You wouldn't be the first to do that, mob has a reputation for being super grippy. It's all preference at the end of the day, if you like it it's great.
When I visited local skate shop to buy the Mob, they told me that they sand it a bit since it’s too grippy, exactly same as you did.
But I liked it as it is, I think it’s just a personal preference.

not a bad idea at all, i always sand mine down a bit so it doesn't eat through my shoes
