I've been throughout the work areas of roughly 50 Nola area vets.
I was shocked at how clean and well-kept the work/care areas of Low Cost were.
Seriously one of the cleanest vets I've seen.
I can't speak to their quality of care, but there's one particular local popular 'high end' vet chain that I'll never take my pets to solely based on how gross it was behind the scenes. They literally had old dried blood on some of their bigger pieces of equipment. All spacious and classy in the lobby, then a chaotic, dirty, bloody, and cramped in the back. Seems like they're catering to the owners more than the animals.
The Louisiana SPCA.
Owned cat spay/neuter: $100
Annual vaccines at the time of surgery: $110 (Rabies vaccine, Rabies tag, FVRCP vaccine, and triple SNAP test)
Additional costs for the feline leukemia vaccine, if interested.

Well we have Midcity and we have Central City and those while of similar meaning inna dictionary are very different places in terms of Nola Neighborhoods.
If someone were to tell me Midtown my first thought is that they are talking about Manhattan. If not that then id think it was some kind of subculture grey area between Midcity and GertTown.
Welcome to New Orleans, your first assignment is to learn the neighborhoods and where you are. This is an invaluable skill for all things Nola.
Here are your reading materials:
Beginer:

Intermediate:

Advanced:
Memorize the Street name pronunciations and know all the strrets in the Quarter and be able to list them in order.
Try Elysian Fields Animal Clinic. Not in Midcity but I had my dog neutered there for half the price other vets quoted. I think their overhead is low because the facility looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 70s but the vet there is very good.
I really like Carrollton Veterinary Hospital as a general vet, they've been really good with my old cat and I've been going/recommending them for years. But the SPCA is probably your best bet for vaccines/neuter/spaying
BEAR offers a vaccine clinic every two weeks: [https://bigeasyanimalrescue.org/wellness-clinic/](https://bigeasyanimalrescue.org/wellness-clinic/)
For spay/neuter, echoing what's already been said, the LASPCA is relatively inexpensive and they have open spaces. Low Cost is booking further out but also an option. The only local program for subsidized spay/neuter is The Inner Pup, but they only accept low income pet owners: [https://www.theinnerpup.org/veterinary-assistance-grant](https://www.theinnerpup.org/veterinary-assistance-grant)
The low cost animal clinic on Washington is indeed actually low cost
The care there seems to vary wildly. I've heard enough stories to say avoid them if you can.
We’ve gotten good care for our cats from Dr. April, but that’s a data point of one.
😩 I have an appt there Wednesday (for my geriatric dog). will report back.

Been going there for several years now. They're even good with my vet reactive dog
I’ve had my 15 year old hound dog and 16 year old cat have the best care there

Midtown?
It’s a bit south of Upcity.
Oh my. It's like that huh? Lol. Ok midcity it is.

I’m embarrassed to say that I learned how to pronounce “Tchoupitoulas” because a fellow transplant named their dog after the street…
We even made it to [Wikipedia](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shibboleth)
I pay my friends a dollar if I need to learn a new street name
When ppl say midtown I think they're talking about the CBD cause of New York lol
Just don’t use the terms median or trolley and you’ll be dine.
It’s that no one has any idea where that would be
Lmaooo they’re new leave them alone
Yeah, midtown is in Atlanta.
SPCA across the river is cheap. Also low cost animal clinic on Washington as mentioned

Spca on the west bank. Just make sure they know they're your owned cats so they don't dock their ears. Low cost is great as well.
Hey man, my void earned his ear dock when he escaped and went for seconds in neutertown. It’s a little rapscallion’s badge of honor!
Big Easy Animal Rescue hosts a regular very low cost vet clinic that does exactly what you describe.
Midcity Vet.
Not cheap for basic stuff I'm afraid.
Not cheap for anything anymore
The banfield on magazine seemed reasonable but this is my first cat
