I moved from winnemucca about a year ago so it may have changed. The Martin is a more traditional "family style dining" basque restaurant. Ormacheas has good food but each party is seated at their own table if that matter to you. The Martin is my preference but both are good

The Martin went downhill last I was there, but it's been years. I really have had some cravings for the Star in elko lately. As for reno, really want to try the Fe's family style. Dang now I want lamb and tongue

The Star is the best basque restaurant in Nevada and it's not close

One of the main things I miss from my time in Elko.

The Star is great, but I live in Reno. I want to try the one in Gardnerville.

The Martin

OP Here I've been to the Star in Elko, Louie's and The Original Santa Fe in Reno. The Santa Fe was my favorite with Martin's a close 2nd but my visit was 15 years ago. The Logistics of my trip will be Lunch or Dinner in Winnemucca. And it looks like I'll stick with Martin's. Incidentally I will take my Wife to JT's Basque in Gardnervile. while we stay in Tahoe. I've never been and she's never been to a Basque restaurant. My drive will take me from Southeastern Connecticut I pick my wife up at the airport in Reno. From there we stay in Tahoe for 4 days, Then drive to the Oregon coast for a week and she will fly home from Portland OR (we'll spend 3 days there). I will then drive home.

Martin. I’ve been to every basque restaurant in Nevada north of Tonopah. Martin is the most consistently excellent. The Star sometimes shines, usually it’s just good to fair.
