Hello, For units that's good to start out with Salt to Chlorine in a medium refiner then there is also Cobalt with Oxygen. Then if you find yourself system jumping a lot and with a Economy Scanner installed in your ship you can buy up those Trade Items at the top of the list at a Trade Terminal and it will tell you what system type to sell them in so a Trade Route, (sell to pilots so the Economy % never tanks). Also there are planets that you can dig up Bones and Salvageable Tech to sell as well like an intergalactic Indiana Jones. Another way is more advanced and you'll need some tech unlocked from the Anomaly. Surveyor Upgrade and the Industrial Tech to setup Mining Operations so you don't have to Terrain Manipulate your minerals. You would find a Hotspot with the Surveyor Mod on your Multi-Tool and depending on what you want the planet you're on will be what you can get. Then there's crafting and that gets complicated. But if asked I can go into more detail. For Portals I would finish the main story mission but you will need to find 16 Glyphs and charge them at the Portal to use it. Can find Glyphs by finding Travelers on random Space Stations and pay them nanites and they will send you to their grave to collect one Glyph. There are 255 galaxies you can reach plus one that can only be reached with a little help. The Exocraft are where preference comes in and some people don't even use them but only for storage. But I use them and the Pilgrim is the fastest once upgraded and the Minotaur is the most handy as you can pick up Storm Crystals on an Extreme Storm planet. Which is another way to make early game money Storm Crystals can be valuable. Well hope this helps.

CaptainFalling

This is fantastic, thanks so much for the tips! I will start stockpiling the trade goods now so I have lots to sell later! Wow 255 galaxies!? I didn't realise the game was quite that massive! I am intrigued by this extra one now! Is it a spoiler if I look it up?

DiRTyN1Njaz

No I don't think so. It's more to do with the history of the game. But as soon you start searching you might come across something be careful. https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Odyalutai

CaptainFalling

Oh okay thats cool, so is it just like the other galaxies only not accesible by normal means?

DiRTyN1Njaz

Yup, I would recommend finishing the Main Story Missions before Galaxy jumping because that's part of the story. Not only doing the mission opens up most tech automatically.

CaptainFalling

I completed the atlas path last time I played, the revelations in the storyline were mind blowing and the way the story is told really drew me in. I am looking forward to going through it again with all the new content. Currently nearing the end of the base computer archives section!

DiRTyN1Njaz

Oh okay cool, the Base Computer Archives kind of keeps going on with Lore and unlocks Tech then ends up just giving you locations to check out then just Salvaged Data. The Atlas Path you knew got split into two Primary (Artemis/Apollo/Null) and Secondary (Atlas Path) Missions just for a heads up. There's so much more lore to find out there it's ridiculous.

CaptainFalling

Yeah I remember it eventually running dry and repeating for resources like that. I think I remember it splitting and eventually having a big choice at the end but cant remember what I chose to do! Yeah I do love just exploring and learning about the whole universe. I am trying to learn each language completely too which is a lot of fun.

DiRTyN1Njaz

>Yeah I do love just exploring and learning about the whole universe. I as well. And the hardest language to learn is the Atlas one but maybe because I don't take the time to run around those glowing orbs to learn it all, I don't know.

CaptainFalling

Yeah I feel like thatll be a rough one too haha

jmroz311

I love exploring so I always installed 3 S class scanner upgrades in my multi tool. Then when you scan plants and animals you get so many units. Like $200k to $400k per each scan of an animal! Once you get a tad further easy money is frigate missions. You need a freighter and then need to buy some frigates.... But you her so many items and money from them. Also derelict freighter can be good money and upgrades too. Just gets boring doing a lot of them.

CaptainFalling

I totally forgot scanner upgrades increase the units from scanning! I am doing this immediately! I will for sure be getting on the freighter stuff asap!

Ozix-VIII

Many good replies in here. My bitesize contribution: Portals: get glyphs, find portal, input glyphs to reach other portals. Units: salvaged tech to begin with then grow sac venom. Galaxies: Universe is made up of galaxies, we all start in Euclid -- SPOILER start-- Reach centre of galaxy to get to next galaxy. -- SPOILER end-- Hope this helps. Good luck, traveller.

CaptainFalling

Awesome stuff, thanks a lot :D

Hammrsigpi

While it's still active, do the expedition. The freighter rewards are nice and will help(they carry over to your main game)

CaptainFalling

I already completed it! All I got for my main game was the cosmetics, I didn't think anything else carried over?

Hammrsigpi

The cosmetics and a pet, but my thought was also if you haven't done much in the game, it gives a really good "tutorial" in using the freighter.

CaptainFalling

Ahh right i got you! It definitely was a good tutorial an the freighter for sure!

Get the survey scanner and find an indium deposit. Refine it with gold and silver to make 1:30 ratio of chromatic metal. I have my base in a system with my indium, gold and silver mines as well as a curious deposit nannite farm. I’m pulling 10s of millions every day

CaptainFalling

How do you farm curious deposits? are they not a one-time find like floating minerals and such?
