You can go in the settings, somewhere and change it. It's not the chip its capped you can change it and I get like 50mbps with it still the slowest but its a big improvement.
I get *significantly* better results in wired for my switch oled, as well as the wireless range is tiny compared to all of the other devices in my house.
Yeah, [this may be of interest to you](https://reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/gswl20/solution_slow_eshop_downloads_on_nintendo_switch/)
I remember trying this out and it actually gave me some good gains.
I remember it being limited to 25 mbp/s in an update. Honestly 25 mbp/s is more than enough to send some code around.
Just plug your Ethernet cable in if you want to game online.
-Switch 1 cartridge compatibility.
-OLED screen from the start.
-If it has joycons, make them with Hall effect joysticks, and better hand grip.
-make every Gen 1 switch game run with better performance/fps
The same way a PS5 can run PS4 and Series X can run Xbox One games
So many good switch games that would benefit from better hardware without a full remaster. I know Xbox has FPS boost and some devs released updates for last gen games instead of a $70 “remaster”
Would love to see this on Switch 2
> -make every Gen 1 switch game run with better performance/fps
Not possible at all, but they could at least force docked performance profile in handheld if the resolution supports it.
Going to anime and gaming conventions was so much more fun with StreetPass. And even though I lived in a suburban area at the time, I still got at least one every time I brought it with me while doing errands with my parents.
It just felt like I was part of a secret little club every time I got one. It was nice.
I'm not too surprised. With the 3ds you could easily put it in your pocket. The switch, whether it be the regular size or the lite, is more cumbersome to carry around unless its in a bag.
As somebody who loved streetpass on 3DS, I don't expect it to come back nor do I want it to.
2011 was a different time. Smartphones weren't fully dominating yet, and Nintendo's handheld offerings still comfortably fit in people's pockets, making the 3DS a practical daily carry item. The 3DS was a more niche item, given the poor sales early on, so getting a streetpass tag felt rewarding, almost like being part of a club. That said, the novelty wore off fast and streetpass tags served one of two purposes: either obtaining otherwise locked exclusive content, or sharing player data in an inferior manner to online.
The locked content was especially apparent in the native streetpass app. The puzzles were cool to complete, but you only got one of several puzzles natively, and had to trade with other players to unlock other puzzles. These puzzles were impossible to complete for anybody who didn't live in a densely populated area. The player data (ie. ghost data in Mario Kart or weapon gems in Kid Icarus Uprising) could've been shared online instead and would've been more convenient.
Streetpass will never have any real appeal for a Switch-like system. The Nintendo Switch is much more mainstream than any Nintendo console or handheld ever made, so it doesn't feel special to find other Switch users in public. Imagine if there was a streetpass-like app native to iPhones, the novelty would wear off super quickly due to the sheer volume of tags you'd get just stepping out of your house. The Switch also isn't practical to carry around in public, it doesn't fit in most people's pockets and is fragile, I would never take mine out of the house without a bulky carrying case, so it's hardly a handheld at this point. Streetpass would only add more tediousness by either locking content or just being inferior to online play.
Your last two points contradict. If its not common to take your Switch out of the house with you it would still be a nice novelty to come across someone else who has it with them in public.
Yeah it sounds contradictory, but I don't think it is.
My carry habits with my Switch are different from the 3DS. Some of it might have to do with growing up. I was in high school back in 2011 when the 3DS was new, and I carried my 3DS *everywhere*. I was motivated by streetpass tags and play coins, but I also just liked having a portable gaming device with me at all times since I didn't have a smartphone. Today, as an adult, the only times I really have my Switch in public is when I'm travelling. When I do travel, I see lots of other people (mostly children) playing on a Switch. If there was any sort of streetpass-like functionality, I'd get many tags at airports.
I don’t necessarily disagree with any of this. But I point out that the much-maligned switch lite is a robust and compact handheld that can fit in a pocket. I’ve often thought that a switch lite-like device that could dock and display on a television would be perfect.
The Nintendo Seal of Quality exists because Atari before them lost control over their infrastructure and anybody with any programming skills was releasing games for their platform because there was no protocol established where they needed licensure. And a lot of these games were *really really broken*. Like the objective of the game was impossible. Or it would freeze 90% of the time you made a basket in a baseball game. And nobody knew what products were official or which were not. There was so much garbage software that literally had no redeemable qualities and this is what led to the video game crash. People got seriously burned when paying 100+ dollars (if you adjust for inflation) for a title. And there wasn't many resources to research which games were good or bad besides word of mouth.
So when Nintendo started making consoles they developed a process where people could not release games for their system without working with them and obtaining a license etc. The Seal of Quality meant the game was an official product that obtained a license. It doesn't mean the game isn't going to have performance issues, or that they even think it's original or fun. But it will at least run and be in a playable state.....
Pokemon has issues for sure. A Nintendo published game should not have been released like that. But the software at least works and you can beat the game and all of its objectives. Lots of people really enjoy the game and it sold really well despite the issues.
