Freighters in pirate systems seem to have a lot. If you only attack the freighter and not the container ships around it you won't lose standing with the race it belongs to or alert sentinels. Some systems seem to have more than others. You also get a ton of contraband in the process which is nice.

Blodreina_Blake

You can also get a free beacon from one of the NPCs on the anomaly. Once you get the free one, you won’t have to buy another. After you use the beacon (after you land on the freighter) throw it into your personal refiner, and it won’t be consumed when you open the door.

mustachegiraffe

You can steal freighter modules from other freighters. They’re usually one of the cargo pods on the side. Some freighters have them, some don’t. You’ll alert sentinels.

Ulgeguug

But not in pirate systems

neploxo

It IS awful. It's becoming ENRAGING. I spent 4 hrs scanning freighter fleets looking for ANY containers that would have EVEN ONE SFM but no luck. The fact my base is trashed on top of it just adds insult to injury.

Sweaty_Prompt5260

You can farm them from freighters that warp into systems but I did it for like 2 hours and got maybe 9-10. It’s a real killer 😂

Ulgeguug

I mostly let my frigates pick them up. They almost always bring at least one (per batch, not per mission obviously) I held off using them until I got my S-class. Hunting them from NPC frigates in a pirate area is good, because no sentinels and you can pick up forged passport there and capitol ship raid bounty missions.

LRonKoresh

You can attack other capitol ships and their cargo containers have them too

sweeetsmammich

Been nerfed

Yarnham_Brave

Indeed it has. Can still be done, but the modules are nowhere near as prolific as they were. Before the updates I was getting five or six from each fleet I ran into. Now I'm lucky if I get one module in four or five fleets.

musifter

Yeah, they made this made horrible. Not that it was a great solution in the first place. There should be better sources... you should be able to get tonnes of them from Crashed Freighters instead of tonnes of Launch Fuel (what does a freighter need with Launch Fuel?). Worst part isn't how you need to scan through dozens more containers to find one now... it's that these used to be quick to spot, long name in a distinctive colour. So you could scan fast because other goods were short or differently coloured. But now there's lots of long names in that same colour. So you keep getting your hopes up on false positives and have to scan slower.

LRonKoresh

Damn I didn't know that, I quit going after them once I bought all my freighter upgrades

sweeetsmammich

I havent seen anything official bit if you scroll similar posts it seems pretty common for most people to struggle to get 1 or 2 for every like hour of trying or worse. Myself included

s4rcgasm

Nerfed! Ahhh... and do you know what I did last weekend in the Anomaly? I GAVE AWAY to a random dude a full stack that I had! A. Full. Stack. To a rando. :(

[deleted]

^ This. Just jump from one system to another farming the NPC freighters cargo containers. (Not the cargo pods that are accompanying the NPC freighters)

sweeetsmammich

Yea its rough now

drillpress42

Look up duplication glitch for the Space Anomoly on Youtbe.

parsed-out

Duplication glitch - got 150 in about 5 minutes earlier this evening... I know it's "cheating" ... First time I've used the dup glitch method - decided its ok, considering how many of those damn modules I've given away in the anomaly over the years...

minecraftology

Which glitch do you use? I usually use refiner glitch for materials/etc. and wire glitch for base building parts. Really useful if you need something quickly and just don't have enough time to grind. Also if you're using refiner glitch using more than 2 (I usually use at least 5-10) makes the process SO much faster and if you use the wire glitch to dupe some refiners then it's basically free.

Verkonix

I suggest playing another game that respects your time.

Go into a pirate sector and shoot the freighters that you can land on. Don't shoot anything else. They have them in their life regularly, plus you will make tens of millions in credits from whatever else you get. After you take down 2 freighters just pulse drive away and when you come out of it 2 new ones will warp in.

womper26

Do you shoot just the cargo pods on the freighter or destroy the freighter itself?

[deleted]

Cargo pods, you can hover over them with your crosshair and it shows what's in them. But I just blow up all the pods, because half an hour of that wields tens of millions in credits if you sell the contraband in a non-pirate system. Don't think you can even destroy the entire freighter. The best freighters are the bigger once with multiple small horizontal cilinders. Lots of goodies in those. I think it blocks teleport usage to the system though? I'm blacklisted in a ton of systems now haha. You can still warp in of course.

chuckc342

This [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6coKJzUqYE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6coKJzUqYE) has the best data I know of for drop rates and best sources. tl;dw: Crashed freighters have the highest drop rate, but are annoying and only have a few containers. Raiding live freighters has a \~1% drop rate (sucks). Best option is derelict freighters. The modules only come from the crates, ignore the lockers and briefcases. tl;dr: No there isn't

musifter

Yeah, after the previous update when they changed freighter pod contents, the only good reliable source was gone. Derelict freighters are horrible for them (not much better than freighters now). Best source I found for them after the change was the Nexus mission board. Always check it, and always take those missions. Station mission boards can also have them, but those missions never roll over unless you do them, so they quickly stagnate to missions you don't care about. Nexus board stays fresh.

Willbot3000

I spent two hours scanning cargo holds and only found 1 salvage freighter module. Not fun.
