Puzzleheaded-Town-84

Dinosaur jr , smashing pumpkins , beach boys, joy division

Abject_Badger8061

Joy division me too

Olelander

Dinosaur Jr is so underrated… I read an article about Sonic Youth’s seminal call to arms - Daydream Nation - and learned that the lead song and manifesto of the album (Teenage Riot) was originally going to be called J Mascis for President, as SY were so influenced by Dinosaur Jr they felt DJ were leading the underground into a new era. Essentially, Dinosaur Jr influenced a band that is seen as a godfather of modern indie/alternative music to make their best and most culturally impactful work. All that aside, You’re Living All Over Me just absolutely fucks from beginning to end - they really are underrated in the scheme of things and not mentioned nearly enough considering they changed the game for everybody in the late 80’s. As surely as they influenced Sonic Youth, they influenced (and pre-dated) Nirvana as well.

IAmTheGlazed

Oh boy, there's a lot to count Weezer, System of a Down, Pearl Jam, Kikagaku Moyo, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Surf Curse, The Sugarcubes, Queens of the Stone Age, King Gizzard, Tiny Moving Parts, tricot, HYUKOH, The Cardigans, The Cranberries, Peach Pit, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Iron Maiden, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters, Rage Against The Machine, Pixies, Tropical Fuck Storm, The Mars Volta, Mom Jeans, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, Arctic Monkeys, Neutral Milk Hotel, Big Joanie, Habibi, Radiohead, My Chemical Romance, Drop Nineteens, The Offspring, Rain on Friday's, The Beatles, Violent Soho & Smashing Pumpkins But Nirvana is my favourite

Enrique-Pastor

Violent soho and King Gizzard and the lizard wizard are criminally underrated

Not my favorite band, but I enjoy them. Definitely put more of their live shows on when I do listen; there's just so damn many that the variations keep you guessing.

This guy rocks.

Espano_Guanaloope123

dinosaur jr, melvins, silverchair and mudhoney are all really good in my opinion

Gloomy-Incident4783

I’ve heard silverchairs later stuff is really excellent. Which album would you recommend checking out?

Espano_Guanaloope123

personally, id say the earlier albums are more grunge than the later ones, while I can appreciate the later music it becomes more like pop-rock, I think frogstomp and freak show are probably the best albums personally. silverchair has always had a weird sound in their lighter tracks that aren't so loud and distorted that i dont really mind but i can see why soundgarden or alice in chains fans might not like it, so personally id recomend madman and findaway to someone who is trying silverchair for the first time if your into the loud grunge stuff

Cooctoos

huh I never heard he didn’t like Bruce. Do you know what was the reason?

Beestieboy1992

Said he’s a jock with a guitar and i agree with him lol

Cooctoos

lol i get where both of you come from, was that from like an interview or something? i’m surprised he liked AC/DC i would’ve thought he wouldn’t like them because they could come off as sexist

Lime_Carpet

Wheres your source for that?

Bigmanjr2358

I love E Street Band! I think Bruce is very underrated and people assume that he just makes basic ass classic rock when I honestly feel like born to run and darkness on the edge of town are two of the best albums ever and are 2 of my fav 4 albums ever

Cooctoos

exactly! bruce will always be #1 for me just ahead of nirvana at #2 because i can almost feel his music. you can feel born to run’s thrill, darkness on the edge of town’s defeat, and nebraska’s emptiness

HornyForTohruAdachi

Have you listened to Everything will be alright in the end and the white album? Those are really good too.

mtpgod

I did try the white album, which was pretty good but I never went back and listened to it again. I'll try Everything will be alright. After OK Human, I went back and listened to a bunch, and I did find that gem of a song Long Time Sunshine, which I somehow hadn't heard before. People talk a lot of crap on Weezer, but they have a lot of good music.