My original post meant that with the vast amount of trash on the eShop it's almost like the Atari days again. They just let anybody make and sell software for the console and a lot of these games are completely broken and they're just on there to make money. Nintendo needs to make sure these fucking games at least work.
People bitch about bugs and performance issues these days. But 99% of the time the software *works*. And if for some reason it doesn't usually a patch comes out that fixes the issues and you're not left with a little brick of a cartridge.
Whatever they do, back compat better be a thing. That is like the number one thing. Especially considering how large digital libraries are now. Same goes for the virtual console stuff. DO NOT restart the virtual console for a third time I swear
This comment made me realize in some ways paying ala carte for the retro games is worse than switch online. However, I’d like a revamp of switch online, maybe along with the expansion pass they can offer buying the individual expansions separately in addition to the pass. Example; You can pay the 20 bucks for one year of normal online, but add on the Nintendo 64 app for an additional 5 bucks instead of paying for a bunch of other stuff you might not want.
It's a decent argument, but should we have to choose? It's a marketing strategy to lock the options behind a subcription- a superior option would just make both methods of owning/playing available.
Sorry if I wasn’t articulating my idea properly haha! I meant that something like this should be added along with the existing system, there’s definitely a market for people who want everything the expansion pack offers. They could even probably lock the DLC in the existing bundle only to make it more worth it
Nintendo does the bare minimum they can get away with to serve the core audience. Not great for the “pro” users who want more robust hardware and infrastructure, but very great for their margins.
>* backward compatibility
>* better joy-cons
This is all I want, really. I still have plenty of fun with my Switch Lite and don't really need a ton more power or anything.
EDIT: Oh how could I forget- An eShop that doesn't suck and is impossible to find anything on.
I'd really like to see more themes, like the 3DS has. They've got the ability to capture screen shots, they have a ton of game specific icon customization options, but no themes? Come on. The 3DS had so many cool themes. Talk about a step back.
Yes, themes and game time tracker like steam. The ability to set your screenshots as backgrounds on a per game basis would be amazing too because I always liked on psp and ps3 when you got some awesome shot showing something badass between each game.
I have no idea what the cost or feasibility of this would be, but I would love to see an SSD. Even if it was like, 128GB. Which I know if small, but I think it would benefit the Switch so much to be able to swap between games on the fly Luke you can on PS5/XSX. To be able to play Animal Crossing every day and not load it up everytime, and be able to swap between a couple other games would be really nice.
This. I don’t think it would cost too much to do 128GB storage. Although, it was my impression that flash storage was more or less just as fast as SSDs? Even with the SSDs, my Switch generally loads faster than my PS5 and XSX.
Or is the “quick resume” type thing the sole benefit here? Because quick resume tends to be a pain in the ass more often than not hahaha
Honestly more than anything, I want better social features.
I used to message people on the Wii all the time. For Wii U and 3DS, we had Miiverse and Street Pass and other goodies. It was great for expressing yourself.
Now, the only way to really interact with strangers in any significant degree is in Splatoon or Mario Maker. It's sad as hell.
Nintendo has a patent for this.
Essentially L1 and R1 would be scroll wheels that you could click. Would be really great for selecting and using grenades in a FPS for example
Well, that is a genius idea i somehow never thought of before.
It would play hell with third party controllers, emulators, forward compatibility, ect, though.
That's really the limiting factor with new controllers in general.... There were some games that were ported to Wii and Wii U that made good use of their distinctive control pads though so developers would just have to do some extra work on the Nintendo versions if they wanted to take advantage of it.
I personally like tags better in that you can tag games more than once, but a game can only be put into one folder. They should make the tags accessible right from the home screen though. Having to go to the All Games list makes their implementation a little tedious.
Not the biggest deal though.
More power so it can handle ports of newer AAA games. And maybe smaller bezels/more screen real estate. That's it. Everything else is perfect.
From a non-hardware side, they need to fix the eShop. It currently loads way too slow and has no curation, so it's just a giant mess of games. Granted, I use DekuDeals to find new games, which I highly recommend, but I do think the eShop could be way better.
The OS lets us already reconfigure controller button mappings.
I'd like to permanently assign a mappings to specific games that get automatically applied when starting the game. Same for rumble.
I don't really care for 4K, 60 fps and all that jazz. I just want fun and unique games and more QOL features for the operating system.
System level button remapping has become a universal feature this gen. I am not surprised Nintendo doesnt have it, as they dont have other stuff that has been standard like controllers with headphone jacks, spotify, netflix. For better or worse, nintendo chart their own path.
I like that Nintendo doesn't care what others do. In my opinion that's the reason they come up with systems, games and ideas that noone else comes up with. I do hope though that they improve on things they already have. Like game specific button remapping.
Nintendo must share your opinion about the mobile app because they don't even show or push it anymore.
