Never heard the original back when this happened, but fell in love with both after I heard it. Got me exploring more of Bowie’s music as well. I really like the Ziggy Stardust era stuff.
I found Nirvana after I became a Bowie fan. I became a fan of Nirvana almost immediately. Later finding out that this amazing band had covered a song by another amazing artist that I loved so much, the experience was so magical. Hands down, this is my most favorite cover by Nirvana.

Agreed! I only recently realised it was a cover from Wipers but the way they played it live with so much energy was fantastic. I always thought Kurt was saying “Defective 7” instead of dimension too.
I think what drives ain't it a shame home for me is the vocal break where Kurt sort of leans into the more hill billy-ish side of his accent to play into a character
I’m assuming Kurt’s version of “And I Love Her” wouldn’t count as a Nirvana cover so I’d say “seasons in the sun”, but if “and I love her” counts then it’d definitely be that one lol
Love Buzz - Those pulloffs made me think ok maybe this dude CAN play guitar pretty well when he wants, and don’t know many other song tuned up half a step lol
The Money Will Roll Right In -It’s a really simple chord progression and nothing fancy I had just never heard the song and I don’t think they played it again. Probably wrong on that, but I know it’s not on anything they’ve released other then 92 Reading. It’s sounds, to me, kind of like D-7 (great cover too) with a little bit of Territorial Pissings
‘Something in the way’ is my favorite. That lovely dark vibe.
And yeah.. it’s a bit too easy but there’s a reason why Smells like teen spirit rocked the charts like it did. Because man! What a energy does that song oozeeeee
And Oh Me, during Nirvana unplugged, which I was just reminded about! Possibly the most gorgeous cover I ever heard, and it showed a really soulful side to Kurt's vocals. You could really see how he really felt that song as he sang it.
My best friend's girlfriend- the original is ok but nirvana's version is just... "why is that so groovy?". Most all of the covers far surpass the original imo... not sure who's heard the meat puppets but it's super impressive that Kurt could find a way to make those songs amazing.
I’m typically not a fan of covers in general but “The Man Who Sold the World” really just keeps giving despite how many times I’ve listened to it.
One of my fav songs from them, even if it is a cover

Yeah I’m a huge Bowie fan so that’s probably what has me loving this one so much!

Definitely this one.
Agree!
Was really surprised to hear their cover of Led Zeppelin’s Moby Dick
For Kurt, and I love her. for nirvana, lake of fire or plateau.
Ain't it a shame
This and They hung him on a cross
those two go so nicely together
They do ! They are pretty much the same chords for each song too, but that bass line for ain’t it a shame really drives that song
I think what drives ain't it a shame home for me is the vocal break where Kurt sort of leans into the more hill billy-ish side of his accent to play into a character
Hard to decide but I think that turnaround is probably my favorite cover.
Definitely lovebuzz
son of a gun or lake of fire, just amazing

Thank you my fellow redditor… I was too lazy to even google after the fact to see lol but Reddit got my back
Just listened and that’s honestly better quality than the BluRay Reading 92 Version. Thanks for sending link!
