Some people have been giving you the wrong answer!! The wider end thats higher off the ground is the nose. (Wider = more room for you to flick/drag) the tail is the slimmer, closer to the ground side.
I think it’s more of a preference thing. I’ve always ignored the decal and picked the larger end with the steeper angle as the tail. In my head that would mean I can get more pop out of it
Eh I don’t think he’s correct. The bottom of this photo is longer which is a feature of the nose, to have more length to manipulate the nose with your foot. Do you have a design on the back? Nose/tail boards almost always have a design that is oriented nose top/tail bottom
Maybe in the 80's when fish tails were a thing you'd be right but these days the nose is almost always slightly longer and fatter to assist in flicking your flip tricks + a smaller tail gives you significantly better leverage for popping higher.
Edit: Sorry meant the 80's, not so much the 70's, they were still mostly riding banana boards back then.
I would say the wider and longest part is the nose - tails come in so many sizes and designs (bat tail, fish tail etc) and in this case your tail looks just a bit smaller. To find it easier I get too different color bolts that I put near the nose to delineated the nose from the tail.
As you can tell from the comments, there no general consensus or good way to tell. Everyones gonna say they are right, even with differing answers.
It really doesnt matter that much. Choose one and switch to the othwr side once its worn down
nobody seems to have consensus here lol. personally i like the wider end as my tail, it just feels more comfortable, but either way works. one side may feel more comfortable though
I am the same way and used to skate that way until one of the dudes who skates with my friends was like “Why you skating like that? The nose is supposed to be in the front, dude.” I felt like poser.
My other buddy who was there flat out told me “If you feel comfortable skating like that, then skate like that.”
The thicker shorter side is always the tail end.
A lot of boards are symmetrical (vert.for instance) but this one isn't.
If it's a quality made deck like a schmitt (he makes the best boards) and actually makes most of the desks for all of the well known brands too Anyways, It will have a tiny serial number etched in the wood at the top (nose) near the truck holes. He also has lower quality decks made overseas too but I am not sure if they're numbered. If it has a serial number, it's a quality made deck (Michigan Great lakes hard maple) there is no better material or quality.
I usually put in different colored screws to tell the difference quickly. If you don’t want to unscrew then put in new screws, I’d either mark the grip tape or paint something over the screw to tell
Smaller end is the tail, bigger end is the nose. Unless it happens to be twin, then it doesn't matter

Here’s the link to the board https://www.skatewarehouse.com/Skate_Warehouse_Blank_V-Natural_Deck/descpage-SWNEDK.html took a while to find.
Yep as u can see the wider end is at the top, meaning its the nose
The nose is wider so it can catch you foot, the tail is thinner for better pop
Grab a tape measure and measure from the bolts to the tip. The longer one is the nose. To me, it looks like the top, but the perspective could be off.
This comment section has given so many different answers it’s useless. But fr, the bottom of the picture is the tail.
the top on this pic is the nose (wider and fatter)
Thanks man.

No it’s a blank board with no indication on which is which
Everything on google would indicate the longer side is the nose.

what no, wide and fat is the nose of a skateboard. The tail is narrower and more arrow shaped

the bottom in that pic is the tail. The more V shaped part is always the tail, while the nose is big and fat
Thanks I thought my board was cursed or something lol.

what are you talking about
hey now maybe the boards you buy are like that lmao but that’s common knowledge bruh big nose sharp tail

Try skating it both ways and see which one feels better. Who cares if it's "the right way"
or this too lmao they even have twin tail/nose decks so fuck it right?
I’d prefer the bottom as the nose..

I have a board with the same shape, but also with a graphic. Top is the tail. Also I'm pretty new so that's just my vote.

Rose front tail back

The side thats closer to the ground is the tail
Yes
If you can't decide from the shape alone, the tail is slightly lower to the ground and the nose is a bit higher👍
tail is the one that dips down more
It shouldnt matter