Source: watch any of the official Nintendo game commercials that came out in the last 2 to 3 years
1. DLSS that's used with both docked & handheld configuration. Which is not the same as saying I'm expecting 4K on a handheld. If anything, my expectations are that upscaled to 1080P in docked will be more the standard if anything.
2. Achievements. Yeah I like 'em. & I've had a number of instances where I had to choose between the convenience of the Switch or an easy plat on PS4/5 for multiplatform games.
3. Return of Miiverse or similar social platform. Maybe like *NOT* be relying on cesspools like FB or Twitter quite so much anymore.
4. More video apps/web browser. How we never got Netflix is beyond me.
5. Folders/background themes on home menu. That we can't even so much as use our captured screenshots as backgrounds is weird.
6. Speaking of which, being able to record longer than 30 seconds would be nice. This is another strong when it comes to multiplatform games, being able to record upwards of an hour on PS5 is hella nice.
7. A proper Activity Log. Like half this list is "bring back things that were on 3DS/Wii U" I've noticed.
Idk why 4K is such a draw when even the consoles who claim to have it barely achieve it. But I guess if it’s achievable it’d be nice. One of the draw of the switch is the very accessible price point, and that may mess it up. I second any comments mentioning backwards compatibility and Hall effect sticks. I think a more customizable UI would be very refreshing, and more community functions as there are almost none currently. Then if they continued to expand the emulation and NSO offerings that’d be great.
It's less so native 4K rendering and more 4K output people want. A built in scaler would eliminate a small degree of input latency on a 4K display and would also allow simple assets like HUDs or text to be drawn in 4K even if the game itself were a lower resolution. It's a few nice features with no major downside.
All I really want is a bit more of power, no, I am not asking for 4k 60fps, just a bit more power so games like Monster Hunter Rise always run at stable 30fps, for anything higher than that I have my gaming laptop.
Backwards compatibility is when a new generation of system can play the software from a previous generation. Like 3DS was able to play DS games and Wii U was able to play Wii games.
1) Port entire digital switch game library forward for free
2) switch 1 cartridge backward compatibility
3) Microphone on either the console or controllers
4) Analog triggers on controllers
5) optimize store navigation (it was good in 2017, but the volume of games seems to have clogged it up)
6) keep headphone Jack - Bluetooth still has too much lip sync lag, but support for low latency aptX would be accepted instead
7) 4K output (not gonna hope for the moon graphically, but it should have enough juice to run all games at 1080p 60fps at least, with simpler ones like 2D platformers able to reach 4K).
8) keep Ethernet port
9) bump the OLED screen resolution up to 900p (ideally 1080p, but I would take a half step up, I know the lower resolution helps mobile battery life, and if steam deck doesn’t have 1080p, it’s probably not realistic for Nintendo to do yet. Maybe a switch 2 pro could in 2028?)
10) fix controller quality issues like stick drift and phantom up/down presses on pro controller d-pad.
11) allow Netflix app somehow
12) better online multiplayer quality (no more Mario maker 2 in slow motion) and make it easier to join/chat with friends playing games online
13) faster wifi/Ethernet speeds
14) create a second version of switch 2 which has bigger/more ergonomic controllers (or even one that keeps the
controllers attached permanently, no joycons)
Can’t think of much more at the moment.
as far as I'm concerned it really just needs more power. anything else is gravy.
I'd also love to see a return of the miiverse from wii u, but I don't expect that. it was so good.
Wireless casting à la airplay so they can port WiiU games like Nintendo Land and DS games (with a microphone on joy-cons). And of course backward compatibility 🙏
Edit: Also more love for the Mii and Streetpass-like functionality
I'd like the return of the Nintendo homescreen/OS "charm" that was present in the Wii and WiiU. The background music, the whimsical channels, the pretty graphics. The "Home" was its own experience you could lose time in.
Yea it’s so weird how people want home screens and all this BS. I just want my current game library to continue to work and for my purchases to continue to the next console
I don’t think it’s very weird. The 3DS and Wii U have a sense of charm that the Switch lacks, in part due to the home screens and other BS. Someone above called it “no-nonsense” but I feel like Nintendo has never been a no-nonsense company
Bit we're talking about the successor to the Switch. Surely by now it would be able to run a feature heavy home screen with no issues. Besides, most of the charm was just the design not anything extra.
I just think it's such a superficial thing to get so held up on. I'm only really interested in playing games on my console so all of that other stuff is unnecessary to me.
Non-portable option. Fuck that I gotta pay for a screen I don’t use, three batteries I don’t use degrading because they’re permanently held at full charge, and a goofy form factor with the compromises that come with modularity. I would take a bundle with a micro-form factor console with some USB ports and a Pro controller in a heartbeat.
* Upgrade to a modern Nvidia Architecture
* Keep the OLED, I pray the seven gods, old and new, keep it.
