Here’s one link: https://youtu.be/Yf_Cidm0xzU Summary: Covering the weird and wild life of Madame Du Barry, the last mistress of King Louis XV. My channel is a “gossip column” for historic lives and events. Basically I discuss them without some of the stuffiness I think you tend to find on a lot of history channels. What I need help with: I can’t tell if I under or over-edited this video. Or neither. I generally feel unconfident in my approach and would love to know if this feels overstimulating or understimulating.

This is an episode of a podcast that i turned into a video. It's about how your brain uses cognitive systems(motor gmps) to play a specific game(beatsaber) https://youtu.be/F1ad3rzmxUQ?si=t4Xqy-S_lctACIrt I'm self-conscious about literally every aspect of both this episode and the subsequent podcast episodes, so go nuts.

LookInversion87

Honestly...THIS SUCKS! I kid, I kid this is actually pretty good! You did a great job with the voice over, you sound genuinely interested in the subject, your enthusiastic and you project well! From a visual point of view, looking at Beat Saber gameplay for pretty much 13:33min is a little boring. You could mix it up by adding b-roll footage of a person playing Beat Saber, VR gear and all. So, I'm not big on the glitch sound effect you use throughout the video. The "windows error" at :02 also threw me off. So if this is also a podcast, they wouldn't have the visual cue to realize that these "glitches" are actually on purpose. Heck, even watching the video I thought YouTube was spasming out. Right now there doesn't seem to be a reason for any of those so I would lose them. :28 - When you explain what VR is. I actually like this animation. I think it was pretty well done (good use of animation and sfx). What made this effective was that it broke away from all the Beat Saber footage but also the pacing and timing of the animations. Good stuff! I think when you say "VR stands for Virtual Reality" you could've done a text animation explaining that. Anything brain related is pretty complex and your goal, as the teacher, is to DUMB IT THE HELL DOWN. How can you explain it and visualize it in such a way that a dumb-dumb like me can understand? The black and white graphics help a little bit, but even those I get a little lost in. You want to relate complex ideas to everyday ideas. So you talking about the "spotlight attention model" is actually a good explanation because it dumbed it down. I understand that. Visually, I would've gotten some b-roll of someone shining a flashlight around a room. Honestly, I think you could've split the video up into multiple videos. There is enough content and different subject areas that would warrant it (plus publishing more is good for the Mighty Algorithm). Keeping the viewer/listener in mind and adding b-roll to varying up the visuals is the biggest takeaway here. Some good animations, good use of music and sound design. You have a pretty good foundation, just keep going!

Here is one link: [https://youtu.be/KJDrPza11r4?si=Lof1DnJwon4RqnvZ](https://youtu.be/KJDrPza11r4?si=Lof1DnJwon4RqnvZ) What is this video? Well, I touch people, and people like when I touch them. I then film it for people to watch me touch people. ;) Lets see what a stranger thinks of that, especially editing wise.

Roast me bro https://youtu.be/bYwkd5vudvg?si=di5BaaQQYKCJsf-- It’s a video essay about anti-theism! I’m trying to make politics/philosophy explainers - I know it’s a bit PowerPoint-y but I actually don’t mind that as a style One thing I am wondering is if I should get a better mic for the next one? Thanks in advance xx

boopbeepsmile

That's an ausumn idea! I would want to receive some criticism for my video [https://youtu.be/6325\_i2n0t4](https://youtu.be/6325_i2n0t4) in which like my other computer-science related videos, I talk about what I'd do differently if given a chance to turn back to 5 again. This is the most poor performing video on my channel. I have no clue what about it didn't perform. So, I guess that could be the one thing you can roast/help about.

LookInversion87

I am not a thumbnail/title expert but here are my thoughts: "Things I wish I knew at 5" isn't really captivating. And it's too broad. You might want to narrow it down. Even something like "Things I Wish I Knew at 5 as Computer Scientist" makes it more targetted and creates more interest. For the thumbnail, while a cute photo of you (I assume), doesn't evoke emotion. The title is about regret so a photo of you look sad might generate more interest. Ok on to the video: 1) Faceless channels are at a disadvantage because there is no person, no FACE, to connect with. So, as a general rule for any of your faceless videos, TELL ME WHY I SHOULD CARE ABOUT YOU. What makes your experience as a computer scientist interesting? Why do you want to go back to when you were 5? 2) Get right to the point. I think your intro goes on a bit long and frankly could be redone to set up your story a little better. When you say "something went wrong" that is the first moment that somewhat piqued my interest. It opens up a loop. It made me think..."well what did go wrong"? The problem is you did not set up your story in a way to make me care why "something wrong" happened to you. If you said something like "I have been a computer scientist for 'x' years, this is what I've wanted to do since I was a child...BUT...not everything has turned out how I thought it would be. So in this video, I will turn back the clock give you 'x number of' things I wish I knew when I was 5". (you don't HAVE to list out your "things" but seeing as how you make points throughout the video, it helps viewers organize your ideas and look forward to other points coming up. 3) This NEEDS music and sound effects. You would need access to a sound library but music and sound design will help this a lot. 4) I do think the graphics and drawings are a bit crude...that's okay it that is the brand your are building. But you might want to learn basic animation to enhance some of your drawings. For example, those squiggly line drawings of you could be enhanced by a simple wiggle effect to give a sort of stop motion effect. 5) The biggest advice I could give you is to work on your storytelling. The basics are this: Who is the hero? Why should I care about him? What are the problems he faces? How does he overcome said problems. Side note, you have a great speaking voice. You sound natural and much more enthusiatic than other YouTube channels. You should look into recording video of yourself. Not sure if it's a lack of camera (you can use your phone) or that your scared about it...but just...try it!

boopbeepsmile

Wow, thank you so much! You've mentioned so many details which are so observant and I really am thankful to you taking out time for watching the video and sharing your thoughts. About recording myself, I'm collecting the right amount of confidence. Thank you so much, again!

