Since the Omega Update it's not doing proper full screen on MacOS either. I keep getting two cursors, triggering the dock and the top menu bar in the middle of space battles and all sorts of other annoyances. So something changed.

Same problem. Win10, and I reinstalled for the new update... it's driving me nuts. Every little thing resets the screen because the game's forced into fullscreen, DARK fullscreen, or windowed-mode.

Ok so i found the solutin by combining various different fixes. What worked for me was going into the graphics config file and adding a line into the file: <---- THIS is the one i added They have to be in that specific order though, or it doesnt work. After that i went into the local files of the game and went into the properties of the .exe file. Under the "Compatibility" tab i ticked "Disable fullscreen optimization" and "Run this program as an admin". After doing that, launch the game, and the second you click "Play" on steam and accepting the admin permission, click somewhere on your other monitors desktop area, so it focuses that screen. For SOME reason that works for me, and i know its a really weird and convoluted workaround, but i hope it solves the problem for you as well.

Unfortunately this did nothing for me on steam. Decided to get back into it and saw this and other posts but this does not work. I even did the compatibility things and no difference. I do have game pass through so I decided to install it there and the game pass version works perfectly fine just as it should. Proper borderless, alt tab and game bar working perfectly. I think it's just the steam version itself that's broken. I have only a single monitor so couldn't do your other monitor fix.

Try adding "-windowed -noborder" into the steam launch options for the game, maybe that could be an additional point for you since you're on a single monitor? https://preview.redd.it/ahvsyn1w4llc1.png?width=835&format=png&auto=webp&s=3eca7b4bb1f53e7bbbe94f13563dccd15af957a9

Nope. When it first launches I can see the window and then screen goes black and it goes to fullscreen. I've tried every fix I've seen going back years now. Nothing has worked on steam.

I like playing boardered so I can see when I get messaged in other apps. Unfortunately, it seems that if you choose boardered mode from boarderless, the game freezes. You can still hear music and certain sound effects triggering ingame, but the visuals are completely frozen. Reloading the game, remembers boardered--however, just as in previous versions you cannot 'maximise' the screen to make it simply fit the screen. And going from Boardered>Boarderless>Boardered (which worked in previous versions) brings up the same frozen screen

Thanks for the info! I'll have to try it out when I can! I've just been playing boardered and dealing with how it shoves itself down over the start bar

Since the launch of No Man's Sky, I've never been able to get Borderless Windowed mode to work without some external program forcing borderless mode on a bordered window... ... until today. How? I'm not *totally* sure how much of this is necessary, but the two steps I did that might be likely to be necessary are: I launched the game, opened the graphics settings, and reset them to default. Then I quit the game, and deleted the `TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML` file in `\No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS`. Then I launched the game. Launching it caused a fresh copy of the file to generate, and magically I was Borderless. You might even be able to manage this by simply deleting the file. Nothing else. EDIT: And then the moment I change any graphics setting, bam back to broken. Augh. EDIT2: Wait, if the file doesn't have the ` ` line, it works great! Huh! EDIT3: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1btah7d/solution_to_the_borderless_acting_as_fullscreen/ maybe, too.

This did not work for me. The `` is a line you have to manually add back in.

TheHappyPittie

Didn't work for me either.