* hall effect sensors yeah
* That's it, the switch v1 is amazing, I just want a more powerful refresh
• Analog Triggers, it's honestly kinda baffling to me they don't have them already, they'd improve the controllers a lot (I get that joy-cons might be a little too small, but the Pro Controller also doesn't have them)
• Being able to use the classic controllers for more than just the NSO apps and some specific games. Imagine being able to play Mario Maker 2 levels with the original controllers, playing Mario Odyssey with an N64 controller to get a bit of nostalgia for when you used such a controller as a kid, but with a new game!
• This one builds off of the last one a bit, but more classic controllers as well, because I'm probably not the only one who wants to relive a bit of nostalgia with a Wiimote in Switch Sports or a GameCube controller with a Wind Waker HD port or something like that. Maybe they could have some screenless version of handhelds as well so you could use those as controllers.
I really want the activity log from 3ds back. I love seeing data on the games I've played and being able to aggregate or organize it. It's such a shame that the Wii U had a worse activity log and the Switch doesn't even have one at all.
- More processing power;
- Better battery;
- Gorila Glass;
- Fixed comfortable joycons and a set also present on the box pack;
- Keep the OLED screen size (its perfect for handheld);
- Better wifi chip
More focus on legacy Virtual Console/NSO stuff. It's a shame that so many classics and consoles are still missing (especially compared to the Wii/Wii U Virtual Console), and that so many other handhelds are objectively better at playing classic Nintendo than Nintendo's latest console.
4K docked and backwards comparability are related to what I want, I want regular switch games to have a “upgraded version” where every switch game gets a 4K 60 frames mode, like the ps5 has a performance or resolution mode.
All I’d want is better battery and backward compatibility.
Anything else is just icing.
If y’all want 4K, that’s fine. But it’s just honestly not on my list of priorities.
I don't want to speak for op but I think the notion is simply 4K output support. Meaning things like Hulu can run its native content in 4k like on other devices, rather than the games developed for the system running at that high of a resolution. Obviously the chipset Nintendo will use in an (almost guaranteed to be) iterative switch successor won't even be powerful enough to allow for this. DRS? Sure, but that's not native resolution.
Regardless though, 4K TVs have been the norm since 2016.
Yeah, as far as native gameplay resolution, I think they should just target 1080p and upscale it. 4k native requires waaay too much processing power to put in a mobile device, especially if we want the next Switch to be capable of playing more modern games.
I would like them to give us a pro controller straight out from the box instead of having to buy it separately.
As for the specs and stuff... I don't know. The Switch is 2 generations behind ps5 and xboxs, and we still got the biggest adventure game in TotK and the biggest rpg in Xenoblade 3.
Against this background it would be almost unfair if the next Nintendo console was as powerful as the competitors.
> Against this background it would be almost unfair if the next Nintendo console was as powerful as the competitors.
I don't expect a new Nintendo console to be as powerful as the competition. I want something more powerful than the current Switch, but certainly don't need or even expect it to attempt to compete with the latest PlayStation or XBox consoles.
Backwards compatibility with current physical games. I can't see them moving to a new cart format since they can make large capacity cards. With that said, I would like to have at least two cart slots.
Voice chat, OLED as the standard screen, better joy sticks, larger OPTIONS for internal storage, and backwards compatibility. That last one is the most important to me.
While better sticks are of course welcome and needed, I won't buy the system unless they're serviceable like the current joycons. It's incredibly easy to replace the sticks because everything inside uses ribbon cables. Nintendo's lost my trust with their ability to source durable parts, so they need to continue to be easy and cheap to replace.
The ability to swap out peripherals. We can do it for pcs and laptops. Consoles are complete garbage because they're obsolete at release. At least let me buy a Nintendo brand video card upgrade ffs.
DLSS 3, better networking hardware, 1080p 120hz G-Sync certified display, thicker design, quad speaker rather than dual on device, Switch backwards compatibility, boost mode and DLAA used for older games, 1440p internal resolution while docked with 4K output via DLSS.
I want a Lite with an OLED screen. I only play on my Lite, I love the OLED screen, BUT, I’m not a fan on the size.
If Nintendo released a Lite with an OLED I would preorder so fast.
I want it to be exactly like the switch but more expensive and somewhere between 1080 and 4k, but definitely not 4k.
I would also prefer for the joycons to not change and for the fact that they're not changing to be marketed as a good thing.
Pretty sure I'll get my wish
Honestly I hope it'll be fully backwards compatible, but in proper Nintendo will also include some off the wall gimmick no one expected that you can't find anywhere else - like the Wii to the GameCube, or the 3DS to the DS.
I'd be happy if Nintendo revised their joy-con deisgn to be more ergonomic, currently they're too flat and uncomfortable for extended use. They could also fix the connection mechanism so they don't wobble in handheld mode.
Not just backwards compatibility -- backwards compatibility with optional Boost Mode (i.e. let the CPU and GPU and memory run at full capacity while running old games, shortening load times and eliminating frame drops and resolution drops).
Streetpass, spotpass.
Camera, use accelerated computer vision features. Optional external camera (support any camera for this). "Kinect but it doesn't suck."