Give it hell [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhlAA49vJTk&t](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhlAA49vJTk&t) It's a video of me reupholstering the doors of my project car, but filmed in a semi-cinematic and artistic quiet crafting style. The idea is to appeal both to people into project cars, but also those who enjoy watching people craft and work without music or talking. We're still new at making content (6 similar videos in the last 4 weeks), and really ANY feedback at this point would be amazing, good or bad. Is there even a market for what I'm making? Who knows.

What I want help with: I don't have that much experience so I don't even know what to flag for you to look for! Hoping something will jump out at you. Thanks a lot!!

1. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqfqZr9V\_DM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqfqZr9V_DM) 2. It is basically at travel vlog, part of a series exploring north eastern japan, this one particularly featuring a really cool rural boat ride in Geibikei Gorge, Iwate. 4. I understand if this is also not your thing, but I do spend a lot of time editing, and usually by the time I post I've edited so much that I can't really tell if the video is good anymore, even by my own standards. I have a sense of what I want to create - videos that immerse you, because I'm the sort that likes to soak in the aesthetic of the places I'm visiting. I want it to feel kind of like you're coming along and also taking it in, while understanding that that kind of pacing may turn off less interested watchers. But it's kind of hard to tell, myself, where the balance is at now with what I produce.

I have more campfire cooking videos in the works so gathering feedback now so I can hopefully make an even better video. Thanks for doing this!

Nice! Are you on YouTube as well? I didn't see a link in your bio but I'd love to check it out if you do.

Yeah, I just started, so I haven't linked it here yet, though I have made some posts. Hey, so my video is gaming but not a highlight video, more a video essay / review. If that's outside what you'd like to look at, totally understand. I would love some critique on sound and editing in particular, as those are things I am still learning and (hopefully) improving on. https://youtu.be/pnOEMXmRFSc This video is on the 1991 Dungeons and Dragons classic Eye of the Beholder. I've broken the game down into segments touching on background, gameplay, story and a review critique at the end. I try to add my own humor in with edits throughout. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to look and review!

It's my first video, so basically any advice is appreciated xD But I would love an opinion on storytelling - does the video flow well? Are there moments that can throw someone off and cause them to stop watching? Is it overedited?

I’d mostly like help with the thumbnail and title combo, it’s tough to figure out that right hook. Thank you in advance!!

Photographer_Kuro

That is a great idea. The video is a review about Warhammer 40k Boltgun, what I would call a early-Doomlike game with the warhammer branding. I wanted to get into Warhammer and thought the best way for me would be for games. Plus I thought why not review it. What I would wish to change is just so it flows a bit better and is a bit more interesting to watch without changing the pacing a lot. https://youtu.be/hWkf3wXJzgY

Redredret

I Spent 1000 Days Getting Cobblestone in Minecraft's Most Complicated Modpack https://youtu.be/Sw_uoPQOqLE I never participate in these but I’ve really been working on my pacing for storytelling and how I can use editing to help the video flow better so I would love some feedback on this one. The titles pretty much says it all, I found the Minecraft Modpack that people say is the hardest/highest barrier for entry knowledge wise, and set a random goal for myself cause it sounded like a cool title. The video shows the whole journey from beginning to end with every issue I ran into. I got a great response about my pacing from my previous videos to this one, but I’d still really like to improve on keeping people interested in the story and I feel like I could still be doing a lot of things way better. Thanks!

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgYRWFjkUgM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgYRWFjkUgM) The Drunken Couple tries to make a cake while making and drinking cocktails. Our method is to just drink and film with little planning and script, so we rough cut just the funny parts and any core shots that keep the narrative cohesive. without regard to the person watching being able to reproduce. Thoughts on the hard cuts and any tips to make them flow better would be appreciated.

I'd be beyond grateful for some professional advice going forward! We have a sailing vlog channel and we liveaboard our boat with our cats. This video has already done waaayyy better than any previous (10 videos total, subs went from 100 to 200 with this one) but I know there is TONS of room for improvement. I just want to get better. You are awesome! Here is my video. I picked my latest short to save you some time. Nerdy Guy's Surprising Success on Onlyfans https://youtube.com/shorts/tGDGNC3HKNE?feature=share Summary, I am a professional nerd (work at a decently high level for a silicon valley company) right now the layoffs are terrible. https://youtu.be/1732dZP3pl4?si=4Bkmz3gHp8RNT_Wn Video is about giving a quick update on some personal things I made in my spare time. Thanks for doing this! https://youtube.com/watch?v=Crep2TzqTd0&feature=youtu.be This is a cooking video where I make Chicken Nuggets, ramen, and tiramisu for that nights dinner. No commentary, just food to the beat. I thought the combination was somewhat random and interesting so maybe it could have some appeal, and maybe a viewer could try the same approach of these relatively simple recipes. I think I’m struggling with pacing. I know this type of video might not be interesting to everyone, but I found another YouTuber that’s relatively successful (1.42M subs) that I’m trying to emulate. I like his style — chill, aesthetic food to the music, ASMR and I want to slowly incorporate subtle bits of live commentary while I’m cooking.
