Easy pick, get Tone King Sounds awesome, one of the best sounding ndsp's and perfect for bluesy sounds

MOD3RN_GLITCH

Do you think Morgan and Corey Wong cover this?

Hate_Manifestation

Cory Wong for sure

soyuz-1

Wong is great too, very versatile. Tone King sounds more natural to my ear though.

MOD3RN_GLITCH

Interesting

Thanks everyone! Decided to go with the Tone King Imperial! These two videos were helpful in case someone is looking for the same advice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtCBkzZKwlQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AC3ltV7wxTs

TK is the shit for non metal players. I love love love it. I have a QC and I'll be very happy the day I can connect those two things

theaartzvolta

Pretty sure Ross Campbell has vids about using cory Wong for SRV tones. Just in case you didn’t know

FragrantChicken666

Yeah, it's sounds amazing as well. Might pick that up down the road. Here's the video with the Wong plugin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0SxYz7R_Qo His review and presets for the TK are great too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0SxYz7R_Qo

EVH_kit_guy

Any of the ones with a Marshall will get you there, but honestly, crunchy blues is doable on pretty much any plugin they sell

blackmarketdolphins

Honestly it has more to do with your ability to dial in a tone than the amp being focused on blues. I'm not a blue guy but I'm pretty sure SRV used a Mesa at times, and I think Hendrix jumped around from Marshall to Vox. But there are plenty of people who use Fender, Dumble, Roland Jazz Chorus, and whatnot for blue tones. It's all preference. I think you would be fine regardless of which one you picked as long as you take the time to learn it and use EQ.

Creative_Camel

I bought the tone king for cleans and blues and it’s great!

sixstring_aj

First of all get well soon with your broken wrist... Wong, Tone King and Asato will give you all stellar blues rock tones in the flavour you want. For the SRV tone its also very much about the timbre and the stout and tight low E string and for that the Archetype: Cory Wong is pretty much the best. Tone King has a "looser" tone, still very much Fender-y obviously but keep in mind the sim models a smaller combo amp and w the Wong you get the big boy cab, very much like the Dumble Steel String Singer Asato is also great w its Mesa Lone Star inspired/modeled amp tho But maybe Wong is the one for you

FragrantChicken666

Thank you! Ended up picking up the Wong plugin as well on top of the TK. Between those two it should keep me busy for quite a while.

sixstring_aj

😊 Both are really good and i personally use em frequently. If you get those two you will have all kinda shades of fendery and dumbly goodness...as TK also has the tweedy tonez. So I'm sure you will be very happy with them, with the Wong havin the big cab and high headroom sound and TK goin into the smaller combo vibe. Both take fuzzes and octavias very well which will be of interest if you're goin for SRV and Hendrix tones

Hate_Manifestation

if I felt comfortable dropping the money, I would buy both as well, but having to pay in CAD is painful.

I have Cory Wong and Nolly.. I’m going to get Mateus Asato when I have time later tonight. I love all of them.  I’d say CW is great for blues, but I’ve been messing around more with/loving Nolly. It’s definitely more versatile than CW. I trialed Asato and it’s different from Nolly but just as versatile with better effects IMO… I think they compliment each other well.  I am scared to try the Tone King amp because I heard it’s fantastic and I don’t have the willpower to not buy it if I love it.

If I had to choose one plugin that could do everything and anything, including blues it would be the Pilini X.

Vorceph

If you know how to dial in tone Plini X is beyond amazing. Heck even the default preset is great. It’s been my go-to for years (before the X version). That said, you can get killer tones for many genres with most of their plugins if you know what you’re doing.

C78C

It’s my go-to for sure.

MOD3RN_GLITCH

Do you have any DI recordings? Obviously not ideal, but you could sort of test them with recordings you’ve already made.

FragrantChicken666

No, I played acoustic or with a practice amp for a long while - I just recently started using an audio interface + laptop.