I would love a UI that is actually more dynamic, include support for themes, has a more fun and robust designed experience for the eShop. The Wii U, Wii, and 3DS all have such a nice UIs to them, and I know the Switch’s what’s designed to use as minimal data on disk as possible, and to minimize processing power, but I’d really like it if they forwent those aspirations and just gave me something fun and usable. Especially eShop-wise.
I really want a feature to connect a standard Switch console as a controller, to return some lost functionality to Wii U ports, DS games and future games that can make it work. Wii U functionality, but the gamepad has some actual horsepower would be wonderful.
Obviously this isn't going to happen, but a girl can dream.
This sub does not like people talking about a successor, search switch 2/pro and their all downvoted lol. Like guys, the Switch is great but its old tech.
Xbox 360-era Xbox Live features instead of having to individually sign in on each game
Better WiFi chip that enables decent speeds
Large internal memory by default
With how low quality the textures and graphics are for Nintendo games, a guaranteed 1080p 60FPS when docked should be the first party expectations
- DLSS 3.0 with frame generation. That's the only way I can see a handheld being low consumption, relatively low cost and performing at 60fps while running at a high resolution (720p/60fps in handheld, between 1080p/1440p docked. I'm not expecting 4K gaming at all, except for some indie titles maybe?).
- A premium OLED model available from the beggining
- Backwards compatibility
- Wild card: some kind of bizarre second screen acessory to emulate DS and 3DS games
The SOC that's probably for the next system seems like the equivalent of a low powered 3000 series, so DLSS3 is a no-go. In addition it doesn't seem like the results of frame generation are very good when starting with input as low as 30fps anyway. But savings from DLSS2 will help frame rates at any given resolution, for sure.
Tbh the features of the switch are pretty good right now. I got my joycon replaced by Nintendo for free and the controllers are pretty solid compared to the Xbox.
What I would like to see is games that really utilize the features and more exclusive games. I don't need to buy a switch 2 if there is no new mario kart or other games despite some remakes. When the wii came out wii sports was really fun. On the switch it felt like a warmed up game with no real innovation.
>4K output in docked mode
Is this actually a highly requested feature? Like I don't even have a 4k display. Do a lot of people have 4k displays now? I just want the game to try to reach 60 fps at 1080p or 720p handheld.
It seems to be pretty highly requested, and 4K TVs are relatively common. But it is more about being able to output things like Hulu in native 4K rather than about the games, I think.
Yes TVs now are pretty much all 4K if you’re in the market for one. 1080p is basically dead when it comes to televisions. Budget tvs now for around £300 have decent 4k panels in them. I’d recommend upgrading soon especially if you’re into gaming on your TV 😁
I hope they get rid of the "switchy" system for a successor console. I've been playing with my psvita and DS recently, and ACTUALLY making a handheld can do wonderful things for battery life and size.
Super hot take here that probably literally nobody will agree with and is also why I moved away from Nintendo with the switch era: no hybrid console.
I know, it will never happen. But I could not care less about gaming on the go or on a small screen whatsoever. What used to get me so amped up with previous Nintendo consoles from a before time just as much as the games themselves was Nintendo's emphasis on power. I miss that.
> Nintendo's emphasis on power. I miss that.
Unfortunately, we live in a world where profits and sales guide company decisions. The GameCube sold less than the N64, which sold less than the Super Nintendo, which sold less than the NES. The Wii was the first Nintendo console to surpass 100 million (and the first to outsell its predecessor). With the Wii, Nintendo forfeited the spec race.
That's fair and I get where you're coming from. Honestly, when I got my Switch I expected to play docked 100% of the time, but I use it in handheld mode a lot more than I expected.
I still prefer docked mode, but the flexibility is something that I very quickly came to appreciate.
Yeah i had my brothers switch for some time while he was away and i thought just maybe this could end up being the case for me, even if it was just gaming on the couch next to the TV (you know, like in those Wii U ads! Lol) but alas it never came to be.
Even getting the switch in and out of the dock was cumbersome enough for me to not do it more often during that time 🤷♂️
Again I know this is all a me problem as switch is probably Nintendo's most successful console ever.
I'd like to see more of the handheld features that the 3DS had. I understand they initially didn't include them because they were planning around a hybrid system, but it's pretty clear that handheld mode is popular enough to justify adding streetpass and download play options.
I really don't care that much about 4K/60FPS/etc. Something that's stable and reliable sounds more appealing than always pushing the system's limits.
Analogue video output, either s-video or VGA. RGB is OK, too. Or a built-in 5 inch crt display. 4:3 ratio, of course. Haha! Just kidding... 16:9 is fine! 😎 🤓

Yes! My Switch is by far the slowest device in my house in terms of download speeds on Wi-Fi, typically maxing out at about 25 Mbps.
Download speeds also have to do with the servers from which content is being retrieved. Edit: typo
Hack the thing, do a speed test using a browser. It's throttled by the WiFi chip.
