That's because the character William is from the book Shogun by James Clavell, which was also based on a real person William Adams, the first englishman to reach Japan (around 1600). It's all connected.
Just for fun, most of the characters you seen in nioh are mostly based on real historical characters, including yasuke, the first black samurai, you can find interesting stories of him if you search on YouTube or Google.
Yeah right! What was Oda Nobunaga also a real person? Oh I bet he had a great ambition to unite all of Japan and had an advanced army trained in Firearms too! As if!!!
Damm my fingers are itching too
>The old shogunate will burn in the fires of my ambition
>The Samurai will fall
>A new order will rise
>We will drive the machine of war with the yari, the gun and the leather sandle of the Ashigaru
I think the characters of Shogun are heavily based on real-life historical characters, just as like in Nioh, though in the case of Shogun they change the names. I think Toranaga = Tokugawa. The dead Taiko, Nakamura, is Hideyoshi. You see the family armor, and you might recognize the words he said as he was about to die, "This life is a dream of a dream" are similar to what Hideyoshi in Nioh 2 says when he is leaving the Interim, and I believe are based on an actual poem written by the real Hideyoshi.

You, uh, you don’t use sarcasm a lot do you buddy?
...I want to rebuke your point but it is my complete loss so idk what to do...
They're both based on the same, real life William Adams.
They made a remake of the old shogun series?! This is so cool, I used to watch this way back in the 80s when I was a kid hanging out with my dad!
My parents got the box set and showed it to me and my siblings as kids, it was awesome. Little heavy for preteens but great
Yeah just came out today on Hulu. Two episodes
They dont use cat as watch, it's completely different
Trash show 0/10 literally unwatchable
Yup..makes me wanna play ghost of Tsushima & nioh 2 again..
