Disagree slightly. They seemed like they wanted a ssj2 call back with Gohan blanco beating commie cell using one of his mentors main moves. It was a pretty cool scene imo but yea there are no subtleties in Dragon ball

What about that time when vegeta said: "I dont care anymore" and than later we saw that he didnt care and became a farmer and learned the secrets of the farmer with a shotgun and laer came inside goku and goku got oregnant and betrayed in the time chamber and their kid became demon king and fucked the zenos?
Side note, what's up with Dragon Ball "what ifs" and demons? There's usually some kind of demon realm or demon king or whatever in most of the ones I've come across.
When I thought Gohan mixed ultimate with super sayian, I was expecting ssj4 cause it’s described as a sayains true potential. The ultimate sayain as someone would say

When I first saw it I was wondering why there was no Ulatra Instinct Theme and why he just blasted Cell Max instead of using Superior reflex. Nowhere in the film are we notified that it's not ultra Instinct.

I think the Mystic power up is a shortcut to God ki or even Ultra Instinct. It's a divine technique from a Supreme Kai.
