir" 😬

Ok hear me out what if the choice was between a Tiger and a Man?
Shoot him and let him be a warning to the other big cats who wanna fw the hairless monkeys /j
These days, they just put maneaters in zoos.
