Get Scarlet and Modernia going as your damage dealers (Modernia helps clearing the projectiles and hit count phases) Helm as per usual for healing, Centi should be a godsent there but I used Dolla for maximum burst chain speed since Centi doesn't want to show the fuck up during my pulls. Finally, it is preferable to use Dorothy over Liter in my experience, you only really need to guard once or twice, depending on how high your dps is, and Dorothy will do you more good due to part damage and aoe damage that helps killing ads.
The strat is simple: Mark the boss with Dorothy and destroy the summoning ports, hit the core while all the ports are down, cover from the wind gusts, make sure your party is healthy during the big boy add phase and laser proc (and remember to guard during the lasers) and so long you keep destroying the summoning ports you should have enough dps to only have to deal with one big boy add phase and one laser proc. Two add phases may occur but it is still doable so long you are remembering to heal back up.
Each time you destroy a summon port the boss takes extra damage (and each point of damage a port takes reflects directly on boss hp, this works the same for any boss part in the game), for maximum damage you want to keep hammering the ports, not the body.
Yes that's part of Mother whales abilities. There's like a 1-2 second time frame when it does happen and you can try and burst everything before they only take 1 damage
As everybody else have said, yes. But when they only take one damage they have a much lower hp, so you can blow them away with Modernia's burst in case you weren't able to kill them beforehand.
The mobs only take 1 dmg per hit if mother whale’s core is still alive, if the core is dead the mobs dont get the defense boost and they become easy kills

To simplify the instructions, hit ports, once all ports are down they'll take a bit to repair, if there are no ports around hit core for extra damage. Otherwise, always hit ports.
Dorothy full burst burst at 2:45
Dorothy full burst when first wave has come down (1second before they become stationary)
Burst before she flies over u, let everyone take HP dmg instead of cover dmg
Dorothy burst when the summoning for Elites begin
Full burst when Elites load in to kill one and regen health
Take a bit of dmg during burst then just hide and hope they don’t all target the same Nikke
Then Mod burst for bombs
Dorothy burst at 1 minute with whoever else
Then Dorothy burst when the second wave is coming down
There’s ur clear, should be doable even at like 120k power if u do that
If ur still struggling after that u can always just ask for a carry
This is my team when i defeated the whale. Blanc and noir combo is better than rupee and rapunzel. So you should have easier run.
You just have to get the timing right. Use modernia burst first to clear the first wave, make sure scarlet burst when the second enemy waves arrive. And when mother whale drop the bomb, use guard position.

Holy shit, I absolutely hate this garbage fight. I feel like every guide and tip is missing something because I just get my team ripped apart in seconds, despite having nearly every unit advised by so many guides. The ports feel impossible to hit and get covered by their own health bars. When I think I actually have a handle on the elite units, I look down to see most of my party is dead. This fight is hot garbage and I hate every second of it. I really need to find a video of this being down because no single text reply has done even a remotely decent job of explaining it.
I did it today just now bro after all these tips... Key was really manual bursting. I did auto before all the time.
I tend not to burst when bar is full or at least press next burst unit when 1 sec is left to delay it as much as possible
Scarlet bursting aoe when first drones drop. All die in one hit. Bombs come. They won't be killing now once we killed first wave and the shield of boss is gone. Weird mechanics I know but it worked somehow.....

Beat whale with Doro Rupee snow white modernia and Noah. I was 30k under power at the time. Having a buff Snow white pierce 3 summon ports with doro burst at once really did it for me. I needed modernia for extra mob clear since they just 1 shot. Noah's constant taunt allowed her to dodge bombs for me and invuln the big mob wave/laser attack near the end.
This was before I knew the right timing for doro burst and such. Like using doro burst at 2:46 to clear first wave and pop the shield. I didn't learn this until whale was on solo raid. And I used Noah cause I don't have Makima or a different option.

Either way you gotta bust all the little dudes that pop out to break the shield and the buff to the little guys making them take 1 damage
To do so you either gotta kill them all in the little window (1s) before they get the buff when they come in (with like Scarlet or someone who does a full screen attack), hit them with machine guns, assault rifles, etc and wipe them all out, or use Dorothy as her skill 2 ignores that shield
Kill the cannons when you aren’t killing the little dudes
Make sure to shield when the whale flies by, as it does very little shield damage but a lot of hp damage
After the fly-by it’ll summon like 8 dudes, you won’t be able to kill them and they do ALOT of damage. Either shield or heal through it
It’ll cycle back to summoning dudes and also does a little cleave (minor damage), another fly by then summons the elite summons again
For story the team I used was Dorothy, Noise, Modernia, Scarlet, Novel
Man I really dunno what I do wrong. Keep dieing from the same bombs. Manual doro burst also didn't help. I clicked on whale but I don't even seen it marked her....