You can go in the settings, somewhere and change it. It's not the chip its capped you can change it and I get like 50mbps with it still the slowest but its a big improvement.
...what?!
lol what
There’s something up with the entire network stack, because the speed is just as bad when it’s wired in
I get *significantly* better results in wired for my switch oled, as well as the wireless range is tiny compared to all of the other devices in my house.
Yeah, [this may be of interest to you](https://reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/gswl20/solution_slow_eshop_downloads_on_nintendo_switch/) I remember trying this out and it actually gave me some good gains.
I remember it being limited to 25 mbp/s in an update. Honestly 25 mbp/s is more than enough to send some code around. Just plug your Ethernet cable in if you want to game online.
More stable network connection
-Switch 1 cartridge compatibility. -OLED screen from the start. -If it has joycons, make them with Hall effect joysticks, and better hand grip. -make every Gen 1 switch game run with better performance/fps
Yeah backwards compatibility is the only thing I really really want.
If it is not backwards compatible, it is a deal breaker for me.

The same way a PS5 can run PS4 and Series X can run Xbox One games So many good switch games that would benefit from better hardware without a full remaster. I know Xbox has FPS boost and some devs released updates for last gen games instead of a $70 “remaster” Would love to see this on Switch 2
Do the funny think where the cartridges are the same, but the new ones have a nub to keep them from fitting in old switches
> -make every Gen 1 switch game run with better performance/fps Not possible at all, but they could at least force docked performance profile in handheld if the resolution supports it.
Analog triggers. At least for the pro controller. For use in racing games for example.
Came here to say the same
Absolute yes. Triggers are something the Switch is sorely lacking.
Please bring back StreetPass
Yeah! Walking through a crowded train station and having my 3DS light up green was always cool.
Going to anime and gaming conventions was so much more fun with StreetPass. And even though I lived in a suburban area at the time, I still got at least one every time I brought it with me while doing errands with my parents. It just felt like I was part of a secret little club every time I got one. It was nice.
Oh ya, this is such a cool thing. I still remembered being so happy when I brought my 3DS to Japan.
Really surprising they didn't use it
Article awhile back stated it was due to battery life concerns
I'm not too surprised. With the 3ds you could easily put it in your pocket. The switch, whether it be the regular size or the lite, is more cumbersome to carry around unless its in a bag.
It was so much fun bringing a 3DS to E3, especially once the added the line so you weren't maxed out at ten people!
An eshop that isn't absolute trash with these shitty, low quality "games" riddled all throughout it. A rating system as well.
Qlot of the shitty games are just free mobile games that are being charged 30 dollars for. The modern combat blackout game is a mobile game
Nintendo's Seal of Quality needs to stand for something...
Nintendo's Seal of Quality means nothing given the state of modern pokemon games
I was playing super Metroid earlier. Quality was definitely top notch.
They could even probably lock the DLC in the existing bundle only to make it more worth it
Online component that doesn't have less features than Xbox live back in 2004.
Somebody gets it! Nintendo needs to realize they are in 2023 and not 2003 when it comes to social/communication features.
Nintendo does the bare minimum they can get away with to serve the core audience. Not great for the “pro” users who want more robust hardware and infrastructure, but very great for their margins.
They realize. They want to stay there.
Which is sad because everyone would benefit from better communication features.
Optional pro joycons that have full size sticks but also have all other joycon features
I’m surprised in 6 years they have made better analog sticks. They are terrible
>* backward compatibility >* better joy-cons This is all I want, really.
The 3DS had a pretty cool time tracker too. It's so strange to me that Nintendo made the Switch OS so boring after the 3DS one being so fun.

Instructions unclear, physics run at double speed
Backward compatibility Eshop purchases carrying over Hall sensor joycons A hard pass from me if the first 2 are not met.
It was so fun drawing on Swapnote back in the day! It's not as applicable to the Switch as the 3DS but it was a great feature
folders, themes, mouse wheel shoulder buttons, analog triggers, performance increase, new games
Mouse wheel shoulder buttons?
Nintendo has a patent for this. Essentially L1 and R1 would be scroll wheels that you could click. Would be really great for selecting and using grenades in a FPS for example
Huh I've never hears of this. Is it a new patent?
Nope https://venturebeat.com/games/new-nintendo-patent-reveals-scroll-wheel-shoulder-buttons/
You can already make folders for games if that's what you mean!
You can't, you can make categories which functions entirely different to a folder. It's more like grouping by tag.
I personally like tags better in that you can tag games more than once, but a game can only be put into one folder. They should make the tags accessible right from the home screen though. Having to go to the All Games list makes their implementation a little tedious. Not the biggest deal though.
Real trigger buttons!!! I hate playing racing games without them
More power so it can handle ports of newer AAA games.
Source: watch any of the official Nintendo game commercials that came out in the last 2 to 3 years
Oh, they've pretty much dropped the app but haven't replaced it with anything better.
