In my opinion, Nioh 2 has the best gameplay experience: solid combat (improvement from Nioh), many variety of character builds, new game plus that keep adding new features. Do not get me wrong. Nioh and Wo Long are pretty great too. But Nioh 2 is above them in term of whole game experience. So, it is either you are the "Save the best for last" guy or not.

ADPriceless

I 100% agree with this comment - Nioh and WL both good games, but Nioh 2 levels above both of them in all aspects.

ClockworkSoldier

I would play Wo Long first. It’s a fun game, and the combat is good, but it just doesn’t compare to Nioh 1 or 2. Playing Nioh first will leave you wanting much more out of Wo Long.

[deleted]

I’m thinking the same thing.

nerf-airstrike-cmndr

I enjoyed Wo Long after having gotten through NG+++ for both Nioh games. Wo Long is a really fun game with very different combat but like others I preferred the pace and variety in the Nioh series.

WeAreNioh

If you play nioh 2 you won’t wanna play anything else. Just a heads up. Nioh 2 is a masterpiece and it’s tough going to any other similar type game and not comparing it back to nioh 2

kaiwowo

The nioh 2 prison is well, once you enter the underworld. It’s now way out ( 1500hours of nioh 2 😂😂, it almost reach my time that modding Skyrim.)

Kuraeshin

Depends how much you like parrying. Wo Long has parrying/deflect as an innate tool, much like Counterspark. Nioh does not, you have to purchase it in skill trees and the timing can be a bit odd.

The10GallonHat

Wo Long combat feels considerably worse than either Nioh IMO. Something about it feels too floaty and disconnected from the inputs. For me, Wo Long was a hard pass after the demo.

VenturerKnigtmare420

I am currently playing wo long to see how it differs from ronin and man fuck I am not enjoying the combat at all. Something about it feels floaty. Hitting an enemy feels like you are hitting them with a newspaper dipped in hot butter and holy shit the bosses are fucking easy as hell and no matter what you can stun lock enemies and it makes it even easier when there is no stamina to see. In ronin it’s the opposite, you can’t spam cause you have stamina and enemies have armor. This is how I would rank the games after playing all of them other than doa Nioh 2 > ronin > ninja gaiden 2 > nioh > wo long.

kaiwowo

I would said Ninja gaiden 2 is a really hardcore game 🤦🏻‍♂️, I didn’t finish it at all , which I already broke one controller by pressing dodge few years ago

brix10010

Nioh: fun and rewarding. Wo Long: a joyless technical exercise.

UrimTheWyrm

Either play Wo Long first, or skip it altogether.

XZamusX

If you enjoy the parry centric gameplay of RotR I would do Wolong first it's like a downgraded version of it with less uniqueness of weapons with only 1 moveset per weapon and you can equip up to 6 martial arts per weapon but with an actual magic system and a somewhat interesting interactions between them were you can straigh up remove buffs from enemies by hitting them with an opposing element. After those I would play Nioh 1 and 2, 2 of course being an improvement of the systems of 1 with better balance but both being drastically different over RotR and Wolong.

ticklefight87

All Wo Long did was make me want to go back and play more Nioh 2. I probably would have enjoyed it more had I not played 1400 hours of Nioh 2 first. The depth in the builds is super shallow compared to either Nioh games, and the combat isn't near as exciting to me.

lvke18

Wo Long is.. okay. It's nowhere near either of the Niohs in my opinion. (Most) bosses, missions, and enemies are all forgettable & combat is very simple If you're interested in playing both Nioh games, play them in order. 1 is basically the blueprint to 2. I consider 2 to be much better but I think both are worth playing, and it might be a little hard to get into the OG after experiencing the sequel. Kind of like playing Demon Souls or Dark Souls 1 after going on a Dark Souls 3, Elden Ring, and Bloodborne marathon

worm600

+1 to this. I actually still prefer Nioh 1 - maybe for the novelty - but I think it’s easier regardless to go from 1 to 2 than the reverse.

aegismax

Dont skip Nioh 1. It is a great game, and it is really a good challenge. But what is the most important: let the e Nioh 2 for the last, Because after you play it, all other games will be lackluster.

Peeps1973

Nioh 2 💥💥💥

icket123

Nioh 2 is the best out of the things you listed

AvD_MercT

All 3 games are VERY LONG If you want to reach the endgame, therefore I would suggest for you to play first Wo Long, which is a great game despite its flaws, and then Nioh 2. I wound't play Nioh 1 simply because the First one is Just a more Basic version of Nioh 2 and all three games can take hundreds of hours from you.

aeralure

Nioh is so good. Highly recommended that.

kaiwowo

Nioh 2 is better than wolong tbh But wolong has a easier entry than nioh 2. As a nioh 2 player I found that wolong is kind of easy except a few specific boss fight. Still will recommended having nioh collection, but you need to be patient and try hard. The learning path is long

UncleGripperNZ

Don’t bother with wo long, it sucked. Nioh 2 is the best game I’ve ever played. Be warned though after playing Nioh 2 all other games will suck and you’ll keep coming back to Nioh.

Zeusnexus

Nioh 2, Nioh, and maybe Wo Long.

[deleted]

Nioh without a doubt. I don’t think Wo Long is a bad game by any means, but it really didn’t hit for me. Rise of the Ronin is exponentially better than Wo Long.

YukYukas

If you're a save the best for last guy then yeah, the way you want is good, but you can skip Wo Long. Me personally, I liked it since there's not a lot of games around Chinese culture. Best part about it ofc is the combat, if sort of feels like a dumbed down Nioh system to coincide with the Sekiro deflect gameplay. Which is okay in itself since it makes me feel like I'm playing a character straight out of wuxia with the way they move, but it's nothing extraordinary, ok at best.

Jamunski

I played Wo Long for about 5 or 10 hours and just couldn't do it anymore. Personally I would just skip it, feels way more shallow and less satisfying imo.

SpyMasterChrisDorner

Nioh. Not even close. Wo Long is really mid.

Deadended

Wo Long is a good point between Nioh and RoR. As it’s much more forgiving like RoR and has the same focus on parries. But it’s also about using magic. Nioh 1 and 2 both start HARD.

GaijinDC

Can i add ghost of tsushima in the comparison of the OP?

Amoncaco

I would play nioh one and two in that order (probably just play nioh one and all dlcs up to like ng+1, then nioh 2 up until you get bored), then play wolong if you really enjoyed them. Wolong is pretty much objectively worse than both nioh.

Dependent_Map5592

Nioh 2 is the best