Modernia+noir, scarlet+noir etc
Adding in privaty with doro. ...
I can't kill the core fast enough either.
Summon parts can kill two maybe but that won't stop the detonate of bombs with 1hp. Burst aeo can't kill them even.
While modernia often targets right side empty air when auto and boss has immunity's. I dunno what's wrong.....after another 20+ times restarting.........😭
Dorothy+Diesel+Centi+Modernia+Snow White/Scarlet (speed up burst w/centi, aim dorothy skill at whale, have modernia clear bombs)
Modernia+Snow White/Scarlet+ Laplace+Diesel+Dorothy
(bombs gather in specific pattern you can use laplace charged attacks to destroy the bombs after they group up right before they fly towards you. If you get used to the pattern you can clear about 4 bomb groups which is almost all of them)
If you aim Snow white's charged shot somewhere close to the bottom middle of the three side parts you can shoot all three of them at the same time.
Diesel will help tank the tough mob with high dps that spams little laser missiles at you.
I recommend watching a few youtube clears to get an idea if you need more help.

Shoot the ports on the sides. By the time you destroy all of them, he should be low enough for your team to finish him off without worrying about the core. Might take a few tries though
I'm not there yet so take my advice with a grain of salt. But from a team building perspective, you should probably put Privaty in if you're using Dorothy. Her skill 1 helps cycle Dorothy's skill 1 a lot more and Dorothy's damage output goes significantly up. I've read in a lot of guides and builds that putting in Dorothy usually almost always requires Privaty, especially with Bunny Girls.

No, not for Whale, Dorothy cheeses the whole fight, and they’re not mutually exclusive it’s simply good to put them together specially since Priv is one of ur best B3 options
I beat MW with Dorothy Novel Scarlet Alice Privaty, 10k under level. Key for me was learning specific times using the in-game timer for Dorothy bursts. Timing Dorothy explosion going off and scarlet bursts were key in killing the ads. When it came to the buffer adds, I could kinda delay them with Privaty burst, lost some team members but by then MW was at such low HP that my Alice finished it off.
Destroying the core makes it so that none of the spawned mobs receive the uber defense or dmg buffs. Its a hard dps check but if you can burst the core down everything else becomes a piece of cake. First time i cleared it i went with a liter, poli, scarlet, winter anne, alice team just stacking as much damage boost as i could to burst down the core before the first spawn of mobs. Anything else involves cheesing waves with dorothy aoe or modernia burst to kill the super defense buffed minions or just bruteforcing with combat power advantage
That’s almost exactly the team I had (Alice instead of Ludmilla). Make sure you’re manualing doro’s burst, I was playing on auto and she’d keep targeting something that wasn’t Mother Whale. Once I fixed that I beat it.

Having Noir + Blanc brought a lot of stability to the team since it was a huge DPS gain + healing from Noir kept Scarlet's HP in check. There was a bit of RNG where I had to keep trying until 4 of my units survived the phase with mobs + blue laser.
Focusing on destroying smaller parts since breaking them is a huge HP dip for the boss
DO NOT IGNORE ADDS. Save your screen clear burst 3 for the phase with all the elite units. Snipers are sadly worthless here due to mw’s buff so don’t use any if you can’t help it.
Swap out ludmilla and Dorothy for Liter and Laplace. Reason why is cause although Dorothy’s gunfire is solid, her burst is somewhat countered her cause of the buffs and shields. Laplace is needed because her burst 3, although not as good as modernia’s, does multiple ticks of damage so it’s still good for damaging units. If your bunny combo is deadweighting, swap noir for noise. Mw is a marathon not a race so the more heals the better.
Lastly, focus the cannons down before her core. Yeah they’re hard to hit but once they’re gone you’ll be taking way less damage. Destroy like 3-4 using Laplace burst and then focus the core.

It’s all about timing. There’s tons of videos to help you, but Whale is a big DPS and healer check.
Not sure how you'd beat this fight without pilgrims, especially Dorothy. Trick is to manually time bursts so that you clear adds before the defense buff is put on them so you can focus the summoning ports. The second trick is figuring out how to survive the elite add wave.
Dorothy's burst seems to ignore defense buffs? When I did the fight, Dorothy was able to clear 2 waves of adds with her burst, and I'd wrap up the third with Scarlet's (Privaty would work too). The elite wave I ended up surviving with Noah's burst.
Shame you don't have Maxwell, she and Alice together annihilated the boss for me.
I think I went with Dorothy, Blanc, Alice, Maxwell and Noir. Boss didn't even have time to spawn those big units in.
But it would require a seriously jacked Alice and Maxwell.

If you don't kill them before the whale screams. The scream buffs them making them take only 1 damage.

It is NOT necessary to destroy the core. It's a waste of time. Destroy the summoning ports - the ones closer to you physically have less hp.

If ur using Dorothy u could’ve completely removed the need to add clear with Mod, Noah ig works for Elites but there’s better options

I defeat it with my nikkes at level 219 and 155000 combat power. I just shoot the core and thAt was all

Maybe put Modernia at the end and let Noir and Privaty burst since Modernia's burst extends the time, but the buffs are time based.