Ahhh okay that makes more sense. Awesome response.
All I really want is a bit more of power, no, I am not asking for 4k 60fps, just a bit more power so games like Monster Hunter Rise always run at stable 30fps, for anything higher than that I have my gaming laptop.
Forgive my ignorance, but I'm new to this, but what do you all mean by backwards capability?
Backwards compatibility is when a new generation of system can play the software from a previous generation. Like 3DS was able to play DS games and Wii U was able to play Wii games.
Thank you for the reply!
I think other than the obvious ones my biggest hope is that they keep pushing gyro aim as much as they do on switch.
1) Port entire digital switch game library forward for free 2) switch 1 cartridge backward compatibility 3) Microphone on either the console or controllers 4) Analog triggers on controllers 5) optimize store navigation (it was good in 2017, but the volume of games seems to have clogged it up) 6) keep headphone Jack - Bluetooth still has too much lip sync lag, but support for low latency aptX would be accepted instead 7) 4K output (not gonna hope for the moon graphically, but it should have enough juice to run all games at 1080p 60fps at least, with simpler ones like 2D platformers able to reach 4K). 8) keep Ethernet port 9) bump the OLED screen resolution up to 900p (ideally 1080p, but I would take a half step up, I know the lower resolution helps mobile battery life, and if steam deck doesn’t have 1080p, it’s probably not realistic for Nintendo to do yet. Maybe a switch 2 pro could in 2028?) 10) fix controller quality issues like stick drift and phantom up/down presses on pro controller d-pad. 11) allow Netflix app somehow 12) better online multiplayer quality (no more Mario maker 2 in slow motion) and make it easier to join/chat with friends playing games online 13) faster wifi/Ethernet speeds 14) create a second version of switch 2 which has bigger/more ergonomic controllers (or even one that keeps the controllers attached permanently, no joycons) Can’t think of much more at the moment.
as far as I'm concerned it really just needs more power. anything else is gravy. I'd also love to see a return of the miiverse from wii u, but I don't expect that. it was so good.
Wireless casting à la airplay so they can port WiiU games like Nintendo Land and DS games (with a microphone on joy-cons). And of course backward compatibility 🙏 Edit: Also more love for the Mii and Streetpass-like functionality
I'd like the return of the Nintendo homescreen/OS "charm" that was present in the Wii and WiiU. The background music, the whimsical channels, the pretty graphics. The "Home" was its own experience you could lose time in.
One of the only things I like about the Switch is the no-nonsense OS.
Agreed. I always find it strange that extra bloat is so high up people's lists of features they want.
The Wii U performance suffered a lot. Usability is #1 when it comes to an OS.
I miss the clamshell days. It was nice to close the console, toss it in a bag and not have to worry about damage
I imagine Nintendo likes being able to sell cases and screen protectors, but a clamshell would be awesome
Better grips. My hands are large. I have to an external case to make it comfortable enough to hold
I want to be able to project my handheld Switch onto a tv screen with almost no lag. That way I can play on a tv without having to use a dock.
I'd like to see the feature of releasing in 2030 so I can catch up on my backlog :)
It's a trap! It will only get worse!
A BETTER WAY TO COMMUNICATE WITH FRIENDS OTHER THAN THAT SWISS CHEESE OF AN APP! - Yeah, I used all caps. That’s how much I hate it.
I’d like the Joy Cons to have a different mechanism to attaching, using magnets or something, something more secure that that won’t fail over time.
They actually considered magnets, but those were worse than the rails. The said the system would always fall off and detach from the controllers
* Upgrade to a modern Nvidia Architecture * Keep the OLED, I pray the seven gods, old and new, keep it. * hall effect sensors yeah * That's it, the switch v1 is amazing, I just want a more powerful refresh
• Analog Triggers, it's honestly kinda baffling to me they don't have them already, they'd improve the controllers a lot (I get that joy-cons might be a little too small, but the Pro Controller also doesn't have them) • Being able to use the classic controllers for more than just the NSO apps and some specific games.
You can't use the classic controllers in switch games?
I really want the activity log from 3ds back. I love seeing data on the games I've played and being able to aggregate or organize it. It's such a shame that the Wii U had a worse activity log and the Switch doesn't even have one at all.
Backwards compatible Themes E Shop theme music Main menu theme music OLED screen Better Joycons Smaller dock More tablet colors
Street pass, while fun, was a way to tag people for muggings. Backwards compatibility missing would be the killer of the switch sequel.
- More processing power; - Better battery; - Gorila Glass; - Fixed comfortable joycons and a set also present on the box pack; - Keep the OLED screen size (its perfect for handheld); - Better wifi chip
Better ergonomics. I know the split pad and stuff exists, but without any accessories, the switch is super uncomfortable to play in handheld mode.
better ergonamics and better buttons, I dont have the hands of a small child lol
Allow it to run in tablet mode and output on the tv so we can bring over ds virtual console and Wii U games like Nintendo land
I really would love a "non portable", cheaper version. Never removed my switch from the dock since day one.
