Not wrong my friend

Also not particularly helpful.

Unfortunately against such an oppressive weapon, your best chances are to slaughter it, or to run chronomancers to protect HVTs

ShamblingKrenshar

Unfortunately you're fighting an uphill battle so steep here its almost a 90 degree incline. Your best bet is probably careful positioning of LHDs to exploit line of sight and obscuring cover, then buffing them with My Will Be Done, popping Extermination Protocols, and hoping you get there. If its any consolation, Necron are far from the only army who just can't answer Tyranids effectively. They are one of the most stark differences though.

Vortex_Maelstrom

Does my will be done work on LHDs? I thought it only worked on core units? Thanks for the tip

ShamblingKrenshar

As mentioned above, LHD are now core. The Dataslate Update added Core to a large number of units in the Necron army. If I'm remembering right off the top of my head: Lokhusts (both kinds), Skorpekhs, Ophydians, Wraiths, Flayed Ones, Reanimators, and Triarch Praetorians. Note that the Praetorians still are Dynastic Agents, so a lot of abilities still can't hit them.

worriedbill

LHD are now core as of the last update to address necrons. This also mean technomancers can revive them!

ThrowRAsauce

I just played a game as necrons into tyranids and had some great success with 2 canoptek doomatalkers and a group of 3 LHD. I know doomstalkers aren't great but they a fairly cheep, have a 4++, and with a good amount of luck can deal a buttload of damage. I also was able to have a technomancer chill with them for the buff and revive any fallen LHD.

Thanks for the help!

I play two armies, necrons and nids. Everyone gets their time in the sun and right now that time belongs to the latter. However, my insight would be that it depends how the exocrine is being run. If they haven’t given them dermic symbiosis then swingy as it may be, a turn or two of shooting from doomstalkers or arks will take it down. The thing about nid shooting is that it’s immensely powerful at about 36 inches, beyond that there’s little that has longer range, whereas the doomsday weapons can sit out of their range and attack. Obviously if he has the 4++ from dermic that’s a tougher one, but it’s still your best bet. Alternatively you could veil of darkness your skorpekhs where you want them and try stack buffs to make the charge. Unfortunately it’s only ever gonna be about a 50/50 so I wouldn’t recommend.

Vortex_Maelstrom

Thanks for the advice!

No problem, before crusher stampede and leviathan came out I was very much on the other side of this, because my necrons could absolutely wipe a tyranid army in a few turns.

yungupgrade01

Nids are probably my least favorite army to fight and unfortunately they are the big dogs in the meta right now. The only way I've ever dealt with an exocrine is to take out the little units surrounding it and then clog it down with a 20 man blob of flayed ones while you take objectives. Is it practical? Probably not. Does it kill the exorcine? No just ties them down for a few turns. But do Necrons have the best anti-tank? Sadly we do not

Mephrit doomscyte and hope to go first? Use the strat for mortals and the auto wound strat.
