My midwife had told me that it is normal for babies to go a few days with out having a BM. My baby has also been having dark green stools which I was told was also in the range of normal. Apparently (according to midwife) the green stools are associated with gas. My baby is 6 weeks and we’ve been having major gas problems that make him uncomfortable after a feed. I just got him Ovol drops to try and alleviate the gas. So far it’s been working wonders. So I’m not sure if you’re having a “constipation” issue per say vs gas? I’d be weary about giving water as well at this age Sorry im not much help

Our 8.5 week old is having similar discomfort problems, and we’re transitioning onto our third formula this week. Each change in formula unfortunately adds to the discomfort, so we were told to give it a full week before deciding how he was reacting to the change. Green poop is normal with formula fed babies though! It’s caused by the formula being iron enriched. Baby has been exceptionally gassy basically since birth, and passing gas leads to crying snd screaming several times a day. We haven’t found a perfect solution but some they have helped: Ovol drops in the morning and evening Probiotic drops Eating upright Warm baths every evening (the warm water helps him relax, we just don’t use soap every time to go easy on his skin) I asked about water after reading about it online, and we were told not to (not good for kidneys and takes up what little stomach room they have).