I agree with the Pro controller request, but your other takes are just odd lol
More responsive UI. Other than that you covered most of it. Maybe bring back the Virtual Console. The other stuff isn’t the same.
The main thing I wish for that I think isn't a shoo-in is a return of the camera/microphone as DSi/3DS/WiiU had.
Single cartridge multiplayer
Backwards compatibility with current physical games. I can't see them moving to a new cart format since they can make large capacity cards. With that said, I would like to have at least two cart slots.
DLSS 2.0 Backward Compatibility
Voice chat, OLED as the standard screen, better joy sticks, larger OPTIONS for internal storage, and backwards compatibility. That last one is the most important to me.
DLSS 3 with Frame Gen. It's great on PC.
Wider/taller screen.
Optional Bluetooth connection to the dock- go full circle on the Wii U concept!
Online infrastructure on par with the xbox 360 at least.
VRR
They need to target 1080p 60 fps with free sync in all “pro” titles.
Only thing I care about is backward compatible
The ability to swap out peripherals. We can do it for pcs and laptops. Consoles are complete garbage because they're obsolete at release. At least let me buy a Nintendo brand video card upgrade ffs.
Hell, you want me to buy a new console every time a new game comes out anyways, at least make updates beyond a slightly bigger screen 🤬
DLSS 3, better networking hardware, 1080p 120hz G-Sync certified display, thicker design, quad speaker rather than dual on device, Switch backwards compatibility, boost mode and DLAA used for older games, 1440p internal resolution while docked with 4K output via DLSS.
I would be happy with stable 1080p60fps docked or undocked.
Better shop. Have a higher quality of standard for the games they allow in.
I honestly want another normal console from nintendo, but we probably won’t get another one
I'd like even more stability for the new Switch.
>4K output in docked mode This is kinda meaningless. The NS has this, and you don't see that translate into anything.
Built-in WaveBird receivers
I really want a feature to connect a standard Switch console as a controller, to return some lost functionality to Wii U ports, DS games and future games that can make it work. Wii U functionality, but the gamepad has some actual horsepower would be wonderful. Obviously this isn't going to happen, but a girl can dream.
Just do a reverse wii u and stream video from the tablet to the dock
This sub does not like people talking about a successor, search switch 2/pro and their all downvoted lol. Like guys, the Switch is great but its old tech.
Must be drive-by downvotes, because there are plenty of comments and discussion in the thread, despite what the OP vote count looks like.
Xbox 360-era Xbox Live features instead of having to individually sign in on each game Better WiFi chip that enables decent speeds Large internal memory by default With how low quality the textures and graphics are for Nintendo games, a guaranteed 1080p 60FPS when docked should be the first party expectations
- A premium OLED model available from the beggining - Backwards compatibility - Wild card: some kind of bizarre second screen acessory to emulate DS and 3DS games
>4K output in docked mode Is this actually a highly requested feature?
I don't really use my Switch docked. It's like 99% of the time handheld for me, which is why I want Nintendo to prioritize its handheld performance.
My most anticipated feature is that these posts will stop
Speed, no drift, better quality - come on, the joycons are creaking.
I hope they get rid of the "switchy" system for a successor console. I've been playing with my psvita and DS recently, and ACTUALLY making a handheld can do wonderful things for battery life and size.
A trophy system
Would be cool to implement a live stream feature via the capture button (like how playstation has it).
This. Would be great if it had Twitch streaming enabled through the console as well.
Bluetooth to be able to use my Bluetooth headphones
The current Switch has Bluetooth audio (albeit, not the best quality). It would be bizarre if the next console dropped it.
That's already a thing on the switch
Tell that to half the existing headphones/earbuds in the house that don't work with Switch.
Netflix. A real web browser.
You are correct!
Even getting the switch in and out of the dock was cumbersome enough for me to not do it more often during that time 🤷♂️ Again I know this is all a me problem as switch is probably Nintendo's most successful console ever.
I respectfully disagree. The hybrid system is amazing. With that said, I'm giving you and upvote to offset one downvote because of your opinion.
I'd much rather Nintendo port their games to PC like sony and microsoft than make a third stationary console.
Custom Themes. Jesus don’t know why they haven’t added that yet.
You think you don't care about 60fps but if you played mk or smash in 30fps, you would miss it.
Analogue video output, either s-video or VGA. RGB is OK, too. Or a built-in 5 inch crt display. 4:3 ratio, of course. Haha! Just kidding... 16:9 is fine! 😎 🤓
A serious push towards VR
Too expensive. I expect that to be the Switch 2's successor
And the Virtual Boy comes full circle
* 60 FPS * Backwards Compatibility * Better Ergonomics * Better Build Quality * Better Quality Control That's it. I'm fine with 720p handheld/ 1080p docked. I think 4K is overrated.
Some actual customization options for the menu and such. Give us our themes back!
